Chapter 1

Summary:

after a long day of work, you encounter a villain who tries to claim you are his girlfriend.
not only that, but you bump into heroes along the way who end up helping you.

Chapter Text

being quirkless was one thing, but it was another of the constant feeling of being watched. while you knew you weren't being stalked personally.

the breathing of the pro heroes that walked through the streets waiting for any danger to happen was all you could focus on sometimes.

don't get it wrong, you appreciated their work. you truly admired pro heroes; you had wish you'd become one when you were younger.

but as you grew up, living a painfully normal life with no quirk. that dream ultimately felt shut down.

but that did not stop you from continuing with schooling, getting a degree and living another life for yourself.

you were content with your way of living; you had a normal, stable job.

you lived on your own in the city. nothing to worry, other than yourself.

but that was all going to change before you knew it.

-

it had been any other normal day for you. as you finished your shift at your job, you left the building and checked the time.

it was around 8 pm now, the breeze of the slightly warm yet cooling air felt perfect on your face.

you did your usual stroll of walking through city back to your apartment. tall buildings surrounding you and multiple streetlights that lit up the whole city.

your apartment wasn't far from your job and walking was something you favored a lot.

normally, anyone would be anxious walking these streets at night but with so many lights and all the pro heroes that strolled around, what could possibly happen?

the noises mixed of chatter from citizens who walked the city at night, the cars honking at other cars to move in traffic, and the very quiet music you could hear from nearby restaurants.

you were approximately a few minutes from home, the further you walked, the quieter it got from all the normal city sounds.

you rummaged in your bag for a split second to grab your phone when all of the sudden, you bumped right into someone.

you smacked directly into the hard presence; you stumbled back a few steps. you stopped rummaging which you were now holding your phone.

looking straight ahead now, rubbing your forehead with your other hand from the impact. the person you had bumped into was staring straight down at you.

you realized that hard presence was their chest, you glanced up at the person standing before you.

it was a random pedestrian, or so you thought. "i'm sorry sir, i wasn't paying attention. that's my fault."

you heard a scoff escape from his mouth, he inched closer to you and you took a step back.

you moved your hand down from your forehead, but you never broke eye contact. "you should be a little more careful, yeah?"

you could feel yourself internally roll your eyes. you took a long pause, "i already apologized, it was an honest mistake. so how about we both go about our nights?"

he finally stopped stepping towards you and you stopped as well. you waited for a reply and when he didn't give you one, you finally broke eye contact with him and attempted to walk around him.

he stuck his arm out which was low enough to hit your stomach, preventing you from moving.

you tilted your head and now the once stoic looking guy had a devilish grin on his face. "are you serious?" you mumbled in a breath.

you stuck your phone into your back pocket, this wasn't your first encounter dealing with what people call "villains" but to you, he was nothing more than a pester in your night.

"how about we take a look in this little ba-" he started but before he could finish that sentence, you elbowed him as hard as you could in his ribs.

he moved his arm fast from your waist, now holding his aching pain.

that's when you decided to book it down the street as fast you could. you knew although you were close to home, you couldn't possibly run there right now. as you ran, you can hear the man chasing after you.

while you were trying to best as fast as you could, he was faster. it felt as if he caught up in almost a spilt second and you felt as if this was the end.

you turned the corner of the street and all of the sudden, you bumped into a new body.

can i catch a fucking break? you thought to yourself.

since the impact was harder than the impact of the other guy, you ended up falling directly on your bum and landed on your hands.

"oh! i'm sorry there ma'am. i didn't expect someone to come flying around the corner!" the man said above you.

you looked up at him, he stood there with his hand held out to you. as you grabbed onto it, you took note of his appearance. he had red spikey hair, tan skin, a mask that covered around his mouth, and his chest was very much exposed.

as he pulled you up, you stood up and brushed yourself off. you didn't get a chance to say anything to the man who just had helped you before you heard the other man from before coming directly behind you.

"oh there you are, babe. i can't believe you just ran away!" the guy said cheerfully, you didn't turn around, but he slowly approached.

you look at the red spikey hair man directly in his eyes and mouthed, "i don't know that man."

but he didn't see you say that as he focused on the guy behind you. you felt as the guy was now directly behind you, you felt a strong hand on your shoulder which forced you turned your head. he was looking down at you, attempting to give a soft smile.

although you didn't notice before, there was another man next to the red spikey haired one. a blonde one.

while one of the heroes hadn't been paying his full attention to you, one of them was staring directly at you.

"are you sure you know this woman, asshole?" he spat out, you turned your head back around and now you noticed him.

he lifted his hand up to remove the hand that was once your shoulder. he never let go of the guy despite how hard he tried to get out of his grip.

you took note of his appearance too, nice blonde spikey-ish hair, he didn't have anything on his face, but he wore a long sleeve black top with a big orange X in the middle of it.

"what! of course i do, tell them babe!" the guy protested, the blonde looked down at you. the red eyes he had stared directly into yours.

the guy who was behind you couldn't see what you did, but all you did was mouth "no."

that was all you needed to do before the blonde looked back at the man standing behind you. while he was still holding his wrist after he removed his hand from your shoulder, in a swift move, he pressed him against the nearby wall.

"what the fuck man! that's my girlfriend!" he yelled as his face was pressed against the wall, attempting to get out of his grip. that's when you realized you were now with heroes out of coincidence.

before you knew it, you were sitting on the ground, and the red spikey haired guy had already called the police. he kneeled down in front of you asking you questions about what happened.

you told him, you felt as if this wasn't a real serious case, but it was better safe than sorry.

you heard as the sirens had now approached, and the scene was filled. the red spikey haired hero who took down your story reported it to the police at the scene.

you had to explain to them more in detail regarding what happened but when you were done, you pushed yourself off the ground. as you went to reach for your phone from your back pocket.

pulling it out, you realized it had cracked a little due to the fall from earlier. you sighed then you approached the blonde pro hero and tapped his shoulder.

he turned around which he was now looking at you, "what?"

"am i good to go now?" you asked and before he thought of replying, he turned back towards the officer he was talking to and finished up the conversation.

what felt like forever was finished eventually and he turned back towards you, "yeah, let's go."

"you don't have to walk me. i'm fine on my own." you replied as he took lead of the walk.

he sighed, not turning around. "i know i don't have to, it's protocol so i don't have a choice here."

"well, shouldn't i be taking the lead here? it's not like you know where i live." you replied almost in a chuckle. he stopped walking now, he turned around and not even a glance at you, he walked behind you reluctantly.

as we walked down each street, you realized how much farther you ran in the opposite direction of your apartment.

the streets were quieter now since you weren't in the heart of the city anymore, you didn't speak a word to each other the whole walk.

the more you thought of the heroes who helped you, you couldn't pin it on if you knew who they were.

while you did admire the heroes, sometimes you strained yourself from keeping too many tabs on them for your own benefit of feeling disappointed it wasn't you.

you knew of some, but you couldn't always put a name to a face. both of you finally reached the street which your apartment was on, you would occasionally turn your head to see if he was still there, he moved so silently that you weren't sure.

he obviously was, he walked a little hunched over and had his hands shoved into his pants pockets. you walked a few doors down until you stopped, you had finally reached the staircase of your apartment complex.

you heard as his feet as they also came to a halt, you took one step on the stairs and turned back to look at him.

he was already looking at you, he took his hand out of his pocket and scratched the back of his neck. "my colleague's mistake of not noticing you had mouth the situation to him, he wasn't paying attention to you although you ran into him."

you only stared back giving him a little giggle. "it's not an issue at all. it was a fifty-fifty chance he'd notice especially since i hadn't verbally spoke. i know probably seeing a man calling me his girlfriend would've made more sense than me being followed by a random guy."

he only sighed a deep breath, "well it's our job as heroes to notice everything of a situation. i am just satisfied the situation didn't get more out of hand. the guy was a dumbass." you could only stare at him.

"do all heroes speak of villains that way?" you replied, he did nothing but shake his head slowly and look away.

"may i know your hero name? i'd like to appreciate from a distance the hero who happened to help me tonight."

he turned his head back to you, he almost had a glare in his eyes before he huffed out quietly but you could hear it, "how do you not know who i am?"

he rolled his eyes, he began to walk away not before saying, "just call me ground zero."

Chapter 2

Summary:

after the incident that occurred the day previously,
you manage to find your way back to the same pro heroes you met yesterday.

but one of them seems to have their interest piqued more in you than the other.

Chapter Text

it was another day of work again; you left your office building around 3 pm to go on break. you worked in this tall building; each floor consisted of a different level of careers.

you had received your degree in cybersecurity, so you were stuck on the sixth floor.

you loved your job. you always loved technology, so this was perfectly fitting for you.

while you still wish you had a quirk, living a quirkless life wasn't all too bad either. as you walked down through the streets, you entered a little cafe shop.

this place was your typical go-to for your break and you were considered a regular here. you stood in the small line that was forming in front of the counter.

you pulled out your phone from your pocket and saw the damage.

you ultimately remember what happened yesterday, while the situation was nerve wracking you didn't allow it to sour your whole week. you had experienced similar encounters before but never had been chased.

the line moved and it was finally your turn. the cashier almost recognized you immediately, they gave a warm smile. "the usual, y/n?"

"yes, please. thank you." you replied as you paid, you moved off to the side.

as you walked over, you felt as someone ever so gently tap on your arm, "excuse me, ma'am?"

you turned your head to the side and almost immediately recognized the red spikey hair you saw last night. what were the chances.

you looked down and notice that the man was holding what seemed to be some cash, you checked your pocket to realize it had been the change the cashier gave you.

you grabbed the cash, and he dropped his arm.

"thank you. who knew that you'd be helping me again?" you giggled, as you looked up at him, he tilted his head almost like he didn't understand what you meant.

shit, was i not supposed to discuss this outside of his job? you thought to yourself when you realized he wasn't in the same outfit he had been in last night; he was in casual clothing.

the more intently he stared at you, it finally hit him when he recognized your face.

"oh! i remember now, sorry. sometimes i get a little brain fog. but what a coincidence! are you alright?" he replied almost in a big smile.

"yeah! i appreciate all your help. and especially your help now, you could've easily taken the money and i would've never known." you shoved the money into your pocket making sure it had no way of escaping.

"now, that wouldn't be very hero-like of me, would it?" he laughed, "but i'm glad everything was alright from last night. that man seemed to be very manly that i was concerned what would've happened had it gone more chaotic."

before you had a chance to reply, you heard as the barista yelled out your name for the order. you walked to the front, grabbing your pastry of choice and your drink of choice. you walked back to the red haired man.

"well, now that you've heard my name, what's yours? if that's alright to ask." you questioned as you took a sip out of your drink.

"the name is kirishima! hero name is red riot." he said his hero name in a whisper to not attract any attention.

"super cool! well once again, thank you-"

"are you ready to go or what, shitty hair?" you heard from behind kirishima, as you poked your head from over his arm, you saw the same blonde man you had saw last night.

kirishima turned around and once he did, the blonde man now had saw you.

you watched as his eyes dart between both you and kirishima, and without another word, he just stood there.

it was now an awkward silence; you took another slow sip of your drink. "okay... well i should head back to work now." you said awkwardly.

kirishima turned back towards you giving you a soft smile. "of course, don't let us keep you waiting. have a good rest of your day y/n!" he said cheerfully.

you gave him a soft smile back. you looked at the blonde which you had only known by his hero name. "nice to meet you, kirishima and goodbye to you, ground zero."

"ground zero?" kirishima questioned, giving you a puzzled look. he looked back at the blonde who was just standing there now wide-eyed.

this made kirishima almost burst out in laughter, "don't you mean great explosion-"

before he had the chance to finish his sentence, the blonde haired man had pinched kirishima's arm which forced him to yelp. you didn't know what to do other than leave, so you turned around and walked out.

thinking to yourself, what is a great explosion?

-

after a long shift of work, you exited your building around 9 pm this time. while the streets were still packed with people, it wasn't too packed.

you began walking home again, there was something more peaceful about walking than taking transit.

as you got further, you remembered the events from yesterday. this time, you felt just a little more paranoid while walking but nevertheless, you held your head high. the more you walked again, the quieter it got.

you heard loud commotion behind you, being the curious person you tend to be sometimes. you glanced behind you and noticed that there was some argument going on at a nearby bar you lived close to.

you didn't stop walking though, it was best not to interfere with something you had no connection with and all you wanted to do was get home safe.

the commotion got louder and all of the sudden you heard two familiar voices.

"what's the issue here, asshole?!" the man yelled, you could almost notice who it was due to vulgar language used. now, this made you stop in your tracks and turn around fully.

you noticed him, ground zero and red riot both confronting the drunkard.

"this douchebag was cut off because he's too goddamn drunk, then he attempted to go behind the bar to steal a drink! so i told him to get out of my bar and he refused, i had security escort him out and now he's throwing a fit!" the owner of the bar yelled.

while this really shouldn't be any of your business, you couldn't help but watch the scene.

after all, what’s the worst that could happen? there were two pro heroes right in front of your eyes.

"alright man, let's go. you can't steal alcohol and if you were cut off, they have the right to kick you out." red riot told the drunkard as nicely as he could. all of the sudden, the drunkard whipped around as fast as he could with his fist ready.

all of the sudden, red riot lifted up his arm to block the punch and all of the sudden you heard, "OUC- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?"

although you were a good distance away, you saw as red riot's skin was hardened and almost shattered the guy's knuckles.

as the drunkard fell to his knees, he held the pain he felt on his knuckles. ground zero rolled his eyes, "you got it from here?"

"totally!" red riot said as he took care of the rest of the situation. the owner profusely thanked them both, red riot had no problem accepting the kind words but ground zero did nothing but scoff.

as ground zero was getting ready to leave, he lifted his head from the situation. like he could sense you, he turned his head exactly in your direction, and was now staring at you.

it caught you completely off guard. you immediately broke eye contact with him, turned around as fast as you could and continued your walk home.

as you approached the staircase to your apartment complex, you couldn't help but feel a presence behind you. trying to ignore it, you slowly walked up the steps.

you suddenly heard a sound behind you; you moved as fast as you could into your bag to reach for the pepper spray you had now carried due to what happened yesterday.

you always owned it, but you never thought you'd need to carry it. you let it rot away in your home until yesterday occurred so now it felt like the perfect time to actually carry it.

you whipped around as fast as you could, holding the pepper spray with your hands and extending your arms out. eyes shut closed for whatever reason.

"whoa! what the fuck are you doing!" the man yelled, once again. the vulgar language made you realize who it was.

you slowly opened your eyes revealing the man you knew as ground zero.

"aw man, i'm sorry! i didn't know it was you. forgive me." you pleaded as you dropped your arms. you pushed the pepper spray back into your bag.

he had his hands up in defense to show he wasn't trying to harm you, he suddenly dropped them.

now you both stood in silence, you realized he had followed you. "what are you doing here? i know you saw me watching the scene but i don't think that means you get to follow me."

you watched his expression go from annoyance, shock, and ultimately sighing. "my bad, asshole. i just felt wrong letting you walk alone after what had occurred yesterday."

"hey, i know i look like a defenseless girl but i know a thing or two! i can totally defend myself."

"yeah... exactly with what? that pepper spray?" he scoffed which allowed you to roll your eyes. somehow, this was really starting to bother you.

"well, at least i'm not the one following someone at night!"

"i wasn't following-"

"you were-"

"no-"

"yes-"

you both went back and forth before you finally dropped it by groaning out of frustration. "is this how you treat all normal abiding citizens?"

"no, but this is how i treat ones who are pissing me off." he gritted through his teeth. this is what eventually set you off.

"pissing you off? you're the one who could've just told me you were following me or trying to keep me safe!" you exclaimed as you pointed at him. he didn't seem to like that.

he grabbed your hand, not roughly but not as soft either. you could feel the roughness of his gloves on your hand.

you yanked your hand away and he dropped his hand, it was like he didn't realize what he did.

he took a deep breath, "listen- i should've said something. my bad. but it was protocol again, you know?"

you stared at him, all of the sudden bursting out of laughter. this caused him to groan and furrow his eyebrows at you.

you laughed so hard that tears came out, and he just stood there watching you. as you wiped the tear away, you looked at him.

"i'm sorry- that just caught me off guard. who's giving the protocol to follow home a girl with no real warning? but honestly, don't worry. i'm not upset anymore, thanks for looking out for me but next time, just feel free to tell me. i don't bite." you said through breaths of laughter.

before he could reply, you heard someone talking and realized he had some sort of earphone in.

you couldn't really hear what the voice said, but based on his reaction, he had to go. he looked back at you and rolled his eyes.

"get inside now, idiot. we don't need to same incident as before." he mumbled as he turned around, you just gave a small smile to yourself.

"goodbye again, ground zero." as you turned around to head into the door, you heard him reply.

"it's bakugo. you don't need to keep addressing my hero name."

Chapter 3

Summary:

you decide to meet up with an old friend, who happens to be a pro hero.
you plan for a night of fun, but what you don't expect is to run into people who you already know without an introduction needed.

