Notes:

Hello hello! First work in this fandom, I got into Cookie Run Kingdom like a little over a month ago, and these two have taken over my soul. Toxic old man yaoi or smthing idk. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the story. I tried to keep them all in character as much as I could. Anywho, please enjoy the first chapter. Sorry, it's so short.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Prologue: Is There Hatred in Obsession?

Chapter Text

Shadow Milk Cookie was facing defeat yet again, and it was at the hands of the same cookie. The same cookie every time. Power long spent in his efforts at victory, Shadow Milk sinks to his knees. Black Sapphire Cookie and Candy Apple Cookie had fled ages ago on his command when things started looking rough. With a defeated, albeit annoyed groan, Shadow Milk’s eyes track the victor as he approaches him with slow, methodical steps. Always approaching like he’s some kind of wild animal that needs to be treated with caution. With each step, Shadow Milk tenses up further and further, begging his power to return just enough to teleport out of there before-
“Shadow Milk Cookie,” Pure Vanilla Cookie says gently, “Please, allow me to extend my hand once again and ask, can we finally be friends?”
Rage boils in his chest. The same thing each time his plans failed. Friends. Friends?
“Quit it with that already!” he snarls, “Friends?! What a joke! And not even a funny one at that!”
“It’s not a joke, I truly wish to be your friend,” the other insists, those milky, sightless eyes staring intently at him, “I only need you to let me.”
A cautious hand reaches toward him, which he instantly slaps away. Shakily getting to his feet, Shadow Milk takes a stumbling step back.
“You’re a delusional fool!” he snaps.
With a shuddering breath, he continues quieter, voice filled to the brim with venom, “Mark my words, Pure Vanilla Cookie. You may have defeated me every time before, but. I will DESTROY you in every way imaginable! You’d better HOPE to never see me again in your sorry, pathetic, life!”
And with that, he summons a portal back to the spire, the last thing he sees being Pure Vanilla Cookie’s disappointed face boring into his very being.
-
Shadow Milk Cookie lands in the Spire of Deceit in a heap.
“Master Shadow Milk Cookie-!” Candy Apple exclaims, though he’s already up, clutching his hair in rage.
“How dare he? How dare he offer his ‘friendship’ to me each time? Me?!”
He laughs, manic and unhinged, “Oh, he will regret the day he met me once I’m through with him!”
“What’s the plan now, Master Shadow Milk Cookie?” Black Sapphire asks.
“Plan… yes…” he mutters, “Something to ruin him once and for all…”
The two watch him intently, awaiting his next commands.
His thoughts are a mess.
“Leave me, you two. Now.”
Not needing to be told twice, well, at least Black Sapphire doesn’t, as he drags a protesting Candy Apple out of the room.
His mind a jumbled wreck, Shadow Milk floats there in place for an immeasurable amount of time. One question is present and bouncing around loudly in his skull. How can he fully destroy Pure Vanilla Cookie?
-
Days had passed since his most recent defeat, and Shadow Milk Cookie had been spying relentlessly on Pure Vanilla Cookie from his other realm. To be honest, it was quite boring; his other half led such a dull life, so who could blame him if he stirred up a little trouble while he was observing. A well-placed cake hound had the royal gardener fleeing in terror. Spreading rumors about the staff led some to resign on the spot, tearfully apologizing to a bewildered Pure Vanilla. Not to mention, making the old fool himself trip on nothing at the worst times possible always had him howling in laughter. I mean, witches above, he was going to die of boredom here without making his own entertainment!
At the moment, Pure Vanilla Cookie was engaging in his personal least favorite activity, spending time with White Lily Cookie, who was here for a brief visit. Eugh. A harsh, stabbing pain always tore through his chest when he watched the two of them. Something about White Lily really seemed to spike his rage. Must have something to do with his hatred of the Faerie Kingdom. They should all turn to dust.
Shadow Milk watches with burning loathing as the two walk together through the gardens of the Vanilla Kingdom. Arm in arm. Disgusting. He wants to watch them both crumble. Shadow Milk tunes out for a bit, imagining every way he could make them suffer, before a small laugh from White Lily cookie snaps his attention back. Pure Vanilla Cookie was gently tucking a flower behind her ear, while the other looked bashfully away with flushed cheeks. Revolting. Allowing petty rage to guide his hand, Shadow Milk summons two large snakes to torment them before angrily closing his view of them.
Another useless day of spying and NOTHING. How on Earthbread was he supposed to destroy Pure Vanilla at this rate? None of his other plans worked, no matter what he did, and each failed attempt earned him nothing but that pitiful offer of friendship. How stupid did Pure Vanilla think he was? It was pity, it was a lie, it was a nothing offer.

Shadow Milk had pondered what friendship between them would even look like. It was… surreal and far too strange to even picture properly. Though the thought wasn’t completely unappealing in a certain light. His mind flashes back to the easy touches and closeness between Pure Vanilla and White Lily, and rage washes over the calm he had started to feel.
Her stupid, blushing face, Pure Vanilla’s calm and steady smile. It was all sickening. How foolish to let someone get close to you, especially when they had betrayed you once before.
Shadow Milk freezes as another thought suddenly squeezes to the front of his mind.
The betrayal of someone close.
What could be more despair-inducing than that?
A wicked grin spreads on his face. Get close to Pure Vanilla … and betray his trust. It may not physically destroy him, oh, but it would absolutely ruin him. If Pure Vanilla Cookie wanted his friendship so badly, who was Shadow Milk to deny him?

Notes:

Prologue concluded. Btw, Smilk's feelings toward White Lily do not reflect my own, I LOVE her. He's just a petty, jealous little bastard. Anyway, I don't plan for this story to be very long, maybe 10 chapters? More if I decide to yap on, but regardless, I will attempt to update weekly every Sunday, so stay tuned, my friends! Thank you for reading!
