Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Schemes

Chapter Text

Gosunkugi was never really noticed anywhere, and that meant he totally had a perfect excuse to frequent the local Gay Bar (primarily hosting bisexuals, but semantics), where he could just watch drag shows ad infinitum. That all would be perfect, except for the British girl who still noticed the wretch.

Amber, as a part of the bar’s staff, couldn’t help but notice the lurking 18 year old, and frankly find him to be a little offputting, but friendly as time went on. But the bar was in dire financial straits this Halloween season, and the staff didn’t know who to turn to besides the creepy kid who hung around sometimes to come up with something to save the place.

Gosunkugi concocted a brilliant scheme: A collaborative dance with Furinkan highschool, in which all attendees would have to swap outfits with their dates (for drag representation of course), and have all the outfits be Halloween themed, and to decorate with the help of someone with knowledge of all the spooky artifacts, the Nekohanten’s Proprietress.

Shortly after blackmailing the Principle, Gosunkugi had managed to get fliers all over Furinkan High.

Now, to wait.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Enigma

Akane reflects a bit.

Chapter Text

Exasperation clung to Akane like cement glue. She would have her girlfriend.

It had been two weeks since the incident, and now Akane knew that Ranma is a girl. But Akane had been routinely unsuccessful in attempting to make her girlfriend open up about that fact. Encouraging Ranma’s femininity only made her more desperate to cling to masculinity “for Akane”.

Two weeks of failures, two weeks since Akane found the secret wardrobe, two weeks of agonizingly pushing through the torrent of internalized bullshit, two weeks since she read it. And so Akane thought back to when she first discovered the journal…

Two weeks ago…

Akane had been looking through Ranma’s room, newly vacated by a certain Panda who was thankfully on a lone training journey, when she found that the closet had a false wall. If I turn it maybe…

The false wall opened to reveal a second closet full of all of Ranma’s “disguises”. I thought he got rid of this stuff, it’s all too good of fuel for Nabiki to keep profiting off of him. Hmmm… what’s this? Brushing aside some truly hyperfeminine clothing, Akane found a small notebook, covered in some pink stickers of flowers, as well as stickers of hearts and the like. Curious, Akane began to read.

Dear Diary,

I’m shit at all this girly stuff, and yet, I dunno… I’m not feeling the same vertigo thinking of my girl body that I do in my boy body… Ugh, this is stupid, stupid Tofuu, making me write this stupid diary!!!!

Log 1–Ranma

Diary,

This weird feeling came over me when I wore a dress today, I feel all weird about it… It felt kinda, good… Akane’s right I am a pervert, FUCK!! I don’t got time to mope about it, maybe some good training will do the trick? That should work.

Log 2-Ranma

Diary…

I um… may have actually investigated… down there, an——

Akane whirled back into the present. On her morning jog, however, something caught her eye: Costume Swap Dance, Furinkan High. The Perfect Chance.

Chapter Text

Ranma wasn’t particularly excited by the prospect of this party. I have to pretend that I’m a guy for this, and yet Yuka and Sayuri said that I’m gonna be extra femme, what the fuck is going on?!

Akane popped up behind her, making her jump. “What ‘s it?!” Ranma yelled.

“We’ve got to make our costumes,” Akane said, plopping black lace fabric onto the bed, as well as a corset, and several layers of dress. “Do you mind helping me sew this design? Kasumi tells me that you are better with a needle and thread than even her.”

Ranma blushed a little at the compliment, “I wouldn’t say I’m that good, just have some experience in repairs.” Ignoring all the dresses that I’ve made in my closet.

“Oh, don’t be so modest,” Akane assured, “So, about this design… I’m thinking a sort of goth lolita vampire, with a corset and some lacework.”

Ranma defaulted to projecting masculinity, and that means insults, “I’m not sure what a corset is gonna do for you, but sure, I can make it.”

Ranma watched Akane’s eye twitch, preparing for impact, only to see Akane her soften, “Just do it, dork!”

Ranma went to work, hours of patterning (a process made significantly harder by some impossible intricacies of Akane’s sketch), cutting, and sewing, repeated for Ranma’s own design, a French Aristocratic inspired Vampire outfit to compliment Akane’s design. In the end Ranma was bone tired, but she was proud.

When Akane returned, she was worried about Ranma, but she quickly found herself pleased with Ranma’s work. “Wow, this costume is amazing, I can’t wait to wear it!”

“Don’t you mean the other one?” Ranma asked.

“Nope.”

“What?!” Ranma replied, her face incredulous.

“Oh, yeah.” Akane began, grinning mischievously, “At this party we design costumes and then swap them for the event. You, dork, are going to be wearing this.” Akane held up the Black Lolita dress, her smile sending shivers down Ranma’s spine.

Wait, I’m going to be the one wearing that?!

C:I have joined the club of "forcing Ranma into Gothic Lolita", I'm not sorry.

Chapter Text

Ranma slipped on the dress, Akane insisted she be there, thus she saw what Ranma was wearing underneath, lighting her face ablaze. The layers of the dress took some time to assemble, and Akane did wind up making herself useful, helping cinch the corset.

After the dress was on, Ranma parted her hair, prepared to do her makeup, but Akane whirled her chair around, “You’re my pretty canvas tonight.” Akane prepared to do Ranma’s makeup, though it took a moment to match a shade to her face, given the red hot blush.

Ranma shivered as Akane applied her makeup with an unforeseen gentleness that racked her soul. She felt each light caress as a new foreign tingling on her countenance.

Finally, Akane put Ranma’s hair into a bun, and secured it with a hairpin that was made to look like a candied apple skewer.

As Ranma gazed into the mirror, she felt a strange giddiness arise within her, looking at the way the lace fell on her body, the way that her figure felt like her own, the way her hair framed her beautiful face. Electric shivers raced through her, stirring her to life, only to turn into shudders when Akane put a hand on her shoulder and whispered in her ear, “Good Girl.”

Ranma’s world was collapsing on top of her, “Fuck! Y-you… you knew?”

“For two weeks”

Ranma’s heart rate spiked, “B-but I can’t be right for you like this, not… not when I am right for me.” Ranma’s voice was barely a whisper.

Akane’s voice cut through the fog, “You’re still my girlfriend, you will always be right for me. My Perfect Girl.” Ranma’s heart filled with relief.

For the first time, Ranma couldn’t let herself cry, not because she was “A Man Amongst Men”, but because she didn’t want to ruin her mascara.
