Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter Text
You were so exhausted. Your legs were tired and so were you. The cool night air felt like it was overloading your lungs and nose the faster you ran. But you didn't stop until you officially lost everyone.
Panting, you leaned against a tree and slumped down.
After a while your adrenaline faded and you were starting to shiver. You groaned and forced yourself to get up before slowly trudging along whatever path you were taking into the forest.
It felt like hours before you reached civilization. Well, 'civilization' as in a random cabin that looks centuries old. However, it's the best you can do for now.
You slowly get in while making sure nobody is there, a little alert but mostly careless due to your exhaustion.
There's a big, rusty metal thing in the middle of the room. It looks like the half of a car(?). You can't tell. It's so rusty and moldy you can barely make out what it is.
You think its unsafe to stay here but you really can't afford to be picky. Not when you had to get away from the people chasing you.
You weren't going back. Ever. It was too dangerous for you now.
You sigh again before lightly kicking the rusty thing, half expecting it to fall over and collapse in on itself.
Except it does nothing but shake and tremble like a machine stirring awake.
Your eyes widen with caution and you slowly back off. It looks like it's about to explode or something.
Did you set off some kind of bomb?!
It continued to shake before some lights peeked through the mold and before you even had the chance to think or do anything, a bright light blinded you and knocked you unconscious.
_____
"Shit, did we mess sumthin' up? Why the hell is there a human 'ere?"
"Don't know. It happens almost every half year. We can't expect the same every time it goes off."
"Yea, but a human?!"
Your brows slightly furrow at the random voices, your head swarming with thoughts.
Half of you wanted to panic and get up to run away from whatever this was. But the other half reminded you that it was useless. You were tired, done, and most likely had no where else to go even if you could move.
Great. You barely ran away for what? A few hours before you got caught? That's sad. You're too tired to do anything about it though.
Your hands twitched a little and you could feel the cold cement on the ground. Are you in prison again?
Your eyes started to open slightly, squinting at the dim warm lights. Your vision was blurry.
"She's awake. Now what?"
"She might be hostile, watch out."
"Just be careful, she might panic."
You turn your head to look at who was talking. Weirdos. Talking about you as if you were some kind of wild animal. They're the ones who kidnapped you, why are they acting like you're the dangerous one?
You tried to get a good look at them, but your vision continued to stay blurry while your body continued to feel heavy and light all at the same time.
All you could see were blurs of white, blue, orange, and red.
"Who are you?" You said. Or at least tried to. It only came out as a hoarse and very quiet sound. Nobody understood what you just said.
Your body trembled and shook just to get up, to move, do anything. But just moving your head felt like carrying a whole building.
"Woah, easy there." You heard a voice. A man's voice. Shit. They're all men. You're done for. You're officially dead.
Your body trembled more, desperate to move, but you couldn't. As the person got closer, you could only see a blur of white and blue.
The other guys were talking about something that you couldn't decipher through your brain anymore. But you wanted them gone.
Or...maybe...could this be an angel? Is that why you see white? Are angels this white? Maybe thats why there's a huge white blur. But you don't see any wings. Well, not like you could see much in the first place.
But the warm lighting makes whoever is there look angelic-ish. Is this your reward for enduring everything in your life? Some kind of form of safety after whatever happened to you back in that rusty old cabin?
Your vision swam, you were getting dizzy and the lights only made your eyes sleepy. Before you knew it, your eyes closed.
The thought of angels being with you and not random men that kidnapped you stopped you from panicking at the sensation of losing consciousness. In fact, the thought alone made you welcome the fact of your possible death for the exchange of peace and safety.
The last thing you felt was something cold on your forehead and some rushed, muffled talking.

Chapter Text
You felt a slight cold breeze pass through you. It felt strange and unexpected, making you shiver.
You could also smell rain. Rain. Where were you again?
You were running away. It was your wedding day.
You didn't want to be married. But it was a requirement for young girls. A law. A stupid law. A really weird and messed up law.
What happened?