Chapter Text

it was finally friday which meant the weekend was approaching. your favorite time of the week to do nothing but relax at home.

sometimes you felt bored with your life though, you hadn't talked to your parents in a while.

no real reason though, just living on your own made you do things more independently.

you had a few close friends, which you realize you hadn't talked to them in a little either.

as you were at work, you pulled out your phone and texted your friend, mina.

y/n: hey there

mina: wow! speak of the devil- i was just talking about you to a close friend. what's up?

y/n: hope you were saying nothing but good things about me lol!

but i was thinking i haven't seen you in a while, what are you up to?

mina: i know! actually now that you mention it, i'm in your city for work.

how about we meet up tonight? do you still work at that building?

y/n: i do! i haven't seen you in forever so i'm glad to know you're back.

i believe i get off a little earlier than usual today since it's friday and they're usually nicer on fridays lol.

we could meet somewhere, any place you had in mind?

mina: oh don't you even worry. i'll text you the details later. see you later

y/n: see you, so excited :)

shutting your phone off before continuing the final hours of your shift, all you could think of how excited you were to see a friend of yours again.

mina was one of the closest friends you ever made, you had met her when you were younger and grew up together.

but due to difficulties, you moved around a lot and wasn't able to see her as much as you could anymore.

you knew she attended the infamous school, U.A. for heroes which you were so proud of her.

while you could still feel the guilt of not being there with her, you were nonetheless proud of her.

that's when things eventually hit the fan when the whole war broke out, and you knew mina's class was the one of many fighting.

you were worried constantly for her; you couldn't lose the closest person to you.

once the war had subsided, you contacted her, and she was nothing more than welcoming to you again.

you were glad to know she was alive and still continuing her hero work. she eventually traveled all over the country helping out as much as she could.

she was the kind of friend where you didn't have to talk to her every second of the day, and that was something you loved about her because when you both finally saw each other again, it felt as if there was never any distance.

thinking of the friendship you had with her warmed your heart. you smiled and thought of what tonight was going to entail, while she was a peach.

she knew how to have fun for sure.

-

as expected, you did get off earlier than usual. this time, you made no excuses for stops and headed straight home.

once doing so, you showered and ate a hefty meal to keep yourself full for the night.

as you were drying your hair, you heard a ding from your phone.

mina: hey girl! meet me here at 8 pm, expect to have tons of fun tonight.

y/n: is there ever a time with you where it's not fun?

mina: you know, you're right!

you laughed to yourself after reading her text. the address she had sent was a pretty popular bar and club that you two had attended before.

it wasn't too far from your home, so you knew that walking was no issue for you.

checking the time, it was already 7 pm.

you finished drying your hair. you were in a robe as you searched through your closet what to wear tonight. since it was just a little colder in the nights, you opted for a pair of jeans and nice halter tank top.

usually the bar was hotter inside, but walking home was going to be a small distance so that's why you chose the jeans.

putting on the outfit, you threw on your favorite going out boots. you headed back into the bathroom where you put on a small amount of makeup.

as you did the final touches, checking the time now was 7:45 pm which was perfect timing.

you grabbed your purse and as you left your apartment, you entered the address, and it was only a 10-minute walk.

after the walk, you approached the bar. it was seemingly busy due to the friday night and a lot of people had just got out of work.

you opened the door, walked towards the bar where the stools were and took a seat.

"and what can i get for you there, love?" the bartender said, you looked up at her and smiled. you replied telling her your favorite alcoholic drink of choice. seconds later, she came back and handed you the drink.

you checked the time, it was now 8 pm. you looked towards the door and right on time, mina entered.

her skin was still pink as ever, but her hair was longer now and the two little horns that were your favorite part of her were longer as well.

she instantly made eye contact with you, a big smile coming over her face. "y/n!" she exclaimed as she made her way through the crowd of people to you.

you got out of your seat, her arms wide opened which you fell into.

one of the best things about her was she gave the best hugs. after the hug, you guys pulled apart and she took a seat beside you.

"i can't believe this! you look great, i missed you so much." she told you as the bartender came over to take her drink order.

"thank you so much! but look at you! long hair suits you so much." you took her, she took a sip of her drink, and you saw as a little red hit her pink cheeks.

the more you guys talked, the more you realized this is exactly what you needed.

you caught up on a lot with her, and although it lingered in your mind, you always wondered how she felt regarding what happened after the war.

but you never brought it up to her first, you waited until she mentioned it usually.

you talked about all you could with her, you mentioned the most recent thing you had gone through, and she felt remorse for you, but you brushed it off. she sighed as she ordered another drink for the two of you.

"so what are you doing here again?" you questioned, she looked at you like she almost forgot an important detail.

"oh i didn't tell you! well for starters, i'm here for work as they called me back here to help a little more. but other than that, i met up with an old friend of mine who still lives around here!" she exclaimed, if there was one thing about this girl too, she was a lightweight.

"that's great! how long are you here for?" you asked.

"unfortunately, not for long. but the friend i met up with today, i invited him here. i should've mentioned something earlier but i didn't. i hope it doesn't ruin our time." she said, you shrugged.

"i mean- as long as your friend isn't someone who can ruin our time, i don't see why not more the merrier!" you took a sip of your drink.

you watched as mina checked her phone and it seemed like as right on cue, she exclaimed "he said he's here!"

she turned around, peering her head around the crowd of people looking for her friend.

you turned back towards the bartender and ordered two more drinks for you and her.

when you turned back around, you noticed two familiar looking faces.

"y/n, meet-" she started before she was interrupted.

"no way! kiri-"

"y/n?!-"

you both exclaimed at the same time, mina's eyes widened.

she bounced her eyes back and forth between you and kirishima.

"no fucking way! you two know each other?!"

Chapter 4

Summary:

after the night of fun you had, you find yourself talking more to one of the pro heroes you met a few days ago.

although, he doesn't seem to be good at communicating his feelings or communicating in a way that doesn't come off wrong.

Chapter Text

and there you were, trying to explain to your friend when, how, why you knew her friend. while you and kirishima attempted to explain the story, she couldn't believe it.

the boys sat down, there were two open seats next to mina and one next to you.

kirishima and a blonde boy that you didn't recognize sat next to mina leaving the only open seat for the

blonde that you did know next to you. he huffed before pulling out the stool and sitting beside you.

you were now leaning on the counter of the bar as you sat, you glanced at bakugo and he looked at you.

you turned away from him, now engaging in the conversation kirishima, mina and blonde man were having.

"i can't believe you'd guys met, what a coincidence. she was the one i was telling you about earlier, kirishima!" mina said happily, you could hear a little more that the alcohol was slowing overcoming her.

"no way! well all that you said about her totally lives up." he replied as he ordered drinks for him and the blonde next to him.

you noticed he didn't order one for bakugo. "by the way y/n, this is denki."

denki peered his head over to you since he was a bit farther from you, he gave you a cheeky smile and waved.

his hair was way blonder than bakugo's was, and he had a black streak in it. "nice to meet you! you're very beautiful."

"why thank you. nice to meet you as well." you replied, you turned over to bakugo as he just stared around. he didn't seem like he knew what to do.

"not getting a drink?" you asked, his head was resting in the palm of his hand.

he glanced down at you before looking away. "no, not my type of thing."

"bakugo didn't want to come, but i dragged him here. i swear, sometimes he needs to get out more in my opinion!" kirishima yelled as he took a hefty sip of his drink.

"totally, he may seem like a downer but i swear he won't sour the hangout." denki added onto the conversation.

this was a pretty pleasant group to be around. as you guys talked more, the more the drinks came, the later it became.

bakugo still did not have a drink, and he wasn't necessarily engaging in the conversation either unless one of the boys said something that made him react.

you couldn't quite tell if he was happy or not to be here, but he didn't seem to be hating it.

"i'm really glad to see you guys again, including you too bakugo." mina said, she seemed really sincere about it. kirishima and denki smiled, bakugo just huffed out in response.

"how do you know everyone?" you asked, this was now your fourth drink of the night, and you could feel as it was beginning to consume you now.

this question imposed an awkward reply.

"oh- we went to school together. you know, U.A." mina replied as she scratched the back of her neck.

you felt as if the energy shifted, while you knew mina was from U.A. you hadn't guessed the rest of them were too.

the energy only felt stronger now considering what they went through.

to cheer up to mood, you exclaimed, "wow! you guys are crazy strong. i'm truly impressed and i can confidently say thank you for all that you done."

this seemed to slowly lift the energy back, kirishima gave you a nice big grin. whether it was genuine or out of the alcohol now in his system, it still soothed you. denki gave you a thumbs up.

you turned towards bakugo and his face was the same as it had been when he arrived.

only now, he seemed a little more bothered. before you could say anything, a song came on and mina squealed. she was definitely feeling it now, "y/n, let's go!"

before you even had the chance to reply, she grabbed your wrist which made you leave your drink behind on the bar counter. she dragged you through the crowd making your way to the dance floor.

once you reached it, you both jumped and danced around. all you could think about how free you felt and how you could see the genuine happiness of mina's face.

after all she had gone through, this was something that could bring you joy that she was happy.

the more and more you danced, the hotter you became and the more you could feel the four drinks you had drank affect you.

but you didn't care, here you were with your friend having a good time as much as you could.

suddenly, you noticed bright red hair and bright blonde hair emerge from behind mina. they joined in our little dancing group as well, they weren't the best dancers, but it was funny to watch them.

it was nice that it felt like you made more friends than you had before.

you noticed a certain someone wasn't a part of the group; you glanced back at the bar near the stools where you once sat.

you saw as bakugo was sitting there still, yet now he was turned around, so he was facing the dance floor.

as it happened before, it felt as if he made direct eye contact with you like he knew you were going to look at him.

you tried to signal him to join the group, but all he did was shake his head. without continuing to pester him, you turned back to your group and kept dancing.

but his eyes never left you.

-

what felt like forever on the dance floor, you finally got way too hot and told mina you were going to leave for a bit. she gave you a smile before turning to the two boys who were still with her, dancing with all the energy had.

you pushed your way through the crowd again and made your way to the stool.

you could feel yourself stumble a bit; you climbed back in the same stool you had been sitting in.

bakugo was still sitting there like he hadn't moved a single inch. yet he turned around in the stool, he was now against the counter where he rested his arms. you sat there, recollecting all the energy you just exerted.

after a few deep breaths, you turned your head towards bakugo where he was already looking at you.

"what? do i got something on my face?" you mumbled in almost a single sentence with no pauses.

he shook his head, "no."

"why do you keep looking at me?"

"i think you need water." was only his reply, he called the waiter over where he got you a glass of water.

you drank it willingly, but you knew that wasn't enough to sober you up. "thanks." you told him.

"tell me something about you." you bravely said, he seemed caught off guard. he ran his fingers through his hair before placing his head back into the palm in his hand like he had sat before.

"i got nothing to tell you." he replied, you rolled your eyes. you swung your stool so that your legs were now pointing in his direction, you leaned closer and looked at him.

"really? not a single fun thing about you?"

he listened to you as you slurred your words, he almost wanted to laugh but he didn't. he just kept looking down at you, "nothing fun."

"fine, i'll tell you something about me!" you exclaimed; it seemed to pique his interest although he didn't really show it.

you sat there and thought what you could tell him; you did a funny thinking face.

"i wanted to be a hero!" you yelled, somehow you laughed about this.

he just kept staring at you and in an almost chuckle he replied, "and this is a fun fact how? who didn't want to be a hero growing up?"

you rolled your eyes, he wasn't exactly wrong. before you could say anything in response, you felt extremely tired.

you laid your head against the counter of the bar, and all you could think of was you wanted to sleep.

before you could possibly doze off, you lifted your head up. "i think it's my time to go."

you mumbled, you tried to look for mina again on the dance floor but you couldn't see past everyone.

you wanted to let her know you'd be leaving, but with no prevail, you pulled out your phone and texted her instead.

turning off your phone, you shoved it into your pocket. you stood up from the stool and looked at bakugo, "goodbye there, good sir!" you yelled and he squinted his eyes at you.

you turned around and headed for the door, you were still stumbling a little, but you couldn't seem to notice.

as you reached the door, the door was pushed open from someone behind you. you turned around and saw bakugo was now standing directly behind you.

you gave him a confused look, he didn't look down at you though.

"whatcha doing?" you asked as you walked outside, the cooler breeze hitting your face feeling good.

he grumbled as he stood next to you, "taking you home or whatever. should we drive there?"

you shook your head no, "i really love walking. i love to walk. how about we walk?"

he almost looked like he was at a loss of words, instead of declining it. he agreed without saying a word and let you lead the way back home.

you walked pretty slowly but it was due to the alcohol which made you feel more conscience of your surroundings more.

you and bakugo walked towards your apartment, not a word was really said but it felt as if a word didn't have to be said.

the silence was peaceful enough until you started to talk, "do you really have no fun fact for me?"

he looked down at you which you didn't notice before focusing on the sidewalk again. "not one that i can think of."

"maybe you are boring, but that's okay! maybe that's a fun fact in itself, you can be boring and there's nothing wrong with that." you started to ramble.

bakugo wasn't sure if he should feel upset that you just called him boring or the fact he couldn't think of something positive of himself right now.

you were almost home. you felt a little more sober now, but you were feeling a bit dizzy. as you walked, you didn't notice a big crack in the sidewalk causing your foot to get caught and you almost fell.

you braced for impact, but before you could actually hit the ground, you felt a strong arm wrap around your waist holding you up.

you opened your shut closed eyes and realized you weren't on the floor.

bakugo picked you back up, removing his arm now from holding you up. "watch it, dumbass."

the two of you kept walking again, and as you thought about it, you started laughing out of nowhere.

he looked at you, he realized you two had now reached the street of your home. just a few more doors down and this night would finally be over.

"your fun fact about you should be all that vulgar language you say! i never heard someone say so much!" you said in between laughs, while you didn't see it, bakugo's ears turned red out of embarrassment.

"are you laughing at me, asshole?!" he yelled. you couldn't stop laughing, you had to catch your breath and realized you were now in front of your infamous steps of your apartment.

you took one final deep breath and looked at bakugo.

he rolled his eyes at you, and you finally said, "i'm not laughing at you, i'm just laughing. but you really do curse a lot. i think it's pretty funny, or maybe interesting. i think it's very much you."

"and what do you think you know about me?" he replied almost instantly, it caught you off guard.

it made you feel weird, like you had stepped on a boundary. you awkwardly looked away.

"you're right- my mistake." you said, now it was silent again.

you turned around as you slowly walked up the steps, "thank you for taking me home... again. what a nice protocol you continue to follow outside of your job."

you turned back to face him and he just stood there, looking up at you since you were taller due to the stairs.

he cleared his throat and looked away, "i didn't mean for what i said to come out like that. but, yeah. this wasn't for protocol though."

before you could say something, he turned around and began to walk away slowly. you saw as he reached in his pocket of his pants pulling out a set of car keys.

he had a car this whole time and he still decided to walk me home? you thought.

Chapter Text

after the events of last night, you found yourself sprawled out in your bed in the same clothes you wore last night.

you groaned in discomfort as you rolled over to the edge of your bed where you placed your phone on the nightstand. checking the time, it was now 2 pm.

setting your phone back down, you brought your hands up to face before dragging them down and letting out sounds to express how tired you felt.

while it didn't seem like you drank a lot, it totally felt like you had more than enough. after what felt like hours of laying down, you found the energy to roll yourself out of bed.

you made your way to your bathroom where you took off the previous night's clothes and hopped into a nice, steaming shower.

as the water hit your skin, you could slowly feel yourself feel better.

after your shower, you washed your face and brushed your teeth. you wrapped a robe around you and headed back into your room where you grabbed your phone. checking it now, you noticed a few messages.

mina: hey girl! are you okay?

i'm sorry i didn't get to see you out last night, i was too entranced in the drinks and the music lol

y/n: no worries lol, i got home safely

mina: oh i'm glad! no wonder why we couldn't find bakugo as we were trying to leave

before you had the chance to reply, you remembered he was the one to take you home.

you remembered your awkward encounter where it felt like he didn't appreciate what you had said to him.

if i ever see him again, i'll definitely apologize you thought to yourself.

while you felt like what you didn't say seem wrong to you, he took it the wrong way and you don't want to start off on a bad foot.

you made your way to your kitchen where you started making yourself lunch. you turned on your tv as normal background noise as you cooked.

as you turned on the tv, a popular news channel came on.

"and we are back with our hero ranking discussion. we previously left off on hero number five because we have too much to say about those who are above him!" the male news host said in a laugh.

"most definitely! but hero number five... he's quite something, don't you think?" said the woman news host.

"well, i can't say exactly if he's made a name for himself. or should i say he has? i mean, just listen to his hero name! Great Explosion Murder God; Dynamight."

while you weren't paying attention before, it caught your attention now. you turned your full attention to the tv as you watched one male host and one woman host discuss the number five hero.

but that wasn't what caught your attention. what caught your attention was hearing "great explosion" as if you have heard that somewhere before.

thinking back to where you might've heard it, you recalled a few days ago in the cafe. you were talking to kirishima when he started to say it, and the only other person there was bakugo.

before you had the chance to really piece it together yourself, all of sudden a familiar face you've seen many times now was all over the screen.

"climbed all the way from fifteenth place to fifth place! i mean wow, i wonder what changed. maybe it's the way he communicates with the population. he never seemed to be great at it- just look at this clip."

the news had showed a clip of bakugo fighting a villain. you couldn't tear your eyes off the screen as you watch him fight.

he traveled swiftly in the air what seemed to be done by using his hands with explosions.

that hero name makes more sense now, you thought.

after he took down the villain, he rescued an elderly lady who was caught by said villain. he gently moved her away from the scene, but all of the sudden the news reporters started to bombard him.

this is what caused him to lash out, he started cursing and yelling at them to get away.

you couldn't help but laugh. after the clip shown, you watched as they showed more highlights of bakugo.

he was quite something, but you couldn't wonder why he didn't tell you the truth of his hero name or why he didn't mention that he was a higher-ranking hero.

that was something anyone should be proud of.

you felt a sudden wave of sadness overcome you. the more you thought about it, you were surrounded by pro heroes as who were slowly becoming your friends.

you wondered what rank kirishima and denki were, and you were nothing more than someone who didn't have a quirk who worked in an office building.

they were out saving lives, putting their lives at risk. i mean, all of them had put their life at risk during the war. you ultimately felt a little hopeless.

given that you didn't feel sadness towards them, you felt it towards yourself. you knew it wasn't your fault that your quirk never appeared, but you felt weak despite holding your head high.

you sighed before shutting off the tv.

