Notes:

Well, this turned out to be more fluffy than smutty than I originally planned. I don't now, they are just cute and in love and I love them. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: English is not my first language, and I was my own beta reader. So for any grammar mistakes, I'm sorry!

Work Text:

Gi-hun is a good detective. Hell, he is not just good, he is great. Some might even say he is the best in Seoul.

He knows it. His coworkers know it. Now he is all over the news because of a successful drug bust, bringing down a somewhat big cartel, finding their secret drug stash in a hidden garage, deep in the city.

It was months of work. Sleepless nights, stress 24/7, his mind racing even when he was supposed to relax. He neglected his friends, his life, focusing only on this case, determined in bringing the cartel down.

And he did. His work paid off, bad guys were arrested, Seoul is now, even if a little, but a safer place to live in.

When he returned to the precinct applause broke out, everyone clapping and congratulating him. Jun-ho and Sang-woo behind him, patting his back. They helped him in the case and accompanied him today for the arrests. He couldn’t have done it without them. Whenever he felt close to giving up, these two would be there to pull him out of his misery and remind him that he is a great detective, and should believe in himself.

Still, it felt good that everyone was cheering for him.

Except one person.

Captain Hwang In-ho.

He wasn’t even in the room, hiding in his dark office. He never, never showed Gi-hun that he is appreciating his work, or him as a detective. He acknowledges the fact that Gi-hun is his best detective, but that is not enough for Gi-hun. Is it really that hard to show some recognition? A captain should be the one who holds the whole precinct together, and without his reassuring words, it all could fall apart. Why would a detective work for him if they don’t get anything back for their hard work?

He brushed those people who circled around him with a smile, nodding to everything they said, thanking them for everything. Jung-bae shouted in the back that everyone should go to the pub near them to properly celebrate, and Gi-hun shouted back “Only if you pay”.

But instead of drinking his problems away, he should face it.

So he walks to the Captain’s office, knocking before entering. At least he respected the Captain that much.

“Come in.” In-ho said, not shouting, but loud enough for the person to hear him from the other end.

Gi-hun pushes the door open, case file in his hand, already filled out on the way back so he can leave as soon as possible to finally let off some steam. And, well, maybe he wanted to show how a hard-working detective he is, already done with most of the paperwork.

“Captain.” Gi-hun bowed a little before entering. In-ho only looked up from the paper in front of him for just enough time to acknowledge the fact that Gi-hun is really in the room. He hums, looks back, pretending that Gi-hun is a ghost.

It angers Gi-hun more.

“The paperwork for the drug bust.” Gi-hun spits, coldly, trying to get on In-ho’s nerves. Hoping that he pulls some emotions from him. Something. Anything.

But In-ho just nods. He doesn’t even look up when the document hits the table, only brushes it away, like it was nothing.

“Thank you. Dismissed.”

It was the last pull. Not only his paperwork is something that looks like it would “bore” the Captain, he doesn’t even look into his eyes. Just sitting silently at his table like some robot built for only spitting orders.

““Dismissed?” That’s all I get? Gi-hun whisper-shouts even if the door is closed, not believing his ears. “I work my ass off for months, for a job you assigned me to. And that’s it, I get thrown out like a used whore?”

His voice started to rise at the end of his sentence.

Gi-hun just doesn’t get it. When he first arrived here, he looked up at In-ho so much. He was almost a legend, the best detective Seoul has ever had, putting high level gang leaders behind bars. He was fearless, not turning away from danger, but calculated. He could read between the lines like no other detective could, solving a case even from seeing how a pencil was left on the table.

When Gi-hun left the academy and was positioned here, In-ho was already a captain. He climbed the rank ladder as fast as he could, hoping that In-ho could be his mentor. But when he was promoted to a detective, In-ho only said “welcome abroad” and ignored him ever since.

Not even a friendly chat by the coffee machine, or a nice hangout at the bar, just them as co-workers. Nothing. He didn’t even look at Gi-hun’s direction. In-ho acted like Gi-hun didn’t exist.

So Gi-hun came to the decision to prove himself. That he is a detective worthy of the Captain's attention.

He often worked into late hours, picked up more shifts, so he can improve his skills, his knowledge. And he did. Everyone noticed.

Soon he was called the “best detective” by his colleagues, many of them asking him to help them in a case they are stuck in.

