Work Text:
“You fucking dumbass!” Connie exclaims. “I didn’t even get to finish that!”
“Not my fault your ass is so slow” Sasha replies fastly, cup in her hands right before smelling it. “Lucky for you, I don’t really like coke and rum so you can have this back”
“Give me that shit” The man replies right before snatching his cup from his bestfriend’s hold.
Armin saw the scene from 7 feet away, laughing softly under his breath. To the unknowing eye, it looked like two people who like to annoy each other, but for those who know them, it’s the same but they’re best friends.
“It’s like the third time she does this tonight,” Connie says as he approaches Armin, sighing.
“Well, I’m surprised that you still expect for her to change after all these years, Connie” The blond man replies, his own cup shifting from hand to hand.
“What can I say, I’m a man with hope crossed on my heart” Connie answers dramatically, putting one hand over his heart. “Talking about hearts…”
Armin looks up straight into Connie’s face, noticing how his eyebrows wriggle. “Oh please don’t start…”
“How are things going with Jean?” And there it is, Armin thinks. “I mean, did you talk after what happened?”
“Yeeah… We did” Not, he wanted to add.
He remembered vividly what happened that time, even though it had only been a kiss, nothing more. Friends kiss, right? Right?
They had spent the whole day at Armin’s house, both needing to finish some work of their own. Jean was sitting on Armin’s bed while the blond man was sitting right in front of his desk, typing rapidly on his computer.
“Are you done yet?” Jean asked while getting up from his spot, stretching a little bit right before approaching Armin.
“Not really, I’m still stuck in the same part.” Armin replies softly, his body relaxing a little bit as he felt the other right behind him. “Are you done?” He asks while leaning his head back to look at Jean.
In that exact moment, a lot of thoughts passed through Jean’s mind. God did Armin look so cute exactly like this, it made him want to kiss the other.
Wait,
WHAT
“Heyyy, Jean are you with me or did you just dissociate right in front of my face?” Armin laughed as he waved one hand in front of Jean’s face.
‘Yeah, that’s it’ Jean thought just before leaning down, placing a chaste kiss on Armin’s lips.
Everything happened too fast for Armin, unfortunately. What just happened?
It didn’t take long until Armin took Jean’s face into his hands, kissing him back, this time a little bit longer. His lips felt soft against Jean’s, and even though their position was a little weird, he was enjoying it.
A few seconds later, they both pulled away slowly, like they feared that if they did a wrong move, this dream was all over.
Jean looked right into Armin’s eyes, looking for some kind of reaction. He knew he’d acted on impulse but, for some reason, the other didn’t seem to back away, so that gave him a bit of hope.
“Wanna play some Mario Kart?” Armin asks softly, not wanting to scare the other away.
And Jean laughed, because there he was, the man he loved. “What question is that? You know I’m always up to it.”
Armin smiled and began to gather his things, pointing out that he was also done for the day, so Jean decided to go to the living room and start preparing everything.
But before he could even walk out of the room– “Hey Jean..?”
“Yes?”
“Are we okay?”
And he smiled back,
“Of course we are, Min”
But were they really?
“Dude, not throwing shade or anything, but your face went like 3 times paler when I mentioned this,” Connie began talking. “Are you sure you’re okay with him?”
“Yes! I mean- Yes, Connie,” Armin jumped slightly at the sudden voice. "Don't worry, I’m just a little nervous-”
“Nervous?! Well, you should’ve started there, man!” Connie chuckled, slightly patting his back with his free hand. “I know something that maybe will put your thoughts away”
Armin sighed as he heard Connie clear his throat, preparing to raise his voice. “Hey everyone! Who wants to play seven minutes in heaven?”
Oh HELL no.
“Connie, I know you’re trying to help but I assure you I'm oka-” Armin began as he put a hand on the other’s shoulder.
“Come on, man, some small game isn’t gonna hurt anyone!”
Only then, Armin realized that he was never going to change Connie’s idea.
They’re already going through the fifth round, and Armin doesn’t even know half the people that went into that bathroom.
He would be lying if he said that he didn’t want to be with Jean alone, in a place where no one would see them, that wasn’t a problem. The problem was what if he has to go with someone he doesn’t know?
The slight thought of it made him shiver.
“Holy shit…” Connie exclaimed as he saw the figures of Historia and Ymir approaching the group, looking kind of giddy. “Y’all took too fucking long in there, we thought one of you was dying or something.”
“Connie, why don’t you shut the fuck up?” Ymir replied shortly, sitting right by her girlfriend’s (? Armin didn’t know them very well to assume things) side.
“Well, why don’t you go back to sticking your tongue down Historia’s throa-”
“Okay I agree with Ymir, shut the fuck up for a bit, will ya?” Jean said as he put one hand right over Connie’s mouth, effectively shutting him up.
“Man, you’re no fun” Connie muffled while trying to get away from Jean.
Jean was about to reply when he got interrupted.
“Jean stop arguing with Connie and let him start another round” Eren said with a sly grin on his face.
“Eren you already had your turn with Mikasa, why don’t you shut your damn mouth?” Jean grumbled, not wanting to put up with the other’s attitude tonight. “It’s not like it’s going to be you two again since this is the last round, so.”
“Oh, are you jealous, Jeanboy?” Eren questioned, clearly trying to annoy him.
Jean almost got up quickly, wanting to go towards Eren, but something stopped him. When he looked to his side, he saw it. He saw him.
