Chapter 1: Soundwave- The Sound Energy Hero is no More
Chapter Text
“Soundwave over here!”
“No no over here!” Camera flashes blocked everything I could see. I kept smiling, pushing past all the reporters that blocked my path as I dragged the villain behind me.
“All Might! All Might! Can you share any news about this fight?” A small brown haired woman asked the man walking next to me.
“No more need to worry! The villains have been apprehended!” His smile probably shined brighter than the cameras flashing. We kept moving through the crowd and finally made it to the police cars with the officers already waiting with quirk-nulling handcuffs.
“Thank you Soundwave and All Might, we blockaded the area about 3 blocks out, so hopefully no more villains are coming by without the other heroes getting them first” one officer said to us.
“No problem sir, thank you for all that you do” I gave him a smile, handing over the villains that we captured. I began to turn away before I felt the blond man grab onto my arm.
“Soundwave, do you remember what night it is?”
“Yes! How could I forget our weekly soba night” I giggled towards him.
“I’ll see you at five then?”
“Of course” I walked away, sighing into my mask. Today’s so long, I just want to get home to them.
-----------
“So then he basically turned as red as his hair and started stuttering out of nowhere” the scrawny blond man sat in front of me, gossiping about how Endeavour was at a hero briefing.
“You know if he here’s you gossiping like this he’ll probably have your head” I slurped on the warm soba in front of me.
“Please, he’s too busy posing for photo ops he won’t be able to hear me” I snorted at Toshinori’s response. For being Japan’s number one hero, he sure does love drama like a middle school girl.
“Toshi” the mood changed as I brought up a subject me and him know very well.
“Yes Mion?” He stopped eating and gave me his full attention.
“It’s going to happen soon, I feel it” a few tears were coming up into my eyes.
“Why do you say that?”
“The outbursts are getting worse and worse. He keeps hiding it from the children, but I think they’re catching on” a lone tear rolled down my face as I tried to keep it together inside of the restaurant. I’m so glad I wear a full face mask on my hero costume, so no one is able to notice that Japans #2 hero is crying into her soba about her marriage.
“Mion, it’s going to be ok. I know it’s going to be hard to bring it up to him, but divorce is the only way you are going to get out of it”
“And what if it isn’t? What if he hurts me to the point I…. what if he hurts them?” The thought of him hurting my children makes my blood boil. The lights of my life, if anything were to happen to them I would never forgive myself.
“Nothing is ever going to happen to them” he had a serious look on his face. One he only wears when he is ready to fight strong villains.
“How would you know?”
“I know”
“Please, Toshi, if anything happens to me, please take care of them. I already have things in place for them involving insurance and money and schooling, just please tell me you'll take care of them” I grabbed onto his hand like a child holds onto its mothers, my eyes begging him with tears streaming down my face.
“I promise you Mion, I will take them,” Toshi said, with no doubts or second thoughts in his voice. I have known Toshi since before he even got One for All. I was there with him when he received the quirk, and I was the one to help him train whenever Gran Torino couldn’t. While we work alone, we do team up a lot. He was there for me so much, I love him like he was my own brother.
“Thank you Toshi, thank you” I lowered my head more and more, bowing to him in gratitude.
-----------
“Kids, I'm home!” I kicked off my feet and walked into the house. It was quiet, too quiet for it being just 9 pm. They usually stay up later. I walked upstairs and went past each of their rooms. Satoshi and Hayato were sleeping on their respective bunks, sound asleep. Down the hall was Y/N, curled up inside of her bed. Good, he hasn’t done anything to them. I didn’t hear any moving inside of the house, so he most likely wasn’t home. I let out a sign and lowered my guard. Like Toshi said, I need to talk to him about a divorce.
I walked into the bathroom and took off my clothes to take a shower, I began to let the water warm up and took off my jewelry before entering. The warm water over my body helped the aching bones and muscles. I really do need a massage. Taking the wash cloth and soap, I began to lather myself.
A strong smell of alcohol filled my nose. I turned my head and saw him. Hikaru, my husband. Except that isn’t the man I fell in love with years ago. His warm face turned cold and hard over time, looking at me with disgust. He never hurt the children, always hid it from them. The one thing I could thank him for.
“Hik-” my sentence was cut short as water began to enter my nose and mouth. He was using his quirk on me. I couldn’t do anything but bang on the shower door as my lungs felt on fire. My quirk couldn’t be used in water in fear of electrocuting myself. I tried sliding the door open, but it was no use. The energy slowly started to leave my body as the burning sensation grew more and more. I needed to breathe, but I just couldn’t.
“Mommy what's going on?” I heard a small voice come from the bathroom door. Y/N rubbed her eyes sleepily before whipping them open at the sight of her father suffocating her mother. I tried letting out a muffled scream, but nothing came out.
“DADDY STOP” she yelled, running towards Hikaru. He flicked his hand and water materialized out of thin air. He started to suffocate her as well, but then let her go. She slid backwards towards the wall, struck with fear. Her eyes were scanning around the entire room, panicking.
My body was losing more and more energy. I hit the bottom of the shower floor and my vision was turning black. I tried reaching out for something to get me out of here. I need to protect them. It was all in vain as a cold sensation started running over me. It was all finally black and quiet.
-----------
“Come on Y/N, come to daddy” the drunken man slurred, walking his way towards the little girl.
“Get away from me!” she yelled, promptly waking up her two older brothers who came running into the room.
“Dad whats- MOM” Hayato used his quirk and was by his moms side in a blink of an eye.
“What did you do to her?!” Satoshi yelled, activating his quirk to summon a scythe. The energy coming off of the two boys was strong, already at nine years old they had major control over their quirks.
“I didn’t do anything!” He lied to them, but they knew the truth. The water dripping out of their mom’s eyes and mouth told a different story.
“He killed her!” Y/N yelled out, now being guarded by her weapon-wielding brother.
“I did not!” Their father roared, quirk activating again and making the water in the room swirl around them rapidly.
“Hayato, call the police!” Satoshi yelled, knowing his brother is faster than the water and can escape. His twin brother nodded and ran through the water, barely stopping his quirk in time to make sure he didn’t get electrocuted.
“Get back here Hayato” the man yelled, about to aim his quirk towards the boy who just ran out of the bathroom when a barrier appeared in front of him, pushing the water back into him and making him slam backwards into the wall. The small girl held her hand up at him, cackling with energy as she used her quirk.
“You fucking brats!” he was going to aim again before he heard sirens down the street and the sound of heroes outside. He cursed under his breath before snapping his fingers, appearing to signal to someone. A black swirl of clouds appeared behind him. Slowly stepping back into it, he yelled out to his children;
“You will become villains, whether you like it or not you will be with me! I made you! You are mine!” and he finally disappeared into the blackened cloud. The water that was once swirling in the room came to a stop, an eerie silence came over the room.
“Y/N are you ok?” The boy lowered his weapon and it dispersed into a small electrical burst.
“Y-yes I’m ok” she whispered back. He took her into a hug, letting the little girl cry into his arms as his brother came running back up into the room with some policemen.
It was a whirlwind of people coming in and out of the house, asking them if they were ok, what happened, who all was here. The children could barely keep up with answering all of them. The only saving grace was a scrawny blond man waiting there for them, silently standing on the side, watching and waiting for them to get checked out before turning away. Now was not the time, they needed rest and to heal. Placing them immediately with a new guardian will cause issues with trust. He had connections with the hospital for them to have two weeks inside of the care unit, and then he will take care of them.
“I promise you Mion, he won’t ever get near them” he stared down at the dead naked body of his best friend, slowly zipping the body bag back up. The children shouldn’t have seen their mother like this.
“He will never”
Chapter 2: Future Planning
Chapter Text
“Do you care to elaborate more on that?” The lady sat in front of me, a soft rain sound came from the sound machine. The office has pale blue walls with minimal decor, a warm hue from all the tiny lamps gives the room a cozy feeling.
“I… I don’t really know anything else” I fidgeted with the tassels on the pillow in my lap. My therapist sighed, knowing that she couldn’t get anything else out of me. I’ve been seeing her for two years now, ever since I was 10. She knows when I was done with the session, emotionally checking out.
“Ok Ito, thank you for sharing what you can” she stood up, brushing off her neutral colored clothes.
“Will your brothers be picking you up today, or is it your guardian?”
“My guardian” I told her, still fidgeting with the pillow. I heard her rustling around with something and then she walked over, handing me some slime to play with instead of the tassels.
“I’ll give you some time to decompress and let you know when he is here” she smiled at me and left, closing the door behind her. I sighed, letting go of the pillow and placing the slime on the coffee table in front of me. Ever since the incident 8 years ago, I have been going through so many emotions. Seeing my mother die, almost drowning by my father’s quirk, living with the number one hero in disguise, it’s been so much for me. The anger, sadness, hopelessness; it kept me up at night wishing I was able to change what happened that night. I know that I can’t change it, but some little part of me wishes I could’ve. I started therapy to try and understand my feelings, and it truly has helped, but it still hurts deep down inside.
My mental state wasn’t the only thing that has changed. Living with Toshinori has been a major one. He has three main rules we have to follow; no one in the home besides us, must be back by 6pm, and all three of us can’t be together at the same time. These are because our father is still hunting us, wanting us to become villains with him. He has left so many signs around the city, writing our names in blood of his victims, overtaking a news channel to spread his message. All of this has caused us to change our names from L/N to Ito, a common Japanese name. Toshinori promised mother that he will keep us safe, and he has tried his hardest to do so.
“Ito, your guardian is here” I was pulled out of my thoughts and looked up to see a familiar lanky man standing in the doorway with my therapist.
“Are you ready Y/N?”
“Yeah, I just got to get my bag” I stood up and reached for the brown bag covered in charms and pins my brothers got me. Due to the” no having anyone over rule” and my curfew, I never had many friends. Even if I made some, Toshinori has us move every few years to keep villains off of our trails. The one perk of being the number one hero is the amount of money he makes. It's pretty much been me, my brothers, and Toshinori for the last few years.
The walk to the train was quiet, the leaves falling off of the trees indicated that we were in late fall. I paced my stepping, making sure to step on the crunchiest leaves.
“Toshinori” I spoke out, looking up at the man.
“Yes Y/N?”
“Have you found anyone yet?” His face lit up red and he began to stutter.
“W-What do you mean Y/N??”
“For your quirk” I realized he thought I meant a partner. I know Toshinori too well, he does not want to get into a romantic relationship with anyone. He’s a tired old man dealing with villains and us.
“Oh… not yet Y/N”
“Do you think you ever will?” I knew the time was ticking down for him. He told us about a year into us living with him when he came home still in his hero form by accident. We knew we wouldn’t be the successors, so instead we helped him look for some. A few got close, but Toshinori didn’t agree in the end.
“One day, I know that one day the right person will come along”
“Did Sat and Haya come home yet?” I knew they had training today at school. Being towards the end of their second year at U.A, they need to put in overtime to be able to keep up with the demand of villains that keep popping up. Luckily they are both in Class 2-B, so they can push each other.
“Yeah they’re home. Its Sats turn to make dinner tonight, and I believe he is making fried chicken” my mouth watered at the idea. He’s a wonderful cook unlike Haya, but Haya is a better baker by a long shot. Together, they make the best full course meals. They leave me to clean up the dishes, which I don’t mind since it gives me time to just listen to music and zone out.
We stood at the train station for a little bit, sitting in a comfortable silence as the air around us slowly blew. A family also joined us on the platform, making it only our two groups. It was 2 moms and a little boy, not older than 3. While the moms talked, he started playing with the leaves on the ground, stepping onto them and giggling at the crushing sound.
I raised my hand up slightly and felt the sounds around me. I felt the familiar warmth inside of my hands and let out a small amount of energy, allowing the air to begin to shake and move before creating a small gust of wind to move the leaves around the small boy. He began giggling more and more, allowing me to use my quirk longer. The veins in my arms glowed a slight white color, and small sparks of electricity bounced on my skin. They were very subtle, only visible if you are close to me.
The moms turned to me and let out small giggles, noticing their son dancing with the leaves. One of them took out her phone and took many photos of him. I made sure to move the leaves for the best shots of him focused on catching the leaves. Moving the air is one of the easiest things to do with my quirk, since sound is just movement of air.
We heard the train enter the station, and I let the energy fizzle out, the leaves slowly floating back onto the ground. Toshinori and I stood up and walked towards the train, hearing the little boy say “bye bye” as the doors closed behind us. I waved from the window, and his small hand waved back.
------------
“Because you know I’m right!” Hayato yelled at Satoshi over math problems at the kitchen table. I was at the sink, trying to wash the dishes but the constant yelling is starting to ruin my flow.
“How? Do you not know the power rule? Do you even know the product rule?” Satoshi yelled back, pointing at numbers and letters on a paper.
“Stop yelling your messing me up” I yelled towards them.
“How can we mess you up on cleaning the dishes?! It's literally scrub, rinse, dry, and repeat?” Satoshi countered.
“I don’t ever see you cleaning? How’s your room huh? Probably smells like stale eggs” I yelled back to him.
“Excuse you! I keep my room clean unlike Haya over here” he pointed towards our brother.
“How the hell did I get dragged into this?”
“Because!” Me and Satoshi yelled back to him. We argued a little bit back and forth until it died down when we realized it was 8 at night and they have the homework due tomorrow.
“So Y/N, any plans as to where you’re going to high school?” I joined my brothers at the table, slowly sipping away at some lemonade.
“I literally am finishing my first year of middle school, I think I have some time before I decide”
“You say that now, but next year you’ll have to begin letting your teachers know of your plans,” Hayato said, peering up from his paper.
“Its not like I’m staying at this school. Once you guys graduate, I’m in your care, so I’ll be moving where ever you guys want me to go”
“What about Mutusafu? I heard they had some good middle schools. Even if you are only there for a year, it’s good you still go to a nice place”
“Mutusafu would be nice. It’s not too noisy and there are plenty of parks to relax in” Satoshi chimed in. A major part of where we live is based on noise level. Since the three of our quirks rely on sound, we don’t want to risk the chances of them accidentally activating until we all have full control over them. Satoshi and Hayato have really good control over their quirks, but it took them years of training to do it. They only recently started me and my training, involving basic offense and defense, but mainly strength and speed training. It is hard to train when you are against someone at the speed of sound, and to fight against someone who can summon weapons whenever he wants, but I’m slowly getting there.
“I don’t want to move too far away from Toshinori though” I voiced. My brothers looked at each other and shook their heads in agreement. His quirk is getting weaker, and he needs to find a successor fast. Being close to him will guarantee that we can keep an eye on him.
“Its only a 20 minute train ride from here, so if something happens we will get here in time” Hayato reassured me. I let my shoulders relax a little bit.