But In-ho never said anything. The only thing he noticed is that In-ho assigned him cases that are not easy to solve. Which meant that In-ho recognized Gi-hun’s hard work, he is just simply an asshole. God forbid some encouragement for his team.

“Detective Seong, please-” In-ho sighed, finally putting down the pen, and closed his eyes, pinching his nose in frustration like he was talking to a child.

“No, don’t “detective” me! What more do you want from me? I have the most case solving success rate in the precinct, and not ever in these past years have I heard any encouraging words from you! Why?”

Gi-hun is now really shouting. He tried to keep it lowkey, but years of frustration, words that went unsaid had piled up in him, and now, it just flows uncontrollably.

“Enough, detective. Leave my office, that’s an order.” In-ho said back calmly, making every syllable count. Like his looking down at a person who has real emotions.

Gi-hun is fighting back tears now, both from anger and sadness. “I just wanted to be appreciated by the person I looked up to.” He whispers, voice breaking at the end. He pulls himself together, bows, then turns to leave the room.

As he steps out the precinct is now not as loud as when he first arrived. No question that everyone has been listening to the conversation he and In-ho had.

But Gi-hun is paying them no mind. He storms out of the precinct, heading to the elevator, but someone grabs his arm.

“Gi-hun-” Jun-ho starts, probably trying to explain his brother’s actions.

“Don’t, Jun-ho. I don’t care.” Gi-hun simply states, avoiding looking at Jun-ho. He keeps on walking, deciding that it is best to use the stairs, so he can avoid waiting awkwardly for the elevator.

He doesn’t see that Sang-woo is trying to go after him, he only faintly hears Jung-bae stopping him.

Only when is finally outside he lets his tears to break through, drowning his face in wetness. He stands before the entrance, searching his pockets for his pack of cigarettes. He pulls out one, grabbing his lighter, and lifts it in front of his face. He tries to light it three times and gives up on the fourth. Predictable.

Frustrated, he puts the cigarette and his lighter away. Tears still flow down from his eyes, but it takes him a minute to realize that it’s not only his tears.

It started raining.

Gi-hun lets out a dry chuckle, laughing at how dramatic the scene can look. A detective, not appreciated by his boss, can’t even light his cigarette, and now the rain will soak him, because he forgot his umbrella at home. Again.

And he didn’t drive to work today, expecting to go out with his fellow detectives for a few drinks after the drug bust. But now, the only thing he wants to do is to go home and sorrow alone with an instant noodle as his companion.

He could call an Uber, it being smarter than walking home in a pouring rain, but he decides it’s more fitting in his current emotional state. The only missing thing is some Lana del Ray or Olivia Rodrigo blasting in his ears.

So he turns and starts walking to his apartment, which is approximately an hour walk from the precinct. But it’s fine. Maybe the rain will wash his problems away.

He just simply doesn’t get it. Did he do something wrong during these few years that made the Captain hate him this much? As far as Gi-hun knows, he has only been doing some remarkable detective work, not dropping a case until it’s solved, always doing paperwork on time, even if it meant doing overtime.

Was it…was it because Gi-hun is gay? The Captain must’ve overheard his conversation with Jung-bae and Sang-woo when he was stationed here, when he told them about some guy he picked up from a bar.

Could that be In-ho’s biggest problem? Was he homophobic?

The only thing Gi-hun can’t wrap his head around, if he was so much trouble for In-ho, being a bad person or just the fact that Gi-hun is gay bugs him, why didn’t he send him away? Stationed him to another precinct, as far away as possible. But no, he kept him there, gave him cases that were always harder than the last.

Maybe he was punishing him. Torturing Gi-hun, and he enjoyed watching it. Which still could be fine, but goddamit, be a fucking adult and say if something wrong! Say that “Gi-hun, I hate you, I will give you the most complicated cases we get.” Would that be really hard? At least Gi-hun wouldn’t be in the darkness anymore.

All he gets is radio silence from In-ho and that’s what frustrates him the most.

He had already been walking for about ten minutes when he felt his phone buzzing in his jean’s pockets. He mostly expected Jun-ho to be the one who wrote to him, trying to explain his brother’s behavior, or outright calling In-ho an idiot. Maybe Sang-woo or Jung-bae trying to lighten his mood, inviting him for a drink.

What he didn’t expect was In-ho writing to him.

Captain Hwang 18:57

Hey. Can we talk?

