Chapter 1: You look tired dear

Chapter Text

Your eyes warily glanced over at the clock, watching the seconds tick by as you held in a sigh. Your shift just started and you were already ready to go home. You only got three hours of sleep last night and the headache throbbing in your skull was demanding you do something about it. But you were at work, you didn’t have time to deal with your stress. No time for nonsense.

“Hello, welcome to Coffee Time. What can I get you started with today?” You had slapped on a smile and forced a cheerful tone to your voice as you greeted the next customer. It was two  monsters. Skeletons. Your eyes passed over them quickly. The shorter of the two skeletons was about your height, slightly bigger in diameter than you, but didn’t tower over you like his friend was doing. He was wearing black boots, brown pants, a grey chest plate with spiked shoulder guards. His hands were covered with dark blue gloves and there was a ragged dark blue bandanna across his neck.

The taller of the skeletons seemed to be wearing socks and sandals, a horrible choice of wear you couldn’t help but think, he was wearing a simple black shorts and a dark reddish-purple coat combo. Even though he was looking down at his phone, texting away and not looking at you, you caught a flash of a golden tooth as he chuckled at something on his phone.

You stood there waiting, counting the seconds as the shorter of the two skeletons just stood there staring at you and not speaking. Thankfully there were no customers behind the two but it was starting to get on your nerves. You were a busy person, you had work to do.

“Do you need a minute to look over the menu?” You asked, keeping that same cheerful tone as before. The shorter skeleton slammed his hand down on the counter, causing you to jump, before leaning over, staring at you intently. You leaned back, suddenly very concerned.

“HUMAN, WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO ON A DATE?” The skeleton suddenly asked. The taller skeleton snapped his head up, looking at the shorter one in bewilderment. You stared at the skeleton, wondering if your sleep deprived mind had finally cracked. You stared at the shorter skeleton, your mind short circuiting.

“What?” You so cleverly said, your face dumbfounded.

“I AM TAKING YOU OUT ON A DATE, I WANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.” The skeleton declared, puffing out his chest as he put both hands on his hips. You stared at him in disbelief, stunned into silence for a few seconds.

“That’s…. awfully nice of you.” You said, your lips twisting as you struggled to keep that cheerful tone in your voice. It was getting harder and harder. “But I don’t really have time for dating. I… appreciate the offer.”

“OH NO, YOU MISUNDERSTAND. WE MUST GO OUT ON A DATE, FOR WE ARE SOULMATES. YOU WILL SURELY FALL IN LOVE WITH ME.” The skeleton said, his loud voice throbbing through your already sensitive skull. Gritting your teeth, you lifted a hand to your forehead and started massaging the flesh. Soulmates were a monster thing, not a human thing. This had to be some tactic of flirting for monsters.

“BUT PERHAPS YOU SHOULD SPEND SOME TIME RESTING AT MY HOME BEFOREHAND. YOU LOOK AWFULLY TIRED.” Your eyes flashed open, not realizing you had closed them, as the skeleton spoke once more. You couldn’t help yourself from glaring at the loud skeleton.

“I’ll give you some time to look over the menu.” You hissed out, not bothering to hide the annoyance in your voice, before turning around and walking to the back. You ignored the way the loud skeleton protested as you walked away. Finding Johnny in the back doing dishes, you begged him to switch you spots. He agreed as long as you covered him next Wednesday. You had planned to relax after work Wednesday but you didn’t mind working a double as long as you didn’t have to hear that skeleton demand you go on a date, his voice was making your headache worse. You spent most the rest of your shift in the back, at one point Johnny came back, looking ragged and tired and told you that the skeletons had finally left. You took over for him and finished the rest of your shift rather quickly.

Heading towards the door, you had a cigarette in your mouth and a lighter in your hand. You already had the cigarette lit before you had even walked out the door. Stepping through the door into the cool night air outside, you took a deep drag of your cigarette. Closing the door behind you, you leaned on it as you closed your eyes, relaxing some as you blew out of the smoke. Finally. Your shift was over. You could go home and take a bath, drink some wine, and sleep for a few hours. Then you would just do this all over again tomorrow.

“YOU KNOW THOSE ARE VERY BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH RIGHT?”

Your eyes shot open as you flinched away from the sudden loud voice. Your gaze immediately caught onto the skeleton before and your lips immediately twitched into a sneer. What. The. Hell.