“Are you guys excited to enter your final year and soon not only be sidekicks anymore?” I asked.
“OH YES I AM” Satoshi exclaimed, throwing his arm around Hayato’s shoulders.
“Just you wait for the headlines; Marksman and Paradox! The best hero duo to ever exist!”
“I still think you should come to U.A. There are so many other hero courses out there, but U.A is going to give you the best education for your quirk”
“I’ll think about it, Shiketsu is also a good school in terms of academics” I noted.
“NOT THE RIVAL SCHOOL!”
Chapter 3: First Day Shithole (Part One)
Chapter Text
Starting a new school was always rough, but I thought after changing schools 5 times it would’ve gotten easier. I looked in the mirror and straightened out the new black school uniform, making sure that there were no wrinkles in it. My hair was pulled up and out of my face, and I leaned in close to make sure my makeup was ok. I took one last look at myself, satisfied in how I looked. I do enjoy getting dolled up, and luckily I had time this morning. Being 14 as a girl was hard, and I know I had to look presentable before entering this school to even survive a change among them. I remember last year I had a bad hair day and for a week this girl pestered me about it. Luckily, Satoshi takes pride in his maintenance and gave me plenty of tips on how to look better.
“Y/N hurry up you're going to be late” Hayato yelled from downstairs, and I heard him thumbing his foot impatiently. While living with just my brothers has definitely been a change in the past month, I really do enjoy it. I do miss movie nights with Toshinori though. I made my way down the steps and saw my brothers sitting at the kitchen table. My lunch box was already made up for me, courtesy of Satoshi.
“Do you have all of your school supplies? Water? What about earbuds in case it gets too loud?” Satoshi sat up in his chair.
“I have all of them packed already, I’ll be fine” I smiled at my brothers.
“By the way we have work today until late, so you’ll be coming home to an empty house” Hayato spoke up, looking down at his phone.
“Is your phone charged?” Satoshi asked me another question.
“Calm down mom I got everything” I tried joking but realized what I actually said. The room shifted and we all just looked at each other. The topic of mom is very touchy, none of us still have gotten over it, especially since father has been causing more issues recently. It really is a wonder how he hasn’t found us yet. We still do live by Toshinori’s rules, even if we don't live with him anymore.
“She’s proud of you, of all of us” Hayato broke the silence, still sitting in his seat. We all gave each other a soft smile as I turned to leave.
“Please be proud of me mom, I need your strength right now” I whimpered outside of the house, trying to not let a tear roll down my face after I just fixed my makeup. After a minute to regroup, I was on my way to the train station, ready to start my new year at Aldera Junior High.
---------
I stood in front of the tall white building outside of the brick gate. There were many other people my age walking around, talking to their friends and catching up after the break. I wish I stayed at a school long enough to make these kinds of friendships, but now is not the time to worry about that. I walked my way through the gates and made my way to the front office.
“Excuse me?” I spoke to the lady at the desk.
“Yes dear, how can I help you?” she looked up from her paperwork at me.
“I’m new here this year and was wondering if you are able to direct me to my classroom?”
“Can I have your name?”
“Y/N Ito” It still feels weird not using L/N, even though it's been my legal name for years.
“Ah yes I see you here. We actually have some paperwork you need to fill out for us if you don’t mind taking a few minutes to do so”
“But aren’t I going to be late for class?” I asked her, worried about making the wrong impression on the first day.
“I will walk you there myself after the paperwork is filled out. If your teacher gives you a hard time, please let me know and I will deal with it” she smiled and handed me a small stack of paperwork and a pen. I took my place at one of the chairs in the office and used a book as a clipboard to write on.
The paperwork was mainly easy, just asking about extracurriculars and volunteer experience. Then came the last page, where they wanted me to write about my future high school. After long nights of discussing this with Toshinori and my brothers, I wrote down U.A as my option. I stood up and handed her my packet. She briefly skimmed through it before landing on the last page.
“U.A huh? We have two other boys in your class applying to that school as well” I smiled, thankful that hopefully I can get to know someone for more than two years.
“That's cool!”
“If you don’t mind me asking dear, what is your quirk? We don’t have it in the system yet”
“Sound Power”
“And what is that?” she questioned.
“I can turn sound into energy I can manipulate”
I only told her half the truth. In reality, me and my brothers have two quirks, a very rare occurrence for all of us to have. The story of our quirks is very interesting to begin with. Mom had a quirk called Sound God, where she was able to move at the speed of sound, make weapons out of energy, and manipulate energy from sounds. Somehow, her quirk was divided into three parts, and me and my brothers each got a part of it. For our second quirk, our father had two quirks as well. One was water manipulation, and the other was self healing. We all got self healing, allowing our cells to go through mitosis quicker and heal injuries faster. The Quirk Administration Board has no idea we have these second quirks, as we tried to remove everything that connected us to our father.
“Oh that’s a very nice quirk” she commented as she typed into the computer. The bell for homeroom to begin rang, and I knew that she was going to have to walk me to my classroom. She continued to type on the computer for roughly 2 more minutes before standing up.
“Follow me Ms Ito” she motioned me to walk with her as we exited the office. The school halls were nice and quiet, and really clean. I heard a few teachers begin with introductions and going over the year’s general plan before we finally reached a door. The lady knocked and we heard a males voice on the other side say to come in.
“Ah Ms Ito you finally decided to show up” he commented and I heard a few students snicker.
“She was finishing up paperwork Mr Suzuki” the lady said with a threatening tone. I like her already. The teacher looked shocked for a second before gaining composure.
“I-Im sorry Ms Ito, I didn’t realize you were busy” he apologized to me.
“It’s ok” I smiled at him and he relaxed. The lady then left and I was still standing in the front of the room with the teacher.
“So Ms Ito, do you care to introduce yourself to the class?” he asked. I turned and faced them, a bunch of eager eyes looking back at me.
“Hello, my name is Y/N Ito and I moved here from Hasu. It is a pleasure to meet you all and I hope we have a good year together” I smiled and bowed politely. ‘Remember first impressions’ Hayato’s voice rang in my head.
“Whats your quirk?” a girl in the back of the class asked me. That seemed to gain everyone's attention in the room, even the teachers.
“My quirk is called sound power, and I am able to turn sound into energy I can manipulate”
“Can you demonstrate it?” a boy from the other side of the room said.
“Quirks are not allowed inside of the classroom” the teacher said, but I felt like he still wanted to see.
“So Ms Ito, you don’t know your way around our school so I will assign you someone to give you a small tour. Midoriya, raise your hand” I turned and saw a green haired boy shyly raise his hand.
“He will be your tour guide for today, please sit in the empty seat next to him” I nodded and made my way back towards the seat. I sat down and turned to the green haired boy next to me and gave him a smile. His face lit up red and he gave a nervous smile back.
“Ok class, I know its the first day, but we have a lot to cover this year so please open your notebooks and-”
-----------
The bell finally rang for lunch to start. Many kids began packing up and walking out of the room. Even though I was finished, I was waiting for the green haired boy to pack up.
“Midoriya right?” I asked him, walking over to him.
“Y-Yes that's me!” he said with out of place excitement. He was very nervous, I could practically hear his heart beating out of his chest.
“Like I said I’m Y/N Ito, but you can just call me Y/N. Are you ready to go to lunch?”
“Ok! I usually sit in the courtyard if that's ok with you?”
“Of course, lead the way” I followed behind him as we made our way outside into a large courtyard. It appears that all the third year students are outside, especially because it is a very nice day out. Midoriya picked a spot close to the corner of the courtyard and reached into his lunch box.
“Do you usually sit with anyone else?” I asked him, pulling out the contents of my lunchbox.
“Not really” he looked down ashamed.
“Why not?” I probably shouldn’t be prying, but for some reason I felt the urge to do so.
“Not many people want to be seen with me since I’m quirkless” he nervously smiled. I knew what he was waiting for, the usual disgust of seeing someone without a quirk. I’ve seen it happen before way too many times.
“Then they’re stupid” I told him.
“W-What?” he looked really puzzled by my comment.
“The human race was all quirkless at one point, and when quirks came around people used to think that those who had quirks were freaks. It’s honestly just an endless cycle of bullying a small group of people to feel some kind of power. So they’re stupid” I took a bite of my food before turning to the boy. He looked like he was about to cry but was smiling.
“Are you good?”
“I just wasn’t expecting it. You’re very nice Y/N!” a tear rolled down his face.
“It’s not niceness, it’s basic human kindness”
“Oh, then you are not going to like Kachaan?”
“Whos that?”
“The spiky blond who sits behind me. We used to be friends when we were younger, but after he developed his quirk and I didn’t, he started to bully me. A lot. He bullies a lot of people now but many me” he looked down at the ground, slowly eating his food.
“Sounds like a confidence issue honestly”
“Huh?”
“A guy randomly bullying people for no reason other than they are different? Sounds like internal issues”
“Hmmm” he sat pondering for a moment.
“I do try and see the good in people, but” I paused.
“But what” he looked back at me.
“Some people don’t deserve sympathy I’ll just say that” I smiled at him, causing him to blush again. He began to scribble something down in a notebook he pulled out of his back pack.
“What are you doing?” I asked as I sipped on my water.
“O-Oh, it's nothing” his face turned a deeper red.
“That's a lie. Just tell me” I looked at him with a serious face.
“I keep a book of heroes and their quirks, and I do it for some other people so I started to make a page about you”
“Can I see it?”
“S-Sure!” his hands shook has he handed over the notebook. I began to page through it, noticing the insane amount of detail for the heroes, and then I got to the page about Toshinori. I’m so glad this guy isn’t a stalker (that I know of), because the information is insane.
“I take it you like All Might?”
“Yes! He’s my favorite hero!” his face lit up.
“He is a very good hero, but I would say my personal favorite is Soundwave”
“Oh yes I remember her! Her and All Might were basically a duo before” he cut himself off, noticing my change in vibes. I tried not to show the sadness I felt, so I just kept flipping through the pages until I got to me. It was a rough sketch of me in my uniform with my quirk labeled as well as a few other things.
- I smell like vanilla
- Very sweet
- Profound
“I wouldn’t call myself profound but thank you” I laughed a little bit at the compliment.
“Well I think you are,” he smiled. I noticed he started getting more relaxed the more time we spent together. That’s good.
“Hey Ito!” A random goup of boys came up to us.
“Yes?”
“There’s no teachers on lunch duty right now, can you show us your quirk?” one asked.
“Hmmm, I’ll do a small demonstration” I stood up and brushed my skirt off.
“Midoriya, make sure to put this down in your notebook” I smiled back at him as I walked towards the center of the courtyard. A circle began to form around us, all interested in my quirk.
“What do you wanna see?” I asked the group of boys.
“Anything!” one said back. I thought for a second before deciding what to do. I felt the sounds in the air come to me before focusing on sending them out in tentacle-like arms. They moved around me and slid between people. I felt my skin start to glow and a slight twinge of electricity on my arms.
“Woah!” I heard a few people gasp. I decided to change it up and focused on covering my body all in electricity, amplifying the sparks that were already on it. I looked like a Christmas Tree with the way it was lighting me up. I sent a few tiny sparks and had them land on a few peoples noses, not strong enough to hurt them. I slowly released that energy, allowing myself to come back down to my ground state. The glowing in my veins slowly went away.
“That was so cool!”
“You can be a real pro hero with that!”
“I wish my quirk was that cool!” I blushed at their compliments, not expecting this much praise from people before.
“Oi!” I heard a voice from behind me. I turned and it was the boy Midoriya called Kachaan. His red eyes locked onto mine as he walked towards me.
“Can I help you?” I asked.
“I don’t know who you think you are, but only I can be the strongest!”
“I have no idea what you are yelling about”
“I’m going to be the number one hero, and I’m not going to let some weakling show me up with some party tricks and disco lights!”
“The only weakling around here is you for randomly picking on people to try and show your superiority against them. If you actually were strong, you wouldn’t feel the need to constantly show it” I smirked at him.
“What did you say?” Now I know that pissed him off. No more yelling, just gritted teeth and harsh red eyes.
“You heard me, Kachaan” his brows furrowed more at me calling him by his name.
“After school, Aoi Park”
“I don’t fight people, if you have something to say then say it with words”
“Aoi Park after school or else I will beat your ass in this courtyard tomorrow”
“....” he smirked at my silence before walking away, the crowd parting for him.
“Y/N, are you ok?” Midoriya came to me, and whispers ran through the crowd.
“She’s going to die”
“Dude Bakugou is insane”
“First day here and he’s already picking fights with her”
“Don’t worry Midoriya, I’ll be ok” I turned and looked up at the green haired boy. Giving him a reassuring smile, I walked my way back to our lunch spot, not caring about the people staring at me. I’m more worried about what my brothers are going to think when they come home and find out that I beat a kid up on my first day of classes.
I’m not worried about me fighting against him, I’m more worried about the aftermath of it. The lady in the office said two people wanted to go to U.A from our class, and from the looks of it, I may be stuck with him in high school.
“Ughhhh Midoriya I’m going to dieeee”
Chapter 4: First Day Shithole (Part Two)
Chapter Text
The closer and closer the school bell got to ringing, the worse and worse my stress got. Literally what am I going to tell my brothers? Oh hey, sorry that my first day of school was a total shit show and I immediately got into a fight with a boy whose arrogance is out of this world. My bad! I think Hayato would understand a little bit but Satoshi? No way is he going to understand.
Once the bell rang at four, everyone began to get up and leave the room, chatting to each other. I slowly packed up my things, trying to prevent what would happen. I’m not a fighter, why did I agree to this? I DIDN’T EVEN AGREE TO THIS HE TOOK MY SILENCE AS AGREEMENT?
“You ok Y/N?” Midoriya asked, standing next to my desk. I heard a low tsk behind us and watched the blond walk out of the room, a scowl on his face.
“Yeah I’m ok, I just don’t really want to fight him”
“I understand, Kachaan is really strong and no one else has beaten him in a fight before” he rubbed the back of his neck, probably remembering their childhood together.
“It’s not that, I know I could win against him. I just don’t like hurting people when words can be used” I explained.
“Really? You’re so cool Y/N!” he smiled and I swear a sun formed behind him.
“Thank you Midoriya, I appreciate it a lot” I felt a small blush come up on my face.
“Uhh… could I get your number by chance? JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE NEW TO THE AREA AND SCHOOL SO WE CAN HELP EACH OTHER” he put his hands up defensively and I laughed.
“HAHAHA! Of course!” I pulled out my phone from my pocket and handed it to him.
“I know we just met today, but you’re a good friend Y/N” he began to type his number into my phone. Friend? He called me his friend? I felt a warmth grow inside of my body. Finally, a friend. Hopefully it will last longer than just this year, he’s really sweet. I looked up at the clock and noticed it was 4:10, meaning I should probably start heading to the park.