-

it was now later in the evening, after doing nothing but rotting away at home. you realized you should take care some errands that you only have time to take care of during the weekend.

you changed into something comfier before grabbing your usually tote bag for grocery shopping. you walked as you usually do to your favorite grocery store.

thankfully, you didn't have to grab much. as you entered the store, it was packed more than usual but you didn't mind. you were here to do your thing and ignore everyone else.

after going up and down each aisle you needed to, the final thing you needed to grab were noodles.

as you made it to the aisle, the last bag of your favorite noodles were right there.

as you approached them slowly, you didn't think someone else would be reaching for the same bag. you held your arm out to grab them, but so did someone else.

you glanced up and noticed a man with half white and half red hair. he also seemed to have a birthmark that was around his eye.

"oh. i didn't realize these were so popular." he said under his breath, he dropped his arm from grabbing them. you grabbed them, but it didn't feel right.

"these noodles are amazing! but here- take them." you replied as you held your arm out, giving the man the noodles. he looked down at the noodles then back to you.

"why? don't you want them?" he asked, you just stared at him before chuckling.

"i do- but you do too. i don't need them that bad. i'd prefer it if you'd have them." while you really did wish you were keeping them instead; you felt better about giving it to him.

"thanks." he said with a small smile on his face that you could barely see before grabbing them.

he placed them in his basket which he had filled with other products. you nodded your head before turning around and walking away.

as you made your way to checkout, you noticed the same hair of the man you gave the noodles to at a different cashier.

you placed all the things you bought today in your tote bag and began to leave the store.

before you could make it down the street, you heard someone yelling behind you, "excuse me!"

you turned around a saw another man with the same man you just gave the noodles to.

he had shorter hair, but it was a green shade. he had very big eyes too, which happened to be green.

"hey there- i'd just like to say thank you for giving him the noodles!" he exclaimed out of breath like he had to chase you. you looked back and forth between the two guys.

"it's really no issue. he already told me thank you too." you laughed, you saw as the green haired one talked to the other one in a whisper. you couldn't hear what they were saying.

"if there's nothing else you need- may i go now? this is quite heavy." you referred to the big tote you were carrying.

the men stopped whispering and looked at you, he waved his hands around awkwardly.

"i'm sorry to keep you waiting! have a great day!" he said with a big smile, you gave a nod and turned away heading back home now.

before you could even get far, you heard a voice that you know all too well.

"oh- kacchan! nice to see you here! what are you up to?" one of the new voices you just heard.

"what the fuck- deku? i told you not to call me that!" the voice yelled, you turned around as you saw bakugo now stopped by the other two men who just approached you.

their dynamic was funny to watch. as the green haired one was trying to talk so happily to bakugo, it was as if bakugo could do nothing but seem like he was yelling at him despite not being loud.

he would even yell at the other split haired man when he didn't do anything.

you saw as bakugo wasn't in his hero suit. he had on a black fitted shirt with dark green baggy sweatpants on.

the more you stared at their interaction, the spilt haired man turned towards you.

he whispered to the green haired man, "i told you. i think she's a fan. why is she just watching us?"

all at the same moment, every single one of their eyes was on you. it's like you could always be caught staring at the wrong moments. you turned your head as fast as you could out of embarrassment.

as bakugo saw you, he could feel himself feel a type of way.

after what happened yesterday and what he said, he felt like he needed to explain himself, but he wasn't sure how.

were you guys even close enough to do that? were you guys even considered friends or was it nothing more than a hero-citizen saving relationship?

but you guys had technically hung out outside of his job- while it wasn't out of his freewill.

all these thoughts ran through his head that he felt like it could've exploded.

he heard what todoroki had whispered to midoriya, he rolled his eyes. "you dumbasses, she's not a fan. or i don't think she is. she didn't even recognize me!"

before the two had something to say to him, he pushed past them and made his way for you.

as he slowly approached you, instead of touching you because you were faced away from him. he looped around so he was in front of you, he bent down a little.

he watched as your eyes connected with his.

he wanted to smirk, but he didn't. "hey there, dumbass."

the other two watched as bakugo approached you, they look at each other confused. before they could ruin the moment, they just both turned around and walked away.

"i didn't know bakugo could make friends!"

Chapter 6

Summary:

you slowly feel yourself to be more accepting of the number five pro hero as your friend. he slowly feels accepting of you too.
but there are still many guards up on both sides of you two, or are they slowly coming down?

Chapter Text

you looked into the red eyes of bakugo as he was bent down in front of you, but peering up at you at the same time.

you could feel the heat on your face of embarrassment as you got caught staring again.

it's not like it was a crime, but this was starting to happen with him more.

he stood up now; he kept looking at you.

you sighed, "i'm sorry- i didn't mean to stare but i heard your voice and i got interested in what was going on!"

bakugo sneered at you before looking away, "i never said it was an issue, idiot. i was surprised to see you here. although, i'm glad to know i catch your attention."

this was the most you've heard from bakugo since you first met him, granted it was only a few days ago.

you rolled your eyes, "you definitely don't. i'm just a very curious person."

"oh, yeah? why didn't you just walk away after hearing my voice. the conversation didn't concern you." he half lied.

he means, todoroki had mentioned you but that wasn't what they were discussing at first.

he thought about it, why did todoroki whisper that to midoriya?

before he even thought of asking you, you brushed past him and started walking away.

he watched as you walked away with that big tote bag you were carrying. he rolled his eyes and slowly caught up to you.

you glanced over your shoulder, "so this time, are you going to tell me that you're following me?"

"like i said last time, i wasn't following you-"

"you so were! what would you call it then?"

"i don't know dumbass-"

"exactly!" you teased; he was now standing side by side with you as you made your way back home.

the more you were carrying the tote, your shoulder was slowly feeling the pain of its weight.

you didn't complain though, you were just going to force yourself to keep going.

but bakugo had noticed the discomfort on your face beginning to form.

he waited until you asked for help.

and waited and waited.

"stop." he said sternly, you stopped right in your tracks. you looked at him to see what made him say that, he held out his hand.

you furrowed your eyebrows wondering what he was asking for.

"give me the bag." your lips were now agape, you didn't know what to say.

sure, the pain was unbearable, but you didn't want to seem like you couldn't do anything.

instead of answering or even giving him the bag, you kept walking.

"hey, asshole! i said give me the bag!" bakugo yelled after you as he started walking with you again.

"no- it's fine. i got it, it doesn't hurt that bad." you tried to tell him, he only scoffed.

"i didn't ask if it hurt. now, hand it over." he stopped walking away forcing you to stop again. you only rolled your eyes before letting the bag slip off your shoulder.

the immediate relief hit instantly. you handed it over to him and he took it with no ease, throwing it on his shoulder.

not a word was said as you continued your walk back to your apartment.

the sun was setting now; the scenery was something you enjoyed a lot hence why you always walked everywhere.

you looked over to bakugo who had no issue with carrying your bag full of your groceries.

"so, how did you know those two?" you asked him, he looked down at you and looked away.

"same way i know mina, kirishima and denki." he only replied, it was as if you knew how to ask questions that always brought up awkward moments.

"no way! do i live under a rock? i can't believe they're pro heroes-" you started, you look up to bakugo to see if his face was going to change over the topic. but it didn't, so you kept going.

"also, speaking of pro heroes. why weren't you going to tell me you were number five? mr. great explosion-" before you had the chance to finish your sentence, bakugo whipped his head to you and you could see the small tint of pink in his ears.

"how did you- did those idiots say something?!" he exclaimed, you shook your head and gave a giggle.

"no. you were on my tv this morning, discussing how you went from number fifteen to number five. very big jump, congratulations." you said genuinely, a smile overcoming your face.

"yeah, i still strive to be number one. so, don't boost me up too much." he said, although your compliment was enough to boost his ego.

before you realized it, you reached the steps of your apartment again.

as you walked up the steps, you realized bakugo was following you up now too.

you turned around and looked at him, "i can take it from here."

bakugo seemed caught off guard, he wasn't sure what he was thinking.

how was he just going to enter a woman's house unwarranted?

as he was removing the tote from his shoulder, you could see it on his face he was thinking of coming in.

you thought about it to yourself, you were having a nice time.

it was the weekend, so it wasn't like you had work the next day.

and something about learning more or getting him to talk more was making you feel good.

"would you like to come in?"

-

bakugo entered your apartment behind you slowly, you pushed the door wide up and shut it close as he was inside now.

although this wasn't the first time you had a man in your home, but this felt a little different.

"can you set the bag on the kitchen counter please? feel free to sit on my couch as i unload my groceries. i promise i won't take too long." you said in a smile.

and so he did, he dropped off the tote and sat on your couch.

as you unloaded the groceries, bakugo glanced around the living room he was sitting in.

he felt uncomfortable, not because he was in a woman's place but because he felt as if you forced yourself to agree to have him come inside.

he noticed all the small trinkets you had; you had a few nice decorations that he would enjoy having in his own home.

he thought the living room very much suited your personality, and the smell of your home was very calm.

"bakugo?" you said, he snapped out of the daze he was in and noticed you standing over him.

you held out a glass of water, he felt embarrassed that he hadn't noticed you.

he took the glass from your hand, taking a sip and setting it on your coffee table.

you took a seat on the couch of the opposite side of him. the silence was a little awkward and tense.

"so, i'd like to say thank you for helping me! i hope me inviting you in wasn't weird. but i was having a nice time, so why end the fun early?" you told him as you took a sip of water.

he was leaned back against the couch. hearing you say that had put an ease on him.

you were glad he looked a little less tense now. you tucked your feet under your bum, still holding your glass.

"it's no issue. it's my day off." he replied.

"and i'm making you do all this hard labor! i'm horrible, my mistake. if i had known, i wouldn't let you do it."

"i wouldn't have done it if i didn't want to." he replied naturally, you smiled to yourself.

he was getting a little easier to talk to which caused you to remember yesterday.

"i'm also sorry for yesterday." you quietly said, your finger was now tracing the rim of the water glass.

you didn't want to sour the mood, yet you couldn't let this go without apologizing.

"what?" was all he replied with.

you took a deep breath.

"i'm sorry if what i said yesterday had bothered you. after watching the news, i realized that those people were discussing how vulgar you can be and i made fun of you for that. also, when you asked what do i know about you, i realized that i had bothered you. so i just didn't want you to be mistaken."

bakugo took a deep breath in and out.

come on, you can tell her how you feel about the situation.

he cleared his throat, "uh, you don't need to apologize. i told you yesterday i didn't mean for it to come out that way. i'm not sure how i meant it, but i take it back. also, i'm used to those talking about how i talk. but it's not an issue when you do it."

you looked up at him and he looked directly back into your eyes, you could see a sense of discomfort like it took him a lot to say that.

instead of pestering more, you smiled at him and nodded.

"i'm glad, because what are those nicknames? dumbass?" you said with a little giggle.

"hey! they aren't that bad, idiot!" he yelled at you which caused you to laugh more.

he sat up from the couch and took a sip of his water. you continued to look at each other before you looked away.

"you could've told me your actual hero name, too."

bakugo didn't break his eyes from you although you weren't looking at him. "it wasn't exactly a lie. i've heard people call me that before, but you can know me as dynamight."

"well, thank you for talking to me, dynamight." you replied.

but what you didn't see was that bakugo turned away now. he could feel his face get a little hotter.

the more he spent time with you, the more he felt like he could talk without you saying anything to judge him.

he almost felt at peace with you.

it might've been too soon to say so, but after all he's been through, a fast change a pace seemed to be helping.

the only thing was work that allowed his mind to escape the thoughts that lingered.

he couldn't tell you now but, there was something that felt as if it held him back from great.

he felt like he wasn't doing enough.

he needed more or he needed to always be on his feet to keep himself from spiraling.

but here he was now with you, doing absolutely nothing but talking and his mind hadn't spiraled.

but he could see it in your eyes whenever you made eye contact.

you were just as broken as he was.

Chapter 7

Summary:

you soon find solidarity in the pro hero's crazy life that you had wish you were able to achieve.
and he finds peace in your calm, quiet life which he doesn't realize now is exactly what he needs for himself.

Chapter Text

as your night continued with bakugo, you continued to have conversations about anything that came to mind.

you told him a few things about yourself and your job. it piqued his interest hearing about what you do in your everyday life.

he invited you in more to his life, regarding about his friends and how life is like as a pro hero.

it was good to hear someone feel confident in themselves, and you could see the passion he had for being one.

you hadn't noticed before since he always wore a long sleeve top for his hero suit, but now that he was in a short sleeve.

he had a ton of scars on his arms.

you didn't ask regarding them, but in some way, they made you feel empathy for him.

he was so young when he had to fight, and considering years have passed since the war, he was still fighting villains to this day.

it felt as you cracked down his wall and the more comfortable he became talking to you.

his tone was different when talking with you now, he seemed happier.

you were glad that this was becoming easier for the two of you to talk.

you only had mina, so having someone else to talk to be a different change was positively impacting you.

sometimes, your life can be too calm.

while there's nothing wrong with that, you feel like you can have more or do more in your life.

and talking to him regarding his hero life made you feel comforted in a way.

as you were amidst of a conversation, your phone dinged.

you apologized before pulling your phone from your pocket seeing a text from mina.

mina: whatcha up to? wanna hangout?

y/n: i totally would but i'm with bakugo right now

mina: bakugo?! where are you guys at

y/n: my house

wait don't freak out

it's not like that!

mina: no fucking way!

i've never seen or heard about that man in any other woman's house before lol i'm shocked is all

don't do anything i wouldn't do ;)

y/n: shut up, ill talk to you later

you shut your off before shoving it back in your pocket.

you had glanced at the time before doing so and it was already 10 pm.

you hadn't realized how much time you guys were spending together.

you looked over to bakugo who was now focused on the tv you had turned on an hour ago.

your eyes glazed over him.

starting from his waist where the waistband of his sweatpants hugged him tightly, as you traveled your eyes up, all you could focus on was that black shirt.

it hugged him in all the right areas, his physique practically pushing out through the fabric.

as you traveled higher, you reached his neck where it was just perfectly open and his skin looked soft despite the scars he had.

the scars didn't disgust you; you admired them.

as your eyes finally landed on his face, you noticed a larger scar that was near his eye.

you weren't sure how you hadn't focused on that before, but it attracted to you him more.

you hadn't realized this man sitting in your home right now was gorgeous.

his skin was a perfect shade of being tan, and the scars that covered him complimented him perfectly.

the way his hair held its shape too suited his head.

you thought back to what mina said, you shook your head.

you couldn't possibly do anything with him.

although you can find him attractive, that doesn't make you a beast who will pounce on their prey.

he looked back at you, connecting eyes with you immediately.

you didn't look away this time, it's not like you had anywhere else to look or anything to blame.

you gulped lightly, "it's getting late, isn't it?"

good fucking going y/n, you thought to yourself.

you watched as bakugo pulled out his phone to check the time.

he cleared his throat, "oh shit, yeah."

he got up from the couch and you followed after him with the two glasses you had been drinking.

placing them into the kitchen sink before meeting bakugo by your door.

"i wasn't trying to run you out, i just realized how dark it was outside." you mumbled, almost feeling bad that he was leaving your home.

he gave you a small chuckle, "don't worry, i didn't think that at all, asshole."

he was leaned against the wall next to your door.

as you went over, you unlocked the door before opening it wide for him.

he pushed himself off the wall and took a step out of your apartment.

you both just stood there as you rested your head against the door. he stood out in the hallway of your apartment's corridor.

"thank you for coming over and for the help today." you said sweetly.

"how many times can you thank me?" he replied teasingly, causing you to roll your eyes.

"you're right, i revoke all my thank you's now." you teased back and he held his heart like it hurt him.

you couldn't help but laugh.

"goodnight bakugo." you said, you didn't want the night to end.

you slowly started to close your door before he could reply.

before you could fully shut it, he stopped it with his hand.

you reopened the door and looked at him, he moved his hand.

"before i go, could i possibly get your number?" he said with a small gulp in his throat.

"of course you can, let me see your phone." he immediately pulled out his phone from his pocket, logging in and handed it over to you.

you entered your number and entered your name.

as you handed it back, he smiled softly to himself.

"better actually use it to the best of your ability, i don't just give out my number to anyone." you teased. he glanced up at you with a smirk.

"oh, don't you worry- i will." he replied, it almost made you choke.

he was getting a little bolder with you.

as you yawned, he realized how tired you actually were now.

"i'll take my leave now."

you rubbed your eye, "goodnight again, bakugo."

you said sheepishly and this time before shutting the door, you waited for a reply.

"goodnight, y/n. i hope to see you sometime again... dumbass." he waved goodbye as he walked down the hallway and out of your apartment complex.

you shut the door, locking it before heading to your living room and turning everything off.

you headed into your room, changing into your pajamas now where you hopped into bed to get comfortable.

you replayed the night you had tonight, and you realized this was pretty fun time to you.

you had hoped bakugo felt the same towards the time spent together.

you could feel a wave of happiness overcome you.

you always felt happy of course, but this was a different feeling.

it felt as you could feel yourself with him and tell him more about you.

you weren't sure if you two could ever truly connect due to living two different lives.

he was someone well known, and you were practically just a citizen to him at one point.

are we considered friends now? i mean, who just asks for a number and says they hope to see each other again. i think we're friends, i think i'd like that, you thought to yourself.

you had successfully made a new friend, who happened to be one of the top pro heroes.

and despite how miserable you felt about being nothing more than a normal citizen, bakugo's life and stories give you the thrill of knowing what it's like to be a pro hero.

hearing other people be as passionate as you once thought you could be about being a hero; that void was being filled by bakugo.

you never talked as much hero stuff with mina because you wanted her to bring it up first.

it's tricky when she was a part of U.A and had gone through the war.

you know she loves her job so much, but you think she still has trouble with trauma.

not that bakugo doesn't, he doesn't express it.

or hasn't expressed it yet to you.

so, you allow him to talk about the positives of himself and his hero work.

you hear him, and you listen.

you don't give feedback.