Another breeze flew in, the wind felt like cold pricks to your skin. You pulled the blanket closer to you.
You ran away from the wedding before midnight. At the same time some guests were leaving and the party was starting to end.
You tripped and fell multiple times in your long white dress. It tore and ripped to the point it looked as if you were dressed for Halloween instead.
It was a good thing you knew how to run in heels.
It helped immensely.
You got tired. It was cold. You found a cabin deep in the woods. Inside was some kind of moldy thing.
Mold. Machine. Light. Then people. People?
_____
'She's awake. Now what?'
'She might be hostile, watch out.'
'Just be careful, she might panic.'
_____
People or....
_____
'Or...maybe...could this be an angel? Is that why you see white? Are angels this white? Maybe thats why there's a huge white blur.'
_____
You heard the wind, a slight howl in its tune. The smell of fresh rain would be comforting if it weren't for the fact that you were cold. You snuggled closer to the blanket.
Wait- blanket?
Your eyes snap open, only to be met with an unrecognizable room. Your heart dropped.
You're not dead, you didn't die. There really were people. Did you really get caught?
How are you gonna make up an excuse for this now?! You magically got kidnapped near the end of the wedding and somehow ended up exploding something in an empty cabin?
No, no, no! You messed up big time now!
You're done for! You're going to prison again! And this time for a much, much longer time.
Another breeze made you shiver. Breeze....breeze! There's a window in here!
You quickly take off the now suffocating blanket that is holding you down. You quickly rushed over to the window but you realized it was way too small to fit through.
You groan in frustration. You need to leave now.
You look around the room, scanning for another exit. A walk-in closet, a dresser, and that was it. Besides the bed of course.
No other escape... no where to go..
No. Calm down. Panicking is not going to do anything.
You repeat the thought in your head but it feels hard when you don't know who kidnapped you and what they want.
And what they'll do if they find out that you ran out on the wedding.
You force yourself to take deep breaths, to calm down. Thumbs rubbing over your knuckles in a self-soothing motion. Just like always.
In and out.
In and out.
In. And out.
Letting out a breath, you lightly slap your cheeks to alert yourself.
Get a hold of yourself.
Alright. Here's the plan. Look for a quick exit. Whether that's a window or door. Doesn't matter if it's two-stories high or more.
You'll figure it out from there.
Don't alert anyone. If you hear anyone, return quickly. If you get caught and they question you about anything related to a wedding, act like the victim.
Claim someone was after you and you just ran for your own safety, not knowing whether you were gonna live to see another day.
However, if someone kidnapped you for a reason unknown and not related to the wedding, use your heels as a weapon.
They'll come in handy.
You took another step towards the door, preparing to leave this place behind.
But something made you stop in your tracks. There was chatter down the hallway.
Your hallway.
Your eyes widened and you immediately froze, stuck in your panicked half-step position.
Whatever they were talking about went through one ear and out the other. All you could hear was a high-pitched ringing and your very loud heartbeat which seemed to be pulsing, pounding in your ears.
They're moving closer and closer towards your room. Men. Two men.
One is so loud and the other is just quieter.
They stopped by your door.
Your breath hitches, your skin felt pricked all over, you were shaking.
You were absolutely NOT prepared for this. What were you even thinking?!
The doorknob turns and you let out a small yelp.
Yea, okay, that's it. It's over for you now. Your plan immediately thrown out the window. You're dead.
It was silent for a moment. Your eyes wide and unblinking, too scared to look away from the doorknob.
Do you attack or do you pretend to be a damsel in distress? Can you even fake an act? Can you even defend yourself?
Do you just beg for mercy?
The doorknob turns and the door opens.
You stay frozen as two skeletons emerge from the entrance. They're analyzing your expressions and position.
"Please Don't Be Frightened! We Don't Mean Any Harm!" One of skeletons says. He has blue eyelights and an overall blue theme.
His words don't ease you. In fact, you think your body just went blank, unmoving. Your eyes widened further---which you didn't even think was possible---when he took a step towards you.