“I’m sorry to cut this conversation short, but I should probably get going” I pointed towards the clock.
“Do you need me to come with you? I know I don’t have a quirk but if something happens I can go and tell someone or call the police or-” he began muttering to himself.
“I’ll be ok Midoriya. I’ll text you when I make it back home ok?” I reassured him. He nodded, but the look on his face still showed me he was concerned. Poor guy, what did this guy do to him?
-----------
I eventually found my way to the park. It was very secluded, and I found Kachaan in the middle of a field like area with enough space to fight.
“Hi Kachaan” I smiled, still being friendly to him as I put my bag down.
“Don’t call me that” he scowled.
“But isn’t that your name?”
“No it's not! Damn Deku always calling me that shit”
“Who is Deku?”
“That green haired fucker you were with all day” He was referring to Midoriya. It must be nicknames for each other then.
“So then what's your actual name?” I asked.
“You don’t need to know that, you only need to know my hero name when I become Japan's number one hero” he puffed out his chest in pride. Damn he really does have a lot of issues.
“Shouldn’t I know the name of the guy I’m fighting though?” He paused for a second, and in the quiet I could hear the birds chirping around us. This would be a really peaceful place to go if I wasn’t about to be assaulted by a random guy.
“It's Bakugou,” he finally answered begrudgingly.
“It’s nice to finally have a name to a face” I told him.
“How the hell are you so calm right now?” he asked me with a mix of anger and confusion.
“Because I know you wouldn’t actually use your quirk against me. If you want to become a hero, getting caught using your quirk in public without a license will definitely cause you issues” I just bullshitted my way through that answer, hoping that it was true. In reality, he looks like he would kill me.
“Tsk, then why did you show up then if you already knew”
“Because I was curious”
“Whatever, I don’t even need my quirk to fight you” he got into a fighting stance. Ah, so he did still want to fight, just old fashion. However, his stance sucked. He had his legs too far apart and gave many openings around his stomach.
“Are you sure you want to fight me?” I gave him a warning, downcasting my gaze at him. He didn’t answer, instead got in close and tried throwing a punch at me. I raised my arm and blocked it, pushing it out of the way then sweeping his feet. He hit the ground with a thud and I got on the ground with him, placing him into a simple arm lock. It clearly surprised him, as at first he didn’t struggle and was looking at me like ‘what the hell just happened?’ I eventually let go and stood up, reaching my hand down to help him up. He didn’t take it, just slapping it out of his face and stood up on his own.
“Again” he said, getting back into his bag fighting position.
“Do you know how to do hand to hand combat?” I asked.
“Of course I do!” He got defensive.
“Then why does your stance suck so much? You leave so much area around your stomach open and your balance is ass” I told him the truth.
“And what the hell do you know?”
“Enough to be able to pin you down with ease obviously” I smirked. He didn’t like that and came after me again, this time swinging his leg up to try and crack me in the ribs. I moved out of the way, his shoes barely grazing my jacket. Before he placed his leg back down, I gave him a right hook into the stomach, making him double over onto the ground, clutching where I just hit him.
“What the hell?!” he yelled out between gasps of air.
“You said you knew hand to hand combat, apparently not” I smirked.
“You damn bitch”
“Bitch?” my voice lowered. I hate it when people use that word to me. He noticed that and doubled down.
“What's wrong bitch?” he stood back up, slightly swaying from the punch. I didn’t give him an answer, instead I just stood there. Don’t give him the satisfaction he wants, don't give it to him I kept repeating in my head.
“No more bite left in you huh?” He was annoyed at me not reacting to him. I still stood there, just looking at him.
“Whatever” he let his guard down finally, realizing I wasn’t going to fight him anymore.
“You’re not going to become a good hero if you keep acting like this” I told him, finally breaking my silence.
“And how would you know that?”
“Do you think All Might would be as popular as he is if he acted like you? Do you think people would consider him the beacon of hope if he constantly looked down on people?” I asked him. Something must have struck inside of him. He had no response, just stood there looking at me with a blank face.
“If you want to become a hero, work on your mind and body. Both need strength. You may be physically strong, but you are mentally weak” I started walking to pick up my bag again, ready to leave.
“Damn it” I heard him mutter to himself.
“What?” I turned to him, and he started walking towards me before stopping a few feet in front of me.
“Train with me” he said flatly.
“And what if-”
“Train. With. Me.” he cut me off, leaving no room for questions.
“Only if you actually promise to work on yourself mentally. I can help you physically but only you can do the mental part” he rolled his eyes at my comment. I gave him a look and he finally said yes.
“If we are going to train, you need my number. I’m really only free on the weekends but I may be able to squeeze in some time during the week for you” I handed him my phone and he took it, put his number in, then walked away. He didn’t even say goodbye. That was rude, but not shocking from what I’ve seen so far. I’m more shocked I got his number.
---------
“So then he came down and almost struck me in the face, but I was able to swing my scythe back and strike him right across the stomach” Satoshi continued his story about hero work today as Hayato was devouring the pizza on his plate. Toshinori decided to join us for dinner tonight, sitting at the head of the table.
“That's impressive Sat” Toshinori said, a smile on his face.
“That was nothing. You should’ve tried getting four kids out of that building before the floors collapsed” Hayato’s mouth was stuffed full of food. Satoshi gave him a disgusted look and told him to close his mouth.
“And what about you Y/N? How was your first day of classes?” Toshinori turned to me.
“It was decent. I became friends with this one guy named Midoriya. He might be your number one fan” I laughed, reminded of the notebook he carried around with him.
“Really? It’s always good to inspire the youth” Toshinori took a bite of his food.
“Anything else happen today?” Hayato asked, mouth finally empty.
“I got myself a new training partner” I left out the details about what led up to it.
“That’s good. The U.A entrance exam is only a few months away so you really do need to start training more. I heard the competition this year is insane” Satoshi commented.
“Speaking of U.A” Toshinori cut in. We turned our attention to him.
“Y/N, I must ask you a question that I asked Satoshi and Hayato when it was time for them to apply. Do you or do you not want me to send in the recommendation letter from your mother and I?” he asked me.
“Mom wrote us recommendation letters?”
“Yes. When you all manifested your quirks, she knew you all were going to be stronger than she was since you all were able to perfect each part of her quirk. She came to me and we each wrote you three recommendation letters in case you ever wanted to get into a hero course. She wanted to make sure you had all the resources able to succeed” he lowered his head slightly. Every time he talked about mom his mood changed. It’s hard remembering your best friend and practically sister die and having to take care of three children who look exactly like her.
“Did you guys accept it?” I turned to my brothers.
“Nah, mainly because we wanted to fight in the entrance exams. However, we know how you feel about fighting” Hayato said.
“We wouldn’t think of you differently if you chose not to go through the entrance exams and instead went through the recommendation exams” Satoshi commented.
“Plus, then you could be the first person recommended by All Might” Hayato smirked and Satoshi rolled his eyes at him.
“I would honestly prefer not going through the entrance exams, but I would still have to train for the recommendation exams” I pondered out loud.
“You don’t have to let me know yet, but just let me know by the end of next month to send it in” Toshinori reassured.
“Also about U.A” Toshinori continued, “I actually will be a teacher there next year”
“How come?” Hayato asked.
“One for All’s time with me is soon coming to an end. I can barely hold my hero form for half an hour anymore. I need to find someone young to take my place” For some reason, Midoriya crossed my mind. I don’t know why, but something about him just speaks drive and motivation. If I have gone through all the emotional and physical torment he went through, I don’t think I would have come out the other end with his positive attitude.
“There’s still time between now and then to look as well” Satoshi took another slide of pizza out of the box in the center of the table.
“I just hope All for One doesn’t pop up between now and then” the mention of him sent shivers down our spines. All for One and dad, or as his villain name is, Leviathan, work together. Dad wanted more power, so he started working with the strongest villain to exist.
“He’s been silent for about a year now. If he pops up soon I would be surprised” Satoshi said.
“I just hope next time we do see him, we will be ready.”
Chapter 5: Fear and Control
Notes:
Some slight mentions of PTSD symptoms
Just wanted to give some more insight into what Y/N has went through involving her mental state
Chapter Text
Three months. Three months it took me before I was able to take a shower again. The fear of drawing constantly rang in my ears. My hair was constantly greasy and my body was scrubbed raw with wash clothes to avoid getting in the shower. The only way I was able to take a shower was if Toshinori was in the bathroom on the other side of the curtain. It took me 4 months after that to be able to shower on my own.
2 years. It took me until I was six to be able to talk to other people outside of my brothers and Toshinori. The constant fear and issues of trust rang through my head. I was scared that they would hurt me, go against me. I decided that it was easier to be quiet than make friends. Instead I observed. Constantly on edge and watching people around me. I would make mental notes of their patterns, tones, actions. I became really good at reading people from a young age.
4 years. When I was 8 we moved into a new school and Toshinori encouraged me to talk to people, so I tried. While I was good at observing, I was not good at communicating. I would make comments about their actions and words and how they wouldn’t match. It made kids avoid me a lot.
5 years. I changed my way of communicating. Talk when spoken to, become a good listener. It made people come up to me more, but some of the girls would still avoid me. They would say I look off putting and not put together. They would make comments about how its obvious my mom doesn’t care for me or else she wouldn’t have let me out of the house looking like that. I would run home and cry, cursing my mom for not being there to help me. Toshinori was a good parental figure, but in those moments of judgement I wanted my mom. I had faint memories of her reassuring me and doing my hair every day before preschool, telling me how I was the most beautiful girl in the world before she booped my nose. Satoshi would find me and sit me in his room, showing me videos of how to do my hair and how to shave my legs. He took pride in how he looked, and wanted me to feel the same confidence.
6 years. I was now at a new school, finally fitting in. I had my looks and my social skills perfected. I would spend hours talking to myself, pretending to have full on communications to learn how to react. I was liked at this school. One day, we had swimming lessons in the gym. I thought I was fine, it has been years since I had any flashbacks revolving around touching water. As soon as my head went under, it happened. I felt the memories of the burning sensation, the look in my dads eyes and the lack of control I felt. I was dragged out of the water by the teacher and rushed to the hospital.
8 years. I’ve been in therapy for 2 years now. They would have me talk in an office one week, and the next I would be emerged in a tub of water. It would slowly get deeper over time. At first, I would constantly panic, being pulled out of the water and curled up on the side. My quirk would act us as well, changing from its usual white to black. Sound Power has two drawbacks to it; the more I use it, the more I feel the urge to hurt people and feeling fear makes my quirk lash out, both of them stem from the idea of losing control. This is why it goes black in these scenarios, since I am losing control of myself.
9 years. We begin the process of moving to another school. While I began saying goodbye to the people from the last school, I didn’t really feel sad. I never knew these people long enough to build a real bond with them. None of them ever called me their friend, asked to hang out, or asked for my number. They would really only talk to me in school. I got used to it, focusing my time on working out and studying. As Hayato and Satoshi finished up their last year at U.A, they began to teach me simple fighting and quirk moves. I began to take those basics and build on them, usually in the privacy of my own room. There would be days where I felt one with my quirk and days where I felt like my head was going to split into two from controlling myself not to go downstairs and hurt everyone I see.
The one thing that I never was able to get over was the black clouds that took him away, swirling inside of my dreams and suffocating me until I would wake up crying and sparking up with black electricity. I would call out to mom, forgetting she was no longer there, no matter how many years it has been.
Chapter 6: Villain Attack
Chapter Text
“So then why would he write about that if it didn’t mean anything?” I asked Midoriya. We were sitting in the classroom during lunch to try and catch up on schoolwork that's due tomorrow.
“Maybe he just wanted to be fancy with it?” He tried to defend his point.
“No, the teacher said he wanted it to mean something, I just can't figure out what it is…” I started absent mindedly twirling on a piece of hair that got in my face.
“Ughh, why is his work always so hard” Midoriya flopped down into his seat more, exasperated by the amount of literature homework we always get.
“Sometimes I think he’s just sadistic honestly” I giggled a little bit.
“I was meaning to ask you Y/N, are you free after school today? There’s a new tea place in town and I was wondering if you’d like to go with me?” he got quiet towards the end.
“I wish I could Midoriya, but I have plans after school with my brothers” they wanted to take me to a new arcade in town since they both finally had a day off in a while.
“Oh” he looked very defeated.
“Maybe sometime next week we can. I have Tuesday and Friday free if you’d want to go to it” he perked his head back up.
“Friday would be good!” he said with a very enthusiastic tone and he realized he was too loud, his face covering itself in a deep blush. I laughed at his reaction, promising him he was ok. I pulled out my phone and placed it in the calendar. So Friday is with Midoriya, then Saturday will be more training with Bakugou. As the entrance exam for U.A gets closer, he demands more and more training. He has improved a lot with his physical capabilities, but not much with his mental ones. Maybe I should cancel some of our sparring matches until he can make some mental changes?
The bell finally rang to signal the end of lunch. Our classmates slowly made their way back into the classroom, still conversing with each other. I saw Bakugou enter and made eye contact with him. He had a neutral expression on his face, but then he saw Midoriya and scowled. At least he’s not mad at my existence anymore, so we made progress there I guess. The teacher finally made her way into the classroom with a large stack of papers.
“Ok students settle down please” the teacher cued us. Students eventually made their way back into their seats, conversations dying down.
“Alright, so as we are getting towards the middle of the first semester, we must begin talking about your futures, specifically your high schools. I have made a list of all the schools you have…..” she began rambling on and on about the schools some of us have chosen and the perks of them, what courses are the best for what we are going into and all that fun stuff. I began zoning out, still trying to figure out what the author meant for the literature work.
“Oh Bakugou, it says here that you want to get into U.A” she mentioned the blond hero. We began going on a long rant about he’s the best and would get in even with the low acceptance score and how he’ll become the number one hero. I rolled my eyes, knowing he did no mental training or even tried to restrain himself on showing his pride.
“It also said Ito and Midoriya want to go to U.A as well?” the teacher continued.
“You can’t get into U.A without a quirk!” a person said, and more joined in on the tormenting.
“T-They removed that rule, now anyone can get in if they get a high enough score” Midoriya said, voice trembling with lack of confidence. I swear I heard Bakugou growl lowly at him. I’m going to have a word with him later.
-----------
The school bell finally rang to end the day. I got up quickly, excited to spend some time with Hayato and Satoshi. I usually walk to the train with Midoriya, but today I gave him a quick goodbye and ran off, trying to get to the train as soon as possible. I wish I had Hayato’s quirk, then I would be able to get there in under a minute.