-

he doesn't need feedback, he already knows he's strong.

he's a hero, he's been through a lot.

he doesn't want to talk about it anymore where he discusses what hurts him.

but he knows that it still does haunt him.

maybe he can find solidarity in you.

maybe he can confide in you regarding these negative thoughts that bother him.

he'd like to hear from someone who hadn't been there that he is strong, he's enough and he's doing good.

as he was walking himself out of your apartment, he looked at your contact.

you entered your name normally, but he decided to add an "dumbass" to it to make it rightfully yours.

as he walked down the street, he realized that he never did the errands he had to.

he got too caught up in your time that he lost track of his own time.

that never really happened for him, it was his time and only his time he had to focus on.

not that he necessarily has to focus on yours, but he chooses to.

this is where he finds himself to be comfortable.

once he got home, the silence hit him.

he was alone again; he sighed as he headed to his room.

he removed his shirt and sweatpants off, he decided to hop straight into bed.

he cuddled himself in his blanket.

he tried to go to sleep instantly so the thoughts wouldn't consume him, but that didn't work.

he could feel himself starting to breathe a little heavier.

before it got too out of control, he kept trying to remind himself he's okay and to relax.

this was something no one knows regarding bakugo.

sure, he was snarky and cocky to the public.

he did feel that way about himself still, but after the war and what he had gone through, it started to affect him more whether he deserved to act that way.

he still felt strong, but he wishes he had been stronger.

he can remember like it was yesterday, the pain.

he rolled on his back and lifted his arms up.

he saw all the scars that ran through his arms.

he wondered if you thought they were ugly, and if he needed to cover them up.

his mind wandered back to you which seemed to be able to calm him down faster.

the thought of your presence was enough to make it feel like you were genuinely there with him.

he hadn't realized it, or he didn't think he could feel this way but he noticed every little thing about you.

the way your lips moved when you talked and were always perfectly moisturized, the way you would break eye contact if it was too intense during conversations.

the way your hair perfectly complimented that stupid head of yours.

the way your eyes would shut close if you thought something bad was going to happen, or the way you were independent.

you were beautiful, and that was for sure.

without hesitation, he grabbed his phone.

he typed in your contact via messages and decided to text you.

before he really thought about it, he hit send.

bakugo: u up?

fuck i didn't mean to be weird

you were tired after all, if you're sleeping, ignore this

i mean of course you would, you'd be sleeping

fuck

y/n: bakugo, you're really funny

but i am up, what's up?

miss me already?

maybe

bakugo: fuck no idiot

i couldn't sleep

y/n: wow i'm hurt :(

bakugo: boohoo

y/n: i am tired, but i don't mind texting u for a bit

bakugo: don't let me keep you up

y/n: trust me, you couldn't stop me from my precious sleep time

bakugo: oh whatever

what are you up to tomorrow?

y/n: you could really just say you miss me

but, i'm not totally sure. may catch up on needed relaxation

bakugo: idiot i'm just trying to make conversation

but that sounds... good?

y/n: what's the confusion for? it should always be good to relax for a little when you can

bakugo: i'm not used to that

i enjoy keeping myself on my feet

y/n: you shouldn't overexert yourself

that will cause issues...

bakugo: yeah? like what? ms. i think i know everything.

y/n: don't be surprised when you go bald lol!

bakugo: are you serious?!

y/n: i made that up but who knows

on a serious note, take time to yourself when you can

you deserve to relax as much as others do

bakugo: i'll think about it

y/n: or don't, whatever

i'm not sure who you'll be anymore without your precious locks

bakugo: shut up, asshole

that's not going to happen

y/n: haha that's what they all say before it does

bakugo: you're stupid

y/n: i rolled my eyes just so you know

i had a nice conversation with you, but i am getting pretty tired now

goodnight bakugo

bakugo: goodnight

without realizing it, bakugo turned his phone off and rested it on his chest.

he slowly drifted off to sleep.

one of the many sleeps he hasn't had in a bit where he was in a deep sleep.

Chapter Text

a few days later

after the weekend, you went back to your job as usual. you hadn't seen or spoken to bakugo in a few days.

while watching the news, you learned that there had been a broadcast reporting the increase of villains that were raiding the city.

naturally, you assumed that bakugo was one of the many pro heroes assigned to the outbreaks due to his ranking.

even so, there was a shift in the energy raiding over the city, as if everyone was on edge.

rightfully so, anyone who was quirkless was a massive target to those villains.

villains viewed those who are quirkless as powerless.

but no matter what happened, there was always pro heroes around in the city all day as they did their patrol.

you always searched around when you walked to and from work hoping to see that blonde boy you can always recognize almost instantly in the streets.

it was wishful thinking that you'd be able to see him again so soon.

you and him briefly texted here and there; but it was nothing more a few words exchanged that would carry into a conversation.

he'd check up on you frequently, asking if you were alright walking to and from work especially with the ongoing outbreak.

after you'd reply, he'd never really respond back.

taking no offense to this, he was a busy man after all.

this afternoon, as the sun was slowly setting down and the sky was a pretty color consisting of red and orange hues.

you were meeting up with mina after some time apart. there was finally time in both of your schedules.

you walked into this cafe which was one you'd typically not go to. this was one recommended by mina and you knew to trust her taste.

as you walked in, the smell of coffee brewing this late in the evening hit your nose. it was almost enough to wake you up again.

you glanced throughout the cafe, noticing the pink haired girl sitting near the window in a two-chair table.

you approached, pulling out the chair and plopping down. you rested your work bag on the table and mina gave you a smile.

"it feels like forever since i last saw you." she said as she pushed a drink that you enjoy towards you. you thanked her and took a sip.

you sighed of relief as the flavor hit your mouth.

"calm down there, it hasn't been that long." you chuckled which she playfully smacked your hand.

"so, tell me everything!" she yelled as loud as she could for the whole cafe to hear her. you squinted your eyes at her, confused.

did something happen? you wondered.

"what are you-"

"are you serious... bakugo?" she reminded you; you did tell her that bakugo was at your house.

you could only roll your eyes, you knew she was going to turn it into something that it wasn't.

"i told you, it was nothing weird like that. he simply came over because he helped me with my groceries." you stated, you watched as the glint in her eyes change as she gasped before giving you a big grin.

"you're telling me bakugo helped you with your groceries... with no bribe? with no... issue?" she uttered as if she was in a horror film.

you couldn't help but laugh at her.

"what is wrong with you, seriously? but to answer you, yes he did. is it really that shocking?" you mumbled, beginning to feel like there was no way it was that hard to believe.

after all, the bakugo you were getting to know didn't seem like anything mina was portraying him as.

"absolutely. totally," she started. "if you knew that boy in U.A, maybe you could understand a little more. he's changed... a little since then. he definitely still has the same temper and ego; he'd typically not do something unless he was asked."

recalling the events of that day, you hadn't necessarily asked him to help you. you were even willing to go through the agony of carrying that huge tote bag of yours.

but he insisted on helping you.

this made you think even deeper, if what mina was saying is true, why'd he go as far as to doing that for you?

"i think you're over exaggerating it," you mumbled, it felt guilty of you to judge his character based on a classmate's word although she was your friend too. "even if what you're saying is true- not that i don't believe you. there's no ulterior motive for him helping me."

she only shrugged, "whatever you say. keep me updated if anything else happens, who knows- maybe he can be someone for you."

you scoffed, "what are you trying to say! i definitely do not need someone, and even if i had baku- someone right now, i don't think it would or should be a pro hero."

"why the hell not!? that's like the perfect combination of someone being able to-" she started.

"mina, you know i can take care of myself, right?" you said quietly, the mood was starting to shift slowly.

mina only took a deep breath in and out, your hand was on the table and she placed hers over yours gently.

"of course, i know that y/n. i'm sorry, i didn't mean for it to sound like you couldn't or aren't able to-" she started as she cleared her throat.

"with the recent events of villains going around the city; it's only natural for me to care, especially of someone close to me." she murmured, rubbing her thumb every so softly against the back of your hand.

"i understand, i care for you as much as you care for me. and i want you to know that i'm always here for you if you ever want or need to talk." you replied.

you could tell saying that hit mina a little harder than she intended. you could feel as her thumb stopped momentarily rubbing before sighing deeply.

"i know." was all she managed to huff out.

"by the way," you started as you looked at her and she stared back at you. you looked away with the feeling of your face getting a little hot.

"i'm not particularly opposed to dating a pro hero. but one as high as bakugo's ranking- it feels like too much pressure... but he is really attractive."

she gasped quietly before squealing; you could feel all eyes on you.

"oh, this is wonderful! you are exactly what bakugo could ever need! someone to even out his chaotic life into something more peaceful. just tell me you like him-"

you covered her mouth with your hand which made her shut up. "mina, i don't like him! i only said he's attractive! attraction doesn't mean feelings at all. i can find anyone attractive! like him over there-"

as you said that, you used your freehand to point over to a random customer who was in the cafe line.

mina's eyes followed the direction of your index finger to see who it was pointing at.

when her eyes finally landed on the said person, she removed your hand that was covering her mouth.

she tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrows, "todoroki?"

Chapter Text

as she kept her eyebrows furrowed, you began to furrow yours.

you decided to drop your arm as fast as you could.

how could i just randomly point! did i really land on someone? you thought to yourself.

if there was one thing you were good at; it was embarrassing yourself.

you turned your head in the direction of where you had originally pointed your finger at someone.

there stood a guy, he had familiar hair that you remembered seeing recently.

he was standing almost right behind you, but he stood off to the side.

he held an iced drink in his hand, looking down at you then towards mina.

"mina? and... you? what's going on?" he spoke with a monotone voice.

"todoroki, what a surprise. good to see you again- wait, do you know todoroki too, y/n? is there just any one of my friends that i can just introduce you to?" mina exclaimed, you rolled your eyes at her.

"shut up, mina! i recently saw him at the store- and i gave him my favorite noodles since it was the last one." you whined.

"you're such a doll- of course you would do that." mina teased you causing you to go back and forth with her.

"uh," todoroki interjected himself into the conversation causing the bickering of the two of you to come to a halt.

you both faced him, he took a sip of his drink.

"i don't mean to intrude. but why did you point at me... are you really a fan of me? you could just ask me for-" he started before you couldn't help but giggle.

"i'm sorry for the misunderstanding. i'm not necessarily a fan- i mean, i appreciate your work as a pro hero but i don't know too much about you or any of mina's friends. my reason for pointing at you was..." you started, you looked into his eyes.

he kept such a straight face that you weren't sure if he was annoyed listening to this, he just wanted to leave, or he just wanted a genuine explanation.

"it doesn't matter- i'm sorry. it'll never happen again, trust me." you shrugged it off, it'd be too weird to explain to him that you wanted to prove to mina that anyone could just only be attractive.

"don't worry, y/n. todoroki has always received compliments- after all, he was the best-looking male in our class." mina praised as she rested her head in the palm of her hand looking at todoroki.

"what?" was all he managed to get out.

he was clearly different than what bakugo was.

he was more chill, and he didn't seem like he wanted to engage in much conversation.

you could only smirk to yourself as you thought of bakugo and him interacting.

"it's nothing, todoroki. it was nothing bad of her to be pointing at you." mina explained which caused him to nod his head in agreement.

"i should get going. it was nice to see you two, stay safe out there." he passed on before giving the smallest smile to the two of you.

he headed out of the cafe, you both watched as he walked away.

once he was far enough, you both broke out into laughter.

you punched mina in the arm causing her to clutch the pain.

"you asshole! he didn't need to know it was about that." you yelled out causing her to laugh even harder.

"don't worry, he might not put two and two together or he'll just be flattered. he's used to it, he is the second ranking hero after all." she said with no hesitation.

all you could do was stare at her.

she took one final sip of her drink, not realizing what you were doing just staring at her with your mouth agape.

"do i have something..." she started but all you could do was still be in shock.

"number two?! are you serious? i just told the top-ranking hero that i'm not necessarily a fan of his. i'm the worst." you blurted out, mina just rolled her eyes in a playful manner.

"come on, it's getting late. let me walk you home." she replied.

you both got up from the table and pushed in the chairs. grabbing your now empty cup and work bag, you both threw away your drinks in the trash before heading out the door.

this cafe was a little further from your apartment, but mina had no issues walking you home especially this late at night.

throughout the walk, you guys continued to just catch up on the very few days you weren't together.

she let you know that she would be leaving sometime soon and that you'd have to hangout before she does.

it's not like she was leaving forever but you weren't sure when she'd be back.

after dropping you off, you gave each other a hug, and she went about her own night.

once you headed inside, you did your usual after work routine which consisted of showering, eating a meal, making sure everything was turned off in your apartment before hopping into bed.

you set your alarm for the morning for work, you realized you probably should change the screen of your phone soon since it was still cracked from the day you fell on it.

while you thought back to that day, it made you think of bakugo.

as you closed your eyes to drift off to sleep, you had only hoped he was doing okay.

-

2:30 am

you were never a heavy sleeper unless you had a really long day.

other than that, any little sound could wake you up.

so, when you heard your phone ringing, you were already reaching over to grab it.

without even bothering to check who it was calling you; you clicked the green answer button.

"hello?" you grumbled, you couldn't hear much on the other end aside from random sounds.

you pulled the phone down from your ear, checking the time and checking who it was that called.

it was 2:32 in the morning and the call was from bakugo.

you placed the phone back against your ear, he still hadn't spoken.

you sat up now in your bed as you rubbed your eyes with the back of your freehand.

"bakugo? are you alright?" you questioned; you heard him as he sighed.

"y/n, could you open your door?" he asked quietly, you didn't reply.

you dropped your phone from your ear, leaving it on your bed now.

you exited your bedroom as fast as you could running right to your front door.

to be cautious that it wasn't some sort of joke, you looked as fast as you could through the peephole.

you recognized that orange x anywhere that was a part of bakugo's hero costume.

you stopped looking through the peephole as you unlocked your door and yanked it wide open.

he was leaned against the wall across your apartment door. he was holding himself on his side as if he was hurting.

his face was covered in debris, and he had small scratches everywhere on him more than he already had before.

"get in here, please." you ushered him into your apartment. you took ahold of his other arm that wasn't holding the side of his stomach.

you walked in front of him slowly before setting him down on your couch.

you kneeled down in front of him, looking all over him and he couldn't even look at you in the eye.

he was embarrassed, and he wasn't all too sure why he came here in the first place.

"are you hurt?" you asked the most obvious question. he nodded his head slowly, you saw as he lifted up the hand that was covering his pain.

there was a cut through his black long sleeve shirt, and he was slowly bleeding.

"we have to get you to a hospital-" before you could finish your sentence, he finished it for you.

"no. this isn't as serious as it seems, this can be fixed by anyone. can you help me?" he stated.

without asking any other questions, you pushed yourself off the floor and pulled him off the couch.

you dragged him to your bathroom where you kept all the supplies to help him with his injury. turning on the bathroom light, you finally let go of him.

you made him stand there as you pulled out a supply kit that had all the essentials you needed.

as you set it down on the bathroom counter, you turned back to him, and he looked down at you.

you hadn't noticed how tall he actually was.

"you're going to have to take off your shirt, do you need help?" you muttered, just the other day you were admiring his physique now you were actually going to see it.

"oh... maybe. i can lift my arms up if you can pull it off for me." he replied quietly.

he lifted his arms as high as he could without trying to strain the cut that was on his side.

you gulped lightly before moving your hands to the hem of his shirt near his waistband.

you carefully untucked it; you hooked your fingers to the bottom of his shirt and slowly began to lift it up.

since he was taller, he bent down a little to help you get it off of him completely.

once the shirt was off of his body, he stood back up, and you took the shirt in hand before tossing it to the side.

"careful, that shirt is expensive." he teased, you rolled your eyes.

"it already has a huge slash through it, how expensive is it now?" you were now rummaging through the box you pulled out to get the solution to wash off the cut.

when you turned back to face him, you were faced with his bare chest.

you couldn't help but to stare, this was all that you had imagined the day previously you saw it poking through his shirt.

"you know, it's rude to stare. i always catch you doing it." he taunted you causing you to take the pad you had filled with the solution right on his cut with no warning.

this caused him to gasp and wince in pain, you sort of felt bad, but he only rolled his eyes at you.

"asshole! a warning would've been nice." he yelled at you causing you to chuckle.

"you'll be fine, this is probably nothing than what happened to you to get such a large cut." you replied, once you washed off his cut you carefully placed two huge band aids over it.

thankfully, it wasn't deep enough where it needed stitches, but it was still a bad cut.

once you were all done, you placed the remaining supplies back into the box and set it away to where it once was.

you turned back towards him; he was still shirtless.

it's not like he had a backup shirt or anything, despite what he said earlier, you still couldn't help but admire his body.

he had more scars that covered his chest, a predominant one that covered right over his heart.

the more you stared, the more self-conscious he felt causing him to say without thinking, "my scars aren't the prettiest, i know."

this snapped you out of the daze you were in, you looked at him directly in his eyes and all he could do was turn his eyes away from you.

you were in shock; you didn't expect him to think that way of himself.

"don't say that." you sternly told him; he looked right back at you.

he could see it in your eyes, you meant it.