"Hold on bro, the human needs some space." The other skeleton says. He stops the shorter blue one from moving by placing a hand on his shoulder. He's wearing an orange hoodie.
"Oh, Yes! I Apologize, Human. I Did Not Mean To Scare You More Than You Must Already Be Feeling." He took a step back. That still didn't calm you down.
In your head, you were still swarming with decisions. Cry? Escape? Fight? What do you do? If you move will that set them off?
"Hey." A voice cut you off from your thoughts. Orange guy. Your eyes dart to him. He seems relaxed, his slouched posture showing nothing but that. "We're not going to hurt you, we're trying to help you out here. I know you must be confused but we'll explain after you calm down."
Explain what? Why they kidnapped you? Is this some kind of joke..?
But then again, you're at an disadvantage. You don't know what they're capable of doing. For all you know, there could be more of them. You can't escape right now.
Just calm down. If you calm down, they'll explain and you'll escape when you get the chance. Clear head, clear thoughts.
You took a few deep breaths, slightly untensing and took a few experimental steps back. Testing to see if they'd do anything about it.
They just gave a glance at each other but let you anyways.
You sighed and stood near the dresser, clutching onto one of the corners.
"Where am I?" You mumble.
"Uhm...Well, It's Complicated," The blue one began. Complicated my ass. "Do You Remember What You Were Doing Before This?"
You nearly froze again but stopped yourself from showing it. Did they know about the wedding? Is that what this is?
"I-I uh, I was running away from, uh- from someone. Um. I tripped somewhere. And uh, I took a cabin- I mean I went in a cabin after..after a while of being lost in the forest. I don't know what happened then. I just woke up here." You nervously rambled. It was the truth. Not the full truth but close enough.
You didn't need to share details. They'd send you to jail.
They both gave a glance at each other. The blue one worried and the orange one had a contemplated look in his eyes.
"I'm So Sorry To Hear That, Human... It Must've Been Terrifying To Experience That," the blue thing started. "Do You Remember What Happened In the Cabin?"
Cabin? Why are they interested in that? Are there alterior motives to this question?
You stayed silent for a while before answering. "Um. I'm not sure. I kicked a metal vehicle shaped object and then I saw a white light. Must've been a really rusty car or something. It could've been headlights, I'm unsure."
They both looked at each other and seemed to have a look of understanding and realization.
Can they stop having telepathic communication for once?
"Well, to put it simply, that's not all that happened." Orange guy said.
What does he mean by that? Was it really an explosion like you thought?
"What do you mean?" You cautiously asked.
"What I mean is, you're no longer anywhere near from where you came from," huh? "And I don't mean in state, country, or planet. This is gonna sound hard to believe but you're in a different universe, kid." He looked at you as if waiting for your reaction.
Well...it wasn't as uncommon to hear about the multiverse from where you live. There was this Sans guy, a monster that wrote books about it.
And it was kinda widely known. Some people believed it, some people didn't. Point is, you're not surprised. But you're also not sure they're telling the truth.
They could be tricking you so you can trust them. They think you're gullible.
You need proof.
"Well, if what you say is supposedly true...pass me your phone." You extend your hand out.
Orange guy pulls out his phone from his cargo shorts and lightly tosses it to you. Good. You don't want him getting near you.
You catch it with ease and immediately go to browser.
Searching up some towns, countries, news, presidents, laws. You occasionally glance at them to make sure they stay where they are.
From your search, you can see how some things are the same. But it's very, very clear how different everything is.
But you don't feel sure. They could've edited this somehow, no?
How can you be sure to trust this?
You can't, that's the thing. You have no physical evidence that your town somehow doesn't exist. That the laws are different here.
You only have the internet, which could've been faked and edited for everything.
"Is there...another way to prove it to me?"
They both looked at each other again, contemplating whatever they were thinking.
"Sure. We'll show you." Orange guy jerked his head in the direction outside the room.
You nodded and waited for them to go first.
Great. This is probably a trap.