Gi-hun’s first reaction is a little thud in his chest. His heartbeat speeding up, warmness going through his body. Almost feeling relieved.

His second is his anger coming back.

Oh so now he wants to talk? Too late for that, asshole. You had plenty of time to explain yourself, of course you try to crawl back when the whole precinct realized that you disrespect all your detectives from your team, even the best ones.

Gi-hun doesn’t reply to the message, only puts away his phone, puffing in the air. The nerve of this guy.

He just keeps walking, going by bars, and nightclubs. Seoul’s night life is starting to wake up. He is so locked into his mind that he doesn’t even register that a car pulls up next to him. He ignores it, keeps on walking, believing the car is not meant for him.

He is wrong.

The windows roll down, and Gi-hun spots In-ho looking back at him.

“Gi-hun. Get in the car, you will catch a cold.” In-ho simply orders, voice stern.

“I’m not on the clock. Already finished with the paperwork. Leave me alone.” Gi-hun scuffs, turning his back at In-ho once again.

“Please, let me explain. Get in the car.” In-ho pleads, and when he turns back he finds In-ho looking at him with the most adorable puppy eyes he has seen on men. How can he say no to that?

So he rolls his eyes, gets around the car and hops in. The seat is comfortable leather, the interior smells like In-ho.

“I will soak your seat.” Gi-hun mumbles, shifting in his place. The tension is filling the car.

“I don’t care.” In-ho simply says, presses on the gas and drives away. If Gi-hun didn’t know any better this would feel like a well planned kidnapping by a handsome man.

Stop it brain.

The car was filled with silence again. In-ho adjusts the air conditioner so warm air flows in the car, then focused on the road again. Meanwhile Gi-hun stared out of the window, trying to make sense of all this. What does In-ho want? He follows Gi-hun, orders to get into his car, then doesn’t elaborate what he is going to do next? How did he find Gi-hun in the first place?

Right. Stupid question.

Just as Gi-hun started to build up the courage to speak first, In-ho pulled the car to a little cafe’s drive through. No one was really here, it’s that time of the day when those who finished work wouldn’t drink coffee, and those who have night shifts somewhere are just getting ready.

But In-ho feels like he needs the caffeine if he wants this conversation to happen. Without asking what Gi-hun wants, he rolled his window down and ordered.

“I would like a hot americano, and an iced chocolate for my partner here.”

Gi-hun’s brain stopped working after this short sentence. How does he know what I like to drink? And why did the word “partner” send butterflies in my stomach?

He sat there, frozen in place, staring at In-ho like he just grew another head. In-ho looked back at him, confused and shrugged.

Neither of them spoke as they waited for their order. In-ho even checked his phone and texted someone a short message.

They rolled forward, In-ho took the iced chocolate and handed it to Gi-hun, and placed his own order to the cup holder as he paid. He rolled the window up, adjusted the air conditioner so the warmth was heading to the still soaked Gi-hun.

In-ho didn’t drive the car far, just pulled it to the cafe’s parking lot, but still kept the engine going so Gi-hun could dry in the warmth.

When Gi-hun finally believed that In-ho was going to open his mouth, his captain just reached for his coffee and started sipping it silently. Gi-hun just sat there, stunned, not even comprehending how can someone so smart be such an unbearable bastard.

After taking two sips of his drink, In-ho finally spoke.

“So. How was your day?” In-ho turns his head and looks at Gi-hun, acting like it’s the most common thing to do after a fight between boss and employee.

“Are you serious?” Gi-hun asks, but In-ho just looks at him confused. “You know what happened to me today.”

“I’m…just curious how you…feel?” In-ho tried again. He could facepalm himself the moment Gi-hun makes a face.

How can he be so bad at this? He literally went through trainings on how to talk to people. Now he makes a fool of himself in front of his best detective.

“In-ho.” Gi-hun called his name, without using any formalities, so he can get the attention of the other man. “What is going on? You texted me that you wanted to talk and instead you brought me here to this little cafe, bought me my favorite drink and ask how my day was. What do you want from me?” Gi-hun asks, his voice buckles at the end. In-ho finally looks at him, really looks at him, worry written all over his face. “I can’t live in the darkness anymore.” Gi-hun shakes his head, fingers holding his drink stronger.

“Answer me this once and for all: Do you hate me?” He finally bursts out the question that has been hanging inside his mind for years. But he doesn’t stop there. “Are you disgusted of me? Is that your problem? That I’m gay? Answer me! I had enough of your silence!”