"what? who would like-" before he could finish his sentence, out of instinct, you lifted up your hand to touch him.

usually, he wouldn't enjoy this.

but you just had patched him up, and he wondered how your skin would feel on his skin.

you hand softly went over the rough scars that covered his arm.

you traced the scars and followed them down his arm before your hand went over each scar that covered his chest.

bakugo could feel as his heart rate was sky rocketing.

he had never been touched so softly, especially on his scars which he didn't think anyone would want to touch them.

he watched you as your eyes followed your own hand over every single one of the scars, your eyes had a hint of empathy yet admiration.

"your scars aren't ugly, bakugo. they're apart of you to show how strong you are. you shouldn't feel ashamed of them, and no one should make you feel ashamed of them." you expressed to him.

as your hand traveled up to his most vulnerable scar, he softly grabbed your hand to stop you.

not because he didn't want you to stop touching him, but he didn't want you to feel how fast his heart was beating.

did you feel the same? were you going as crazy as he was right now? he wondered.

as you glanced up at him, he looked down at you.

the trance you were in of admiring his scars, you quickly snapped out of it realizing how close you two were.

you pulled your hand from his carefully and he dropped it with no hesitation.

the room was tense; you cleared your throat.

"shit- i'm sorry. feel free to use my shower. you're dirty." you sneered to lighten the mood; you were referring to all the dirt that covered his face.

he breathed out a small chuckle. you told him where the extra towels were, and that you'd lay out a shirt for him that you knew was too big for you.

he'd have to keep his hero pants on though because you had no bottoms for him.

he only nodded his head in agreement before you walked out the bathroom completely.

you heard as he turned the shower on, you walked towards your room and shut the door.

you leaned your back against it and covered your face in embarrassment.

you weren't sure what had come over you.

you touched him all over his scars without thinking or asking him if you could do that.

you could still feel how rough the scars were, but you weren't lying when you told him they weren't ugly.

you could feel as your heart was racing now, it wasn't before but that was because you were so caught up that you didn't really think of the situation.

before bakugo could finish his shower, you quickly laid down the shirt on your bed and left your room leaving the door open for him to grab the shirt.

you made your way to the couch where you sat in silence thinking about what just happened.

what seemed like forever, you heard as the shower turned off.

the bathroom door opened and bakugo made his way towards your room, he glanced around and saw how your phone was on your bed on the messages automatically between you and him.

he only chuckled to himself before he grabbed the shirt you left for him and made his way back to the bathroom.

he looked at himself in the foggy mirror that he was just able to see where you patched him up at.

he wasn't sure what made him come here.

he knew that his injury wasn't terrible, he could've easily patched himself up at home.

but he didn't want to be alone after the recent events that was going on in the city.

he was already working a lot, and he didn't get a lot of time to talk to you.

granted he checked up on you here and there, and he was always hoping that you'd tell him you needed someone to walk with you to work during the crisis.

but he knew deep down, you'd never do that.

he could tell you held yourself up and tried to handle it on your own.

while he wished you asked him for help, he also enjoyed that you were able to care for yourself.

he always wanted to carry on the conversation with you via text, he just didn't know how to.

it would eat him alive at work, on patrol, or even when he was at home.

all he wanted to do was to talk to you, but he couldn't get the right words through text.

so, when he was in the area after arresting a villain that happened to attack him as he was leaving.

he thought he wanted to see you right then and there.

it was not only selfish of him to do this so late at night, but it was also a fifty-fifty chance you'd actually answer.

and you did.

he liked that you didn't ask no other questions despite offering to go to the hospital.

it's like you understood him to not push any further and try to help him the best of your ability.

whether you noticed or not, his full attention was on you.

he watched you intensively as you grabbed the supplies you already had that was ready for him with no other questions.

he watched as you pursued your lips together when placing the band aid as accurately as you could onto him.

he knew teasing you would get more reactions out of you which he enjoyed seeing from you.

it made him want to entice you more.

he thought how you had touched him all over, he could feel his heart beginning to race again.

he took a deep breath in and out.

the way your eyes weren't wide open, but wide enough that you scanned all over him made him feel differently.

the more he thought about you, he could feel himself wanting more from you.

he wanted you to touch him again.

he wanted to touch you.

"bakugo, are you alright in there? you didn't pass out, right?" you asked through the door which snapped him out of his thoughts.

what am i thinking? he thought to himself.

he shook his head like he had to reset himself before opening the door.

there you stood before taking a step back.

he peered down at you and gave you a soft smile.

"i'm fine, idiot. do you think i'd pass out?" he mocked you.

"whatever." you replied as you walked away towards your couch.

he turned off the light in the bathroom before following after you.

he had all of his things held in his hand, as you took a seat on your couch, he stood off awkwardly to the side.

"i should get going." he muttered, he didn't want to, but he couldn't dare to stay here.

you glanced at a nearby clock, checking the time now it was 3:15 am.

you knew you'd be horribly tired in the morning for your shift, but you couldn't just let him leave now.

"are you dumb? it's already this late at night. you can sleep here, take my room. i'll sleep here on the couch." you replied as you stood up to grab the throw blanket you had nearby.

bakugo's mouth fell agape, "are you dumb? take your own bed, idiot. i'll take the couch."

"no, you better take my bed." you mumbled as you got comfier on the couch.

he only watched you; he couldn't believe this.

"this is your apartment."

"yeah, and you're the one who intruded on my peaceful night."

"what the fuck-"

"you could've just told me my apartment was a safe space for you-"

"idiot, it's not like that-"

"oh really-"

"it's not your apartment! it's y-"

before he had the chance to finish his sentence, he shut himself up.

you glanced over to him as you laid on the couch.

his ears were turning pink, but he still didn't finish his sentence.

he huffed before turning around heading straight for your room.

you heard him throw his items on the floor before getting in your bed, but he hadn't shut the door.

you only rolled over, snuggling deeper into the blanket and the couch cushions.

you felt as your heart was beginning to race again.

to ignore it, you quickly shut your eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

while you were sound asleep, bakugo couldn't find himself to drift off to sleep easily.

not only was he in your bed in your own apartment.

he was sleeping over. he didn't feel right to do this.

after a few minutes passed, he pushed himself up from the bed and grabbed his items off the floor.

he made his way back to the living room where he saw you.

you were sound asleep on the couch now, he didn't know what to do.

he still didn't want to leave but this didn't feel right.

he didn't feel right, his emotions were heightened with you.

he set his stuff down on the countertop of your kitchen and he carefully made his way to the opposite side of the couch.

he sat down, you were facing away from him, but he still looked at you.

this is ridiculous, was all he could think to himself.

he leaned back as he propped his legs on the small table that was in the middle of the living room.

he leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest.

he thought he would pick you up and move you into your own bed, but he wasn't sure if you'd wake up and get upset with him.

instead, he just closed his eyes before dozing off himself on your couch.

all he could think about was how crazy his heart was going before he drifted off to sleep.

Chapter Text

just as you expected, you could hear your alarm ringing from afar, but it was enough to wake you up.

you had forgot that you left your phone in your bed.

as you stretched yourself out from sleeping on the couch, you sat up and glanced over to the other side.

you noticed bakugo was tilted over although he was sitting up right, asleep.

you could only smirk to yourself, despite you telling him to take your bed, he chose to sleep on the couch.

you stood up as quietly as you could, you were surprised that your alarm wasn't waking him up.

you made your way as quickly but quietly as you could to your room, shutting the door carefully. you grabbed your phone to shut your alarm off.

you were definitely tired, but you knew that you still had to go to work.

making as little noise as possible, you did your usual get ready for work routine.

once you were all done, you checked the time. you had enough time to walk to work and not be late.

you exited your room in your usual work outfit, once you did, you noticed that bakugo was awake now.

he was still sitting on the couch, not facing you but you could hear as he was on his phone.

as you approached, he heard you causing to tilt his back over the couch.

he looked up at you and you looked down at him, "good morning."

"morning." he grumbled back, his voice was deeper than usual.

"i have to get going soon, you could always stay. but knowing what's been going on recently, they may need you out there, number five." you giggled to tease him.

he turned his head away from you, pushing himself off your couch.

he walked over to your kitchen counter where he left his belongings, he grabbed them in his hand, he looked like he was someone who was just kicked out.

"do you want a bag or something to carry that in? after all, your hero costume is ruined but i'm sure you have backups." you said as you walked over to your cabinet.

you reached for a reuseable bag which you handed over to him.

"first i have your shirt, and now i have a bag that seems like you use often. are you sure you're not trying to give me things so i'd bring them back and see you again?" he said as he gratefully took the bag from you placing his hero costume inside.

"please, i think you'll just show up unannounced. so, is it me who wants to see you or you who wants to see me?" you shot back at him.

he shut his mouth before scoffing, "yeah right, asshole. you're the one who let me in after all."

"was i supposed to let you suffer out there on your own?" you asked.

"no dumbass- that'd be up to you anyway. glad to know that you're there for me." he hummed.

now that you thought about it, in a sense, you were starting to care for him.

or maybe it was natural instinct for you to help someone who was injured.

but while you didn't express it much yesterday, you were worried about him.

you dropped your phone before you could even question why he was outside your door.

seeing him injured, while you knew it was a part of the job, it wasn't something you enjoyed seeing.

you wondered if this was something he tend to expect to happen while on the job, or he was immune to it now.

"let's go now." you told him as you both made your way out of your apartment.

today was gloomier than the other days had been, this was your favorite kind of weather.

as bakugo walked out, seeing the weather condition, he only sighed.

he hated anything that had to do with rain.

as you both made your way down your steps, you both looked at each other.

"so..." you started.

"thanks for yesterday. um," bakugo started as he held the bag in one hand and the other hand reached to scratch the back of his neck out of nervousness.

why was he so nervous? he wondered.

recalling what happened yesterday made him so nervous.

but he didn't want to bring it up especially if you weren't going to.

"i'll give you your shirt back when i can." he concluded his sentence.

he wasn't sure what else to say right now.

"i never asked for it back, you really do want to see me after all." you teased as you walked closer to him.

he only looked down at you and rolled his eyes, "whatever! you know what, i'll keep this shirt and burn it, you'll never see it again."

"it's not like it fits me anyway. do what you want!" you yelled at him.

you took you phone out to check the time and if you didn't start leaving now, you were going to be late.

"i have to go now, seriously this time." you told him, bakugo only nodded his head in agreement.

as you turned around to start walking in the opposite way towards work, bakugo spoke.

"uh, can i walk you to work?" he mumbled out.

without a verbal response, you turned to look back at him.

he stood there like a puppy who was lost.

cute.

you agreed and he smiled to himself before standing side by side with you, taking you to your job.

-

hours later

it was getting late now.

your job had made you stay back for overtime, and it was about 10 pm.

this was the first time in forever where you had worked this late, not that you are complaining, but all you wanted to do was get home.

recalling to earlier, after bakugo had dropped you off at work, the two of you said your goodbyes to each other and you watched as he walked away before entering your building.

as you were finishing up your final assignment before you could leave work, you remembered what happened yesterday.

you got embarrassed as you reminisced on what you had did to him.

you were glad that he wasn't all that harmed, but it felt intimate how you touched him.

you only hoped that this wouldn't make things awkward between the two of you.

the friendship that you were creating with him was one that you were hoping wouldn't be ruined.

you really did enjoy his company, and despite how you felt regarding pro heroes before, he was changing that narrative even if he didn't realize it.

you were slowly starting to feel better about yourself.

not everyone was destined to be a hero and while it's many people's dreams, there's heroes out there who really do love their job.

bakugo's stories of all the good things he's doing as a pro hero lifted you up and made you feel involved although you weren't a pro hero yourself.

you always had a deep-rooted insecurity, you didn't enjoy telling those who you weren't close to you that you were quirkless.

you wondered if bakugo had already assumed so and never mentioned it, or he still didn't know.

you felt awkward to tell him, he's so passionate about his job, how would he react? you wondered.

as you typed up the final sentence in the document you were working on, you stretched out your arms in the air and looked over to the huge building windows.

it was dark out, the only thing that kept the city lit up was all the streetlights and buildings nearby.

you submitted the document you were working on, you hadn't realized but you were the final one other than your boss in the office.

you stood up from your desk, walking over to your bosses office to let them know you were done.

they thanked you for your hard work and let you know that you were all good to go now.

you gave them a smile before walking back to your desk, logging out of your computer, grabbing your bag and heading towards the elevator.

as the elevator dinged to your floor, you entered and pressed the button for the ground floor.

amidst the elevator, you heard your phone ding.

you pulled your phone out from your back pocket and saw bakugo had texted you.

bakugo: what are you up to?

y/n: this is probably the most you've said in a sentence in a while

bakugo: oh whatever asshole, i'm busy

i don't have to fucking text you

y/n: no need for the attitude, only teasing you

i told you to use my number as much as you can or maybe i'll have to block you

bakugo: you wouldn't dare

y/n: you sure about that? we can put it to the test

bakugo: i fucking wish you would

can you answer my question?

y/n: you're off the hook... only for now

but i just got out of work

bakugo: just now? it's almost 10:15 pm

is that normal?

y/n: no but i don't mind

i'm heading home now

bakugo: do you need me to come get you?

y/n: i appreciate the offer, but i'm okay

bakugo: i'm out on patrol, i can always leave

y/n: really, i'm fine

it's not like i'm in a crisis, attend to those who are in a crisis

bakugo: can you

nevermind

stay safe then

y/n: you too

as the elevator dinged and the doors opened, you walked out and made your way out of the building.

walking down the streets, they were quieter now.

due to what was going on recently, a lot of citizens who were quirkless chose to stay indoors.

it was only natural for you to be worried too; you knew that you were vulnerable and that you could only defend yourself to a limit.

but that wouldn't stop you from putting up a fight, you were dedicated to doing everything that you could for yourself before you needed help.

while glancing around at the ghost town-like sidewalks, there were a few pro heroes that were patrolling throughout the city.

you kept your head up, making sure to check your surroundings as much as you could.

as you exited the city, it was almost so silent in the nearby neighborhoods that a pin could drop and you'd hear it.

you were so close to home, but of course, something just had to stop you.

as you were walking straight ahead, emerging from the dark walked a figure causing you to slow your steps.

it was a tall man, a man who was super buff and a man you remember seeing.

it was the same villain who had tried claiming you were his girlfriend almost a few weeks ago.

you gulped lightly, taking a few steps back as he took steps forward towards you.

he had that same stupid but devilish grin on his face.

"it's you. you're the one who made me go to jail. i've been wondering when i'll see you again." he gritted through his teeth.

you were nervous, but you couldn't stand down against him.

"really? i don't know what you're talking about." you toyed with him, probably wasn't the best idea but you'd rather act dumb than admit it.

"shut up! it is you, i remember your face. i've been wondering how those pro heroes knew i was lying, what did you do?"

you wanted to this end; you wanted to get home.

without answering, you reached into your bag as fast as you could pulling out the same pepper spray you had almost used on bakugo that one night.

you pointed it straight at the villain's face, aiming for his eyes.

you pressed down as hard as you could onto the button causing the spray to hit him right in the eyes.

this caused him to stop walking towards you, and he yelled as loud as he could in pain.

he fell to his knees, covering his eyes as he kept wailing.

this was your chance.

you turned around to run away from him but almost as he already knew your plan, he grabbed onto your leg to stop you causing you to smack onto the sidewalk as the pepper spray was released from your grip and rolling away.

he gripped onto your ankle and made sure it was tight, he was strong.

you started to groan as he tightened his grip even harder to prevent you from running away.

"let go of me you fucking bastard!" you yelled as loud as you could, you hoped that the pro heroes who were nearby on patrol would hear you.

"you're going to fucking pay for this!" he growled at you as he began to pull you closer to him against the sidewalk.

he still couldn't see although he attempted to open his eyes.

trying to think as fast as you can to get out of here, you used your free leg to kick him as hard as you could on his chest.

he didn't budge though but that didn't stop you from trying.

you continued to kick and kick before you raised your leg higher to his face which allowed you to kick him straight on his nose.

this caused him to stumble back and loosen his grip on your ankle; you yanked your leg away as fast as you could and crawled backwards.

he held his face in even more pain now; he knew that you had broken his nose.

before he had the chance to say something, you pushed yourself off the ground and began to run.

thankfully, you managed to still have your work bag where you placed your phone into a pocket.

without hesitation, you called the only pro hero that you knew must've been nearby.

"y/n-" bakugo started before he could hear the panting of your voice on the other end.

although he was on patrol and he shouldn't be on his phone, he couldn't resist the ringing in his pocket when he saw the call was from you.

he didn't expect to hear the state you were in.

"bakugo, please help me. i'm being fucking chased by the same-"

"where are you?" he sternly said through the phone, cutting you off.

the explanation of who was chasing you didn't matter; he just needed to find you.

he could hear the panic in the tone of your voice even if you tried to cover it up by being brave.

"i think i'm a few blocks from my apartment. i'm not sure, i just started to run. i don't know where i am exactly!" you yelled as your voice trembled.

"please just tell me any building you're around and i'll find you, trust me." bakugo attempted to reassure you.

he was out on patrol with kirishima who was now listening into his conversation.

as you continued to run, you could hear footsteps behind you.

you turned your head as fast as you could and realized the villain was chasing you now.

his eyes were red, but he could see through the blurry vision the figure of your body.

he was catching up with you again and he wasn't planning on stopping.

"y/n! tell me anything that you're fucking surrounded by!" bakugo yelled at you through the phone causing you to focus back on him.

you glanced around and you noticed you were near a hair salon that was pretty popular around your neighborhood.

you had only hoped bakugo knew where it was too, it was covered in bright neon lights.