I quickly scanned my card and moved through the turnstiles, barely making it onto the train before the doors closed. I was able to find a seat and sat down, pulling my headphones out of my backpack. I plugged them into my phone and turned on my playlist, finally relaxing into the seat waiting for my stop. It was about 5 minutes before I saw the familiar sites outside of the window across from me, knowing it was my queue to get up and leave. Once I got off the train, I made my way through the streets. It was starting to get towards the middle of spring, so the leaves were all coming back. I’m so excited summer is coming up, because then we will have a well deserved break before we go back and deal more with literature. I usually enjoy literature, but something about our teacher makes me hate it this year.
“I’m home!” I yelled out, entering the door and kicking off my shoes.
“Yo whats up” Hayato peered his head around the corner of the living room.
“Eh nothing much, school was boring today” I sunk into the couch, watching whatever they had on TV. It was some kind of J-drama, which was getting really sappy as the two love interests were getting close to each other to kiss.
“What time are we going to the arcade?” I asked them.
“Probably more around 6 since there’s a big crowd right now because school just let out,” Satoshi said, not drawing his attention away from the TV. We sat on the couch for a long time, just watching whatever came on the TV. I enjoyed moments like these, just peaceful moments I never thought would happen when I was younger. The peacefulness was soon cut short by an emergency broadcast. It showed a helicopter view of a villain attack about 5 blocks from here. Hayato looked outside the window and saw the helicopters and smoke.
“Do you think we should go help?” Hayato asked.
“From the looks of it, there's already 6 other heroes there,” Satoshi motioned to the broadcast. The camera zoomed in and gave us a better view of the scene. I noticed the villain was a giant sludge monster overtaking someone's body.
“Bakugou?” I asked out loud, getting closer to the screen. I was able to notice that quirk and blond hair from anywhere.
“You know that kid?” Satoshi asked me.
“Yeah he’s the kid I train with” my view never left the screen. I was holding my breath, knowing that his quirk is strong and not many heroes could get close to him without getting caught in his explosions.
“Wait who’s that running towards him?” Hayato now came up close next to me.
“STOP BLOCKING THE SCREEN!” Satoshi yelled, coming up behind us so now we are all close to the screen holding our breaths.
“Thats Midoriya” I pointed at the green haired boy running across the screen. He flung his backpack at the villain, temporarily stunning him. He then was grabbing absentmindedly at the sludge villain, trying to pull Bakugou out of the sludge.
“Come on” I whispered to myself, grabbing onto Hayato’s arm for comfort.
“Why are none of the heroes trying to get in close? Literally get a water hero in there and you can take out the fire and wash the sludge dude away” Hayato said exasperated.
“But look!” Satoshi called out. All of a sudden All Might appeared on the screen and punched the sludge villain while also pulling Bakugou and Midroyia to safety. The gusts of wind from One for All caused the feed to cut out. Since we were close to the fight, we felt the shock of the move and stumbled a little bit.
“Well… who’s still up for the arcade?” Hayato asked, and me and Satoshi gave him a deadpan look before getting our shoes on.
---------------------
“At least I was able to actually win something without cheating. You literally used your quirk on DDR!” Satoshi was arguing with Hayato over the games they went off to play. They like going after ticket games, while I prefer the claw machines. I didn’t win much, only a lilac bear and a bouncy ball I gave to Hayato.
“It’s not my fault you are slow”
“YOU’RE QUIRK IS LITERALLY SPEED HOW CAN ANYONE BE QUICKER THAN YOU?”
“Just be better my guy”
“WHAT” Satoshi looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel while Hayato was trying not to laugh his ass off. I pulled out my phone and took a picture of the site and sent it to them. Hayato took out his phone and started making fun of him even more.
“Look at your face!”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP” I swear Satoshi was about to kill him. They usually get like this, but it's so funny to see it from an outside perspective. I was about to join in on the banter before I heard my phone vibrate. It was Toshinori. I quickly excused myself and walked outside. The air still had a slight chill to it, but it was so much quieter out here than in there. I felt like I was about to get a headache. I pressed the answer button and placed the phone next to my ear.
“Hey Toshinori, what's up?”
“Do you know who Midoriya is?”
Chapter 7: One Weird Guy
Chapter Text
It was two weeks until the entrance exams and three weeks until the recommendation exams. The closer and closer it got, the more it stressed me out. I know for a fact it was stressing Bakugou out, especially since he’s been asking to train more. Almost every day he asks me, whether it is sparing or simply going to the gym. He has finally caught up to me in terms of sparing, and can now definitely hold his own in a fight without quirks. As for strength, he outmatches me when we aren’t using our quirks, but once we use them I outshine him by almost double his limit. This definitely gets him upset and he starts yelling at me, then proceeding to go off somewhere in the gym and doing strength exercises. We have decided not to use our quirks on each other, as his quirk creates a lot of noise and will make my quirk very strong, causing a big disadvantage. Though it was more towards me beating him multiple times in a row and he got sour about it. Even though we spent a lot of time together these past weeks, he still is the same as he was when we started out, always yelling and calling me weak when he would beat me in something. I would just roll my eyes and laugh, making him stomp away.
As for Midoriya, he still doesn’t know that I know he is getting One for All and is training will All Might. Toshinori asked me not to say anything to him until he gets accepted into U.A, which he believes that he will definitely get into. He did ask me to watch him from a distance, making sure that he is eating well and keeping up with his studies. Of course I agreed to take care of my friend. I am sad though that we have no time to hang out anymore since all Midoriya is doing is training. Though I have seen the physical effects of his training, as well as Bakugous. They have both been getting a lot more muscular.
I shook that idea out of my head, not wanting to see my training partner and my friend in that light. I was walking through the streets, trying to find a place to eat lunch since Hayato and Satoshi are not at home right now and the pantry has nothing appetizing in it. I decided to walk into a random grocery store, thinking I could get myself a quick meal from the back of the store. Walking through the aisles, I saw a few brightly colored drinks along them, stopping at my favorite brands.
“Hmm, mint, orange, lychee, or strawberry” I talked quietly to myself, thinking about what flavor I should get. I heard a shopping cart enter the aisle, but I paid no mind to it until I heard a familiar voice.
“Noisy?” I turned my head when I heard that nickname and saw a familiar blond, or actually two blonds. Did I get hit in the head? Why am I seeing two Bakugous?
“Hey?” I said as a question, slightly confused as to why he was talking to me in public. He barely even speaks to me in school when we sit almost right next to each other.
“Hmm, Katsuki, who is this?” the blond next to him asked.
“Nobody” he said, turning his attention to the wall of drinks.
“Dont be rude to her” she hit him in the middle of the chest and he looked like he was about to start yelling at her before she walked over to me.
“Hi dear, I'm Bakugous mother! I’m sorry about him, he doesn’t talk to girls much” she said with a smirk, and Bakugou looked like he was about to blow his lid straight off.
“Its ok” I was trying not to laugh at the scene unfolding in front of me.
“So how did you two meet?”
“We are classmates and then he wanted to become my training partner for the entrance exams”
“Oh you must be Ito!” her face lit up.
“You know me?” I was very confused.
“Of course! Katsuki would always come home grumbling how he lost to you. Good for you to put him in his place, his egos getting so big? She giggled.
“IT IS NOT” he yelled at her and she just laughed in his face. I laughed as they started bickering back and forth.
“Shut the hell up you old hag!”
“Is that any way to talk to your mother?!?” I just stood there, hoping to find a way to leave this awkward situation now that people began staring at us.
“Oh Ito sweetie, do you want to join us for dinner tonight? My husband is making yakitori tonight” she turned to me.
“Like hell you are inviting her to our house!”
“Do you pay the bills?!”
“I would be delighted to join,” I smiled. Bakugou slowly turned his head towards me, murder in his eyes. He has been refusing to work on his mental strength, so this is my revenge.
“Yay! It’s been so long since Katsuki had a friend over! Here’s the address and make it by 6 ok!” and with that she dragged him off down another aisle. Well… looks like I won’t be needing to spend money on dinner tonight. Instead I grabbed the orange drink and quickly checked out. I needed to go home and freshen up since I was still in baggy sweatpants and a random t-shirt. Nothing screams first impressions like looking like you just crawled out of bed.
------------
“Why do I care so much about what Bakugou’s family sees me in? His mom already saw me practically in my pajamas” I talked out loud to myself. Clothes are scattered all over my room as I try to put together an outfit that won’t make me lose my mind. Too small, too baggy, too itchy. Ugh I’m going to lose my mind at this rate. I checked the time and it was 5:25, so I had roughly 10 minutes to get my act together.
I decided just to throw on a pair of jeans and a basic black t-shirt. Taking a final look in the mirror, I looked like an NPC in a video game. Grabbing my wallet and house keys, I quickly texted my brothers I’ll be out for dinner and back before 8 and left the house. It was starting to get a lot colder as fall was coming around. I really should’ve brought a jacket, but it was too late. I finally made it to his house, and it was huge. Much larger than our apartment, but that’s what we get for trying to live under the radar. Walking up to the door, I already heard yelling inside. I was really hesitant to ring the doorbell, but someone was already opening the door.
“Hello Ms Ito” a brown haired man with a light mustache and glasses answered the door. The yelling was still going on in the background.
“Hello sir, thank you so much for having me” I bowed politely before taking my shoes off. I looked around the room and noticed photos of the Bakugou family. He was a lot smaller back then, and actually smiled. Like a real smile, not one he gets on his face in the middle of a sparing match when he is about to give you the nastiest right hook of all time. I’m so glad I have a healing quirk, or else I would’ve probably still been walking around with broken ribs.
“You have a very nice home sir” I told him.
“Thank you very much. My wife loves anything to do with design, whether it be fashion or home decor” he said proudly.
“How long have you two been married?”
“Since we were 21. I met her at my job since we both worked in the same fashion company. She was very adamant on us dating”
“Aww thats so cute” Curse me for being a hopeless romantic. I love sappy stuff.
“Anyways, let me show you to the kitchen, the food is already done. My wife is just working on some new kind of drink she saw online.” We began our walk into the kitchen where I saw Bakugou and his mom sitting at the table, arguing with each other again.
“Hi Ito, please sit sit” she motioned for me to sit down. The only seat that was open was right next to Bakugou, and I internally groaned. As I sat down, Bakugou scooched his chair away from mine. His mom kicked him from under the table and he rolled his eyes, returning his chair to the normal position.
“So Ito, you want to become a hero and go to U.A?” his mom began the conversation.
“Yeah, it's been my dream for a while”
“That's nice. Bakugou has already told us about your quirk, you’re going to be a really strong hero” his father said.
“Not as strong as me” Bakugou muttered into his food as he started eating.
“Are you excited for the entrance exams?” his mom asked me.
“I’m actually entering the recommendation exams”
“Through what hero?” his father leaned in closer.
“I was told to keep it a secret” I said. Toshinori doesn’t want people to know we are connected.
“Ooo~ that's really cool. I wonder if you both get in if you’d be in the same class” his mom wondered.
“I hope not,” Bakugou swallowed his food.
“And why's that? Because you know I would be the top student?” I turned to the blond.
“No, because you’re annoying that's why” Weird. Usually he would argue with me more. Probably just hungry.
“Katsuki be nice to her!” his mom yelled at him. He just kept on eating, not paying attention. I decided to eat as well as his parents started talking about new designs at their job. From the sound of it, these people are rich. They deal with all the high end models I see Satoshi watch on TV.
“Would you care for a house tour then Ito?” my attention was taken away from eating back up to his mom. I quickly checked the time on my phone and it said 6:30.
“Of course! But I have to leave around 7:30 to get back home to my brothers”
“Oh, do your parents work late?” his mom asked me.
“No uhh… my parents are dead” I partially lied. I’m not going to tell them my dad is a major villain on the first visit.
“O-Oh I’m sorry” the conversation was starting to turn awkward.
“It's ok, you didn’t know. They died when I was little so me and my brothers were raised by a family friend. Both my brothers have jobs now so it’s kind of just me at home most days. It’s been a while since I had a good home cooked meal” I don’t remember the last time it wasn’t some takeout food or frozen meal since my brothers enjoyed working at night and sleeping mostly during the day.
“Well if you ever want to come over again for a meal our doors are always open” his mom told me. I turned to Bakugou, expecting him to throw a fit about the idea of me coming over again, but he was just sitting there. He turned his gaze slightly towards me then back down at his plate. Seriously, what has gotten into him? Did I somehow offend him?
“But after you’re done eating, I’ll give you the tour ok” his mom smiled at me, and I shook my head yes. Just then, Bakugou got up and walked out of the room without saying anything. For some reason, I wanted to go after him to make sure he was ok, but his mom told me that this was normal and just him being him. Still, I felt like something was really wrong.
-----------------
“Thank you so much for having me again” I said as me and his parents stood around the door. It was 7:15 and they just finished showing me around their house. Its very nice and very big, his mom has a serious way with decorating it.
“Of course sweetie. Please make it back home save, its getting really dark out”
“Are you sure you don’t need me to walk you home?” his dad asked me.
“No thank you, I can make it home by myself but thank you again for the offer” they smiled at me, but their eyes still showed concern.
“BAKUGOU GET DOWN HERE AND SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR FRIEND!” his mom yelled upstairs.
“FUCK OFF I’M STUDYING” he yelled back down. She looked at her husband and just rolled her eyes.
“We are so sorry about him again. I’m surprised you were able to deal with him this much”
“He’s not that bad honestly. Once you get used to the yelling you kind of just zone him out” I giggled.
“Alright sweetie take care ok” his mom opened the door for me and I walked outside, waving goodbye to them as they closed the door. It was dark and cold out, and I began shaking as soon as I started walking. My phone was soon going to die, so instead of using the flashlight I lit up my quirk slightly and began walking, using myself as a giant flashlight. I was rounding the corner when I heard some banging coming from an alley way. One thing my brothers and horror movies have taught me is to not investigate the noise at night. I started walking quicker, until I heard footsteps running up behind me. I began sprinting, electricity bouncing off of my skin as I started panicking. This is not how I’m going to die!
A loud explosion happened really close behind me, nearly knocking me off my feet. I quickly turned around, placing a barrier of energy up between me and the explosion. The scene behind me was a man knocked unconscious on the ground and the angry blond standing over him, looking down at him.
“Bakugou?” I slowly took down the barrier and walked towards him. The unconscious man had no real injuries, just looked like he was sleeping.
“Why were you following me?” I asked him, now a few feet in front of him.
“You forgot your keys” he held out the familiar lanyard with all my keys and keychains on it. I facepalmed myself, feeling stupid for forgetting them.
“Thank you” I reached out, but he pulled them away before I was able to grab them.
“Who recommended you?” he asked me, holding the keys above his head so I wasn’t able to grab them.