“What are you doing here?” You hissed out, eyes glaring daggers at the skeleton. He didn’t look too intimidating. If push came to shove, you had a taser in your purse that you could use. The moment you had seen him, the hand not holding the cigarette had dived into your purse and your fingers were currently wrapped around said taser.

“I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO GET OFF WORK.” The skeleton said, not even bothering to hide the fact he was waiting for you. Not that he could, you thought as you rolled your eyes. He was making it so obvious. “ANYWAYS, AS YOUR SOULMATE I DEMAND YOU QUIT THAT NASTY AND UNHEALTHY HABIT. PAPYRUS DOES IT AS WELL AND I REFUSE TO HAVE ANOTHER CHAIN SMOKER IN MY HOME.”

“Good thing I’ll never be in your home then.” You mumbled as you leaned back again on the door. You felt too tired to be on full alert around this guy. You just wished he would go away. His voice kept making your headache worse. The skeleton crossed his arms and gave a slight huff as you took another long drag of your cigarette. You briefly wondered if he had heard you as you continued to smoke in silence as the skeleton watched you with growing annoyance pained across his skull.

“I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHY YOU WON’T LISTEN TO YOUR SOULMATE.” The skeleton huffed, actually stamping his foot against the ground. Taking one last drag from your cigarette, you glowered at the skeleton.

“Maybe because you’re not my soulmate.” You snarked, flicking the still burning cigarette towards the skeleton's skull, hoping it would burn him. Your hand was still wrapped tightly around your taser just in case you needed it. To your surprise, the skeleton’s gloved hand came up, catching the cigarette so fast that had you blinked you would’ve missed it. Opening up his glove, he glared down at the snuffed out cigarette before throwing it on the ground and taking a step towards you. You had the taser out in a split second, pointed at the skeleton. He paused, staring at the taser, before looking up at You with an exasperated expression.

“REALLY? DO YOU THINK I WOULD HARM YOU?” He looked offended at the very thought. You pressed the button on the taser, jolting it to life as a warning.

“Listen bud, I don’t know you. You don’t know me. So back the fuck off and leave me alone.” You snapped out, pissed that this guy was cutting into your relaxing time. You could be at home asleep by now if this freak hadn’t decided to stalk you and annoy you with talk about soulmates.

“VERY WELL, I SHALL… SEE YOU AROUND.” The skeleton said, turning around and starting to walk away.

“If I see you again, I’m calling the cops.” You warned, not taking your eyes off of him. He paused before glancing back at you with a bewildered look.

“I’M ONLY TRYING TO HELP YOU, YOU’D REALLY REJECT MY HELP?” Again, he looked offended, like you had personally wronged him. You just glared at him until he sighed and turned back around.

“VERY WELL, WE SHALL DO THIS THE HARD WAY.” He said, which got you even more pissed.

“I told you, if I see you again, I’m calling the cops!” You spat out but he just ignored you as he started walking away. You stood there for a little while longer, still holding the taser, just in case he came back. When you were certain he was gone for good, you relaxed some, lowering your arms but not putting up the taser. Damn, you had to walk home in the dark too. You clutched the taser in your hand tightly as you started to walk home. Although you kept glancing over your shoulder every now and then you still somehow missed it.

A skeleton trailing you all the way home.

*****

Once home, you had drunk yourself into a stupor before passing out on the couch. You were slowly roused from your dead slumber by the feeling of something covering your mouth. You lifted a hand to try and push whatever was against your mouth away but came in contact with a gloved hand instead. Eyes snapping open, you tried to scream at the sight of the skeleton crouched beside you, but all that came out was a muffled noise.

“Calm Down.” The skeleton hissed out, his voice lower than anything he’s said today so far. “I’m Not Going To Hurt You.” You continued to struggle, pulling at his hand to try and release your mouth so you could let out a proper scream for help, but the skeleton was surprisingly much stronger than he looked. Being nothing but bone, he still held you down like it was nothing.