"i'm nearby random hair salon name. please hurry, he's right-" before you had the chance to finish your sentence, you felt as the villain who was chasing you was directly behind you, and he grabbed ahold of your shirt.

this caused you to be yanked towards him and you dropped your phone from your ear.

he threw you against the wall of a building and your back was smacked against it.

this caused you to groan in pain and slowly slide down against the wall to the sidewalk.

all these thoughts began to run through your mind that only if you had been stronger or only if you had a quirk, all of this could've been avoided.

you had to rely on others for help, you couldn't do this by yourself.

as you slowly were coming closer to the ground, the villain lifted you up by the collar of your shirt.

he looked up at you; he had a look in his eye that you never want to see again.

you fought back with the last of the strength you had built up, you attempted to kick, punch, or anything to make him release you.

the only other thought that ran through your mind was bakugo.

where was he? is he coming? does he know where i am? you thought, you were getting exhausted.

"now that i got you, you can't go anywhere." he scowled still holding you up as tightly as he could.

as you were slowly accepting the fate about not being able to do anything anymore against him.

you felt weak, you were always going have to rely on others.

but what's so wrong with that? maybe i need the help, you continued in your thoughts.

from a distance, you could hear loud explosions.

this had placed more fear into you, had the villain called back up?

was this the way you were going to go out?

the villain heard the explosions too causing him to turn his head towards the booming noise, once he did, he could see a blurry figure and bright explosions coming straight for him.

you hadn't realized it sooner, but it was bakugo.

your eyes were shut closed out of fear of what was going to happen to you.

but once you felt your body collapse to the ground, you quickly opened your eyes and glanced around to see where the villain went.

you turned your head over to the side where you could hear constant groaning and moaning coming from the villain who had attacked you.

bakugo was on top of him, you knew it was him because of his hero costume and his hair.

you sighed a breath of relief.

he really did come for you, he knew where you were.

you watched as bakugo was pinning the guy onto the ground as he thrashed around trying to get out of his grasp.

you couldn't help but to feel more relieved than feel the pain from the incident.

but you were way too exhausted and all you wanted to do was shut your eyes.

-

bakugo could feel his heart racing and his blood pumping.

he searched all over the small neighborhood of your apartment to find where you were.

he knew this city like the back of his hand; it was just a matter of getting there in enough time.

he was pissed off; he knew that he shouldn't have listened to you and just decided to walk you home so late at night.

but he also knew that you held yourself up enough to the point that you'd just try to do it on your own.

but after hearing your trembling voice and not being able to hear you anymore, his heart dropped.

he didn't get the chance to inform kirishima where he was going but he knew that he'd eventually get the hint.

he left his patrolling unit with no hesitation.

you had told him to focus on a crisis, but now the crisis included you and he wasted no time to find you.

once he reached the building you had describe, he slowed his explosions down and he looked all around.

he couldn't find you.

it was driving him insane, why was it so fucking hard to find you?

he could feel himself slowly begin to panic, but he pushed that aside because there was something more important than how he felt right now.

he could hear someone talking, he listened closely and heard a male's voice.

without confirming whether or not it was the villain, he charged straight ahead with his explosions.

he was right, thankfully.

he saw as the villain held you against the wall, you were fighting so hard, he could see that.

it pained him to see you try so hard.

as he saw you slowly give up, he wasted no time and tackled the villain to the ground.

the villain was caught off guard; he spewed nonsense at him as bakugo pinned him harder against the ground.

"don't you fucking dare say another word or i'll really make it hurt." bakugo whispered in his ear, gritting his teeth as he bent the villain's arm even harder.

he could see how the villain's eyes were bright red and his face was bleeding.

bakugo knew you did a number on him, and he felt proud of you.

while he wishes you'd depend more on him or those around you, you were strong.

he held him down for a few minutes, only focusing on him for the moment.

he knew that nothing could happen to you now that he was here.

he heard footsteps approaching, he turned around and saw kirishima had finally caught up to him.

he observed the situation as fast as he could, kirishima saw you against the wall as you seemed to be unconscious and bakugo was pinning the villain against the pavement.

"kirishima. fucking take this douchebag, i'll take care of y/n." bakugo ordered and kirishima had no other questions.

they switched places, once bakugo was off of the villain, he turned his attention to you as you were sitting against the wall.

you were leaned a little to the side; he bent down in front of you.

"hey... can you hear me?" he whispered to you; he took a hold of your hand carefully in his glove.

your face scrunched up, you didn't verbally say anything, but the visual reaction was enough for bakugo to drop the sinking feeling that you weren't able to hear him.

"i told you i'd find you. i'll take care of you now." he carefully whispered to you; he was bent down on one knee as he grabbed ahold of you.

he hooked his arm underneath the back of your knees and using his other hand, he pulled you closer to him just under your armpit.

he was carrying you bridal style as he stood up on his feet.

he looked back at kirishima as he could hear police sirens in a distance.

"go man. i got it from here." kirishima reassured him, bakugo could only nod in response.

bakugo turned in the opposite way as he carried you away with him.

he could feel your breathing against his neck, you would occasionally shuffle or move under his grip which only made him tighten it.

"don't move, you're okay now idiot." he would reassure you hoping that his words could get through to you.

while he was glad to be carrying you close to him, he didn't want it to be like this.

he couldn't see any visible marks on you but that doesn't mean you weren't hurt.

the idea of you being hurt drove him insane, he should've really done more to the villain, but he wanted to attend to you before anything else.

after walking for what seemed like forever, he finally reached the doors of the building of his own agency.

he carefully walked himself into the medical unit he had added.

the doctors saw as bakugo walked in with you in his arms; they immediately rushed him over to a room where he carefully placed you on the bed.

you were still not responding verbally but you were breathing which was all bakugo wanted.

the doctors started working on you and bakugo could only watch, he hoped you'd be okay.

"you can go wait in the waiting room, dynamight." the doctor told him causing bakugo to send them a glare.

"i'm not fucking leaving, i'm staying right by her side."

Chapter Text

bakugo waited as patiently as he could near your bed side.

thankfully, the doctors told him that nothing severe had happened to you.

you had terrible bruising upon your back, and minimal cuts and scrapes on your legs.

but nothing that was going to affect you long term.

the doctors reassured him that you were responding through physical reactions.

so, they told him you were resting.

bakugo was never patient.

as he watched your chest carefully rise up and down as you slept, he couldn't help but wish you were awake.

he wanted to hear your voice and have you tell him that you were going to be okay.

as he was sitting in a chair that was provided by the medical unit near your bed, he stood up as he glanced down at your face.

you seemed so peaceful despite what you had gone through.

your face was perfect to him, even if it had any sort of injury, it'd still be perfect to him.

he hasn't found himself this worried over someone in a while.

he had dealt with enough of worrying during the war and he had hoped it would've ended since all of his closest friends and classmates were alive.

but since he has met you, he has new feelings which he hasn't encountered and overcame yet.

he thought he learned everything, but you were teaching him new things about himself.

he lifted his arm up and placed his hand into your hand carefully.

his fingers rested in the palm of your hand.

he wasn't sure what came over him, but he felt as if you needed a sign that someone was there for you.

you felt warm and he wishes that you never feel how it is to be cold.

as he slowly moved his fingers in your palm, you closed your hand causing you to grip onto his fingers and hold them tightly.

this caused him to snap back to reality, he looked over to you and you were still asleep.

the doctors did mention that you were reacting physically, so this was something you were bound to do.

his face slowly began to heat up, he wasn't sure what to do now.

he wasn't bothered over the fact you were holding his hand, even if you didn't mean to.

he was bothered that if you woke up and noticed what was going on, how would you react?

out of nowhere, the curtain that covered your room was ripped open suddenly causing bakugo to whip is head around.

"yoo, bakugo!" yelled the red-haired man that constantly causes bakugo's blood to rise.

kirishima walked in happily before freezing in his steps, he glanced over to you who was sound asleep and to bakugo who stood there near your bed side.

his eyes traveled to bakugo's hand that was grasped into yours.

he moved his eyes slowly back up to bakugo's face which was naturally becoming pink.

"kirishima, i'm going to kill you." bakugo gritted through his teeth before reluctantly pulling his hand away from yours to make sure you didn't wake up.

once his hand was away from yours, before kirishima had the chance to speak, bakugo turned him around and pushed him out of your room.

he pulled the curtain shut and continued to push kirishima far enough to where they weren't directly outside your room.

"bakugo, i didn't realize that she was-" kirishima said in a giggle before bakugo stopped walking.

kirishima was flipped back around by bakugo's force causing him to be face to face with him.

bakugo slammed his hand over kirishima's mouth.

"kirishima, not another word. what you saw wasn't anything you think it was." bakugo muttered slowly as he removed his hand.

kirishima wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand and laughed, "whatever you say man! she's a total cutie anyway, so who would blame you?"

this caused bakugo to send him a glare and kirishima stopped talking about it before he ripped his head off.

"do you have any news regarding the villain who attacked her?" bakugo questioned.

"yeah, that's what i came to tell you before i saw you-"

"dumbass, shut the hell up and tell me!"

"i'm only poking fun at you man!" kirishima laughed. "anyway, he's been detained again. with the new rising cases of villains that has been sprawled out over the city, they needed ‘room’ which is why he was released."

"are they fucking idiots? they're supposed to keep them locked up, i can't fucking stand them sometimes." bakugo grumbled.

"i know, but after what happened to y/n, he's bound to stay locked up this time. it seems he has no other connection to her which is something positive." kirishima tried to reassure him causing bakugo to huff.

"he should've stayed locked up in the first place, fucking idiots." he said as he ran his hand through his hair.

as kirishima and bakugo continued to discuss, they heard as someone ran into the medical unit.

"where is she? where's kirishima or bakugo?" mina yelled as she asked any doctor that was nearby.

kirishima turned around and mina spotted him; she ran towards him and fell into his arms.

"mina- what's going on?" kirishima asked as he held mina in his arms.

she pulled away and punched him in his gut.

"what the fuck!" he yelled as he held onto his stomach in pain.

"you asshole! why didn't none of you tell me y/n was in a fucking accident?" she yelled at bakugo and kirishima.

bakugo furrowed his eyebrows, "and exactly how do you know?"

"does that fucking matter? where is she, tell me right now!" she yelled only causing bakugo to roll his eyes.

"follow me." he told her as he took her to your room and kirishima followed behind in pain.

once they reached your room, they stood outside and the curtain was still closed to cover you.

"listen she's not awake right now. so, try not to be loud." bakugo whispered to mina and she looked up at him.

"the loudest one is telling me not to be loud? yeah that makes total sense."

"i'm not the fucking loudest one! i'm not going to argue with you-"

"yeah well i'm not either! you should've fucking told me, or he should've-"

"hey- i'm still in pain over your punch-"

"oh so sorry i didn't get a fucking chance to inform you but i was too busy trying to make sure she was okay-"

"whatever-"

"you guys do realize i can fucking hear you, right?" you wearily said loud enough for the three of them to hear you.

they all shut up, and mina ripped the curtain open.

you were sitting up now as the doctor was at your bed side.

"when did you fucking wake up? why the hell didn't you tell me?" bakugo yelled in frustration at the doctor.

"i just found out, she woke up minutes ago." the doctor huffed out.

"and you told me to be quiet..." mina grumbled under her breath causing bakugo to send her a glare.

"well, since everyone is here, y/n is doing fine. as i told bakugo previously, she has pretty bad bruising to her back and some cuts here and there on her legs. but she should be fine to leave tonight." the doctor stated and everyone was relieved.

"i'm going to give you an ointment that will help with the bruising and aching of the injuries, make sure to apply it twice a day and naturally they will go away with time. if no one has any questions, i'll leave now." the doctor said, you only nodded your head and the doctor left your room.

mina rushed over to you and pulled you into a hug which caught you off guard causing you to groan.

"mina, be gentler dumbass. did you not hear what the doctor just said?!" bakugo scolded her and mina pulled back.

"i'm sorry, y/n! i was so worried about you, i hope i didn't cause more pain." she said to you as she ignored bakugo and pulled back from the hug.

she was sitting on the side of your bed and holding your hand into hers.

bakugo rolled his eyes, he got to hold your hand first and he wanted to do it again.

"i'm okay, don't worry. my back fucking hurts but other than that, i'm good." you reassured her and she smiled at you.

"is the villain who did this in custody?" mina asked and kirishima explained the situation to her.

she was naturally just as upset as bakugo was, he should've stayed locked up.

as mina and kirishima were discussing how dumb the system could be, you sat there in a daze.

while you thought you were okay, you couldn't believe it happened to you.

you remembered back to the incident as you fought hard to get away from him, but you were no match for him.

the physical pain didn't hurt as much as the emotional pain it was having on you.

"y/n, are you alright?" mina asked causing you to snap out of your thoughts.

you looked up which you noticed all three of them were staring at you, you gave a soft smile and nodded your head.

"yeah, i'm tired is all. i want to go as soon as possible." you mumbled, mina stood up from your bed and walked closer to you.

she placed a soft kiss on your forehead, and you hummed in response.

"i'm glad you're okay. i'll give you some time to relax, call me if you need anything." she said as she began to walk away.

"wait- i don't have my phone." you replied and bakugo sighed.

"yeah, about that, your phone was damaged due to the incident. so you won't have one for a bit." he told you and you only glanced down in response.

without saying another word, all three of them walked out of your room and pulled the curtain shut.

you were alone now, and you felt like a total burden.

you never expected it to happen to you although you were quirkless, but now that you experienced it, it changed how you thought about yourself.

you did need the help, and you were always going to need help.

you weren't strong enough to defend yourself against those who had more than you.

you could only wish that you had a quirk and didn't have to rely on others.

but a wish could never change the reality of your situation.

as you were lost in your thoughts, the sound of the curtain pulling open caught your attention causing you to look up.

bakugo walked in slowly, he looked down at you.

you wondered if he pitied you, and that he felt obligated to take care of you since it felt as you couldn't do it yourself.

bakugo held a bag in his hand, you noticed the bag was the one you gave him in the morning to carry his clothes from your apartment.

"here, change into this and we can go. the doctor cleared you." he said as he threw the bag onto your bed.

you grabbed the bag and noticed it was a new change of clothes, you look back up at him and he just stood there.

"are you going to leave or do you want to watch me, bakugo?" you teased causing him to widen his eyes.

he quickly made his way out of your room and pulled your curtain shut.

you giggled as you carefully pushed yourself to the side of the bed before getting off completely.

you took off the hospital gown the medical unit had put you in and slowly slipped into the change of clothes provided by bakugo.

you weren't sure where they came from, but it didn't matter.

anything was better than being in that hospital gown.

once you were done, you folded up the hospital gown and placed it on your bed.

you slowly made your way to the curtain, it hurt to walk as the pain ached down, and your legs were exhausted.

you pulled it steadily with your hand which revealed bakugo standing there.

"you ready?" he asked, and you nodded your head.

he began to walk himself out of the medical unit as you followed behind him, only you were ten times slower than him.

he stopped which forced you to catch up to him, he glanced down at you.

"come on, grandma." he chuckled causing you to send him a glare.

"i just got into an accident, and that's how you treat me? wow." you muttered playfully.

"fine, may i?" he asked as he stopped walking.

you gave him a confused look as he bent down low enough and looked back at you.

he was balancing on his feet and motioning for you to get on his back.

"what are you doing? get up, everyone is looking at us." you said as you could feel the hospital staff eyes on the two of you.

"who cares? either get on or i'll leave you behind." he told you; you only sighed.

you had no other choice, and you didn't want to go back and forth with him.

you approached him as you placed your arms on his shoulders and wrapping them around him.

you couldn't lift your leg far enough but that was no issue, bakugo stood up in an instant and hooked his hands under your thighs to carry you.

"this is stupid." you mumbled in his ear, you could feel the eyes on you still and you were embarrassed.

"i think it's more embarrassing how slow you were walking compared to me." he told you causing you to scoff.

"what do you expect? and do i have to do anything else or am i going home?" you asked as he began to make his way out of the medical unit.

"don't worry about it, mina took care of it." he told you.

"speaking of, where are they?" you wondered.

"they left, i told them it was fine and i'd take care of you." he said causing you to smile.

"aren't you the sweetest? first, you save me. now you're taking care of me, that's very pro hero of you." you playfully said.

as he made his way out, you entered the lobby of what you thought was a hospital, but you were wrong.

it was filled with pro heroes either chatting or making their way in and out of the building.

the more you glanced around, you realized this wasn't a hospital.

"where am i?" you asked, you were entranced in all that was going around you.

"this is my agency, idiot." bakugo told you as you made your way outside.

you were dumbfounded, you didn't know he had a whole agency.

but what more did you expect from the number five hero?

without any notice, he bent down which allowed you to get off his back.

as you pulled back, you got a clear view of his back muscles that poked through his hero costume.

you were focused on other things that you didn't notice how built his back was.

he stood up and opened a car door, he signaled for you to get in.

you carefully made your way into the passenger seat of the car and buckled yourself in, bakugo shut the door and made his way to the driver side.

once he was inside, he buckled himself in.

"do you enter anyone's car with no further questions?" he teased you causing you to roll your eyes.

"no but since i'm with you, i'm sure it's safe." you told him as you looked out the window.

you saw how tall his agency building was and how busy it was.

the building blended in with surrounding buildings but there were some accents that made it known it belonged to bakugo.

the car began to move as bakugo drove carefully, the radio was on but on a low volume.

you continued to look out the window; you shifted around to make yourself comfortable in the passenger seat as much as you could.

you looked over to him and he drove with one hand on the steering wheel and the other was placed on top of his thigh.

he was focused on the road as you admired him.

he looked good in the streetlights as you passed them.

they hit certain areas in his face that shined brighter than others.

you cleared your throat as your face began to get hot, "thank you."

"what for?" he questioned as he never took his focus off the road.

"for coming to help me, obviously." you cooed.

"what did you think i was going to do? leave you out there? you told me to help those in a crisis and then you got yourself in one." he chuckled.

"it wasn't my plan to! i just wanted to go home, dipshit."

"dipshit? that's new." he laughed.