Armin, who had been watching from the sidelines the whole time, was holding him from his shirt, looking at him warningly. And who was he not to obey him?
“Jean and Armin, your turn.” Connie said with a smile plastered on his lips,
“What? How?” Armin asked, looking directly at the bottle, the crown of it was pointing at him.
“Connie, are you high?” Jean asked while looking into his eyes.
“Hi” Connie responded.
“What?”
“What”
Jean just sighed and got up, offering his hand to Armin, who was still sitting on the floor.
Armin did not hesitate to take it, letting the other carry him through the hallways and stairs of that house. Once they were in front of the bathroom’s door, Jean spoke up.
“You know, we don’t have to go in if you don’t want to” He acknowledged, slightly caressing the back of Armin’s hand, unconsciously.
“I have no problem with it” Armin answered softly while looking into Jean’s eyes.
“Me neither, then”
And Armin laughed, because only Jean would get this nervous over something silly like this. Them being inside there doesn't mean anything. They didn’t have to do something even if one wanted to. Not if the other didn’t.
So Jean grabbed the doorknob and opened the door, making his way into the bathroom, followed shortly by Armin, who closed the door behind him.
“Damn, this bathroom’s fancy…” Armin muttered under his breath while looking around, just before leaning onto the sink right behind him.
“Indeed it is” He replied gently. A few seconds later, he sat down in front of Armin, on a stool next to the shelves.
They both fell into an “uncomfortable” silence. Neither of them knew what to do, what to say or what to think.
“So…”
“So…”
They said at the same time, and burst out laughing immediately.
“You go first, Min” Jean said while trying to calm down from all that laughing.
“Well, it’s about the other day…” Armin began talking, a bit unsure of how to start. “We don’t have to talk about that right now if you don’t want to, though, but I-” He continued when he noticed how Jean’s body tensed for a second.
“It’s not that, I just didn’t expect it right now, you know.” Jean clarified with a soft smile on his face. “What did you want to say?”
“It’s just some stupid question…” Armin stated quietly, like trying to downplay the matter. “You know me, so don’t worry.” He chuckled slightly.
“It’s not stupid if it has you like this, though.” Jean interferes. “True, I know you, so I also know that this has you thinking about it all day since then.”
And Armin sighs. He knows there’s no way into changing Jean’s thoughts either, so he might as well just be honest with him.
“It’s just…” Armin begins, gaining all of Jean’s attention. “Why did you kiss me that day?”
Silence. The room was filled with silence for a few seconds.
“What do you mean?” Jean questions while he gets up from his seat, approaching him, his eyes never leaving Armin’s figure.
“You know well what I mean, Jean” Armin answers as his eyes look back at him, without moving away when he felt how Jean was approaching.
“Well, yeah,” Jean acknowledged when he was face to face with Armin, close enough to count the freckles spread all over Armin’s face. “But the real question is, why wouldn’t I.” Jean said right before diving onto Armin’s lips.
It was soft, caring, never rushed. It felt like a wave of emotions, a whirlwind of feelings.
One of Jean’s hands was in Armin’s waist, gently caressing over the fabric there, while the other held his face carefully. On the other side, Armin’s arms were hugging Jean’s neck gently, resting over his shoulders.
Armin wouldn’t say that he didn’t expect this, but it actually happening was a whole another deal. He broke away from the kiss briefly when he felt Jean lifting him up, leaving him on top of the sink. He didn’t have time to ask for explanations, not that he wanted to.
A smile appeared on Jean’s lips as he got between Armin’s legs, getting closer to him again. “Sorry love, I thought this might be better.” He apologizes as his hands find their way to where they were before.
Armin shook his head as he grabbed Jean gently from his nape, inching him closer right before kissing him again, this time with more fervor.
They didn’t even know how much time had passed, obviously more than 7 minutes, but if no one was calling them, who were they to get out forcefully. Their mouths moved faster now, lips parting, breath mingling hot between them.
Jean broke their kiss, laughing a bit at how Armin tried to pursue his lips, pouting slightly when he didn’t let him. He looked at him, at his swollen lips from kissing, his tinted cheeks and how those eyes looked at him. Jean was going to lose it.
His hand slid from Armin’s cheek to his jaw, his thumb tracing the edge of his mouth before tugging his chin up for another hungry kiss. And Armin answered with his whole body, arching into him completely, wanting more of him, his hand grabbing a fistful of hair, like he was afraid Jean might disappear.
The kiss grew messy, tongues brushing, and neither willing to slow down. Every shift of Jean’s mouth sent sparks racing through Armin’s spine, pooling low in his stomach.
When Armin pulled away, it wasn’t far, just enough for their foreheads to touch. His breath was ragged, his lips swollen, but even then, he didn’t back away.
“Armin-”
The door opened abruptly, revealing Connie on the other side of it. “DUDEEE GET A FUCKING ROOM, THE TIME’S BEEN UP SINCE 10 MINUTES AGO, DAMN-” He continued rambling.
Jean managed to place a chaste kiss on Armin’s lips right before going to definitely kick Connie’s ass.
The only thing Armin could do was laugh before getting down from his “seat”. He looked at himself in the mirror. Cheeks flushed, lips swollen and his hair was a bit of a mess. The collar of his shirt was also a little disheveled.
‘Oh my fucking god’ Was all he thought. Not that he could do much better, though. Everything that was in his mind was Jean, Jean, Jean. That man was everything he could think about right now.
And who would blame him?
All he did was try to fix his looks and pray for another time alone with the man who occupied his thoughts.