“Like I said I can’t say” I told him firmly.
“Bullshit” he retorted back.
“I’m serious Bakugou. Why would I lie to you?” He looked at me for a second and then handed me my keys. Not with his usual roughness of shoving them into my chest, but instead actually handing them to me like a normal person.
“Thank you for bringing them to me, and for knocking this guy out” I motioned to the guy laying on the ground.
“Whatever. Don’t mention it to anyone. Especially not that damn nerd you always are with” he began walking away, not saying anything else. You are a weird guy Bakugou, a really weird guy.
Chapter 8: Recommendation Entrance Exam
Chapter Text
“Y/N! Get your ass up!” A pillow was launched into my face like a bullet. I opened my eyes groggly and looked up to see my brothers standing in my room.
“What do you guys want?” I placed the pillow back under my head, trying to get comfortable again.
“It's the recommendation exam day. Get up!” Satoshi began dragging me out of bed.
“Ughhhhh, let me sleep” I tried kicking him off of me.
“I will start tickling you if you don’t get up right now” Hayato’s threat made me jump up out of bed almost like a cartoon character.
“Get dressed, we are leaving in an hour”
“We?” I asked them.
“Yeah, is it a problem? We want to see our little sister off for her exam?”
“No, but-”
“We are heroes Y/N, we will be fine if we are all seen together. Plus no one has ever seen me and Hayato without a mask anyways so no one knows who we are” Satoshi reassured me. They both walked out of my room and closed the door, allowing me to change. I slowly got up, still wrapped inside of my blanket. The weather outside was so cold, I swear I was going to freeze to death on the walk there. I went through my drawers and pulled out some thermal wear and a pair of flared leggings, and for the top I decided on a baggy long sleeved shirt and a hoodie. I didn’t want to wear any makeup today, as it’ll most likely be sweated off, but I applied the tiniest amount of mascara to make me look somewhat alive.
I walked out of my room and saw both of my brothers lounging around in front of the TV watching the news. I still had time for breakfast, so I started running the coffeemaker and the toaster, hoping to make myself some butter and jelly bread. Once it was finished, I came over to the living room with my toast and coffee to join them watching TV.
“Are you ready for today?” Hayato asked me.
“Yeah, just more so worried about the cold weather” I looked outside and a slight fog was coming in.
“I’m happy about this weather. This summer was hot” Satoshi said, walking away into his room. The summer was mainly spent training with Bakugou outside, so I got the full front of the summer heat. I swear I lost 20 pounds just from sweating.
We sat around on the couch until it was roughly 7:30, then we realized we actually had to leave or else I would be late. As soon as we stepped out of the house, my nerves started getting the best of me and I began to overthink that I wasn’t going to be good enough to pass the exam. I didn’t notice the tiny black sparks on my arm, but Satoshi did.
“Hey relax, you’re going to do great”
“Mom is going to be proud of you no matter what” Hayato said, rubbing my back to comfort me. I took a few deep breaths and tried to relax before the train pulled into the station. We took our seats and I placed in my headphones, listening to some relaxing music for the 15 minutes before our stop. Satoshi was scrolling on random social media websites and Hayato was playing a puzzle game on his phone. I slowly sank into my seat, feeling calm between my brothers.
The train eventually began to slow down at our stop and we got out. This part of Musutafu was a lot busier than the part we lived in. So many people were swarming around us, barely looking at where they were going. I clung onto Hayato as we made our way through the crowds before finally making it to the gates of U.A. The giant glass H shaped building stood in front of us, and I saw a few people walking into it.
“You ok Y/N? You look like you are about to piss yourself” I turned around and scowled at Hayato.
“No, I’m just nervous,” I said.
“Relax, if me and stabby over here got through the exams, so can you. I heard the recommended ones are a lot easier since the heroes are already looking at you” Hayato made fun of Satoshi's quirk and he hit him in the chest jokingly.
“Ok now go, you need to get in there and show them who’s in charge” Satoshi said. I was about to turn and walk away but stopped myself. I ran up and gave both of them a big hug, whispering thank you to them before walking away.
As soon as I got through the doors, I was directed to one side of the building where all the girls would be tested together. As soon as I walked in, I saw 5 other girls all talking and stretching. I took a place in the corner of the room and began stretching myself, allowing myself to feel the burning along the muscles. I was focusing on stretching out my back when I heard someone walk over to me.
“Hey!” I looked up and saw a dark green haired girl looking back down at me.
“Hi” I smiled up at her.
“I’m Tokage, what's your name?” she asked me.
“I’m Ito, it's a pleasure to meet you” I stood up to talk to her properly.
“Are you excited! I can hardly contain myself!” she looked so happy to be here. It was very cute.
“Yeah, I’m just worried I won’t be able to keep up with all of you” I smiled sheepishly.
“Oh come on! You got recommended to be here, that means you at least have something” she was trying to reassure me.
“Thank you Tokage. What’s your quirk?”
“It's called ‘lizard tail splitter’. I can remove and control any part of my body telekinetically" her hand came off and began floating around me.
“Woah thats so cool!” I gave her floating hand a high five before it returned to its normal position on her arm.
“So whats yours?”
“Its called sound power and I can turn sound into energy I can control” I made my hand light up like I was holding the sun. If I wasn’t wearing long sleeves, she would’ve seen my veins light up as well as the small sparks come off of my skin.
“Damn thats cool! Much more versatile than mine”
“You can literally punch people from across the room that's cool as fuck” I told her. She laughed loudly at my comment. We were talking more and more until a tall black haired girl came over to introduce herself.
“Hello, I am Yaoyorozu. It is a pleasure to meet both of you” she said very formally. She looked really put together, not a single hair out of place.
“Hello, I'm Tokage and this is Ito” the green haired girl introduced us.
“It’s nice to meet you too” I said.
“Do you mind telling me about your quirks? I would like to know more about my potential future classmates.” This girl speaks very formally. I wonder who recommended her? Probably some really fancy hero. We both explained our quirks to her, giving her a small demonstration.
“And whats yours?” I asked.
“Mine is creation. I can turn my fat into anything non-organic as long as I know how to make it” a metal staff appeared out of her arm and she held it out to us before twirling it around.
“Waa! Thats so cool!” Tokage was so excited at the twirling.
“LADIES!” We turned our attention to a voice entering the room. At the door, there stood Midnight, the R-Rated hero. She cracked her whip at us, silencing everyone down.
“Are you ready?” she smirked at us and I gulped, not ready for what was going to come next.
--------------
The first exam was a written exam. It was simple literature, math, history, basically everything you learned already in school. I was able to go through it quickly, thanks to all the studying I did with Midoriya. Then it was the interviews. I sat in a room, waiting for my interviewer to come in. I heard the door creak open and in came a yellow haired man with glasses on.
“HEY HEY” he yelled loudly. I felt my quirk flare up but die down quickly.
“Hey!” I said back but not with as much enthusiasm. He slid into the chair across from me and pulled out a paper.
“So you’re Ito Y/N correct?”
“Yes sir”
“So, why U.A?” he asked me, leaning forwards in the seat.
“Because both of my brothers went here a few years ago and they enjoyed it so much they wanted me to come here as well?”
“Ahh the Ito twins, I remember them. So do you have Speed of Sound or Sound Arms?” the man asked me if I had Hayato or Satoshi's quirk.
“Actually I have neither of their quirks”
“OO! Interesting change of events!” He was a very very loud man.
“Why’s that?”
“No reason~ So why do you want to become a hero?” He deflected the question. Weird.
“I want to protect people from villains….”
“...And?”
“.... I mainly want to protect children from villains”
“Why just children?”
“I was attacked by a villain when I was a child, so I know what it does to them and how it mentally ruins them”
“Hmmm” he began to write something down on the paper.
“Who is your biggest inspiration?”
“Soundwave” I answered with mom’s hero name
“Really? The public hasn’t seen her recently, surprised she still has fans” I forgot. Since mom and Soundwave were two different people, when mom died people just thought Soundwave went M.I.A, leading to Endeavour becoming the number 2 hero. If only they knew the truth.
“Yeah” I laughed nervously, trying not to make it awkward.
“Well, that’s pretty much it!” He stood up quickly. How does he have this much energy at 10 in the morning? I hate morning people. I was about to ask him where to go for the practical, but he ran out of the room quickly. He better not be my teacher, he’s on crack or something.
I was sitting there for about 5 minutes just zoning out since I left my phone in my bag before Midnight walked back into the room, telling me to follow her.
“So how are you doing so far Ito?” she asked as we walked down the hallway together.
“I think I’m doing decent. I’m very confused about the interview I just had though”
“Ah yes, Present Mic likes to throw people off my playing certain characters. Whatever keeps him going I guess” she laughed. We eventually made it outside to a large clearing. I stood in line with the other girls right next to Yaoyorozu. I gave her a small smile and she returned it.
“Ok girls this is how it is going to go down!” she cracked her whip excitedly.
“You have 20 minutes to get through this three kilometer course. It’s basic obstacles; climbing, jumping, running, swinging, you know? You can use your quirks however you see fit to do it, but no injuring your competition or else you are CUT!” she cracked her whip for effect. We all stood in line, ready to race. I listened around me, hearing the guys on the other side going through their race. The sounds began to rush through me, and I felt the energy in my body expanding.
“Ready!” Breath in.
“Set!” Breath out.
“GO!”
The energy came rushing out of my body as I exploded out of the starting line. I was using my quirk to move the wind around me, propelling me forward. The first obstacle came up, and it was a giant wall to climb. I made a giant energy tentacle and grabbed the top of the wall, flinging myself up into the air to then move the air again, I was basically flying. There was then a giant cavern that I also flew over. Why is this course so easy? I was literally flying through it. I saw the finish line coming up so I stopped using my quirk and continued running. I crossed the finish line and heard a little robot voice call out 8 minutes and 32 seconds.
“Very good Ito!” Midnight called out to me. I barely was breaking a sweat, I was sweating more from the thick hoodie I had on. I looked behind me and saw the other girls were now passing the middle of the course. I sat down on the ground, waiting for them to all cross the finish line. Yayorozou came in 2nd and Tokage came in 3rd, which solidified their spots of getting in. I cheered as they crossed, getting up to give them high fives.
“Good job guys!” I told them.
“You were insane Ito! When you used your quirk at the beginning you literally knocked all of us over! You’re so strong!” Togake jumped up and down. I did not realize I knocked the other girls over, causing them to have a faulty start. I feel really bad, but there's nothing I can do about it now.
“It was really fun!” Yayorozou smiled at us.
“We should exchange numbers in case we all get in!” Togake suggested. We all agreed and as soon as we got back into the original room we pulled out our phones and exchanged numbers.
Y/N: Hey guys it’s me
Yayorozou: Hey!
Tokage: HII!!
-----------------------
It was finally time for the results to come back for both the regular and recommendation exams. Midoriya has been freaking out texting me all day on how nervous he was with the results. I tried to call to calm him down but it didn’t help in the slightest. Togake and Yayorozou feel very confident that they got in. I tried asking Bakugou if he was excited, but I never received a response.
“Y/N mails here!” Hayato called out to me. I ran out of my room and pulled the letter out of his hand, giving him a papercut that showed up for a minute before disappearing. Thank you healing quirks.
“Do you need space or do you want us to be here for it?” Satoshi asked me.
“Can you guys be here, please” I said quietly, hands shaking.
“Of course” Hayato said and we all sat down around the table. I opened the letter slowly and out came a disk. I pressed the button on top and up popped a hologram with Toshinori on it in his All Might form.
“Hello Young Ito!” It's so weird hearing him say my fake last name rather than my first name.
“I am here to congratulate you on our recommendation entrance exams! While you have scored average on the interview and the written exam, you blew us away with your practical exam by finishing it in almost record time! Ito Y/N, I would like to welcome you to Class 1-A! Your mother would be proud of you” he said the last part quietly before the hologram disappeared.
“I got in,” I said, shocked.
“You got in,” Hayato said.
“YOU GOT IN!” Satoshi yelled, pulling me out of my chair and spinning me around. Hayato got in as well and we all started jumping up and down, yelling loudly that the neighbors started yelling at us to quiet down.
“I’m going to hang this up!” Satoshi took the letter out of the envelope that came with the disk and hung it up on the fridge.
Chapter 9: U.A Here I Come!
Chapter Text
I stood in front of the mirror, holding the photo of Toshinori and mom when they were in high school. I looked just like her, the only thing different was the uniforms. My hair was pulled back, showing off all the details on my face, My eyes, cheeks, nose, lips, everything was my moms. I’m so glad I never had to see my father when I looked at myself. The U.A uniform fit me nicely, the green skirt and white button up complemented each other nicely.
“Satoshi, can you help me with my tie?” I called out to my brother. He came walking into the room, one earbud in and the other dangling around his other ear.
“Are you nervous?” he asked, focusing on doing my tie.
“Not really, at least I know three people in my class already” I know that once Bakugou sees Midoriya he’s going to lose his shit. I’m also excited to see Momo, we hung out a few times between the exam and now, so I would say we are friends. I haven’t seen Setsuna in a while, but we have been talking on the phone a lot. She's sadly in 1-B though.
“There we go, now put on your coat and let me take a photo” he pulled out his phone and positioned himself to take different angles. I began giving him different poses, some serious ones and some goofy ones. Hayato came in because we started laughing.
“Are you ok?” he stifled a laugh as I did another funny pose.
“Not in the slightest- OH! We should take a selfie together!” I grabbed my phone and we all got in close, taking a bunch of different ones with different faces.
“Ok ok enough! I seriously have to get going” I pushed them off of me slightly.
“Do you have your notebooks?”
“Yes”
“Lunch money?”
“Yesss”
“Pads and tampons?”
“Not that time of month” I said, putting my shoes on and grabbing my bookbag and water bottle. It was covered in a bunch of different stickers from all the places Hayato and Satoshi went to.
“Y/N” I stopped my rushing around and looked at my brothers standing there watching me.
“Yeah?”
“We love you,” Hayato said, and Satoshi smiled at me. It was a warm smile, like the one he gave me after I failed my first test, or when I scraped my knees, or when a boy broke my heart in elementary school. It was comforting. It took me off guard, I don’t remember the last time they said that they loved me.
“I love you too” I told them after the initial shock. I remembered to grab my keys and walked out the door. Walking to the train station, I heard people whispering along the way about my uniform. The U.A uniform is highly known around here, especially since it's one of the largest hero schools in Japan. People were waving and telling me good luck as I stood on the train platform.
I sat on the train, pulling out my phone and began texting Momo when someone sat besides me. I saw a familiar green colored pants out of the corner of my vision. I looked up and saw… Bakugou?
“Hey?” I said confused.
“....” he didn’t talk to me, only sitting there in silence.
