Chapter Text
Prologue Part 1:
AHHHHH!
Midoryia Inko, screams as she gives labor to a baby boy. Even though she is in immense pain, she is so happy to finally have her baby! After trying for 5 long years with her husband, Midoryia Hisashi, their marriage was almost destroyed because of it. They are finally going to have their family.
With one more push, the wailing sound of a healthy baby boy sounds through the room. Inko sags with relief at not having to push any longer. Hisashi is grinning next to her and goes to look at his child. Inko watches as he walks over but starts to frown when Hisashi is no longer looking happy. Confused, Inko asks to see her baby, who is still wailing. The nurses finish up what they are doing but Inko is feeling more worried as seconds go by and Hisashi looks more angry.
Inko was handed the baby, and she could immediately tell what was wrong. Overall, the baby looks almost like her with tiny freckles doting his checks and the roundness of his eyes and little nose. But his hair is almost black with a tint of green and the most standing out feature are little bumps on his back indicating that her son was to have wings. Inko pales at what this means.
Hisashi walks out of the delivery room with a slam, startling not only her but the delivery crew as well. She feels tears start in her eyes as she looks at the tiny infant. This was not Hisashi’s son. It was the son of the man she had an affair with, a man she was trying so hard to forget. But, alas, karma always comes back.
——Time-lapse——
Inko didn’t know how to feel as she walked the wide halls of the hospital. If she had to come close, numb was what she would describe herself being. She could barely feel the carrier that had her baby or the diaper bag hanging off her shoulder. She didn’t even notice the stares of worry from the nursing staff as she walked past them. Only walking along wanting to get home. Wanting to talk to Hisashi and get this all worked out. To tell him she was sorry and that the affair didn’t mean anything! But life has a way of hitting you when you are already down.
The numbness Inko felt got worse when she got back to her and Hisashi’s apartment. The once cozy little apartment was almost bare of furniture, indicating that Hisashi had left them. Left, Her. Taking everything with him, leaving only a note and her broken heart behind.
Looking around, Inko began to feel angry at life, at how something so foolish could shatter everything around her. Looking down at Izuku, she couldn’t help but feel the anger and disgust form in her heart. The thing that was supposed to bring her joy and fix all her problems actually created a canyon that was unfixable. Setting the carrier on the kitchen island, Inko sat and let the tears fall quietly. Her baby watching her with his round eyes. He seemed to understand that she was upset. He made a cooing sound at her. Which reminded her more of her “situation”, causing her to narrow her eyes back and sneer. How could her feelings turn from joyous to pure disgust? Inko couldn’t fathom, shaking her head lightly and sighing.
For the rest of the night, Inko worked on autopilot, being the dutiful mother but with no feeling. She didn’t hold izuku unless necessary and when she finally set him down, she made sure to leave him in the nursery instead of the bassinet that lay next to the bed in her master bedroom. A reminder of a time she was excited and life was perfect.
The little infant stopped crying after a while, more than likely crying himself to sleep. Inko didn’t feel much towards him. And she couldn’t make herself even try to. Izuku was supposed to fix this cracked marriage, but now it’s broken! No, shattered… Inko felt like a failure because she couldn’t provide Hisashi with what he wanted in the marriage, and now she was left with a reminder. Inko laid down on her bed wondering how this could happen to her. She just wanted to be the best wife she could be, but she failed. Sighing, Inko closed her eyes, willing for the darkness to take over her mind.