Gi-hun mouth quivers at the end. He feels like all his energy left him. When In-ho still just keeps looking at him, he decides to give up and starts sipping his drink, hoping at least that will calm him down.

“It’s the opposite, Gi-hun.” In-ho finally speaks. Gi-hun’s head snaps back at the other man and looks at him confused. In-ho closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, like he is building up the courage to speak further.

“You make me feel so much. You fill my mind at every hour of the day, since the moment you arrived at the precinct you had my attention. You stood out from the others with the way you approach a case and treat it like you are a family member of the victims. I haven't seen anyone so devoted to his job since I became captain. You made my heart waver, and it scared me.” In-ho confesses, fingers tapping his coffee cup in nervousness.

“I didn’t know what to do with this. I know that since I’m your boss, I can’t afford these feelings. I kept telling myself that you are straight, you would never share these feelings, and even though it made me sad, it kept me going through the day. But when I overheard the story that you told to Jung-bae and Sang-woo, I realized that I need to be as far from you as humanly possible, even if we share a precinct, and I’m your boss. I needed to put this distance between us, so I can keep you safe, and give you a chance to build a carrier. Every moment that I couldn’t yell out to the whole world that I am proud of you was a knife in the heart, that will bleed forever. After today, seeing you suffer that you didn’t even get an approving nod, I know I needed to confess, because it was ripping me apart.”

Gi-hun just sits there, eyes heavy with tears that are threatening to spill. He doesn’t know what to say. He idolized In-ho so much at the beginning, just to be disappointed when his boss didn’t even look at his way. And all this time, In-ho was just trying to protect him?

“That was unfair, In-ho. I’m an adult, it is not for you to decide what to do with my life.”

In-ho sighed, like Gi-hun didn’t understand the risk of it all. “You don’t know how dangerous this is.”

“Maybe I want the danger.” Gi-hun whispered, eyes traveling to In-ho’s lips. He set his iced chocolate aside, and without breaking eye contact, he reached for In-ho’s drink to put that away too.

He leaned forward, slowly, letting time for In-ho to change his mind. But In-ho kept still, too afraid to move, fearing that if he does, some spell will break and all of it will turn out to be a dream.

When their lips touched it was like testing the waters, filled with unspoken words. It was quick, just Gi-hun showing how far he really would go for In-ho.

Gi-hun pulled back just enough so he could look at In-ho’s face. His eyes searched for any emotion, would it be disgust or something else, just anything so he can know. In-ho was fighting with himself on the inside, but eventually he let out a breath.

“Fuck it.” He murmured, put his hand behind Gi-hun’s head and pulled him forward for another kiss. It was a much more heated kiss, lust washing over both of them. In-ho licked Gi-hun’s bottom lip which made Gi-hun’s body shake with excitement.

As they deepened the kiss, Gi-hun felt In-ho pulling him closer and closer, and just as Gi-hun was about to move to In-ho’s lap he realized they are in his car. And are in public. Anyone could see what they are doing if they looked through the windows.

So even if it hurt, Gi-hun broke the kiss and pulled back, In-ho chasing his mouth. He looked at the detective, asking silently What’s wrong? but Gi-hun just smiled.

“Do you want to come to my place?” Gi-hun asks shyly, blush spreading all over his face. In-ho looked stunned and a little out of breath, but nodded.

“Yeah.”

Gi-hun’s smile widened, then he leaned back in the seat and let In-ho start the engine. He drove away from the parking lot, not even asking Gi-hun for the address. Since he was the Captain, he knows where everyone lives from his squad.

Now, the car is filled with a different kind of tension. Excitement is buzzing in both of them. Gi-hun is sipping his drink again, ice already melted in it, but still delicious. He didn’t let his mind wander, he enjoyed the moment. Him sitting in In-ho’s car, doing normal things like sharing a drink and not constantly worrying about what the other thinks. Rain tapping on the car, a soothing sound both of them need.

From the corner of his eye he sees In-ho fidgeting nervously, tapping on the wheel with his fingers. Gi-hun puts a reassuring hand on In-ho’s thigh and squeezes, pulling him back to the present. In-ho turns his head and finds Gi-hun's understanding smile, and mirrors it. He takes a deep breath and lets it out, shoulders not feeling heavy anymore.