“Are you excited for today?”
“...” WHY WOULD YOU SIT NEXT TO ME IF YOU DIDN’T WANT TO CONVERSE?? I let out a silent huff and put my earbuds in, turning on some music to try and calm myself down. As we got closer to the station, more and more people were getting off. I was about to get up to move to a different spot but the train started before I had my balance, causing me to fall backwards into the seat again. I felt my head hit something soft, and looked over and saw Bakugou placing his hand out to make sure the back of my head didn’t hit the window.
“Thank you” I said ashamed that I lost my balance that easily.
“Whatever idiot” He looked at me barely, focusing on whatever was on his phone. I put my earbuds back in and sat in silence, deciding not to embarrass myself anymore. The station finally came and we stood up. He got off the train quickly and I lost sight of him. Eh, I’ll see him in class.
As I got closer and closer to the building, I turned my music up louder to drown out the noises of the conversations around me. I was daydreaming a little too much and bumped into the back of someone, knocking my earbuds out of my ears.
“Oh shit I’m sorry” I said, pushing myself to stand up.
“It’s ok!” I looked to see who I ran into. It was a guy with bright red hair and a small scar over his eye.
“Still I’m sorry. I should’ve seen where I was going”
“It’s alright, my quirk allows me to harden so it’s not like your little bump hurt me” he laughed.
“Thats good to know. What class are you in?” I asked.
“Class 1-A, how about you?”
“Same!” I said excitedly, knowing another person in my class.
“Really! Thats so cool! I’m Kirishima by the way”
“I’m Ito, but you can call me Y/N”
“First names already! So manly!” he whispered the last part to himself.
“What does ‘manly’ mean?” I asked him.
“Oh shoot you weren’t supposed to hear that! It means like cool and stuff. I got it from my favorite hero Crimson Riot because he’s so manly!”
“He is very manly” I agreed, slightly laughing.
“Well come on! Let’s walk to class together!” he smiled with sharp teeth, must be from his hardening quirk. We began walking through the halls, seeing all the quirks people have. I saw a familiar black haired girl and ran up to her.
“Momo!” I called out. She turned around and smiled at me.
“Y/N! I’m so happy we are in the same class together!” she said with an air of grace around her.
“Me too! I also met another person in our class. This is Kirishima” I pointed to the red-haired boy next to me.
“Hi I’m Yayorozou” she said, holding her hand out to shake his.
“Hey hey!” he shook her hand firmly.
“Come on guys! Let's get to class!” We eventually made it to a large door labeled 1-A. THe door had to be at least 10 feet tall.
“Do you think they ever had a student who couldn’t fit through these doors?” I asked out loud.
“Probably not… hopefully not,” Kirishima said. Momo reached and opened up the door. Inside was a few of the other students. I saw Bakugou on the other side of the room and gave him very brief eye contact before a pair of floating clothes came up to me.
“Hi! I’m Hagakure! I’m so excited to be classmates this year!” I felt something grab me and hold my hands. I’m presuming it was her hands.
“Hi I’m Ito, but please call me Y/N” I smiled at her.
“And who are you?” her clothes turned towards Momo.
“I’m Yayorozou,” the black hair girled smiled at the invisible girl.
“Here come with me!” she pulled us towards the group of girls in the back of the class.
“Guys! This is Y/N and Yayorozou!” Hagakure introduced us to the group.
“Hi I’m Uraraka!” a brown haired girl with rosy cheeks said bubbly.
“I’m Tsu” a green haired girl with big eyes spoke up.
“I’M MINA!” a pink girl said very loudly, causing my quirk to flare up. The veins in my hands sparked up, but luckily no one caught it.
“I’m Jiro” a purple haired girl said, a smooth tone in her voice.
“It’s so nice to have other girls in the class, I thought it was just going to be the four of us,” Uraraka confessed.
“Get your feet off that desk! You are disrespecting the former heroes that used to sit there” we turned our attention to a blue haired boy yelling at Bakugou.
“Oh yeah, what middle school put a stick up your ass?” he snarked back.
“I have come from the Academy of- YOU!” The blue haired boy quickly turned his attention towards someone who just entered the room. I looked and saw Midoriya enter the room. He immediately started getting questioned by the blue haired guy, then Uraraka made her way over to him.
“Hey Deku!” she said to him. Midoriya’s face lit up a bright shade of red. Oh~ At least he has taste, Uraraka is a very gorgeous girl. I turned my attention towards Bakugou, silently fuming in his seat as his gaze never left the green haired boy. He may honestly kill him, who knows the day is young.
“Silence” a deep voice rang through the room. Conversations began to die down as we saw a man emerge from a yellow sleeping bag.
“It took you 14 seconds to quiet down. If you want to be heroes, this will not slide” he pulled a juice bag out of nowhere and started drinking from it.
“Get your gym uniforms on and meet me out on the field. 10 minutes.” and with that he slid back into his yellow sleeping bag.
----------------------
“Last place will be expelled,” Aizawa told us, explaining the rules of our preliminary testing. I could feel the air thicken up with stress.
“Bakugou, you were number one in the entrance exams. How far can you throw without your quirk”
“67 meters” the blond caught the ball that was thrown to him.
“You are now starting to become heroes. Time for you to start working on your quirks and finally strengthening them. Use your quirk to throw this ball” Aizawa pulled out a clipboard and pen, ready to write down the results. Bakugou stretched his arm out slightly before throwing.
“DIEEEEE!” he yelled with an explosion, sending the ball flying. My quirk triggered, and my veins lit up with small sparks. A small robotic voice yelled out 705.2 meters.
“Time for all of you to use your quirks” Aizawa said flatly. The first test was a simple grip strength test. I created an energy tentacle and wrapped it around the machine, pulling the grip part tight until the machine broke.
“Woah Y/N! That was super manly!” Kirishima came over to me.
“I wasn’t expecting to break it” my face turned red in embarrassment.
“I got 190 kg, not my best but it’s still alot”
“We should work out together sometime” I told him. His face lit up and he agreed eagerly. The next test was side-to-side jumping. Everyone was scoring low on these except for one purple haired dude who used the balls from his hair to bounce side to side. When it was my turn, I created small barriers and had them push me back with a slight amount of air. I was going fast, but I really wasn’t expecting my score to be over 200 jumps in under 30 seconds. Next was the dash. I was placed right next to Uraraka and smiled at her.
“Good luck!”
“You too!” We heard the countdown start and I felt the energy coursing through my body. As soon as it said go I blasted forwards and used the wind to push me forwards even more. The robot read out 3.9 seconds. Wow, is this what Hayato feels like when he runs? I looked behind me and saw Uraraka coming in at 13.9 seconds. I also saw a large divot from where I blasted off from.
“Did I knock you over?” I asked her.
“Yeah but its ok! I got back up quick enough!” Uraraka smiled at me, a slight scuff on her arm from falling. I wish I was able to heal other people, but sadly I can only do that myself.
The final one was the ball throw. So far Uraraka’s was the farthest since she made it fly into space. Momo somehow made a cannon and shot hers off. Not many people where able to make it beyond 200 meters though.
“Ito you're up” I made my way towards the pitch and caught the ball Aizawa threw towards me. I saw the girls in the class all giving me a thumbs up and I gave one back to them. Focusing on the sounds around me, I felt energy coursing through my veins. I wanted to throw it far, farther than Bakugous by a long shot. I kept having more and more energy flow through me until I opened my eyes, large sparks bouncing off my skin and light shining from my veins, but not how it looked normally. It looked like it was literally pumping through my veins. Pulling my arm back, I threw the ball forward, releasing all the energy inside of my body and having the wind push it further and further until I couldn’t see it anymore. Only then did I release my quirk.
“9431 meters” Aizawa called out my score.
“Wooo Y/N!” I heard Hagakure yell from the line. I threw over 9 kilometers, holy shit.
“That was so far!” Uraraka said as I walked my way back over to them.
“You lit up like the sun!” I looked and saw a blond haired boy with a black lightning bolt in his hair.
“Thank you!” I smiled at him.
“A goddess just smiled at me, I can die in peace” he dramatically clutched his chest and I rolled my eyes playfully.
“Finally. Midoriya” Aizawa called the final person up to the line. Good, now I can finally see how he’s doing with One for All. He still has no idea I know he has it. I’ll tell him eventually, just not today. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Toshinori standing around the corner of a building in his normal form. Real slick my guy.
I returned my attention back to Midoriya as he pulled his arm back. I saw his arm spark up with power before it went away quickly. The ball landed at about 43 meters.
“W-What happened?” Midoriya asked confused.
“I erased your quirk” Aizawa said, maintaining eye contact with him. Oh this is Eraserhead, I remember his page in Midoriya's quirk. Aizawa began going on a rant about how he hated the new entrance exam and how he wouldn’t have accepted Midoriya if it was up to him. Ouch. Luckily, he gave Midoriya one last chance, and he took it. His finger sparked up instead of his arm, and the ball went flying. He was able to score 706 meters, only slightly more than Bakugou.
“What the hell! You damn nerd hiding your quirk from-” Bakugou was walking out to attack Midoriya before Aizawa caught him in his scarf, neutralizing him. Once Bakugou slightly calmed down, Aizawa took us over to the score board. I was able to place 1st, but I think it’s mainly because of my throw and the side-to-side.
“Good job Y/N” Tsu came up to me, looking for her score on the board. I looked to see who was in last place, and it was Midoriya. Oh no! He’s going to get expelled!
“By the way I was lying about the expulsion thing” Aizawa said coldly. The class started grumpling and complaining.
“It was very obvious that he was doing it for us to give it our all” Momo said matter of factly.
“I thought he was serious,” I told her, knowing that he has expelled classes in the past. He almost expelled my brothers when he had them in their second year. I just hope he doesn’t recognize me.
“Homeroom is dismissed. Get changed and report back to class” Aizawa pulled back out his sleeping back. Where is he hiding it??
Chapter 10: Battle Trials
Chapter Text
“I am… COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!” I heard a very familiar voice burst into the classroom. Toshinori entered in his All Might form inside of his Golden Era suit. I haven't seen him wear that in years.
“WOAH! NO WAY WE ARE BEING TAUGHT BY ALL MIGHT!” Kaminari said. I have finally learned everybodies name in class.
“Yeah dude it was in our schedule” Sero said dryly.
“The costume makes the man… or woman! Please get suited up and head on down to Gound Beta for our first hero lesson!” Toshinori pressed a button and the wall on the side of the classroom opened, relieving suitcases with our class numbers on them. I took my time, allowing everyone to grab there’s before I went and got mine. I noticed all that was left was me and Toshinori inside of the classroom.
“Are you doing ok Y/N? Enjoying classes so far” Toshinori put on the caring parent voice.
“Yeah, just a little worried about Midoriya. If he’s unable to control One for All he’s going to lose his arm”
“Yeah I saw that today. He needs a lot more training. Luckily I know someone who can help, it just needs time”
“Whatever you saw. I’m going to get dressed” I patted the suitcase and left the room. I barely made it 10 meters outside the room before I felt myself get slammed into the wall.
“Did you know?” the person said lowly. I looked up and saw Bakugou glaring down at me.
“Know what?”
“Dont play fucking stupid with me. You knew Deku had a quirk” he spat in my face.
“How the hell was I supposed to know he had one! All my time has been spent with you training. I barely had time to talk to him!” I gave him half the truth.
“You better not be fucking around with me” he got in closer.
“Why would I do that, now back up. You’re too close” I placed my hands, pushing him back from me. He made a ‘tsh’ sound and walked towards the men's changing room. I walked the other way and joined the girls inside.
“You ok Y/N? You took a while” Momo questioned me as she was zipping up her suit.
“Yeah, I was just asking All Might some questions. I’m a really big fan of his so I was fan girling out a little bit” I lied to them. I hated lying but I couldn’t tell them the truth. Not yet.
“Aww that's cute Y/N!” Mina said to me, clasping her hands together. I noticed the girls were almost all done getting changed, so I quickly threw on mine. It was a black one piece with padded elbows and knees. I also was wearing tall white boots and small thigh straps for knives to throw. I can make anything a real good projectile with my quirk. I also hand on black gloves that connected to a small part of my suit. That small part allowed me to turn on and off the major function. My suit is able to absorb the energy that bounces off of me in sparks when I use my quirk and store it so when something hits me, it's able to bounce back with the same amount of force. I got the idea off of my brothers, who got the idea off of an old movie called Black Panther. The final piece was a half face mask that covered my mouth and nose. It hid my identity well enough to where people wouldn’t be able to recognize me. Pulling my hair back, I took a look in the mirror satisfied.
“You look like a ninja” Tsu came up beside me in her bright green suit.
“I just wanted a suit that could blend in better, I don’t like being flashy” Hayato on the other hand loves being flashy, hence why his suit is a bright blue color so when he runs fast you can see his trail.
“Come onnn let’s gooo!” I felt Mina begin to drag me out of the changing room. Ground Beta was set up like a miniature city, it was really impressive. Where do they get this funding though? We joined up with the rest of the class and began conversing with each other.
“Hey Y/N! You look really good” Kirishima came up and complimented me.
“Aw thank you! You look really good as well” I focused so hard on remaining eye contact with him. It’s not my fault he’s built like a Greek god.
“Yeah you do” I heard a voice from behind me. I looked down and saw the small purple hair guy drooling while looking at my butt.
“Ew fucking pervert” I said to him, walking away. He continued behind me, making more comments on how my butt jiggled when I walked. I had enough and used my quirk on him, energy tentacles forming around him and lifting him up into the air.
“If I hear you make one more comment about my body I am going to throw you off a building do you understand me” I spoke, voice dripping in venom.
“Y-Yes!” he squeaked at me.
“Good, now leave me alone” I dropped him down harshly and stopped using my quirk. I looked down at my suit and noticed that it started absorbing the extra electricity, making the two vertical lines running from my shoulders to my legs light up white.
“ARE YOU READY TO FIGHT!” Toshinori came flying down from the sky, landing in a superhero pose before standing back up violently.
“YES!” we yelled back at him with the same energy.
“Todays lesson will be simple, you will be divided up into teams of heroes and villains. The villains will be protecting the ‘bomb’ from the heroes and the heroes will be trying to retrieve it. The villains can win by not allowing the heroes to capture the ‘bomb’, and the heroes can win by either capturing the ‘bomb’ or using these quirk knulling handcuffs to capture both the villains. Any questions?” Toshinori explained.
“YES!” he called on Iida who raised his hand.
“We have an uneven number, who’s going to be a team of three?” he asked. Toshinori thought for a second before pointing at me.
“Young Ito, you don’t mind being in a group of three, correct?”
