The Reign of the Wolf Queen

Summary:

The Coronation was about to take place, ushering in a new Age in the North, where they would be independent, ruled by Queen Lynnara and King Robb. This would bring many changes, for the Game of Thrones was not over, and many were unhappy that the North was sovereign again. Despite this, Lynnara was happy, preparing for a journey Beyond the Wall to bring peace between the North and the Free Folk. And also because she felt she had to go there, a knot in her stomach pulled her to the coldest place in the Forest Beyond the Wall and she would take the Dragon Eggs. After all, she could feel life pulsing as strongly as her heart. As tensions rose ever higher in King's Landing, Robert's reign was drawing to a close, and soon Joffrey would rise to power, heads would fall, and blood would soak the land.

Robb's POV

I open my eyes, feeling my head resting on the best pillow in the world. It's simply soft and warm, and I soon realize it's Lynnara's breast, as memories of another night form in my mind. And I start to smile, because it was simply incredible! The best night I've ever had. I know it wasn't the way most men like it, but I simply loved every moment. It was good not having to be in control, having Lynnara in control of everything. She took care of me and made sure I felt pleasure. Just as she felt pleasure, we spent the entire night having fun. Afterwards, we used the secret passages to go to Lord Stark's Private Hot Spring, which belongs to my father, but he goes to King's Landing and now belongs to me. We had a little more fun, with Lynnara always in control, then we cleaned up and went to sleep. But the sun had already risen, and from the look in the window, it must be close to lunchtime. But I don't think anyone will criticize us for being late, and I admit I'm very lucky. I have a strong and beautiful woman by my side. She managed to make the North sovereign again, someone no one else had managed to do. That's when I place a kiss on Lynnara's lips and am happy when she kisses me back. Lynnara says,

"Why are you looking at me like that, my King? You seem to look at me as if I were made of gold, or even some kind of precious jewel." I move closer to Lynnara, kissing her breasts lovingly, adoring them as they deserve. And I feel how soft and perfect they are. Lynnara looks at me lovingly, stroking my red hair tenderly, while I melt in her hands and say,

"My Queen, you are more precious than anything in the North, you are perfect! And I hate to get up, but we have to have lunch, then I have to expel my mother, and finally, we have the coronation." I see Lynnara grimace. I know she's very excited for the coronation, especially since we'll be using the old crowns from before the Targaryens arrived. But my Queen is not at all happy with my mother, and Lynnara says,

"Robb, I need to know, do you really want to expel your mother? I don't want to cause you any trouble, simply because she and I hate each other." I lean into Lynnara's face, kissing it lovingly, which makes her smile at me, tugging my hair gently. This moment was simply perfect, in my opinion. I never thought it was possible to feel so much happiness, but that's what I felt at that moment, and I say it.

"Lynnara, I'm going to expel my mother because I don't want her near you or our future children. She can try to act happy about having grandchildren or being near you, but I don't trust her. The further away from the North she is, the better, and I know Rickon won't mind, none of our brothers will mind, and I know this will make her happier." Lynnara smiles at me, sweet and caring. She knows I've spoken the truth, that no one wants my mother here, and my wife says,

"You're right, my King. Now, I think we should get ready. And get ready, because everyone must have heard you shout that you were my servant and would do as I commanded."

I can feel my face flushing, knowing I'd never hear the end of it, but I crack a smile. Because deep down, I don't care; I was never lying. Lynnara was my Queen; I would do whatever she commanded without hesitation. If it meant being her Servant, then fine with me. But I focus on Lynnara—her naked body was stunningly beautiful, seemingly ethereal—and watch her get dressed. At the same time, I start putting on my own clothes, noticing that Lynnara has donned one of her gray, fur-trimmed dresses, with pants that seem to hug her body. I approach her, picking up her hairbrush, and starting to brush her hair. I know most men would hate doing this, and would call me weak, but I simply loved caring for Lynnara and brushing her hair. Today, I leave it down because it's wavy, like a beautiful waterfall. When we were ready, I offered her a hug, and Lynnara took it with a smile. As we left the room, Ghost and Greywind were waiting for us. While the servants went in to tidy up, everyone would soon know about the bloodstain, which proved Lynnara was a Virgin. Thankfully, no one questioned the Dragon Eggs, which were in a pile of snow under the bed. Everywhere we went, people smiled at us, but the men gave me strange looks, but it didn't matter. It was then that we entered the Great Hall, where lunch was being served. Everyone immediately clapped, and as we climbed onto the table, I said to everyone:

"Today is a great day for me, because it's the beginning of my married life, but it's also a great day for the North, which will become sovereign again. Besides, I'm happy to say that my mother will accompany my father to King's Landing, and I know she will be happy there." It was a subtle way of saying that my mother was being expelled from the North; I considered simply saying that she was expelled. But Lynnara says that sometimes subtlety is necessary, while I noticed that none of my brothers seemed to protest my decision, and that was when my mother stood up furiously and said,

"I'm being expelled, by my own son!? And why!? Because of a bastard, after all, everyone knows she controls you, as yesterday's screams confirm it!" A tense atmosphere fell in the Great Hall, even King Robert and my father didn't know what to say, while I felt my face turning red. Since she hadn't lied, I had truly given all control to Lynnara, and I didn't regret it. It was then that Lynnara stood up, took my hand, and said,

"Lady Catelyn, I think you're overstepping your bounds. After all, my husband is only telling you that you should go and be happy in King's Landing. After all, you've always expressed to everyone how unhappy you were in the North, and you've also never hidden your contempt for me, so I think it's best for everyone that you leave the North without scandal, since Lord Tully wouldn't want to know that his daughter caused a scandal just to go to King's Landing, would he?" My mother blushed with embarrassment, then sat back down in silence. After all, if necessary, she would be escorted out of the North by our guards, which wouldn't be good for her reputation or the Tully family's. And Tyrion Lannister said,

"Well, I must admit, meals in the North are always very entertaining. But I must offer my congratulations, the Queen and King in the North. I wish you a long reign!"

Soon after everyone clapped, as I sat down next to Lynnara, who smiled at me, and I knew we would have a beautiful future.

Chapter Text

Eddard's POV

My footsteps echo through Winterfell. Little by little, I leave the walls around me, saying a final goodbye to my home and preparing to face King's Landing. Just thinking about it sends a shiver down my spine, because it's no secret that King's Landing is a veritable snake pit, and I've never been one for politics. A part of me feels like this is the last time I'll be here, but I don't want to think about it. Instead, I focus on the fact that the North is a Kingdom, that it's finally sovereign again! To be honest, I never thought this could be possible, that of all the territories in the Seven Kingdoms, it would be the North that would become independent, and no war needed to break out for this to happen. And I know this is all thanks to Lynnara. I don't understand how no one noticed she's not my daughter. After all, I have no aptitude for politics or the Game of Thrones. It turns out it was Lynnara who rallied all the other territories to her support, including Dorne, which has always shown hatred for the North. I know she manipulated the entire situation, fooled even the great Tywin Lannister, and gained the support of the Tyrells and all three Baratheon brothers. Lynnara is unique; I believe no one else could have done what she did. My daughter was truly born to be a Queen. She inherited the best traits of Lyanna, Rhaegar, and Ellia. She was born a Princess, the sole Heir to the Iron Throne, but she was not meant to live in the South. Her place is on the Frozen Throne of the North; she made the North sovereign and deserves to rule it.

My thoughts go to Robb. My son is very lucky to have a wife like Lynnara; they are perfect for each other. It turns out that from the time Robb was a child, it was obvious he was unfit to rule. I love my son, but he lacks the subtlety and quick thinking that a ruler should possess. This is quite different from Lynnara, who always demonstrated a talent for governing; she thrived in all her classes, whether in fighting, strategy, or politics. One of the best decisions I made was to have Lynnara take classes with Robb; she helped my son and also learned everything she needed. Robb would be a good Lord, but he would be like me: he would keep everyone safe and happy, but stagnant in the same situation. But with Lynnara, the North would flourish and prosper like never before. However, Lynnara is my Bastard, at least that's what everyone thinks, so I couldn't give the North to her without the Tullys going berserk. But Robb provided the solution. He was in love with Lynnara, and she with him, ensuring that the North's future was bright. This way, Lynnara would rule the North, and Robb wouldn't be forced into a role he wasn't suited for.