Soon enough they arrive at an apartment complex where Gi-hun has a small, but comfortable little place. In-ho stops the engine and goes silent again. Gi-hun puts his finished drink back to the cup holder and turns his body enough so he can face In-ho.

“It’s okay, I don’t want to force you to do anything.” Gi-hun says slowly, making every word count. In-ho shakes his head.

“I’m fine.” In-ho murmurs, but it feels like he said it more to himself than to Gi-hun.

Either way, it’s good if In-ho comes up, if only just to talk. Yes, In-ho said everything that has been a burden for him for years, but there are still many things that need to be said.

So Gi-hun nods, opens the door and gets out of the car. In-ho stays behind for a second, gulps his coffee down, hoping it will give him the courage he needs to finally face his feelings.

He locks the car and follows Gi-hun, too afraid to say anything, thinking if he says something he will mess it up. They get into the lift, and when the doors close, he feels a hand caressing his arms. He avoids eyecontact, afraid that if he looks into Gi-hun’s eyes he will fall to his knees and worship him right here in this lift.

When the doors finally open they start heading towards Gi-hun’s apartment. He searches his pockets for the keys, and calmly opens the door, like he doesn’t understand what is lying on the other side if they do this.

In-ho steps in and takes off his shoes while Gi-hun locks the door. He turns his head and finds Gi-hun already looking at him. Gi-hun leans forward and presses a kiss to In-ho’s lips. The captain doesn’t know how to react or what to do with his hands so he just stands there, frozen.

Gi-hun pulls back and a little chuckle leaves his mouth. In-ho looks at him, nervous already that he did something wrong.

“It’s funny how the stern and serious Captain, who I was afraid every time I landed him a closed case, is nervous when a boy he likes has mutual feelings for him.”

In-ho lets out a nervous huff. “I just-”

“In-ho. I don’t want to do anything you are not ready for. If you only want to talk, it’s fine with me. We are in a much need of that anyway.” Gi-hun interrupts and winks at him.

But In-ho wants Gi-hun, oh how he wants him. He wanted him for years, suffering in silence since he knew that he would never have a chance. Now as it turns out that he does, he is just afraid.

Gi-hun motioned him to sit down on the couch, and In-ho takes his lead.

“I’m just nervous that somehow I say or do something and I will fuck it up. I’m not the best with feelings.” In-ho lowers his head in shame, waiting to be laughed at. He puts his face into his hand, as if it would help him disappear from the world.

He feels the couch dip beside him, then a soft and warm hand caresses his hair. In-ho sighs at the feeling, it has been so long since someone touched him and it feels so right that it’s Gi-hun who is doing it. He can’t help but chase the hand as it pulls away.

“In-ho it’s okay, I will not run away. But you need to tell me how you feel, just like I said, you can’t keep me in the darkness. Let me in.”

In-ho looks up from his hand and is met with Gi-hun’s smile that brightens the whole room.

“I like you. But you are a highly respected detective, and I’m your captain. We don’t live in a country where we could be open and show the world that we are proud. At the same time, I don’t want to hide you, but if because of me you are forced to come out, maybe the reputation you have been building for all these years might crumble beneath your feet.” In-ho confesses. Gi-hun takes a moment to really acknowledge the weight of these words.

“I know that it’s risky. But I already came out to those who really count, and I don’t want to hide myself. If the world will throw me away only because I showed who I am, then I will fight for it. I like you too.” Gi-hun answers with a shy smile. “Let’s take things slow, okay? You don’t need to come out right away, baby steps first.”

In-ho nods, happy that he didn’t meet with rejection. “I’m still trying to figure things out. You are the first man I find attractive, so everything is new to me.” In-ho says, looking away as blush creeps into his face.

“We will move at your speed.” Gi-hun kisses In-ho’s cheek to reassure him. In-ho looks at him, eyes filled with love. He really is lucky, isn’t he? But he is still a little nervous to make a move, even after everything they had just said.

He needs to show how much he wants him, needs him. Gi-hun sits patiently, not knowing what he can do at the moment, he just waits for In-ho’s cue.

“Can-Can I kiss you?” In-ho eventually blurts out and is immediately embarrassed. Just as he was about to turn his head and hide in shame Gi-hun grabs his chin and turns it back so they are face to face, but he keeps still.

In-ho leans forward and closes the gap between them. When he feels Gi-hun’s lips against his he lets out a sigh, finally getting what he craved for years.