“No sir”
“PERFECT! Everyone grab a ball out of this tin and find your partner. Then I will place Young Ito with whatever team I deem fit” Everyone moved to the tin to grab their letter partner. Before long, everyone was in a group of two.
“Young Iida, since you brought it to my attention, Young Ito will be joining your group” Great, I'm stuck with Bakugou. At least I’m not fighting him this time. Toshinori then told us which teams were villains, which were heroes, and who’s going against who. We were the villains going against Mirodiya and Uraraka.
“No hard feelings ok?” I asked the brown haired girl.
“Give me your all ‘villain’” she giggled at me before running off to create a plan with Midoriya.
“So, what’s the idea” I walked to the other two guys.
“Stay out of my way, I’m doing after Deku” Bakugou stated before walking away himself. I just sighed and turned towards Iida.
“Ignore him. Childhood rivalry” I explained briefly.
“Ah, I take it you know the two of them well”
“Kind of? I was only in their middle school last year. I know Midoriya a lot more than I know Bakugou even though me and him trained a lot together”
“Midoriya’s quirk is strong, but luckily Bakugou will be the main man against him. We just need to worry about Uraraka” Iida began thinking about plans in his head.
“What if I go after Uraraka and you stay to guard the bomb? Would that work best with you?”
“That would work wonderfully! Now we just need to find a place to put it” We began walking through the building, trying to find the perfect room for it. There was a room in the corner of the 5th floor with very limited access, perfect for the bomb.
“Now I must work on my villain laugh.. MWUAHAHAH!” Iida tried getting into the role of a villain.
“Oo I should get into the role too.. MWUAHAHAH” I joined in on his evil laughing. The bell sounded to let us know the heroes were inside of the building. I said my goodbye to Iida and began my prowl for Uraraka. I heard explosions and yelling, letting me know that Bakugou has found them. Footsteps began to climb up the stairs and I hid around the corner. As soon as I saw the pink and black suit, I threw out a punch of energy, knocking her clean into the wall. It cracked from the impact of her hitting it.
“Hello Uraraka” I said coldly, getting into the role of the villain.
“I-I’m here to stop you villain!” she got back up, groaning in pain.
“Oh are you now” I smirked, energy tentacles forming around me.
“You dont scare me!” she said, voice slightly shaking.
“You and that boy will be no longer once we are done with you” I began walking towards her until I saw familiar black lines appear on the energy tentacles.
“DO IT” a voice said in my head, causing me to lose focus. Uraraka took this as a chance to attack. I quickly turned off my quirk and dodged, deciding hand to hand combat would be safer.
“WHY ARE YOU HIDING?” the voice rang out again, pulling at me to use my quirk. Uraraka tried using the handcuffs on me, but I swung her off.
“Shut up” I said out loud to the voices. Uraraka gave me a very confused look before trying to kick me, she got me good in the hip. The familiar warmth of my healing quirk spread to that area, and it felt like she never got me. Why didn't my suit counteract the hit?
“JUST LET ME GET A TASTE! JUST ONE!”
“SHUT UP!” I yelled now, trying to quiet the voices in my head. I felt like my head was going to split into two from the pounding. My quirk wanted to lash out and hurt her, and I was trying so hard to keep it together.
“GET AWAY FROM ME!” I warned her, pulling at my hair. I heard her start to run away and I looked up. She was long gone. I finally released my quirk, allowing the black energy to swarm out of my body before passing out. Trying to hold my quirk in does more damage to me than if I let it go. The warmth of the dark was nice. It was quiet, I didn’t have to worry about losing control anymore. It was all taken away from me when I woke up to Iida standing over my body.
“ITO ARE YOU OK?” He asked loudly.
“H-huh? Did we win?” I asked.
“No we didn’t, but we put up a good fight. Do you need help standing up?” he reached out his hand for me to stand up with. I gladly accepted it, pulling myself up and slightly stumbling.
“Do you need me to carry you to Recovery Girl? You look very pale” he said with concern.
“No no it's ok it's just drawbacks from my quirk but thank you” I gave him a smile and he returned it. We walked our way back to the underground area where the rest of the class watched our fight.
“Are you ok Y/N?” Uraraka came up to me quickly.
“Yeah sorry, my quirk was having some drawbacks and I didn’t want to hurt you” I rubbed my neck sheepishly.
“You’re still really strong without your quirk! I feel like I need to lie down for a week after that fight” she joked, trying to lighten my spirits.
“Where’s Bakugou and Midoriya?” I asked.
“Midoriya is at Recovery Girl, he almost blew his arm clean off. Bakugou’s also being patched up, but he’ll be back soon” she said to me.
“Alright class! Who was the MVP of that match?” All Might asked the class. There were a few mixed answers, a lot being Midoriya. He must’ve fought good then.
“Iida” Momo said, and All Might asked her to explain.
“Midoriya was very reckless and Bakugou let his rage take control of him. Uraraka put up a good fight, but she wasn’t taking the situation seriously enough. Iida;s team may have lost, but he still thought through everything and even was trying to counter Uraraka’s final move” Momo explained.
“And what about Young Ito?”
“She was good, but she didn’t play a big enough part as her quirk started backfiring on her” I really need to get myself together. This is why I don’t like fights, it causes my quirk to lash out more and want to hurt people. That's why during the entrance exam I was able to use more of my quirk without the drawbacks since I wasn’t fighting anyone. But since I used my quirk earlier today as well as in a fight, it hit me hard.
“Very good Young Yayorozou” she smiled at All Might compliment. I took a spot along the wall to sit and relax as I watched the other fights happen. One guy literally froze an entire building. Now that's a cool quirk! I think his name is Todoroki if I remember correctly. Some people tried to compliment him when he came back, but he gave them all the cold shoulder. I laughed to myself for thinking of that pun. If I want to keep up with how some of these people can control their quirks, I need to put in some serious training.
Chapter 11: Sound the Alarm
Chapter Text
“SHUT UP” I threw a chair into the wall of the training room. It shattered with a loud crack, sending pieces everywhere. Black sparks bounced all over the room as I forced myself to overuse my quirk. I needed to get stronger, my mental state was slipping.
“Do it again” I heard Hayato say over the intercom. Toshinori gave us special permission to use some of the training rooms on campus after hours to practice controlling my quirk so I didn’t hurt other students.
I stood back up, head pounding with voices to leave the room and hurt anyone in my path. I pushed through it and hit another target, slicing it into two. I felt like I was going to throw up everything inside of me. My forehead was covered in sweat and my muscles ached, but Hayato told be to keep going.
“You’re not going to get any stronger if you let the voices win. Use them to your advantage”
“HOW?” I yelled out, barely able to hear my own voice.
“Focus the violence towards the object. Control your thoughts, you need to have control over yourself” Satoshi’s voice came through. I looked towards the target in front of me and breathed.
“WHY SHOULD WE LISTEN TO YOU”
“You are in my head, you aren’t real” I kept telling myself. I will not harm anyone I care about. I will not be like him.
“BUT YOU ARE LIKE HIM”
“No I’m not”
“WHAT HERO HAS THESE THOUGHTS?”
“Heroes have weaknesses” I kept reassuring myself, trying to focus on attacking the target.
“DO YOU REALLY THINK ONCE THEY FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE, THEY WON’T TURN AGAINST YOU? TREAT YOU LIKE A VILLAIN? JUST HURT EVERYONE, SHOW THEM WHAT TRUE POWER IS!”
“I WILL NOT” I yelled out, quirk lashing out. My head continued buzzing and blood started dripping out of my nose from trying to control my quirk. I looked up and saw that my quirk only attacked the target and nothing else. At least I was able to pinpoint my quirk. I saw my brothers in the booth look down at me and cheer, knowing I made some progress today. Sadly, I didn’t see it for too long as my vision went blurry and dark.
--------------------------
“So that is how Edo period Japanese art inspired modern art. Any questions?” Midnight asked us, teaching her section of art history. The class felt like it was drawing on for a long time, but it has only been half an hour. My stomach was starting to hurt as it was right before lunch. The rest of my body also hurt from yesterday's training since while my healing quirk works really fast, it still takes a lot of energy. I felt so tired waking up today and all I want to do is go home and eat. When I entered the classroom today, Momo asked me if I was sick from the dark circles under my eyes.
The class remained quiet, writing down notes about everything Midnight threw out at them. I felt my vision starting to blur a little bit, almost starting to close my eyes and sleep when I felt a leg kick my seat. Uraraka mouthed to me if I was ok and I just looked at her, slowly blinking as a response since I couldn’t think of anything else. Eventually, the bell rang and everyone started getting up to go to lunch.
“Are you coming Y/N?” Tsu asked, walking up to my desk.
“I’m so tired I don’t think I’ll be able to walk there” my voice was muffled since I laid my head on the desk.
“Come on Y/N I can carry you!” Mina said, pulling on my arm for me to get up. I slowly did and followed behind the group of girls as they all chatted with themselves. We eventually made it to the cafeteria and stood in line for food. I got a basic meal; some rice, veggies, a small fruit cup, and some pork cutlets. They do have really good food here, but not as good as Satoshi’s. I began to walk with Uraraka when I heard a voice call out to me.
“Y/N! Come here and sit!” I turned and saw a familiar lizard girl call out to me.
“Hey Setsuna” I walked up and sat next to her at the table. 3 other people where at the table, a blond, a girl with orange hair, and a metal guy.
“Hey! Why is there a 1-A person here? This is 1-B only!” the blond yelled and the orange hair girl hit him in the back of the neck.
“Sorry about Monoma, he’s really competitive” the girl apologized.
“Its ok, I’m Ito but you can call me Y/N” I introduced myself.
“I’m Kendo and this is Tetsutetsu” she pointed at the metal guy next to her.
“So how’s it like in 1-A? You guys skipped the opening ceremony” TetsuTetsu said, mouth full of food.
“It’s rough. Some kids already want to kill each other and then we have a whole pervert in our class”
“That’s gross” Kendo made a disgusted face.
“HA! 1-A will eventually fall apart and the glorious 1-B will rise to be the best class” I rolled my eyes at what Monoma was saying.
“My brothers used to be in class 1-B a few years ago, except they had Present Mic as their homeroom teacher”
“Hmmm…” Monoma glared at me but said nothing.
“Are classes going good though?” Setsuna asked, taking a bite of steak.
“Oh yeah, I really enjoy them so far. The teachers here are really good” I took a bite of cutlet.
“What’s your quirk by the way?” Tetsutetsu looked over at me.
“Sound power, I can turn sound into energy and control it” I made my hand spark up.
“Be careful, Monoma may try to copy your quirk” Kendo warned.
“You can copy people’s quirks? That's so cool!” I said, eyes lighting up.
“O-Of course it’s cool!” he stuttered out. We sat around and talked for a while, enjoying lunch. I even got to have a normal conversation with Monoma where he wasn’t boasting about his quirk. I did have to go to the bathroom, so I excused myself and walked down the hall.
Once I finished washing my hands, a loud blaring alarm came through the speakers. My quirk sparked up and broke the mirrors.
“Shit” a loose glass piece cut my arm as the mirror shattered. It ripped my jacket and blood started pooling out before it stopped, letting me know the wound closed up. Still doesn’t help with the stain though. With the alarm still going, I walked out of the bathroom to leave the building per the evacuation plan. I was about to enter the stairs before I saw it. The familiar black clouds swirling around themselves. Flashbacks to that night came rushing back to me and I panicked, black sparks starting to cover my body. No, no, now's not the time to panic. Don’t lose control, you are ok. I kept repeating until a man with pale blue hair and ashy skin walked out of the clouds. I quickly ran around the corner, hiding but listening to them.
“Come on Kurogiri,” the man said. Is the cloud a person?
“Yes Master Shigaraki” I heard a door close and rustling around inside one of the offices. I snuck back around and peered through the glass in the door. They were moving through files and paperwork inside of the teachers lounge. I wanted to take a closer look, but the cloud turned its head towards me and I began to run against my will. I can’t let that thing catch me, it’ll take me to him, I can’t, I can’t.
Run.
Run.
Run.
Keep going.
Survive.
The black sparks were still bouncing off of me before I made it back into the bathroom. I need to calm down. Breath. You are safe, it didn’t see you. I curled myself up inside of one of the stalls, holding my legs close. Pulling out my phone, I had no idea who to call for help until I saw Momo text me.
Momo: Hey where are you? We are all back in class waiting for you
Momo: Are you ok?
Momo: Y/N?
Y/N: Yeah I’m ok, just a little shaken up from the alarm
Y/N: Be back soon :)
Standing up with shaking legs, I forced myself to pull it together and walk back to class. Opening the door, I refused to make eye contact with anyone. Just walk back to my seat and breath. Don’t let your quirk spark up, not now.
“Ito” I heard Aizawa call my name as I sat down. I looked up and saw everyone’s eyes looking at me. I was trying so hard not to show any fear on my face that I didn’t realize my quirk began to spark up, black electricity bouncing up and down on my skin.
“Yes?” I said, trying to keep my voice flat.
“Go to Recovery Girl” he began writing me a pass and told me to take my stuff with me as I’ll be there the rest of the day. I got up quickly and left, not letting anyone see the tears beginning to go down my face. I’m so weak, I can’t even hold myself together when I am in front of a real villain.
I walked into the Recovery Girls room and she saw the tears going down my face as well as the blood along my arm. She quickly motioned me to sit and removed my coat as she got some supplies together. I curled my legs up to my chest on the bed, trying to make myself as small as possible. If Hayato and Satoshi, they would think I’m weak. Mom would think I’m weak. Toshinori would think I’m weak. I thought back to what Momo said with the hero versus villain battle trials. The whole class probably thinks I’m weak as well. More tears started flowing down my face and my quirk subsided as I moved from fear to sadness. Recovery Girl eventually came back in and looked at my arm.
“How did the wound heal? I don’t remember you coming in earlier?” she stated puzzled.
“I have a second quirk that heals me, but please don’t tell anyone” I confessed to her. She understood and handed me a piece of chocolate.
“What happened out there?” She sat down on a chair next to the bed. Something about her relaxing aura just made me want to tell her something. She reminds me of a grandma.
“The alarms went off in the bathroom causing my quirk to activate and it shattered the mirrors” I explained the cut to her.
“So then why are you crying?” She handed me a tissue and I blew my nose.
“I saw someone from my past, this black, swirling cloud and it caused me to have flashbacks and I realized how actually weak I am” I laughed pitifully.
“You aren’t weak. I’ve seen weak and you aren’t weak” Her voice was stern.
“Are you kidding me? I’m barely able to hold it together when something triggers me, how can I become a hero like this!?” The tears came more and more, flooding my face.
“Because how else would you have the courage to tell me these things?” I stopped crying for a second and looked into her eyes. There was no malicious intent, no hatred, no urge to backstab me. It was just… understanding..