“I Will Be Taking You Home With Me Until You Can Admit That I Am Your Fated Mate As Well As Take Care Of Yourself.” The skeleton mumbled, withdrawing a rag from his pocket. He moved his gloved hand and you quickly sucked in a breath to start screaming again but your scream was muffled as he pressed the rag against your mouth and nose. It smelled sickly sweet and no doubt was coated in what you thought it was. You tried to hold your breath but you could only do that for so long before you had to breathe again. It filled your lungs and the longer you struggled against the skeleton, the more your body started to feel heavy. Your eyelids started to slide shut as you stopped fighting. You stared at the skeleton for as long as you could, willing yourself to stay awake and fight, but you couldn’t stop your eyes from closing completely.

“By The Way, My Name Is Sans.” Was the last thing you heard before darkness completely overtook you.

Chapter Text

You felt like you were floating underwater, too tired to struggle your way up so you just float there, finally relaxing for the first time in years. You laid there, enjoying the silence, enjoying the peace. When suddenly you heard a loud voice. You roused slowly. There was a loud voice and a softer voice talking, you were still too deep under to hear what they were saying. You struggled to wake up properly, to move. You felt a gloved hand on your cheek and you sleepily thought it felt kind of nice. A soft moan left your lips and the talking paused. You could feel the gloved hand brushing over your cheek and the loud voice talking to you softly, you could make out concern in his voice but couldn’t help but slip back into a deep slumber. You floated some more, everything felt so peaceful. When was the last time you had slept so soundly? When you were twelve maybe? Before the divorce? You couldn’t remember.

You came to rather abruptly, heavy eyelids snapping open as you gasped from air. Your throat and mouth were dry. So dry. Your eyes flickered around the room, a bedroom, before locking on what looked like a glass of water on a nightstand beside the bed you were laying on. You jolted for it, your arms weirdly weak and shaky as your trembling hands grabbed onto the glass. It had been sitting there for a minute, most of the ice in it had melted but it was still cold. You gulped it down, your tongue practically crying out in joy as the water touched it. It slid down your throat, cooling and soothing your parched throat. You took another big gulp before pulling back the glass gagging and coughing as the water went in your airways. You closed your eyes, coughing water all over yourself.

“YOU ARE FINALLY AWAKE!” You flinched as you heard the now familiar voice, opening your eyes to see the skeleton had the door halfway open and had his head poked in. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him before suddenly ducking as a glass of water was hurled his way. It smashed against the door and shattered on impact. Sans looked at it in wonderment before turning to look at you. You had gotten out of bed and were standing shaking, holding onto the bed to support as you glared daggers at the skeleton.

“Stay the fuck away from me you freak.” You hissed out your voice dry and cracking, trying to let go of the bed so you could get further away from the skeleton, but your legs crumbled out beneath and you found yourself sitting on the ground. Why did you feel so weak? What had the skeleton done to you?

“BE CAREFUL! YOU’VE BEEN ASLEEP FOR NEARLY THREE DAYS.” Sans said, concern thick in his voice as he started to walk towards you. Three days? What? How? Why? The skeleton continued to walk towards you as you leaned away from him. He started grabbing you and you tried pushing him away but that did nothing as he picked you up, carrying you in his arms. You pushed against his chest and leaned as far away from him as you could without falling. Sans just tightened his hold on you, ensuring that you wouldn’t be falling anytime soon.

“Put me down!” You spat out, weakly thumping your fist on his chest as carried you across the room and towards the door. Your heart was beating in your chest. What did he have planned for you? Was he going to hurt you because you had said no to going out with him? Why couldn’t he just handle your rejection? You laid there, stewing in your fear and anger as Sans opened the door and took you through. Your head whipped around, seeing a long hallway. There were three more doors and a staircase at the end of the hallway. Sans walked past all the doors and headed downstairs with you in his arms. You passed what looked like a living room with a large couch, coffee table, and television set, but your eyes had latched onto a door. There were two windows by the door so you know it led outside. Sans walked past it and into the kitchen. Walking to the table, he sat you down in the chair and you glared at him all the while. There was that taller skeleton, sitting across from you at the circular table.

“ARE YOU HUNGRY? I’LL MAKE YOU SOMETHING LIGHT.” Sans said, moving away from you and opening up the door to the fridge as he shuffled around inside it.

“I’m not hungry, I don’t want anything you make.” You hissed out right before your stomach let out a loud and demanding growl. The taller skeleton chuckled while Sans looked over at you and smirked. Your cheeks burned with embarrassment as you glared down at the table with hate. You hated this. Hated, hated, hated this. You were so weak and helpless. They could do whatever they wanted with you. They could hurt you. They would hurt you. You forced the fear down, instead focusing on the red hot anger bubbling inside you. How dare this freak not take no for an answer. You were doing perfectly fine without his help. Hell! He kidnapped you and drugged you for nearly three fucking days. He had horrible plans for you, you just knew it.