You gripped the edge of your torn dress, hard. Follow them, it's a trap. Don't follow them and it could lead to worse consequences.
No. Stay calm.
Your face relaxed into a neutral expression.
Just follow them. Make sure there's an escape and plan how to do it.
You followed them through the long hallways, down some stairs and a few turns. It seemed like a gloomy day from what you could see outside.
7 windows, 10 doors so far. You can't tell which doors lead outside. It's a little dark in here. Which makes it all the more eerie...
"We're here. Just warning you, some of them are not that great with humans." Orange guy commented as if that wasn't a literal threat.
Also, you knew it! There are others here!
Who knows what would've happened if you tried escaping before they arrived and they caught you...
"Don't Worry, Human! We Have It Under Control!" Blue thing said as if that was supposed to make you feel safe.
You walked directly behind them, who knows what he means by that. The 'others' could be ready to attack you for all you're aware.
Well, they are also untrustworthy but if they're telling you then maybe, just maybe they might offer some sort of protection. At least temporarily.
Maybe.
As you got closer you could hear chatter. Some grumbles, some laughter, some random talking.
Your stomach churned, feeling sick at the noise. They were all men.
Now you're really trapped.
You turned the hallway one last time, contemplating to run away but as soon as you stepped into the room, you knew it was too late.
Like motion cameras it seems they immediately noticed you and stopped their talking to look at you.
All their eyes were on you. It felt very, very uncomfortable.
"Guys, The Human Woke Up!" Blue thing said.
Your eyes quickly scanned across the room.
They all looked (no offense) the same. Just different color schemes.
One group was red and black, the tall one glaring at you while the other menacingly stared at you from the couch. Edgy.
The purple group was also staring you down. The short one looking like he was watching your every move while the tall one seemed to be analyzing you.
And then there was the least menacing looking group, the blue and red guys. Blue short guy had a chillaxed posture and the tall one had a positive kind of presence.
"I think we can all see her with our own eyelights, muffin." The short, red edgy guy rolled his eyelights, his voice deep and growl-ish(?).
Blue guy frowned. "Ugh, You Know I Hate That Nickname, Red!"
Don't tell me his name's an actual color...
"Guys, Let's Not Argue Right Now! Does The Human Know?" Positive guy asked.
"We told her, she just wants proof. Brought her down here since we are basically proof of it." Orange guy said, shrugging.
"Well Then, Are You Believing It Now, Human?" Short and purple guy said in a rather patronizing tone.
He looked scary with that scar on his left eye. Not to mention the evil relaxed smile on his face. Sharp teeth too...
Everybody turned to look at you again. Don't react. Calm down.
"...Um...does it have to do with you all looking the same or...?" You mumble.
"Wow. Did The Puny Human Finally Catch On?" Tall red guy sarcastically asked. Why do half of them have sharp teeth and features?
They're most likely dangerous as well. At least they're not showing interest in you. Then again, it'd be a relief if that were true but you can't be too sure about it...
"Edge, chill. She just woke up, she didn't even know about it in the first place. Cut her some slack." Orange guy said.
That only seemed to anger him more, his scowl deepening.
"'Chill'?! Me?! How Can I 'Chill' When You Bafoons Messed It All Up Again! And Instead Of Another Group, You Somehow Brought In A Human!" Tall red guy yelled, gesturing wildly with his hands, pointing at you.
"Hmph! Bafoons? I Think You're Forgetting The Fact That Your Own Brother Helped Participate In This Mess. Or Did You Forget?" Short purple guy cut in.
"Your Useless Brother Doesn't Even Help In The First Place!" He yelled back.
A whole argument was about to start if it weren't for the short blue chill guy.
"Enough. We made a mistake. We can't go undo all of them now, so you both suck it up or go outside to argue. We have to deal with this situation now. There's no time to point fingers." He sounded exhausted, his eyebags(eyelines?) being proof of that.
He also gave both of them a stern look. They both still seemed pretty enraged but stayed silent.
Short blue guy sighed. "Great." He turned to look at you to which the rest followed. Creepy...