Impatience builds up in him and he deepens the kiss, putting Gi-hun’s bottom lip between his teeth and sucks on it. Gi-hun moans and In-ho takes the chance to explore Gi-hun’s mouth with his tongue.

Trying to take control of the kiss, Gi-hun pulls on In-ho’s hair to guide him, which makes In-ho let out a small whine. The sound travels all the way down to Gi-hun’s cock.

Embarrassed again, In-ho breaks the kiss, already trying to apologize.

“I’m sorry-”

“Fuck that was hot.” Gi-hun interrupts him and attacks In-ho’s mouth instantly. He moves forward, pushes In-ho back against the couch and climbs into his lap. In-ho, not knowing what to do, just takes it and puts his hands on Gi-hun’s hips for leverage.

“Is this okay?” Gi-hun comes to his senses and asks him. He doesn’t want to scare In-ho, but arousal took over his mind because of the sound In-ho made.

He needs to hear it again.

“More than okay.” In-ho answers, voice a little horse. He looks up to Gi-hun, pupils wide. “Please.”

That was the only cue Gi-hun needed. He smashes their lips together again, their tongues dancing together. The kiss isn’t not about control anymore, it’s about trusting, opening up. In-ho hums, puts his palm against Gi-hun’s cheek, just to hold him. He never felt so safe with anyone before, he would already rip his heart out for this man.

Gi-hun breaks the kiss, but his lips don't leave In-ho for long. He plants small kisses on his jaw before traveling down suck on In-ho’s neck.

“Shit.” In-ho curses, trusting upward unintentionally, pushing his neck more into Gi-hun’s mouth. He lets out a shaky breath when he feels Gi-hun licking over his bruise.

He grabs Gi-hun’s head and guides him to his mouth once again. While kissing, In-ho’s hand travels down to Gi-hun’s ass and pulls him closer, making their hard cocks brush against each other.

Both of them moan at the feeling, but Gi-hun leans back to search In-ho’s eyes for any regret. What he finds is In-ho looking at him with pleading eyes.

To test it, he moves in In-ho’s lap, grinding their cocks together again. In-ho while maintaining eye contact lets out a whimper, shaking at the pleasure that is buzzing through his body.

“You sound so good.” Gi-hun breathes out, planting his hands on In-ho’s shoulder. He moves confidently now and even through clothes, the feeling of In-ho’s hardness against his own is delicious.

In-ho buries his head in Gi-hun’s neck, trying to muffle the sounds that keeps breaking through his mouth.

“Don’t hide from me baby.” Gi-hun says, playing with the edge of In-ho’s hair. In-ho moans at the pet name and decides to obey, so he leans back against the couch and enjoys the scene in front of him.

Both of them are still in their work clothes, still wearing their ties and shirt, humping each other on the couch like they are teenagers again.

Gi-hun picks up the pace and In-ho lifts his hips, trying to match it. Gi-hun throws his head back, mouth open as moans and groans spill out of it. In-ho’s hand travels under Gi-hun’s shirt, feeling his warm skin against his palm. He just soothes his hand over the detectives stomach, leaving goose bumps behind. Then he moves his hand upwards, fingers brushing against Gi-hun’s hardened nipples, which makes the man shake in pleasure.

“I can’t wait to tear your pants off and ride you.” He says, out of breath. “You would just sit there and take it like a good boy, wouldn’t you?” Gi-hun chuckles as In-ho can do nothing but nod his head while whining each time their cocks brush against each other.

“I know you would. I would ride you so good, you couldn’t think about anything else but pumping me full with your come.” In-ho’s eyes widen and grips Gi-hun’s hips harder, his fingerprints will probably be visible tomorrow.

“Everytime I would lean down for something you would stare at my ass, wishing you could slam your cock in me even if we are in public space.” Gi-hun leans down and nibbles on In-ho’s ears, planting his teeth into it. “You would love to fuck me at work, huh?” Gi-hun lets out a low chuckle directed to In-ho’s ear.

In-ho can’t take it anymore, and flips their positions easily. Now Gi-hun is lying on his back, In-ho on top of him. He starts fully rutting against Gi-hun with a hard and fast pace, whimpers flowing from his mouth. Gi-hun wraps his legs around In-ho’s waist, pulling him as close as humanly possible. In-ho leans down, letting his moans travel into Gi-hun’s ears.