You stewed in your thoughts, glaring at the table as if it had personally wronged you. Time passed in silence, the only sound was Sans moving around the kitchen. Your stomach growled again at the rich smell that soon started to waft across it and clutched it in hopes it would quiet down. You heard Sans walk towards you and you continued to glower down at the table before he set down a bowl of soup in front of you. You glared at the food, considering refusing to eat, but the ache in your stomach and the saliva gathering in your mouth convinced you otherwise. You grabbed the spoon, dipping it in the soup before bringing it up close to your mouth and blowing on it. Fairly certain it was cooled off, you stuck it in your mouth. Your eyes widened immediately at the taste and you couldn’t stop a moan from leaving your lips. It was so flavorful and rich. It was probably the best thing you’ve eaten in years, having survived off fast food and microwaveable meals. Your eyes flickered up to find both the skeletons looking at you and smiling. Your face turned red once more.

“DOES IT TASTE GOOD?” Sans asked, his voice smug. You glared at him before baring your teeth at him. You decided not to respond, instead focusing on your meal. You were careful not to make anymore sounds as you ate, even though it really was good. When you were finished with the bowl, Sans offered you seconds. Even though you were still hungry you vehemently shook your head no. He took the bowl and spoon away and started to do the dishes. You looked around, turning in your chair to stare at the door. You knew you wouldn’t make it if you tried to make a run for it. You were so incredibly weak right now and already you were tired again. You held onto the back of the chair, forcing yourself to not start to nod off. The noises of Sans bustling around the kitchen stopped and you could feel his gaze on you without even turning around.

“DO YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO THE BEDROOM?” Sans asked and you whipped your head around, eyes wide as your heart started pounding in your chest. What did he want to do with you in the bedroom? You could only guess the worst. You gripped the chair, trying to stop from shaking but you couldn’t help but tremble against his gaze. You were much too weak to fight him off. He could do whatever he wanted to you and you just couldn’t fight him. Sans face twisted into concern and confusion as he watched you struggle to control your fear.

“WHAT? WHAT’S WRONG?” He asked, taking a step closer to you, but stopped when he saw you flinch back, almost falling out of your chair as you did.

“she thinks you’re gonna force yourself on her.” The taller skeleton said, you turned to glance at him. His elbow was on the table and he had his chin in the palm of his hand, watching you with an unreadable expression on his face. You quickly turned back to Sans to see he had a hand over his chest and his mouth was gaped open. He looked horrified at the very thought.

“WHAT DO YOU TAKE ME FOR? SOME BARBARAN?” He asked, looking directly at you.

“You kidnapped me!” You shot back, still shaking but you were still angry enough to put lots of venom in your tone. Sans threw his hands up in the air, looking exasperated.

“YOU NEEDED MY HELP! YOU SLEPT FOR NEARLY THREE DAYS BECAUSE YOU WERE SO TIRED!” Sans said, sounding frustrated.

“You drugged me.” You hissed out.

“NOT FOR THREE DAYS. YOU KEPT SLEEPING BECAUSE YOU NEEDED IT.” Sans said, crossing his arms around his chest as he leveled you with a stern look. That got your blood boiling. Who was he to think he needed to take care of you? He obviously wanted something from you. And you knew exactly what it was.

“LET’S JUST GET YOU TO YOUR BED, YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE ABOUT TO FALL OVER.” Sans sighed, starting to walk over to you. Feeling you flinch when he touched you, he hesitated for a moment.

“I’M NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO YOU, JUST CARRY YOU TO YOUR BED.” He said, trying to reassure you, but hearing reassurance from your kidnapper was surprisingly not reassuring.

“I can walk.” You protested, trying to shift away from his touch. But all Sans did was sigh and lean forward to pick you up. His hold was firm but gentle, leaving you enough wiggle room to breathe, but none to struggle out of his grasp. You tried. And gave up quickly with a frustrated growl as all you did was tire yourself out even more. He moved back towards the stairs and started walking up them. Your heart started pounding in your chest the closer you got to the bedroom and you couldn’t help but start to tremble once more. You could feel Sans looking at you, but refused to meet his gaze. Walking through the door, the skeleton’s boots crunches on the broken glass in front of the door.

