Chapter Text
1. Beginning of the end
Tak tak tak
A heels sound echoed, a black-eyed brown-haired woman walked through the room full of bookshelves, her hands touching the books that lined the shelves gently. The afternoon light illuminates ther library with a soft Light.
The woman was named Reina, an ordinary worker who had just come home from work, and was looking for a book to read, she had a habit of reading before going to bed, whether it was a novel or a history book. Like at the time she is looking for a different book. Her black eyes scanned each title.
Almost 80% of the books in the library have been read. Naturally, because the library belongs to Reina's family. Namely Moren. The Moren family is a family full of writing talents, whether it's an article or a novel. Their original works will always be stored in the library. And Reina has read almost all of her predecessor's works.
"Ther really isn't anything interesting anymore?" Reina frowned, she ran out of stories.
Her eyes looked around the room, then fell on a place she had never touched.
The shelves are quite special, the wood is carved in elegant carvings, and covered with gold strokes. Each book is a history book that was discovered by the predecessors when they explored the Ocean.
Reina blinked, looked around the room and finally gave up holding back her curiosity. It stepped calmly towards the shelf. Her hand grabbed a book that had attracted her curiosity ever since.
The book is layered with a black leather finish with a gold color stripe. With a golden title—
"the legend of the Fool"
“… The fool? a novel? How is it possible that the novel is here? Or don't the cleaners forget to put it on another shelf? Ah yes, since the book is an ordinary novel, I should take it and put it on the shelf of another novel later." With a small breath, Reina picked up the book and left the library. Unaware of a thin mist that entered her own body before disappearing.
---
Reina opened her room, a simple room with one desk, one bookcase, one closet and a bathroom. she sat herself on the mattress and rubbed the book cover in her hand. Without waiting long she opened it and read the contents of the book in her hand.
.
"So this is an ordinary transmigration book?"
.
"This... isn't this a little bit... cruel?"
.
"old Neil... may you rest in piece"
.
“… Captain...."
she don't know how many days she had read the book, but Reina couldn't help but read it again and again, until the end of the chapter, Reina stared at the chapter with empty eyes. Didn't expect the ending to be like that.
"On the other hand... Zhou couldn't find a way home, and he couldn't go back to Moretti's residence... Zhou lost his home in two lives... He can only rely on the Tarot Club for his humanity. How could he fight celestial worthy? Uhh... Zhou mingrui, really the best character I've ever read." Reina sighed, her hand grabbing a sheet of tissue and wiping away the tears that had fallen out of nowhere.
such a tragedy... he is just want to go home.. Reina flipped through the sheet and was surprised to find one quote with elegant strokes.
"May the reader give us one more chance to survive." The strokes are so elegant as if they were written carefully, in the sentence, Reina can feel a sense of despair, sadness, and tiredness. Her black eyes dimmed.
she was silent in the same position, beginning to realize something that she had neglected from the beginning of reading the book.
"Author! I forgot... It's weird, it's not unusual for me to forget that." With anticipation, Reina flipped through her book and was surprised, she was 1000% sure that before there was no such stroke on the cover of the book, but now there was another stroke under the title, that was the author's name.
"The Error"
she don't know how long she had been staring at the name of the author of the book, her eyes became blank, she stood up and ignored the book that fell to the floor of the room. Like a puppet that lost her mind, Reina picked up a book and put it on the table with a blank stare, the black eyes that were supposed to display the Light were now dim,
Reina didn't realize what was happening to her body, she blinked and only then did she remember to buy groceries, she walked out of the room, completely ignoring her mobile phone and jacket. It's really not like her—
Outside she with a blank gaze walked all the way, Reina stopped, blinking she nodded only to be startled by a meteor that was coming from nowhere heading towards her. Only then did the empty eyes seem to find their light again.
Too bad, she didn't have time to escape—
CRACKK
"HAH! Ha... Ha... What the fuvk is happening? Dream?"
Her vision was blurry, Reina remembered after checking the author's name she leaned on the mattress and closed her eyes, When she opened it, she was already outside and the meteor was heading towards her, even the screams of the people around her were not heard, she only heard a sound and then a broken glass. And she woke up here.
Reina stared at her trembling hands, she glanced at the mirror. Short black hair, brown eyes, an ordinary face, that's when Reina held her head, memories came in one by one, leaving Reina who was now managing her breathing.
Keina Moretti, Klein's twin sister, the only one who have low health. She is the student in the same course like her twin brother. But her condition is not good, she always mutter some unknown sentence and at the same time clutching her head. It's make her sibling worried, but in the end she always tried her best to go stay away from her sibling when her condition worsened. She loves her family so much that she always maintance her smile, and tell her sibling that her condition is alright.
Reina blinked, finally lowering her hand from gripping her black hair.
Tears flowed from her eyes and fell on the blanket at her feet, she adjusted her breathing and limp got off the mattress and walked to the mirror.
From the memories that Reina got, today was the day when Keina's condition worsened, she gave simple reasons such as drowsiness and she endured her own pain and hallucinations. But unfortunately this is also the day where Keina gives up to fight, and she dies.
From Reina's understanding, Keina is someone who has a high spirituality, making her hear something she shouldn't hear, and see something she shouldn't see. Reina took a deep breath, staring at the mirror of the girl in front of her. Brown eyes that lost their light, short black hair touched her shoulders. Cold sweat that was still visible, pale lips and skin that lost the freshness that an ordinary girl should have.
Reina stared at the mirrored shadow with sympathy. "Keina…, Rest in peace, I promise I will protect your family and make them happy... You can calm down and leave it to me. I promise."
At that moment, the night didn't feel too cold, and when Reina closed her eyes, a soft whisper swept through her ears. "Thank you..."
Reina smiled softly, and nodded.
When she opened her eyes again, Reina had only faith in it.
Reina or now Keina, sat on the chair and pinched her chin, her eyes staring at the red moon.
"June 25, 1349.. 3 days before Zhou's arrival" she began to ponder, she must become an Beyonder to live and protect her family here. But she was also confused about what path she should take.
“… I don't like playing in front, and prefer to play behind the scenes, uh spectator? fuvk no way i playing with that priest... then what...?"