"Do you need more proof than this? You still haven't answered."
Yes. I mean, they could be cousins and you wouldn't know. You need to know what exactly is going on. Knowing the basics doesn't exactly give you an answer for whatever this is.
Plus, they could all be faking and this is just a lie to get you for whatever disgusting and twisted reason that goes on in their heads.
But you're also scared, palms sweaty as you tightly hold onto your dress from the sides.
If they are faking, they might get angry or violent if you keep on pushing for answers.
"Well?" Tall red guy impatiently tapped his foot on the floor, arms crossed as his seemingly permanent scowl remained.
_____
"We're here. Just warning you, some of them are not that great with humans."
_____
You felt chills crawl up your spine.
"Um. Can you tell me the specifics about all of this..? I can't really trust, uh- this," You gestured to the whole room. "Without at least hearing or knowing what even happened. I still don't get it."
"Well, say where you come from counts as a universe. Now picture another universe where some things are altered." You nod. "That'd be an alternative universe. We used a machine and made a few mistakes. They malfunctioned and brought different versions of ourselves here. But this time it brought you and we're not sure why." The blue chill guy said.
You still don't really believe them. But you can't escape now. Monsters are far greater in strength than humans are. And they're all men. Remember that.
This isn't the first time some men tried to pull a crazy lie just to trick a woman into whatever they wanted.
Just go along with what they say. You'll find your time to get out.
"Oh, I see...I get it now." You mumbled with a small nod. "So...what does this mean for me? As of now?"
A few contemplative looks crossed the room. Eventually they waited for the blue chill guy to speak. Was he their leader or something?
"I guess you'll just have to live with us. Like everyone else. Until we figure out how to send everyone back at least." Blue chill guy shrugged.
Oh, so it's that type of con. Great. Well, you know what? Fine then. You'll just wait until they all fall asleep to escape.
Simple.
"Alright then.. Where will I be sleeping?" It better not be with any of them.
"There's An Empty Room Between Sans and Mutt! That One Works, Right?" Positive guy offered.
"I'm sorry, who's who? I don't know any of your names." You're trying to keep up but you're just listing them by color and attitude at this point.
"Oh, Right! We Haven't Introduced Ourselves. I'm Papyrus! That Lazybones Over There Is My Brother, Sans." Papyrus stood proud and also directed towards Sans who just gave you a lazy wave.
Sans...writer of the book. Strange. He was dusted years ago. You didn't know what kind of monster he was...until today apparantely.
No. They're lying. Definitely. It's all a lie.
"I'm Stretch and this is my bro, Blue." Stretch gave a thumbs up and Blue put his hands on his hips, firmly nodding with a big smile.
"'M Red." Red was still frowning(or maybe it's just permanent for him) nodding in your direction.
"I'm The Great and Terrible Edge!" The edgy guy proudly declared, though you guess his looks back up his claims.
"And I'm The Terrific And Malicious Berry!" Short purple dude loudly yelled. "This here is my brother, Mutt." Mutt nodded.
Weird names. Weird guys. You should really get out of here sooner.
"-ou Think?"
You snapped out of your thoughts when you realized Papyrus was asking you something.
"Hm?"
"I Said, You'll Be Put Between Sans And Mutt. What Do You Think?" His big smile contrasted strongly with your emotions right now.
How do you say no in a way that makes them all back off and also leave you alone?
Back in your town, if you hurt a guy's ego or said something rude, they'd lose attraction for you. At least temporarily. They'd avoid you. Leave you alone.
What do you say? Quick, they're all looking at you! You need to escape tonight!
"Um...I- uh...I don't think that'd be a good idea.." you mumbled, racking your brain for an excuse.
"Hm? Why's That?" Papyrus tilted his head, asking you.
Think, think!
"I uhhh...um," You could feel a bead of sweat running down your neck.
Aha, you got it!
"I'm actually really, really...uncomfortable around monsters. Sorry."
And just like that, the room went dead silent.
Notes:
Uh oh, looks like you're onto a rough start! Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