“I FORGOT ABOUT THAT.” Sans sighed as he moved towards the bed. “DO NOT FRET, I WILL CLEAN IT UP AFTER YOU ARE ASLEEP.” He walked you to the bed which already had the blankets pulled back. He set you down and immediately pulled the blankets over you. You clung to the blankets, staring at your hands as your heart continued to pound in your chest, but all Sans did was tucked you in before taking a step back away from the bed.

“WHAT’S YOUR NAME? I NEVER GOT IT.” Sans asked suddenly and you couldn’t stop yourself from snorting at the question. Yeah, you were his soulmate and he couldn’t help but kidnap you but he didn’t even know your name. You rolled over, putting your back to him as the silence between you two stretched out. You weren’t going to play his soulmate game. If he wanted an obedient fuck toy, he should’ve hired a hooker. Several moments passed where you laid tensely in bed, waiting for him to say or do something to you. But he just sighed and quietly walked out of the room. The door closed behind him and you finally let yourself relax. You couldn’t help but sigh to yourself as your heavy eyelids slid shut and you fell asleep rather quickly.

Chapter Text

You desperately needed to use the restroom. You felt much better when you woke up but the only problem was your bladder. It felt like it was about to burst. When you woke up this morning, you had finally taken notice of the fact that you were in different clothes than what you fell asleep with in your apartment several days ago. That had left shaking with a mixture of rage and fear. You didn’t think they did anything to you while you were asleep. You couldn’t feel any pain or bruises anywhere. But the fact that one, or both, of them had seen you naked had made you want to scream out your frustration. But more urgently than that, you really needed a bathroom.

You went up to the door of the room you were in, noting that there was no more glass on the floor, before pressing your ear against the door. You held your breath, listening for any sounds. When none came, you opened the door and hurriedly poked your head out of it, looking this way and that before starting down the hallway. One of these doors had to lead to a bathroom. Opening the first door, the one closest to the one you had fallen asleep in, all you saw was an empty pristinely clean bedroom. The blanket was tucked so tightly against the bed you almost marveled at it before hurriedly shutting the door. You walked over to the next door, opening it with more haste before freezing. This one was messy, unlike the other one. Clothes and trash were scattered all over the ground. And also unlike the other one, this one was also not empty. The taller skeleton was laying on the bed, his eye sockets closed. You rushed to close the door but before you could move his eye sockets popped open and he was staring right at you. You froze, just staring back at him with building nervousness. With a sigh, the skeleton lifted his arm and waved towards the direction of the last door.

“bathroom.” He mumbled before closing his eye sockets once more and rolling over.

You flushed with embarrassment but closed the door and hurried off to the next. You finished your business quickly, washing your hands as you avoided looking in the mirror. It was never a pretty sight. Baggy eyes, gaunt face, messy and greasy hair. Turning towards the door, you hesitated to open it. The door did have a lock. With a sigh, you leaned back against the door and slid down before you were sitting on the floor. You could take a breather in here. Unless they felt like breaking the door down, you weren’t leaving. Some time passed before you heard a knock at the door.

“DARLING, ARE YOU OKAY IN THERE?” Sans said and you cringed at the pet name.

“Just leave me alone.” You tried to put as much venom into your words as you could but really you just sounded exhausted. You were, truthfully, exhausted. Once you got free, if you ever got free and they weren’t just considering murdering you outright, then you’d surely come back to no jobs. You have no savings. Your landlord would kick you out. It’s not like you could move back in with your parents. Mom was with that creep and dad… well dad never really cared about being a father to you after the divorce. You’d be homeless. Utterly lost with no one and it was these freaks fault. You didn’t realize you were crying until a small hiccuped sob left your throat.

“DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE?” The skeleton asked, his voice concerned and uncertain. No, you really didn’t. You wanted someone to hug you tightly and tell you everything was going to be okay. That you’d make it through this. That they’d take care of you. Instead you felt the familiar hot red anger rise up in you.

“Just leave me the fuck alone!” You spat out, wiping angrily at your face before rubbing hard at your eyes as if that would force them to stop leaking tears.

