When Derek was six years old he met Mieczyslaw “Mischief” Stilinski. Mischief was only a few weeks old when Claudia was finally well enough to come to the pack house with a proud “Uncle” Noah following behind carrying the most overpacked diaper bag he had ever seen. Derek stayed tucked behind the spindles on the stairs as they shuffled into the house. His mother Talia met them at the door with a warm welcome and his father Malec and Uncle Peter were quick to join in.
Over the next few weeks the Stilinski’s were a near constant in the pack house. Other pack members coming and going, greeting the new parents and leaving gifts for baby Mischief. Derek spent as much time as possible near Mischief without ever approaching. His mother told him he had nothing to be scared of, but Derek wasn’t scared of Mischief. No. Derek knew that Mischief was to be protected. Babies were small and weak and even though Derek could only just feel his fangs starting to come in he wanted to be there to watch over Mischief.
