A Journal for a Broken Soul

Summary:

"October 1st, 1666

Tom gave me this journal yesterday. Told me to start writing as soon as I could. He said it might help me process everything that's happened over this past year, and possibly everything that's happened before that.

Well, I guess I should start with an introduction. My name is Christopher Rowe."

Notes:

Hello! This fic is NOT CANON COMPLIANT. For one, I ship Christopher and Tom. And also, timelines might be a little messed up. I'm not sure what the in-book date for the last chapter of the Raven's Revenge is, but this is set after that. If anyone who reads this knows what that date is, please tell me, and I can update the dates of the journal entries to be more in line with the canonical date the Raven's Revenge ends with. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: October 1st, 1666

Chapter Text

October 1st, 1666

Tom gave me this journal yesterday. Told me to start writing as soon as I could. He said it might help me process everything that's happened over this past year. Maybe even before that.

Guess I should start with an introduction. My name is Christopher Rowe. Otherwise known as the King's favorite orphan.

Just one year ago, maybe a little over that, I was the apprentice of Master Benedict Blackthorn, an apothecary. I was his apprentice for three years until...yeah, I don't know if this will help.

Bye.

Chapter 2: October 3rd, 1666

Summary:

Second entry of Christopher's notebook.

Chapter Text

October 3rd, 1666

I don't really know what to write. I've only kept a journal once, and that was at Cripplegate. Even then, I didn't write much.

Well, I guess I could just talk about my day. I met Christopher Ashcombe, Lord Ashcombe's grandson, a little while ago. He and I are pretty good friends now, I think. We both like cannons, and he's been asking me a lot about my time in France.

I don't usually know what to tell him. I obviously have to keep everything relating to the Knights Templar out of the stories I tell him. But I told him about that one French guy with the snake (I forgot his name, and I don't really care). I told him about Marin and Simon, or Peter Hyde. I haven't told him about what Peter Hyde did. He's still a few years younger than me, and I don't want to scare him.

Anyway, Christopher Ashcombe and I went to the Tower. He's a pretty good kid to be around. We shot cannons! It was really fun!

And that's about it, I think.

Bye.