You heard a soft “OKAY.” from Sans and then nothing more. You assumed he had left as you continued to sit in the bathroom feeling miserable. At some point you had wrapped your arms around your legs and buried your face in your knees. You stayed that way for some time, nearly dozing off once or twice, but still not moving from the bathroom. You weren’t sure how long you were in there for, hours maybe. You were hungry and tired again but you still didn’t make a move to leave.

“alright, you’re starting to worry my bro.” Your head snapped up, a scream leaving your lips as you see the taller skeleton in the bathroom with you. Your hand pressed against your chest, feeling your heart hammering away as your eyes flickered around the bathroom. How the hell had he gotten in?

“come on, let’s get up and go have lunch. bro made some chicken soup for you.” The skeleton took a step towards you, gesturing for you to stand up.

“What- how-?” You gasped out, your heart still running a mile a minute before the skeleton just leaned over, grabbed your arm and forced you to stand.

“magic alright. now let’s go before sans starts anxiously cleaning. he’ll try to clean my room and i got everything where it’s supposed to go. by the way, my name’s papyrus. not sure if you caught that yesterday or not.” The so called Papyrus yanked you away from the door, making you stumble as he opened the door and pulled you through into the hallway. Then he looked down at you with a thoughtful expression.

“you still look pretty weak.” He mumbled, almost as if to himself. You bristled at his comment but didn’t have time as he leaned over, picked you up, and threw you over his shoulder. You gasped at the sudden movement and found yourself grasping at the skeleton's hoodie as he stood up fully. You were so far from the ground now.

“Put me down!” You shrieked, but not daring to try and wiggle your way down on your own. You’d end up just hurting yourself if you tried. The skeleton hummed slightly, one hand gripping you and keeping you in place, ignoring you as he trotted down the stairs. On the last step you heard a horrified gasp coming from Sans.

“BE CAREFUL WITH HER!” He hissed out. “PUT HER DOWN RIGHT NOW BEFORE YOU DROP HER.” For the first time, you found yourself agreeing with your kidnapper. Papyrus lowered you to the ground and as soon as your feet touched the floor you stepped back away from the taller skeleton, glaring daggers at him at the while.

“PLEASE, SIT. I’M SURE YOU’RE HUNGRY. THIS WILL TASTE EVEN BETTER THAN WHAT I MADE YESTERDAY.” Sans said, not touching you but standing close enough to make you uncomfortable as he gestured for you to take a seat. You walked glumly over to the seat before plopping down and glowering at the two skeletons. So far, all they’ve done to you was let you sleep and eat. What exactly did they want from you? It was making you more nervous the longer that question went unanswered. And being nervous like this just made you more prone to angry outbursts. Sans walked by you and set a bowl in front of you. It smelled divine, much to your annoyance. You dipped your spoon in it, trying not to shift uncomfortably over the weight of Sans’ gaze on you. You ate in silence, not making any comment on the food. Although, it really was good. Sans gave Papyrus a bowl and sat beside him before the two started chatting.

“YES, CHARA WAS TELLING ME THE OTHER DAY ABOUT HOW ASGORE AND TORIEL HAVE GONE ON A DATE RECENTLY.” Sans said, talking about people you had no clue about. You had briefly heard about Chara, the human ambassador for monsters. But you never had time to keep up with human politics, much less monster ones.

“really, you think they’ll get back together after all this time?” Papyrus asked before taking another bite of his soup.

“I’M SURE IT’LL WORK OUT. THEY ARE SOULMATES AFTERALL.” Sans said, his eyelights flickering to you pointedly. You quickly looked down at your food, scowling at it like it had personally wronged you. The two skeletons continued to talk about people you didn’t know. Once you had finished your soup, Sans continued the conversation as he got up and refilled your bowl before setting it back in front of you without a word to you before sitting down beside the taller skeleton. You glared at the food, considering not eating it. But the continued hunger in your stomach convinced you to pick your spoon back up and to glumly start eating again. You ate in silence, listening to the two talk.

You finished eating and pushed your bowl away, feeling completely full for the first time in a very long time. Time ticked by as you warily looked at the two skeletons talking. You could see Sans occasionally glancing at you from the corner of his eye sockets.