Besides, they look great and very handsome together. They may not be a traditional couple, but it's obvious they love each other. My son followed and obeyed Lynnara without question, always trusting her decisions. At the same time, Robb made sure Lynnara took care of herself; sometimes Lynnara gets too focused and forgets her basic needs. That's why I'm always happy to see Robb making her eat, sleep, and relax a bit. Lynnara, in return, gives Robb everything he needs, like love and ruling the North in his stead. It was incredible to see them together. Robb became a great warrior, nearly unbeatable, and I know that in a few years, no one will be able to defeat him except Lynnara. I know he worked hard to be the warrior Lynnara needed, to be able to fight the battles in her name. That's when I enter their room, see Robb, and ask.

"Robb, where's Lynnara? She shouldn't be here with you getting ready for the coronation, and besides, you look majestic." Robb turns to me. He's wearing a gray fur cloak, bearing our House colors, and has his sword at his waist. His red hair is neatly combed; he truly looks like a king. Robb says to me,

"It turns out Lynnara was kidnapped by Sansa, Ygritte, and Arya. They wanted my Wolf to look perfect. And thank you for the compliment. Would you like anything, Father?" I sigh, feeling my chest swell with pride, realizing how Robb has grown, and I'll miss him and the other children when I go to King's Landing. But I focus and say,

"I've come to see my sons, who have managed to make the North sovereign again, so they know the pride they've brought to House Stark." Robb smiles at me as he sits across from me, the happiness in his eyes and the way he smiles obvious. And all I could feel was immense pride in him and Lynnara. I'd always feared failing them, and I was happy to see that I hadn't. And Robb says,

"Believe me, Father, I didn't do anything; everything that happened was thanks to Lynnara. The only thing I did was give her all the support she needed, and I asked Lynnara if she wanted me to be her Consort instead of the King." I'm not surprised by Robb's question. Their wedding night made it clear that Lynnara controlled every aspect of their relationship, and that my son was happy about it. And I ask,

"Tell me, what did Lynnara think of that, Robb? But tell me, what would you like to be called: King or Consort?" I saw my son laugh, which reassured me, because I knew that no matter what happened, he and Lynnara would take care of their younger siblings, as well as each other. And Robb said,

"Well, to begin with, Lynnara rolled her eyes, then said that I was the King and therefore her equal, that I could be her servant and obey her without question, but that they would always be equal and that I was an extension of her will. Besides, I don't care what they call me; as long as I'm with Lynnara, I'll be happy. And I need to know, are you disappointed with my choices?" I walked over to Robb, pulling him into a hug. I was happy when he didn't hesitate to hug me tightly. I admitted it had been a long time since I'd hugged my son and told him so.

"Robb, I may not understand your choices, and your reasons for giving all your control to Lynnara, choosing to follow without question. But that doesn't mean I'm not proud of you, for being with Lynnara and finding your happiness." I pull away from Robb, seeing him smiling calmly at me, which reassures me he'll be fine. Robb says,

"Thank you, Father. And I hope you return to the North, to see how the Realm is prospering, but especially to see your future grandchildren. And while you're in King's Landing, keep an eye on Joffrey; I don't trust him." It's obvious he's worried, and I say,

"I'll come visit, and I won't let Joffrey do anything. Besides, Robert won't die any time soon!" And I hear the bell ring; it's time for the coronation.

Lynnara's POV

I look at the long red carpet, spread out in front of me. All the Houses of the North are gathered, looking happy and anxious. And I can feel Ghost's presence beside me. Without hesitation, I begin to stroke her head. I take in my outfit. I'm wearing a dress as white as snow, with crystals that look like ice, and my shoulders are covered by a long, white fur cape. My hair is loose except for the braids that represent the lives I've taken; they create movements in my hair. And at the end of the carpet, there are two nearly identical thrones; the only difference between them is size. The one on the left is larger, and the one on the right is slightly smaller, but it's a small difference. And I find it incredible that the thrones are made of black ice and covered in animal skins. They've existed since Brandon the Builder and were once in the Winterfell treasury. I see that in front of the thrones are Maester Luwin, with King Robert and my father, who carries a box at his side. It was then that I felt Robb's presence. I glanced to the side, seeing how handsome he looked, and Greywind was at his side. Together we walked down the carpet, stopping in front of Maester Luwin, who smiled and said,

"Today the North will become sovereign again. The Deed of Independence was written by me, containing the wishes of King Robert Baratheon and the future Queen Lynnara Stark. The contract was reviewed by Tyrion Lannister, Benjen Stark, and Eddard Stark, attesting to the justice of the Deed of Independence." The three were chosen by me, my father, and my uncle to ensure no one would deceive us, and Tyrion because he is impartial. And I saw Tyrion approaching with the contract, and he said,