"whatever." you grumbled as you looked back out the window.

"don't give me that. i saved you tonight after all, i don't deserve to be treated like this." he said as dramatically as he could.

"that's quite literally your job. i'm no different than any other citizen that needs help." you muttered and silence fell in the car.

bakugo wanted to tell you that you were different.

that he cared about you differently than he would anyone else.

he couldn't find the words to say it even if it seemed easy.

"we live two different lives, bakugo. i thank you normally as anyone else would thank a pro hero for saving their life. it's natural for you to save me." you said to break the silence.

bakugo gripped onto the steering wheel tighter although you didn't notice.

you weren't wrong, you were living two different lives.

but everything else you said was wrong.

he didn't do that all because he was a pro hero and it was his job.

he did it because he didn't want anything to happen to you, ever.

and the fact that something did happen to you drove him crazy although you were okay.

he cleared his throat, he had to say something.

"i didn't do that because i'm a pro hero. hearing your voice on the other end of the phone was enough to make me find you." he expressed and you glanced over to him.

he held an expression on his face that you haven't seen from him before.

you felt as the car came to a stop and he placed the car in park.

he looked over to you making direct eye contact with you.

"i am a pro hero, y/n. yes, it's natural for me to come rescue those who are in need," he started as he kept eye contact with you. "but, i was willing to drop everything to find you. i wouldn't do that for anyone."

you felt something tingle in your heart; this was something you needed to hear.

he made it sound as if you weren't a burden to him.

he did what he did because he wanted to, not because it was his duty.

you drooped your eyes and broke eye contact with him as you looked back out the window.

you rested your head in the palm of your hand.

"i'm not strong enough to care for myself, i want to be." you mumbled.

you hadn't expressed this to anyone in a while.

but with bakugo, it felt natural to confide in him.

bakugo could only watch you from the reflection of his window, he sighed.

"you are strong, y/n. do you realize how much willpower it takes for someone to fight off a villain? you kept going, you never gave up." he said as he leaned closer to you even if you weren't looking at him.

he wanted you to look at him.

he wasn't able to express himself this freely, but it felt natural when it came to you.

"did you not see the injuries you did on that villain? shit, i was proud of you. don't say you aren't strong because you are. although i came to your aid doesn't make you any less strong than what you are. everyone needs help sometimes."

this caused you to turn your head to face him and you realized how close he was now.

your face was inches apart from him and all he could do was stare at you.

"does that apply to you too?" you asked quietly and he breathed out.

he hadn't thought of it like that before.

he realized how much those around him need help, but he never thought to wonder if he needed the help himself.

he's been through so much and he's chosen to suppress it as a way of coping.

but was it really benefiting him?

he needed help as much as anyone else did, yet he was scared to seek it.

he was scared to come face to face with his past.

without a response, he moved back into his seat and unbuckled his seatbelt.

"let's go." he said as he reached for the door handle to step out.

you looked through his windshield, you realized you weren't at your apartment.

"where are we?" you asked causing him to look back at you before stepping out of his vehicle.

"my apartment."

Chapter Text

"what? why are we at your apartment!" you yelled from inside the car as bakugo made his way over to the passenger side.

he could hear you from inside the car, but he chose to ignore you.

he opened the passenger car door and looked at you causing you to look up at him.

your face was a bright shade of red and bakugo couldn't understand why.

he had already been in your apartment, what makes this any different?

but you couldn't believe he would bring you to his apartment, it almost felt sacred to be here since he was a pro hero.

"are you thinking dirty thoughts? i didn't take you as that kind of woman." bakugo said to you with a smirk that formed on his lips.

"you're wrong! you could've told me instead of just taking me here, you never tell me things prior to you doing it." you yelled at him as he leaned his arm against the door of his own vehicle.

"you're sounding very ungrateful, good luck getting out of the car." he said as he pushed himself off the door, turning around and walking his way towards his apartment.

you watched as he genuinely walked away, you only scoffed.

you slowly turned your body out of the car so that your feet were outside touching the curb that was nearby.

you took a deep breath in and out before using all the strength you had left to push yourself up from the seat.

once you were able to force yourself out from the seat and you stood on the curb; you slowly walked away from the passenger door, so you were far enough from the car to shut the door.

the pain ached a lot, but you pushed through it.

"and you want to say you're not strong." bakugo commented as he watched you from a distance.

you looked at him as he could only admire you and began to make his way closer to you.

"don't try to help me now, i got it." you muttered as you began to steadily make your way to him before he got to you.

but you were too slow, he didn't say anything as he made his way behind you.

without saying another word, he used his arm to scoop your legs into the nook of his elbow, and his other arm held your back as softly as he could make it feel.

"bakugo, you fucking dipshit! put me down right now!" you protested, you could feel your heartbeat begin to race and your face becoming hot.

"shut up, will you? i got sick of watching your slow ass try to catch up so, this makes it easier. accept my fucking help, idiot." he told you as he looked at you.

the way he was carrying you made it easier to see his face closer than you had ever seen it.

the scar that was near his eye was right in front of your eyes and it looked the same as all his other scars; rough but delicate.

his red eyes pierced through your eyes as close as your faces were, you knew that he could probably feel your heartbeat, but you couldn't do anything to stop it.

you looked away and made a face that made him chuckle.

without another word, he started to walk with you in his arms to his apartment.

he was able to unlock his door somehow with you in his arms that impressed you.

unlike your apartment, he didn't have a corridor that allowed him to have multiple neighbors on one floor.

his apartment was more like a condo.

once you both were in his entryway, he kicked the door shut with his foot and now you were in his place.

his home had no distinct smell, but it smelled fresh as if it was new.

you looked around in the dark and noticed that the place itself was dark with all the decor he had.

he made his way further inside which you were met with his living room. his living room was something you envisioned it to look like.

dark, but comfortable.

he had medals of recognition that were placed onto his shelves, and he had random items that you assumed to be from citizens he saved on the same shelves.

it was cute to see he honored things such as this; it probably made him feel better about being a hero.

he had a few photos on bookshelves of what seemed to be of his friends and classmates from his days in U.A.

he bent down which allowed you to slip out of his arms onto your feet. you fixed your pants and looked up at him, he glanced down at you.

"thanks for that while i didn't ask for it." you said and bakugo rolled his eyes.

"this is the last time i'm going to ever help you if you keep being ungrateful." he scoffed causing you to giggle.

"take a seat for now, idiot. i'll be back in a bit." he said as he walked away from you.

he began to strip off parts of his hero costume and placing them on a nearby table.

you watched him as he took everything off and he was just in his tight hero costume; you could never get over how good he looked in it.

"quit staring." he mumbled before he walked away completely causing you to get embarrassed.

to take your mind off on what had happened to you tonight, you made your way to his sofa which you plopped down on.

the cushions were so soft that it felt like you were on a cloud.

it didn't feel uncomfortable unlike his passenger seat so your back was feeling great relief.

you grabbed the remote that was placed on a small table in front of you, and you clicked the power button to turn on the tv which the channel was already on the news.

it was weird to see the news running so late, so with no real interest in it, you were about to click away until something caught your attention.

"and here we are again at the crime scene, a villain was taken down not too long ago by no other than top hero, ranked number five, dynamight!" the news reporter said in the microphone.

you realized that they were broadcasting your incident although you just wanted to get it off your mind.

but your eyes were glued to the tv screen, and you couldn't resist looking away or changing the channel.

"with the rising cases of villains, these reports are coming more and more than we expect. but this story is a little different, dynamight was seen taking down the villain in a swift move!" they said as they showed a clip of bakugo tackling the villain down that was holding you up.

you weren't sure how they got footage of it, but looking back on the scene, you saw how pathetic you looked to fight against him when he was clearly stronger than you.

"after successfully taking him down, the infamous red riot arrived on the scene and took over for dynamight! you're probably wondering, how is this different from any other case from our pro heroes?" the news reporter said in a chuckle.

"well, here we can see our top hero take ahold of the citizen he saved, so delicately. now, is that really our dynamight that we know?!" they yelled in amusement.

you watched intensively as another clip was shown of bakugo kneeled down in front of you as he attempted to talk to you.

you didn't remember this happening because you were knocked out, but you saw as he carefully took you into his arms just like he had not even ten minutes ago.

the clip was gone, and the news reporter had a huge grin on their face, "who is this mysterious woman? could this be someone important to dynamight? we've never seen that hothead so calm, especially towards random citizens. doesn't everyone remember him during the war-"

before the news reporter had the chance to finish their sentence, you felt as the remote was ripped from your grip and bakugo was standing behind the sofa as he was leaned over you.

he shut the tv off and threw the remote to the other side of the sofa, you bent your neck over the sofa as you looked up at him.

his jaw was visibly clenched but you couldn't focus on that for long as you noticed that his hair was wet and he had no shirt on.

you instantly whipped your head up and turned to look at him, he stood there in pajama pants that hugged his waist but no shirt in sight.

"put on a fucking shirt!" you yelled as you turned around to look away from him.

this seemed to snap bakugo out of his anger that he was fueling, he had only heard the last sentence of the news report and that wasn't something he didn't want you to see or hear.

he put two and two together as realized this was how mina found out you had been in an accident.

this wasn't good for not only him but for you either.

he didn't care what the media had to say about him, he always found himself in speculations and rumors.

but you, he didn't want his chaotic hero life to ruin yours.

you didn't deserve to be caught up in his troubles, but he knew that the only way to make it stop or lessen would have to be through distance.

that was something he didn't want to even think about.

"are you fucking serious! this is my house, and you already saw me shirtless so what's the issue, dumbass?" he yelled at you.

"i don't care! put one on now!" you yelled back causing him to roll his eyes.

he had a shirt on his shoulder that he was going to put on regardless, but seeing you flustered was making him feel good.

"yeah, yeah. i will, asshole." he mumbled as he grabbed the shirt off his shoulder to throw it on over his body.

you glanced over your shoulder as you peeked through your fingers that were covering your face to see if he had a shirt on now which he did.

he walked away from you towards his kitchen and out of curiosity, you pushed yourself off of the sofa and began to follow him.

you thought back to what you just heard on the tv, you weren't sure how you felt about it.

it was weird seeing the news be about you rather than another citizen.

now unnecessary rumors were going to circulate around bakugo possibly making his job more difficult to maintain while on patrol especially if the media got involved.

you were starting to feel that sense of dread that you were causing more problems than solutions for him.

you remembered back to what mina told you a few days ago that you would be perfect for him to be the peace in his life, but all you felt was that you were adding more obstacles.

how could someone who's not strong enough to defend themselves bring peace to a pro hero?

being quirkless just fuels wariness to those close to them because they can't handle anything on their own.

with all these new feelings building up, you knew you shouldn't be here any longer.

it'd be best to distance yourself from him, although you didn't want to because you were drawn to him.

once you both entered the kitchen, bakugo went straight to his fridge and started to rummage through it.

he pulled out ingredients which made you realize that he was going to cook dinner, and you couldn't allow him to do that, you needed to leave.

"bakugo, i should probably-" you started as you stood as far as possible from him.

"go take a shower, you stink." he cut you off, he knew what you were going to say.

but he didn't want you to leave.

"no, listen, i shouldn't be-"

"y/n, i really don't care what you have to say. go shower."

"bakugo, please-"

"y/n." he sternly said as he glanced over his shoulder to look at you.

this caused you to look straight into his gaze before looking away.

you could only turn around and make your way to his bathroom, you knew he was going to be stubborn and not let you leave.

once you entered his bathroom, you saw he laid out towels and a new pair of clothes already.

the clothes consisted of a shirt that you knew was going to be way too big for you and a pair of sweats that possibly wouldn't fit either since he was bigger than you.

you smiled softly to yourself, and regardless of what you thought of yourself, bakugo felt differently about you.

-

once you took a long awaited shower, you threw on the clothes that bakugo provided which you were right, they were huge on you.

you weren't going to complain though, they had smelled like him, and it warmed your heart.

you made your way out of the bathroom where the smell of different spices hit your nose at once causing you to almost fall right there.

it smelled so good that you never realized how starved you were.

making your way towards the kitchen, you felt better than you had before.

bakugo was doing the final touches to his dinner that he prepared for the two of you, he set your plate down first at the stool top table as he went to go finish his own.

once you entered the kitchen, he could see you out of the corner of his eye and without making it noticeable, he took a good look at you up and down.

he knew you would look good in his clothing; it was his style after all.

but seeing it on you made him feel differently inside, he looked away as he could feel his heart beating faster.

he cleared his throat and to break the silence you said, "this looks great, i can't believe you know how to cook."

"can't believe? i know how to do a lot, thanks asshole. but it's something my mom taught me as i grew up." he replied as he finished his own plate and set it down a few seats from you.

he washed his hands off and you took yourself in the seat of the plate you assumed was yours allowing him to sit in the other seat nearby you.

in silence, you both started to eat off your plates. as the flavors hit your tongue, you couldn't help yourself but hum in pleasure.

"okay, you're a fucking great cook. i'm impressed." you mumbled with a mouth full of food making bakugo chuckle.

"did you expect it to taste bad?" he asked and you shook your head.

"no- well, maybe. i never know what to expect with you." you replied as he rolled his eyes.

"i'm glad you're enjoying it." he said with a soft smile.

the more you ate, the more you were feeling better about yourself that it could've made you forget about tonight's incident.

you looked over to bakugo as he ate silently, you were now wishing he had not put a shirt on. but you knew that if he didn't, all you would do is stare.

"listen, about what you saw on the news," he mumbled awkwardly as he was starting the final bites of his food. "that isn't something i want you to worry about unless you are worried about yourself and how it could affect you."

"what do you mean?" you questioned as he took a deep breath in and out.

he knew saying this could hint at the idea of distance between the two of you.

"it isn't easy being caught up in stupid rumors with a pro hero, you're destined sooner or later to get questioned by either random citizens or even the fucking stupid media." he grumbled and you could tell he had a hatred for the media.

"that isn't really an issue at all. i mean, i expected as much even if it wasn't you who saved me. the way they treat citizens after an incident is horrible enough, but i expected as much after hearing about cases lately." you replied as bakugo shook his head.

"and that's not a fucking life you or anyone deserves to live. you don't deserve to be bombarded after going through something that affected you."

"neither do you, stop thinking only of citizens and think of yourself too." you countered causing him to look over at you.

you finished all the food on your plate, and he smiled to himself as he took the final bites to finish his own plate.

"i don't have to worry about me, i can handle my own problems. this is something i'm used to since i've been a teenager." he added.

"and is the rumor they're spreading around a rumor you want to hear constantly? that i'm possibly someone important to you, or that i'm more than a citizen you saved?" you dreaded asking him.

he shot a glare your way, how could you only focus on how he'd feel and not yourself?

without a reply, bakugo stood up grabbing his plate as he walked over to you to grab your finished plate from you too.

with no reply, it only confirmed your thoughts that he would be bothered by the media and the rumor going around.

he made his way to his sink where he washed off all the dishes before placing them in his dishwasher, he was thinking of the right words to say.

as he placed the final dish in the washer, he shut the door carefully and it was silent.

"i don't care about the rumors, and even if i did, i'd rather them be about you than anyone else. you're more than a citizen to me, idiot." he muttered as it pained him to express himself this way.

you looked up at him, but you were only faced with his back.

you heart felt warm again, it was nice to be reassured of your worries.

"you're more than a pro hero to me, bakugo. i mean it when i say i'm not worried about the rumors and what could come from it. i initially had these thoughts of something bad emerging from it, but i was only worried about you." you responded and bakugo could feel his heart start to feel weird.

it wasn't the usual rapid beating that you would cause, but it was a tingle of happiness.

he turned around which he looked at you as you sat on the stool.

you gave him a smile; he could've sworn his heart did a backflip.

you were exactly what he needed, he realizes that now.

he felt comfortability to know that you cared for him, and the media wouldn't affect the relationship you had with him.

"i want to know more about you, bakugo." you quietly said as you played with your fingers, avoiding eye contact.

he moved closer to you from the opposite side of the countertop, he leaned forward as he placed his arms down.

he was bent over the countertop on his elbows, and he was directly in front of your face.

"what do you want to know?" he questioned as he watched you.

"anything, i want to know more about you outside of your pro hero life. you intrigue me." you hummed and he felt another tingle to his heart.

"i always knew i did, you could've said something sooner." he teased which made you look at him and roll your eyes.

he could only stare back into your eyes, he felt it deep within his heart that this was more becoming more than a friendship to him.

he was going to give you whatever you asked for.

he pushed himself up from the counter and walked around back to the stools, he sat right next to you this time.

you looked at him as he looked down at you.

before you knew it, bakugo started talking to you regarding his life before you and his life when he's not working.

he mentioned a lot of his favorite hobbies he has outside of work, his time at U.A, and what it was like growing up.

the more you listened and gave small responses, you saw how happy he looked as he talked about his own experiences especially when it came to his time at U.A.

he didn't get into the details regarding anything of the war like the news had mentioned, and you weren't going to ask either.

no matter what could've happened to him, it was clear to you that it was traumatic enough to make him turn off the tv so you wouldn't hear it.

you weren't sure if you'd ever hear about it, but you weren't going to search for it yourself, you wanted him to come to you.

as he talked, you could focus on all his features freely without having to hear his snarky remarks about not staring at him.

you couldn't help yourself; he was the prettiest boy you ever seen.

you found yourself admiring him more and more which made your heart flutter.

and thinking back on it, all your worries disappeared after bakugo had reassured you whether he meant to or he did it naturally.

he was exactly what you needed, you realized that now.

as any thoughts or concerns for yourself began to start in your mind, it felt like he could notice them and say the right words to bring you back to your senses.

you didn't feel like a burden to him, and you didn't feel as if it only had to be you to handle things alone.

he was willing to help as long as you reached your hand out because he knew you still wanted to do things on your own.

you were strong, and he was only making you stronger.

while you both were lost in the conversation, you started to shift around in the stool out of discomfort.

bakugo noticed and realized that this probably wasn't the best seat for you or your back.