“welp bro, i gotta get going. undyne wanted to see me at the lab to ask me a few questions.” You watched as Papyrus stood up. He caught your eye, grinned, winked, and just completely disappeared. You jolted on the spot, head whipping around as your eyes flickered across the kitchen. Where the hell had he gone? You kept glancing around before your gaze landed on Sans and you froze. You were alone with him. You glared at him, forcing yourself not to start shaking on the spot.

“HOW WAS THE FOOD?” Sans asked, looking at you curiously. You continued to stare at him as the silence stretched out between you two before you finally spoke.

“It was… fine.” You admitted begrudgingly, still glaring at Sans. You briefly wondered if maybe you shouldn’t be provoking your kidnapper. But you almost wished he would do something. Just so you could stop waiting for it to happen. The waiting was killing you.

“IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN GET YOU THAT WOULD MAKE YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE HERE?” Sans asked, standing up and walking over to you so he could sit closer to you. You leaned away from him as he came closer.

“I want a phone.” You said immediately to which Sans sighed at.

“YOU KNOW I’M NOT GONNA GIVE YOU THAT. ANYTHING SUCH AS BOOKS, OR MAYBE A GAMING CONSOLE. ANYTHING YOU WANT.” Sans said, looking at you expectantly. You looked down and bit down on your bottom lip.

“What do you want if I ask for something?” You mumbled out, feeling like this was a trap. You heard Sans let out an irritated huff at your question. You glanced up to see him running a gloved hand along his skull, his face scrunched up in annoyance.

“NOTHING!” He huffed out. “IS IT SO WRONG TO WANT MY SOULMATE TO FEEL COMFORTABLE IN MY HOME?” Sans griped out, not looking at you as he continued to look annoyed at your question. You sat there, still chewing on your bottom lip as you looked Sans over. He was obviously lying. But shouldn’t you test it out? Catch him in his lie. Let him do what he was going to do just to get it over with and wait until he gets bored of you. You could start over at a homeless shelter. It wouldn’t be the first time.

“I want books.” You mumbled. “Romance books.” It’s been a while since you’ve been able to relax and read. You should try and enjoy this while it lasts. You glanced up and saw Sans smiling softly at you.

Much to your confusion, your heart skipped a beat as you stared at Sans.

Two more days passed without incident. You gradually got your strength back and started feeling better than you had in a long time. The food was delicious. You got to sleep in for however long you wanted. You spent most of your time just lounging around and reading. Which you were currently doing now. You had piled up the pillows to lean back on as you laid across the bed and read. It was a classic romance book. It had a touch of fantasy to it, which was nice. You were reading when the door suddenly opened. You glanced up, a glare already in place as you expected to see Sans. The skeleton just wouldn’t leave you alone. Sometimes he would just stand there and watch you read, not saying anything. It made you annoyed and nervous all at once.

What did he want from you?

But when you glanced up you saw Papyrus standing there instead. He was leaning on the doorway, staring at you with an unreadable expression on his face.

“mind if i come in?” He asked. You bookmarked your place before closing the book and setting it down by your side. You looked Papyrus over warily.

“Do what you want.” You mumbled warily, trying not to stiffen as Papyrus approached you. Your nervousness rose as he walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. You sat up, pulling your legs towards you as you wrapped your arms around them. Your eyes never left Papyrus as you were suddenly on high alert.

“yea, i think something bad happened to you.” Papyrus said, his voice blunt as he watched you. You stiffened, unsure of what he was talking about. “we’ve done nothing to you, and have told you we won’t do anything to you, but you’re still on such high alert. you’re expecting us to hurt you.” Papyrus leaned closer to you and you jolted back at the sudden movement. “someone’s hurt you before haven’t they?” Papyrus asked, staring at you intently. You felt a sudden rush of rage consume you as you lips peeled back into a sneer.

“What the fuck do you know about me?” You hissed out, your body trembling with anger as you glared hatefully at the tall skeleton. “You kidnapped me and one of you is claiming I’m his soulmate. Of fucking course I’m terrified of you both. It’s not like me saying no would do anything if I’m fucking locked up here in god knows where.”

Papyrus continued to stare at you, his head tilted slightly as if he were studying you. You continued to sneer and glare at him with as much hate as you could muster. You absolutely hated how he had hit the nail on the head. He was right. But what gave him the right to talk about it like he knew you. He doesn’t know anything about what you’ve been through. It doesn’t matter what these skeletons do to you. You’d get through it. You’d survive. You always did.