It has been so long since he was properly with someone, In-ho already feels himself getting too close to the edge. And as much as he wants this moment to stretch on, he simply can’t hold it any longer.

“Gi-hun I’m close-” He warns, moving his hips even faster. Gi-hun lets him take what he wants, moaning loudly to spur In-ho on.

“Come for me.” He whispers into In-ho’s ears.

In-ho lets out a stretched whine and comes into his pants. He keeps rutting against Gi-hun to ride out the feeling. Watching and hearing In-ho fall apart pushes Gi-hun over the edge too, screaming In-ho’s name while he makes a mess inside his pants.

In-ho falls on top of Gi-hun, still panting from the amazing orgasm he had just had. Gi-hun caresses his back and plants small kisses on every skin he can reach on In-ho.

“It has been years since I came this hard.” In-ho admits shyly, head still buried in Gi-hun’s neck. Gi-hun just chuckles and In-ho can feel it vibrating against his chest.

“Was it too much?” Gi-hun's voice shakes a little as he asks, nervousness creeps up to him again. In-ho just lifts his head, and plants a kiss on Gi-hun’s lips.

“You were perfect. You are perfect.” In-ho whispers, kissing Gi-hun again. “I hope it was good for you too. Sorry I finished so soon.” In-ho blushes and smiles sheepishly.

“I can’t remember the last time I came in my pants.” Gi-hun reassures, kissing In-ho’s nose. “Speaking of which, let's take a shower.”

In-ho nods and untangles himself from Gi-hun. He sits up with a groan and takes his tie off, throwing it on the couch. Gi-hun gets up and disappears into his bedroom where he chooses some clothes In-ho can put on. When he goes back to the living room he sees In-ho resting on the couch with his eyes closed. Gi-hun smiles at the picture in front of him and could easily get used to it. Spending lazy nights together with In-ho, watching something on the tv, or just enjoying each other’s company.

“You can take a shower first. I brought some clothes you can put on after you finish.” Gi-hun points to the bathroom. “You will find towels there, choose whichever you like.”

In-ho nods, and can’t hide the smirk that creeps into his face. Gi-hun raises an eyebrow.

“What?”

“Nothing, I just like how we silently agreed that I can stay here for the night.”

Gi-hun blushes again like he was caught red handed.
“Oh sorry- Does it bother you?” He asks just to be sure, not wanting to cross a line In-ho isn’t ready for.

“Not at all.” In-ho answers simply, taking the clothes from Gi-hun and heads to the bathroom.

After both of them finished showering they move to the bedroom where they fell into the bed, tired after the long day. Without speaking Gi-hun lays his head on In-ho’s chest, and In-ho moves his arm over Gi-hun's shoulder, drawing small circles on his warm skin with his fingers.

Gi-hun was the one who broke the silence.

“So tomorrow…” He starts but doesn’t know how to finish the sentence.

“I need to be at the station earlier than you anyway, so you can get enough sleep. You deserve it after what you just pulled off today. Captain’s order.”

Gi-hun chuckles and kisses In-ho’s cheek. This way they won’t have to worry about making people gossip on why they would come to work together, at the same time, right after they had a big fight. They don’t have to know how good things worked out between them.

Gi-hun arrives at the precinct lastly from the squad, since In-ho ordered him not to arrive too early. He has done his usual morning routine, but somehow, knowing that In-ho had spent the night there it felt different.

He can never look at his couch the same way as before.

He walks into the building, coffee in hand and nods to his coworkers. He thanks again to everyone who congratulates him on his big case, some even reassure him that he should just ignore the Captain because he is an asshole for not acknowledging Gi-hun’s hard work. He needs to hide his smile.

People are clueless, and it’s fun to watch.

Even Jun-ho rushes up to him, saying sorry on behalf of his stupid older brother, but Gi-hun shooed him away, saying that everything is alright.

He sits down in front of his desk seeing that he didn’t get any new case which he was happy about. He needed some break after this big drug bust. So he just dugs himself into some paperwork that still needs to be done.

The Captain’s office door opened and everyone looked up, breaking the small chatter that filled the precinct. Everyone fell into an uneasy silence.

But In-ho just looked at Gi-hun while holding his case file.

“I’ve read your report, Seong. Nice work.” In-ho says, voice stern and cold, not giving away his true feelings. Gi-hun nods, trying to fight against the smile that threatens to creep into his face.

Baby steps.