"it's getting late, and i think you learned enough about me to blackmail me one day. let's get you to bed." he chuckled causing you to smirk.

"yeah, you shouldn't have trusted me. who knows what may happen in the future but don't be surprised if a rumor leaks and it was something you only told me." you playfully said as you pushed yourself off the stool.

"already picturing your life without me asshole? i must mean nothing to you." he grumbled as he pushed himself out of the stool and you laughed.

"that's not true." you replied and bakugo could feel his heart tingle.

he led the way to his room as you followed behind him, once he opened the door, his room was almost identical to his living room.

he had a huge bed that was covered in black sheets that was freshly made with small decor here and there.

"take the bed, i'll sleep on the couch." he told you as he started to rummage through his closet for a blanket.

"no, take your own bed. i don't mind the couch, the cushions were so soft it felt like i was on a cloud." you told him and he scoffed.

"didn't you practically force me to take your fucking bed last night?"

"yeah, which you didn't even sleep on? i could've been in my own-"

"whatever! it didn't feel right-"

"you could've told me dipshit-"

"just take my bed, dumbass." he grumbled as he was holding onto a throw blanket and making his way out the room to the living room.

"wait," you started as he stopped in his footsteps and looked back at you, "stay with me."

bakugo could feel his heart drop.

he turned around to look at you, and his face was heating up, he couldn't stop it.

"what?" he managed to whisper as you awkwardly stood there.

you weren't sure why the hell you said that, but you didn't want his presence to leave.

"lay in bed with me. it's not weird so don't make it weird, idiot." you mumbled as you made your way into his bed.

he watched you as you untucked the comforter, laid in the bed carefully before throwing the comforter over you.

you looked at him, "are you going to join me in your own bed or not?"

he was still in shock, but he set the throw blanket down on the floor and quietly made his way to the open side of his bed.

he looked down at you, he wasn't sure if this was right to do.

"quit being a pussy." you chuckled.

"i'm not a fucking pussy! i just didn't expect this from you, i knew you were thinking dirty thoughts about me and this is your way to get me into bed."

"shut the hell up! you're the one who's dirty for thinking that. i'm going to sleep, goodnight." you yelled back at him as you shut your eyes.

he rolled his eyes, he untucked the side of his comforter and carefully made himself comfortable on his side of the bed.

he was laying on his back as he turned his head over to look at you, you were laying on your back as well as you had your eyes shut.

he couldn't help but notice how pretty you looked; his heart rate began to race again.

his mind didn't allow any dirty thoughts to take over; he was just glad to be close to you.

he flipped over to lay on his side that faced towards you, and he watched as your lips parted.

something about this made his heart go crazy, they looked so soft.

you furrowed your eyebrows as if you were in discomfort from laying on your back and in a swift move, you flipped on your side too which was facing him.

you two were so close to each other that bakugo was going to lose his mind.

he wanted to pull you closer into him and hold you softly in his arms.

but this wasn't the time, he was already trying to come to terms with his feelings.

as he closed his eyes to fall asleep, the sound of his heartbeat was driving himself insane that he wasn't sure how he was going to sleep tonight.

it sounded ten times louder and as he tried to block it out, he realized that it wasn't only his heart.

he could hear yours beating along with his.

he opened his eyes as he looked at you although you were asleep now.

he could only smile as he closed his eyes again and fell asleep peacefully knowing it wasn't only him.

both of your hearts were beating crazily for each other.

Chapter Text

bakugo was shifting around uncomfortably in his own bed as the sun shined in from the window.

he felt something on top of his chest, he wasn't sure what it was since he had slept alone last night, or so he thought.

as his eyes fluttered open, he was met not only with the bright sunlight but a head full of hair that rested on his chest.

he widened his eyes and before he made any sudden moves, he took a deeper look at what was going on and recalled the events from last night.

during the time the two of you were asleep, you found your way on top of his chest and was cuddled into it.

bakugo could feel as his heart was beginning to rapidly beat, he was in a deep sleep that made him forget that you were in bed with him.

as panic set in, he realized that as his heart was going way too fast that you may be able to hear it and wake up from it.

hesitantly, he managed to slip your head off his chest in attempt not to wake you.

as he held your head, he rested it back on your side of the bed on the pillow.

your face only scrunched up but that wasn't enough to wake you.

crawling himself out slowly from his side of the bed, once his feet were on the floor, he walked as fast as he could out of the bedroom.

he had no time to shut the bedroom door; he booked it straight to his bathroom.

shutting the bathroom door, he looked at himself straight in the mirror.

his face was bright red, and he could not only feel but see that he was breathing heavily.

not only was his face flustered over this, but he also had an issue that was occurring elsewhere on his body.

turning on the sink faucet, he splashed his face with cold water in an attempt to calm himself down and prevent himself from thinking anything dirty.

he looked back at his reflection in the mirror as his face was drenched, he felt pathetic that you had this effect over him.

reaching over to grab a towel off the rack, he dried his face off and turned the faucet off.

he threw the towel aside and left his bathroom, he walked towards his room again and took a peek inside through the crack of the door.

sprawled out all over his bed, you were still asleep.

he chuckled before walking away allowing you to continue to sleep, you deserved it.

making his way towards the kitchen where he found his phone charging, he grabbed it and checked the time that read 10 am.

he was used to getting up earlier than this, he couldn't believe he slept in.

scrolling through his notifications; he noticed he had a few from mina.

mina: hey, where the fuck is my best friend?

i tried to knock on her apartment door and no one answered

and of course, i can't contact her

you said you would take care of her, or did you mean kidnap her?

bakugo: shut the hell up, she's alright

she's at my place

mina: YOUR place?

what is going on with you?

bakugo: what the hell are you talking about?!

mina: bakugo, tell me when has any other woman been to your place?

i haven't even been there!

bakugo: i've had plenty of women over, asshole

she's no exception

mina: what the fuck are you trying to say dickhead?

release my fucking best friend right now

bakugo: this conversation is over

mina: it's not!

before bakugo could read another message, he shut his phone off and dragged his hands over his face.

he was lying to mina; this was the first time in a while where a woman had been over his place.

he's attempted to bring over women before, but he could never do anything more with them or he never felt a true connection, so they always resulted in nothing.

it was another lie when he mentioned you were no exception, you were in his bed currently and that definitely hasn't happened before.

he didn’t want to go into detail with mina regarding how he felt or why he allowed you over, but he realizes he didn’t have to say that either.

he was bad at expressing himself, sometimes. all he wanted was to be left alone and not bombarded with questions early in the morning.

lost in his own thoughts about the conversation with mina, he heard shuffling coming from his bedroom.

he peered his head over the wall to see you were stumbling down the hallway as you rubbed your eyes to wake up.

a smile overcame his face as you looked at him, your hair was all over the place and you looked exhausted.

"good morning." you mumbled as you got closer to him.

"good morning, idiot. you sleep well?" he laughed as he was referring to your appearance.

"i must've if i didn't feel you get out of the bed. my back is fucking killing me, do i have the ointment prescribed by the doctor?" you questioned and bakugo nodded his head, he had grabbed it on the way out last night.

"it's in the bathroom, come on." he told you as he headed there and you followed behind.

he turned the light on, and the ointment was left nearby the sink.

"i didn't even see it yesterday, i was too caught up in wondering what you were cooking." you yawned as you stretched and bakugo chuckled.

"or maybe you just can't fucking see. it's right in front of your eyes."

"do you always wake up this snarky?"

"snarky? i'm not snarky-"

"you totally are-"

"good luck putting on the ointment-"

"wait, please help me." you begged as you looked into his eyes.

he felt his body tingle as you looked up at him with those eyes, he cleared his throat to prevent the way he was feeling.

"turn around." he told you and you complied.

as you turned around, bakugo couldn't help but to look all over your body.

you reached behind you as you gripped onto the oversized shirt, pulling it up until it hit the back of your neck.

your back was fully exposed to bakugo and all he could do was look at the bruising that covered majority of your back.

he felt sympathy, you shouldn't have gone through that. you were lucky to not have permanent scarring like he did.

"what should we do about this?" he asked as he took a hold of your bra strap and letting it go so it snapped against your skin.

this caused you to yelp and forcing your face to turn red, you whipped your head around as you still held onto your shirt.

"you fucking perv! just put the cream on!" you yelled at him allowing him to laugh at your reaction.

he opened the ointment before squeezing a good amount of it on his hand.

he hovered his hand over your back, he didn't want his callous hands to feel rough against your skin.

but he wanted to give you any relief he could, he placed his hand softly against the bruising which the ointment was cold causing you to jump.

"i'm sorry. it caught me off guard." you mumbled.

bakugo didn't reply, he rubbed his hand up and down along your back as he attempted to avoid your bra that was in the way.

he made sure not to apply too much pressure in the event he'd cause more pain upon the bruising.

your skin was everything he imagined it to be, just as the night you touched his scars, he was touching you vulnerably now.

it was soft, everything his skin wasn't.

the contrast made him want to explore more of your body, wondering where else could it be soft.

the ointment was spread evenly on your back; he removed his hand from your skin while he didn't want to.

he turned on the faucet to rinse his hand off as you lowered the shirt back onto your back which got stuck to it.

"i hope this shirt isn't important." you told him as you turned back around, he finished washing his hand which he dried off.

"you're dumb, you should've let it dry."

"so you can keep looking at me? you know, bakugo..." you started as you walked closer to him. he wasn't focused before but now he was as you got closer and closer to him causing his heart to elevate.

"it's rude to stare." you whispered to tease him after all the time he's teased you for staring at him.

"i can’t help myself." he teased back which caught you off guard.

you widened your eyes; you moved back from him as your cheeks became pink.

"don't start something you can't finish." he whispered in your ear as he bent down to your level, now your heart rate was elevated.

without another word, you exited the bathroom out of embarrassment causing bakugo to chuckle and follow after you.

"what's today?" you asked him as he was standing behind you in his room.

"friday."

"what? i have to go to work!" you yelled frantically, how could you forget about your job that you didn't call into?

it's not like you could when you didn't have a phone either.

"are you an idiot?" bakugo questioned as he watched you scurry around the room in pain.

"i didn't tell them! i'm going to get fired, dipshit." you yelled at him in a panic.

as you attempted to push past him to leave, he stopped you, "didn't i tell you mina handled it?"

"what- she went as far as doing that?" you asked and he nodded his head.

"oh. she's amazing, i really thought i was going to lose my job!" you said in a relief as you backed away from bakugo.

"are you hungry?" he asked, and now that you thought about it, you were.

you nodded your head and bakugo exited his room, he grabbed his car keys.

"let's go then."

-

bakugo had taken you to a local breakfast spot that wasn't too busy. assuming it was to keep you and him out of the possible media that is always lurking around.

the two of you were sat in a booth across from each other as you searched the menu on what to eat for breakfast. you weren't used to going out to eat this early, but you were looking forward to it.

giving occasionally glances at bakugo, both of you had left in the clothes you slept in last night since he gave no warning about going out to eat.

you had no change of clothes either, so bakugo didn't change either because he didn't want you to feel embarrassed wearing the same clothes.

the waitress came over to take your drink orders, only ordering waters.

"no coffee?" you asked as you still looked through the menu.

"not a fan." he replied back.

"surprising."

"what the fuck is that supposed to mean?"

"considering how much energy you always seem to have-"

"i don't-"

"really? then why are you arguing with-"

"because you're making me-"

"uh, are you guys ready?" the waitress awkwardly asked as you and bakugo argued over each other causing the two of you to shut up.

giving your orders to the waitress, they walked away in a hurry causing you to laugh.

"look at what you did! you scared them dipshit." you laughed and bakugo rolled his eyes.

"it was your fault. you had to argue with me."

"you don't have to continue-"

"you think i'm going to lose to you-"

"oh come on!" you wailed and bakugo stopped talking.

in silence you both just looked at each other.

"loser." you smirked to get the final word in causing bakugo to send you a glare.

amidst the silence, the door to the restaurant opened causing the bell to jingle. with no interest, neither of you looked at the customers who walked in.

which you probably should have.

"kacchan!" the green haired boy yelled as he spotted his friend.

bakugo tensed up as he slowly turned his body around towards the door since he was faced away from it.

he came eye to eye with midoriya and todoroki who were in casual clothing and making their way towards the table.

"you got to be fucking kidding me." he gritted through his teeth.

it's not that he wasn't pleased to see his friends.

but this was his time to only spend time with you, and in his head, this was his way of asking you out one on one.

but he realizes now that this isn't the proper way to ask you out, or to at least show his intention.

once the two men were standing to the side of your table, you looked up at them, and immediately recognized one of them.

"todoroki! so nice to see you again." you chirped and he gave you a soft smile.

bakugo could feel his eye twitch, when were you so familiar with todoroki?

"y/n, good to see you. i hope you're alright, i saw the news last night." he replied as you awkwardly laughed.

"oh, yeah! i'm doing okay, just in pain." you told him causing him to lose his smile.

"i'm sorry, i understand all too well. here, i have something for you actually." he replied as he took off the bag he was carrying with him.

now bakugo was really losing his mind even if he wasn't showing it.

he knew he had no reason to be jealous of todoroki, but seeing this unfold in front of him when he just wanted to spend time with you was bothering him.

todoroki pulled out a bag of noodles, to be exact, the same noodles that you had gave to him that day you met him.

you took them from his hands and giggled, "have you been carrying these all this time? how'd you know you would see me again?"

he closed his bag and placed it over his body again, he shrugged. "i didn't. but i wanted to repay you for the day you gave me the noodles. they're great."

"thank you, i'll have to repay you back again."

"then i'll do it again." he replied almost instantly causing you to giggle.

midoriya noticed it, the seething anger that was emitting from bakugo.

"i'm izuku midoriya! i never introduced myself that day, i didn't think i'd see you again!" the green haired boy yelled at you nervously as he extended his arm to shake your hand.

"oh, right! i remember you. i'm y/n." you beamed at him as you took his hand into yours.

while midoriya was attempting to lessen the anger of bakugo, this only caused bakugo to seethe more in silence as he saw pink on midoriya's cheeks.

"what are you idiots doing here?" bakugo grumbled and everyone turned their attention to him.

he was visibly annoyed which you couldn't understand why.

"what crawled up your ass and died?"

"shut the hell up-"

"no, what is the matter with you-"

"nothing-"

"are you hangry-"

"no asshole!"

midoriya and todoroki could only watch the two of you go back and forth, they stood there silently as they side eyed each other.

"they're kind of..."

"...perfect for each other." they both whispered to one another although the neither of you heard.

as stealthy as they could, they escaped the argument without acknowledging either of you.

they went to the other side of the restaurant to leave you alone.

as it happened before, the waitress dropped off your plates of food in the middle of your bickering.

this allowed both of you to shut up for the remainder of the time as you stuffed your mouth with the delicious food.

while the bickering was too much sometimes, it didn't bother you.

it seemed to come naturally so it was more or less bonding with him.

once both plates were clean, the waitress came over hesitantly to collect them and dropped off the check in a hurry.

you realized you didn't have your work bag nor a wallet.

watching as bakugo reached into his pant pocket to pull his wallet out where he placed cash in the check book.

"you don't have to pay-" you started yet he ignored you.

"let's leave." he grumbled as you both stood up from the booth.

while exiting, you spotted midoriya and todoroki dining together, you waved goodbye and bakugo only sent them a glare.

they both waved and stopped as soon as bakugo looked at them.

walking back to his car, you couldn't tell if bakugo was genuinely upset or he was being quieter than usual.

he opened the car door for you as you gave a smile to him, he only looked at you as he shut the door.

once he got in, you leaned close to his face and he looked directly in your eyes.

he wasn't upset with you, he wasn't even upset with todoroki or midoriya.

he was upset with himself for feeling this way, he wasn't sure if it was jealously, but he wanted you all to himself.

and if it was jealousy, it wasn’t because his friends were talking to you, that didn't matter.

he was upset because the time where he found peace with you was interrupted.

although you bickered, it wasn't enough to bother him.

he actually enjoyed it.

"what's your problem?" you questioned as making direct eye contact.

he didn't know what to say, he didn't want to flat out tell you how he was feeling.

it was too soon to express it to that extent, and he felt uncomfortable.

"nothing." he muttered which you didn't take that as an answer.

"you can tell me, you know." you quietly said but you didn't want to pressure him.

"uh," he started as he started to get anxious. his heart was racing again because he never thought he'd do this.

"what are you doing tonight?" he asked with a small amount of hesitation in his voice.

you leaned back in your seat, now your heart was racing. you didn't expect bakugo to ask you that, but thinking back on it, you knew how you felt towards him, and you wondered if he picked up on it.

"well if you are done holding me hostage, i wanted to go home. but other than that, nothing since i'm injured and can't go to work." you told him, you glanced at him from your peripheral vision. "why, what's up?"

you felt a smirk on your face, you could assume why he was asking you.

"what the hell! i'm not holding you hostage, you could've told me you just wanted to go home dumbass." he replied out of embarrassment.

"you aren't answering me, why do you ask?"

he cleared his throat; it was now or never.

he wanted time with you one on one, somewhere he can take you and you'll be all to himself.

"would you like to go out tonight?" he managed to get out nervously.

this never happened to him; he always had confidence especially when it came to speaking his mind.

but it was as if he lost all of that when it came to you. it wasn’t like his usual self, but he wasn't hating it.

it was new to him, and he never experienced this before.

yet he found himself pleased the more he was trying with you.

you fiddled with your fingers as you looked at him, his face was slightly pink and so was yours.

"yeah, bakugo. i'd love to."