“you’re looking better. that day we saw you at the cafe, you looked shit.” Papyrus said bluntly. You bristled and opened your mouth to shoot something back but Papyrus just held up his hand to stop you before you continued. “yea, my bro shouldn’t have kidnapped you but he’s such a freaking control freak and even i could tell you were going to be stubborn about getting help from anyone. but you gotta admit it’s been pretty cushy so far, so cut my brother some slack.”

So they were brothers. You had been wondering.

“Should I suck his dick while I’m at it.” You sneered. “I’m not stupid, I know what you both want from me. You think I’ll just-“

“there you go again. you know what they say about assuming huh?” Papyrus sighed, cutting you off as he ran a hand across his skull. “trust me, i don’t want anything from you. except maybe to treat my bro a bit better. no offense to him, but he’s usually an asshole. he’s been treating you far better than he treats even some of his friends. you don’t gotta feel grateful or anything. he did kidnap you. but cut him some slack. he’s trying.”

You just stared at Papyrus as you processed his words. The way he was talking, he almost made it sound like you were special to Sans. You glanced down, glaring at your knees as you scowled. What stupid thoughts. You were just brought here to be toyed with. They’d get rid of you once they thought you were broken. You refused to give them the satisfaction of breaking you. You continued to glare down at your knees as Papyrus watched you. You heard him sigh before the bed creaked as he got off of it. Without another word, he left the room, leaving you to mull over his words. You finally looked up, glancing towards the open door as you chewed on your bottom lip. The waiting was killing you. Waiting and wondering when they’d do it. When they would hold you down and take what they wanted from you. Your arms tightened around your legs as you felt panic start to overcome you.

You felt like a kid again. Shaking in your bed with tears in your eyes as you wondered if your stepdad would visit you tonight. Feeling wetness run down your cheek you roughly rubbed your face against your shoulder as you grit your teeth. You forced the fear down, choking it in your chest as your eyes burned with hate as you glared at the door. Your anger exploded when you saw Sans poke his head through the door, his eyelights curious as he glanced at you. Seeing your expression, Sans’ eye sockets widened with concern as he took a step inside the room. You leapt up, pillow in hand as you hurled it at him.

You felt like a caged animal, choking on your fear as you focused on the utter rage in your chest. You weren’t weak. They would break you.

“Get out!” You screamed, stamping your feet against the ground as he continued to stand there, staring at you with that damned fake concern. “Just either do it already or leave me the fuck alone.” You hissed, storming up to him and jamming a finger against his chest. Your heart was pounding in your own chest. You were provoking him. You wanted him to do it. To just get it over with already.

“Just fucking do it already.” Your voice broke as tears started spilling down your cheeks. That fear you are trying so desperately to choke down washed over you as you started shaking. “Just rape me and get it over with.” You choked out, squeezing your eyes shut as Sans reached for you. You waited for him to throw you towards the bed, rip your clothes off, and roughly take you right then and there. It would hurt. You’d feel miserable afterwards. But you wouldn’t break.

Instead you found yourself stiffening as Sans wrapped you in a hug. One arm was wrapped around your back as he held you in place while the other one was tenderly petting your head. You shudder at the feeling of being touched so gently, not at all unpleasantly. In a moment of weakness, you found yourself wrapping your arms around Sans, clinging to him like a lifeline as you buried your head into his shoulder and started sobbing.

In that moment you almost felt safe.

“I’m Not Gonna Hurt You.” Sans mumbled, probably for the dozenth time as he continued to pet your head, occasionally running his fingers through your hair. Your hair was so soft, he wanted to touch it all the time. Comb it for you and style it as well. He wondered if you would let him do that for you.

You had stopped sobbing, making those awful heart wrenching wailing sounds that stabbed at Sans’ soul, but from the dampness on Sans’ shoulder he could tell you were still crying.

You thought he was going to rape you? That very thought sent a shiver of disgust through Sans. He was many things. Aggressive, pushy, a control freak, maybe a little mean at times, but a rapist? Sans had been offended the first time you had implied he would take you by force. But just watching you these last few days both Papyrus and Sans came to the same conclusion.

Someone had hurt you in the past.

It burned Sans’ soul to think about it. It kept him awake at night wondering just what had been done to you.

He’d kill whoever did this to you.