"I, along with Benjen Stark and Eddard Stark, attest that this is a fair and proper contract. That, upon signing, it guarantees the independence of the North, while King Robert and the Six Kingdoms pledge to return any property or artifacts in their possession. And the North must have Lynnara Stark and Robb Stark on the throne, or their direct descendants. If this is not fulfilled, the North will revert to belonging to the Six Kingdoms, which will once again be known as the Seven Kingdoms." I emphasized this last part; it prevents the Northern Houses from attempting to seize the Frozen Throne, as that would mean losing the North's sovereignty. But I focus on Maester Luwin, who says,

"I believe all are in agreement. I ask that you come forward and sign the contract, ushering in a new era in the North!" I pick up the quill, signing my name without hesitation, as I watch Robb do the same, and then the contract is taken away by Luwin for safekeeping. As King Robert approaches, I'm happy to see him smiling, and I hear my father say,

"Today, I am so proud, for the North will become sovereign again! And now, the Coronation of the King and Queen of the North can take place!" As my father approaches, he opens the box, revealing two crowns. They are different from each other. The first appears to be made of the purest silver, with two crossed wolves howling. I know this is the Queen's Crown. Next to it is a crown, black as obsidian, with crystals that look like ice and a white wolf with red eyes. It is the King's Crown. And King Robert says,

"I, Robert Baratheon, King of the Six Kingdoms, have crowned Lynnara Stark as Queen in the North and have crowned Robert Stark as King in the North!"

I'm surprised when the crown usually given to the King is placed on my head and the other on Robb's. But from my husband's expression, he planned it so everyone would know I was the main ruler, and that was sweet of him. When we turn to the People, the sound seems to fill the room, everyone cheering, for we have ushered in a new era in the North. I look at Robb, smiling at me, but I concentrate, raising my hand, and everyone falls silent. And I begin my speech.

"Today is a day never to be forgotten, for the North is sovereign again. We will no longer bend the knee to any King or Queen who does not have the blood of the First Men in their veins! We will not die in Southron wars! We will be a Kingdom again, we will bring pride to our ancestors, and may the howls of the Stark Wolves reach every corner of the North! We usher in a new era!"

And the Ghost howls, followed by Greywind and all the other wolves, and when they stop, the celebration resumes. And I see my father with tears in his eyes, and I feel Robb's hand in mine. He leads me to our thrones and sits on the smaller throne, while I sit on the larger one. I happily observe the party. I see Sansa delivering the letters I requested—invitation to the small council—and I just haven't chosen anyone as Hand of the King. It turns out I'm not sure who to choose. I wanted it to be Uncle Benjen, but he's of the Night's Watch, which makes that impossible. But I'm surprised to see Barristan kneel before me, and everyone looks at him, and I say,

"Sir Barristan, is there something you wish? I truly hope your stay in the North has been pleasant." I raise my head proudly, nodding my permission for Barristan to stand. As I do, he looks at me seriously and says,

"Your Majesty, I wish to train your Kingsguard and also be a member of it, thus ensuring that Your Majesty and your family are safe, if I may." I tilt my head. I really hadn't expected that, and I'm intrigued by his reasons for doing so. And I notice that my husband seems very excited to have Barristan here, and I say,

"I would be honored to have a knight like you join my court. But I do not wish to begin my reign by stealing the Captain of the Kingsguard of the Six Kingdoms and causing animosity between us. Tell me, did King Robert allow you to leave the Kingsguard?" I see Barristan glance over to where King Robert is drinking without speaking, while flirting with a waitress, and I notice that my father looks tired, as he tries to stop King Robert, and Barristan says,

"Your Majesty, I do not wish to bring animosity to your reign. I have already submitted my retirement to the Hand of the King of the Six Kingdoms, who accepted, and I wish to stay and see this Kingdom flourish." I understood his words, but there was something else behind them. I still couldn't see what it was, but it was better for him to be nearby, so I could observe him, and I said,

"Well, if it is your wish and you have been released from your former post, I will be happy to welcome you to the North. Especially since it would please my King Robb and Princess Arya to have a knight like you. We will discuss the details later." Sir Barristan bowed and said,

"I promise to serve with pride and without question, my Queen!" And the feast resumed.

Notes:

I'm accepting suggestions for Hand of the King, in this case Hand of Lynnara