“I just… I don’t know if I can keep up with everyone” I pulled my legs closer to my chest.
“You don’t need to keep up with everyone, you just need to keep up with yourself. If you push yourself too hard physically, where will you end up mentally?”
Chapter 12: USJ Part 1
Chapter Text
“Y/N! Wait!” I heard a voice yell out behind me as I was leaving school for the day. I turned around and saw Midoriya running towards me. Hold it together, don’t cry in front of him.
“What’s up?”
“Are you ok? What happened today?”
“Yeah just a little spooked by the alarm and accidentally cut myself. No big deal” I gave him a fake smile.
“Why was your quirk acting up so much then?” Curse him for being so observant.
“Again, it was just the loud noise” I tried to reassure him. He didn’t look convinced, but he decided to drop it.
“This may be a bad time to ask, but are you free right now?” he looked down at his feet.
“I would love to hang out, but I’m not really up for it right now. We can tomorrow though”
“O-Ok! There’s a new restaurant near here that serves amazing BBQ” he smiled brightly at me.
“Sounds like a plan then. Are you inviting anyone else like Uraraka or Iida?” I knew he hung out with them a lot so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a group outing.
“No, I was just wondering if it could be us. BUT IF YOU WANT THEM TO COME WITH THATS OK TO!!”
“No no it's ok if it's just us” I laughed at his reaction. He relaxed his shoulders and gave me a funny smile.
“I’ll see you tomorrow after class then Y/N”
“Of course, see you later Midoriya” I began walking away before he grabbed my arm. I turned to him and he blushed deeply before letting go of me.
“You can call me Izuku if you want”
--------------------
BEEP BEEP BEEP. The alarm on my phone pulled me out of my nice dream. I was on the beach, enjoying the calm waves and surrounded by four hot men. I couldn’t see their faces, but their bodies were gorgeous.
“Ughhh, shut up” I threw my phone somewhere on the floor, alarm still going.
“Y/N turn that off!” I heard Hayato yell from the other room. Him and Satoshi worked overnight, so they probably just started sleeping. I pulled myself out of bed and grabbed my phone, turning it off. I was not up mentally for going to school today, but I promised Izuku we would hang out afterwards. A bunch of other classmates, especially the girls, all messaged me last night wondering if I was ok after yesterday's accident. Momo and Uraraka both called me and we talked for hours. The other girls in class popped in on the call every now and then, but it was mainly us three. I’m happy we have a group chat for the 7 of us, it makes me feel more connected to them.
Sliding off my warm pajamas and placing on my uniform. I need to order more since my one pair got all torn up. I should probably ask Satoshi for money later today. I’ll let them sleep for now. I began fixing my shoes when I heard the door to one of their bedrooms creak open.
“I heard from Toshinori you are going to USJ today” Hayato walked into the room.
“Yeah, it's a search and rescue exercise” I finished lacing them up.
“I also heard your suit isn’t working properly. You realize there's a button in the middle of the chest that turns on the deflection right?”
“No?”
“Did you not read the paper that came with your suit?” I thought back to the suitcase and saw a letter at the bottom but I didn’t bother to read it.
“Damn” I cursed to myself.
“So just press it next time you need it so you don’t get all sorts of fucked up. Don’t want you coming home in pieces”
“I feel the love” I sarcastically said, deadpanning at him. He laughed before handing me lunch money.
“Have a good day at school, message me if you need anything” he closed the door behind me and I walked to the station. I saw a familiar blond on the platform, but decided to stand away from him. He hasn’t talked to me since the battle trials, and I don’t feel like reaching out to him right now. Finding my usual seat inside the cart, he sat next to me even though there were other seats open. I tried to ignore him, but he began talking.
“What the hell happened yesterday?”
“My quirk got out of control from the loud noises and I hurt myself”
“Like hell that was it. You started having your black sparks again”
“I was just freaked out that’s all” I didn’t feel like explaining what I saw yesterday. I told Toshinori about it and that's it since he’s the only person there I can fully trust.
“And you say I need to get my metal shit together” he pulled out his phone, opening a random app.
“At least I’m a decent person” I put my headphones in, trying not to get too close to the blond. I was about to change the song when I felt someone standing in front of me. Looking up, an older black haired dude looked down at me, a weird smirk on his face.
“Can I help you?” I asked, pulling one earbud out of my ear.
“Hey pretty lady, you ride this bus often?” he reeked of alcohol and weed. I was about to open my mouth when Bakugou cut him off.
“No now leave us alone” he placed his arm around me, flipping him off. The guy backed off immediately, getting off at a random stop along the line.
“Thanks” I smiled at him, and he removed his arm from around me.
“Tell anyone and you are dead”
“Why? Because the great Bakugou can be nice to people? Scary” I giggled.
“He obviously wasn’t going to leave you alone, and he was annoying me. This wasn’t about you” he defended himself.
“Oh no! The great hero Bakugou has saved me. So humble! So kind!” I said dramatically, pretending to be a random citizen.
“Hell yeah I’m the great Bakugou! No one else can be number one!” he boasted, chest puffing out.
“I don’t know, that Todoroki person is really strong as well” I thought of him freezing the entire building again.
“That damn half and half won’t even use both of his quirks, so he’ll never be able to beat me at 100%”
“You are still pretty strong Bakugou, I’ll give you that” the compliment caught him off guard as I never gave him a genuine one. I never wanted to boost his ego, so instead I always hid it in the form of constructive criticism. I turned to my phone, but not before catching the slightest rose tint on his cheeks. Must not be used to receiving genuine praise.
The stop for U.A came and we got off walking side by side. Bakugou was surprisingly quiet. His face was not in a scowl, but it looked like we was thinking about something. I wanted to ask him, but we soon got to the door of the classroom and as soon as I opened it Mina jumped on me.
“Y/N! I'M SO GLAD YOU ARE OK!” she hugged me, yelling almost directly into my ear.
“Why wouldn’t I be? It was just a startle from yesterday nothing crazy” I faked reassurance.
“Do you need anything Y/N?” Kirishima asked with concern. He was one of the people who reached out to me last night, getting my number from Mina.
“I’m ok but thank you” I gave him a smile, and he returned it with a bigger one.
“Ok class settled down” Aizawa took his spot in the front of the room. We all sat down in our seats as homeroom began. Iida started going on and on about the rules of school as Momo stood next to him, sweatdropping at his rant but still kept a smile on her face. I did notice that she kept glancing at Jirou though. Once attendance was taken, Aizawa told us to get our hero suits on and meet outside at the bus.
“Are you excited?!” Uraraka came up to me.
“Yeah!” I remember Hayato and Satoshi saying USJ was really fun and it inspired them to do more search and rescue operations.
“I heard its kind of like Universal Studios without the attractions” Jirou came up to us with Hagakure. Momo was walking close behind with Tsu as well.
I began changing once we got into the locker room, placing on my suit and fixing my elbow and kneepads as well as my knife holders on my thighs. The boots also sucked getting on since they are stiff for support. Placing the gloves on, I felt the connecting between my quirk and suit begin. I let out a tiny amount of energy and pressed the button in the middle of the chest that I thought was decoration. It literally blends in. The suit lines lit up white and small sparks started bouncing off of my body.
“Hey Mina, do you mind hitting me for a second? I want to see if my suit is functioning properly” I asked the alien girl.
“Of course!” she pulled her arm back and swung. Instead of feeling her fist connect with my chest, I saw a spark of light and she bounced back, clenching her hand.
“What was that? That's so cool!” she squeeled, forgetting about her slightly bruised hand.
“Come on ladies lets go” we heard Aizawa yell from the other side of the locker room door. All the guys were waiting outside as Iida started to count to make sure everyone was on the bus.
“Dude, you’re the only one left outside” Sero said from out the window. Iida looked around and grumbled to himself before getting on the bus. I decided to sit next to Todoroki since most of the other seats were taken up. He’s very quiet, so I doubt there would be a problem on the ride. I pulled out my phone and plugged in my headphones. I made sure to request pockets on the pants of the jumpsuit so I can keep my music with me. I was daydreaming about who knows what before I heard my name being brought up in conversation.
“Yeah but Y/N’s really strong too so I would place her up their easily” Kirishima spoke. What are they talking about? I gave them a confused look and Uraraka said they were ranking everyone by how strong and flashy they were. In the top is me, Bakugou, and Todoroki, though Bakugou did not take kindly to Tsu saying that his personality sucks so he wouldn’t be a good hero. He began yelling at her and shouting profanities.
“Bakugou, you are going to lose your voice from all your yelling,” I told him. He just looked at me and flopped back down into his seat, grumbling and muttering curses at Tsu and others.
“Alright, we are here” the bus stop and Aizawa motioned for us to all get off. We entered the building and Jirou was right, this place is like Universal Studios. It’s huge! A person then came up to us and introduced herself at Thirteen. She began going over the many rules of the different zones and what all we are going to do today when out of the corner of my eye I saw it. The clouds began swirling and swirling.
“Aizawa-sensei!” Iida called to the teacher. He turned his head quickly towards the center of the building. Villains began pooling out of the many portals. I felt panic set in and black sparks began coming up on my skin. This can’t be happening! Not two days in a row!
“Y/N are you ok?” Midoriya came over to me and reached out to grab me.
“NO DONT TOUCH ME” I yelled, knowing that if he did he would be shocked due to my quirk freaking out. Hold it together Y/N. You need to do this. I slapped myself in the face, hitting my mask slightly. I regained some control and the black sparks slowly turned to white again.
“Pardon our intrusion. We are the League of Villains here for All Might. However, I see that he is not here” the black cloud appeared in front of the group.
“Stay away from the students!” Thirteen's finger cap came undone and she released a black hole. The cloud dude used his quirk and made a portal so the black hole would go back on Thirteen. I saw pieces of the suit and some of her flesh being pulled into the black hole, slowly tearing small parts of her apart. The black hole went away, but she was still falling apart. Uraraka quickly went to her side and tried to keep her awake. A loud explosion occurred and I saw Bakugou pin the cloud guy down on the ground. He must have a physical part to himself.
“HE CAN BE WEAKENED” a voice rang in my head, surprisingly useful this time. Momo yelled for Iida to start running while there was a clearing, and he took off out of the building to get the other heroes to come and help. I was about to move over to Uraraka to help with Thirteen before a black cloud appeared at my feet, sending me into a full panic. I let out a blood curdling scream as I fell through it, quirk breaking free from my control. The last thing I saw was Izuku running towards me before he got pulled into his own cloud. No, no! I can’t go back to him! I need to get out! I couldn’t breathe, all the oxygen around me felt like it disappeared and I began reaching out for anything to grab, hoping to save me from being taken to him.
Chapter 13: USJ Part 2
Chapter Text
Get up.
Get up or you're going to die.
I pushed myself up after landing hard onto the ground. The air was knocked out of me and I couldn’t breath properly until the warmth of my healing quirk came in and fixed whatever was wrong. I must’ve broken a rib or something. My quirk was still heavily activated as I scanned my surroundings. I’m still in USJ, they didn’t take me where he is. I’m still safe. I crouched down and peered over a nearby wall. A large group of villains was on the other side, waiting for something to attack. Why were they here? One of them noticed me and was about to charge right before ice took over his body. The ice rapidly spread across the entire area, covering the villains bodies immobilizing them. Todoroki must be nearby. I jumped the wall and approached cautiously, making sure my suit was turned on.
“What exactly is your plan?” I heard a familiar voice. Todoroki approached one of the villains, remaining at a distance in case he breaks out.
“We want to kill that damn All Might but that son of a bitch isn’t here. We got to settle with the next thing” the villain bared his sharp. I saw something shimmer out of the corner of my eye and saw something quickly approaching Todoroki. I sent out a barrier and caused the villain that was about to attack to bounce back off of it. Todoroki turned around and his eyes widened ever so slightly as he noticed me. The villain got up quickly and turned towards me.
“You’re fucking dead!” he screamed and charged at me. I sent out an energy tentacle and swiped at him, sending him flying back and crashing into a tree. The sound of his spin shattering echoed over the area, sending a small shiver over the other villain's skins.
“If you won’t cooperate, you will die of hypothermia from the ice. Tell us information about your plans to kill All Might” None of the villains answered, instead telling him to go fuck himself.
“We need to keep moving,” Todoroki began walking away from the yelling. I quickly followed behind, making sure to keep my guard up. If I stay with him, I won’t have to use my quirk as much, making less of a chance it’ll get out of control again.
“Do you think there’s any more around here?”
“No idea, keep your guard up” He peered around a corner, ice forming slightly in his hand. I pulled the knife out of my pocket as we heard a set of footsteps getting closer. They were about to turn the corner when Todoroki sent out a blast of ice, immobilizing… Hagakure?
“Oh shit are you ok?” I asked her, trying to chip away at the ice with my knife without hurting her.
“S-S-So col-d-d” you can see her breath come out in little puffs. I charged up my quirk and placed my hand on the ice, allowing small amounts of electricity out to not hurt her. The ice began to shatter, allowing her to break free.
“Take Hagakure to the entrance with the rest of the class,” Todoroki commanded.
“Are you sure? Don’t you need some help down here?” I asked him, but he already turned to walk towards the center of the building. He must be scoping around for more villains. I took Hagakure’s cold body with some energy tentacles and started carrying her. The ice caused her to start shaking too much where she couldn’t stand. We made it about halfway before I heard creaking behind me.
“Hagakure” I whispered, crouching down onto the ground to place her down.
“Wha-”
“Shh” I cut her off, listening for the creaking again. I began to crawl slowly inside of the bushes, and Hagakure followed behind me. It was silent for a few minutes as we sat there, breathing slowly to not let anyone hear us. I was about to help Hagakure stand up before a woman appeared in front of us, pulling me up by my hair out of the bushes.
“I knew I could smell a wanna be hero” she snarled, throwing me back onto the ground. She didn’t see Hagakure though, who let out a small squeak. The villain turned her head, but I quickly distracted her, kicking her in the ribs while my leg was covered in sparking energy. She flew backwards, groaning in pain at the kick. I looked down and saw blood covering my suit leg, but it wasn’t mine. Did I kick through her? I saw blood beginning to pool around her as she gasped for air.
“Are you ok Y/N?” Hagakure asked me, but I couldn’t answer. I have kicked people before with my quirk, but I have never kicked through someone.
“Come on, we got to go!” She pulled on my arm, and I snapped out of it, quickly catching up to her running. At least she’s able to move on her own now.
We finally got to the entrance of USJ where we saw a few of our classmates were sitting. No villains were nearby, so I allowed my guard to go down a little bit as I approached Uraraka and Mina taking care of Thirteen.
“Is she still not going ok?” I crouched next to them.
“She’s at least stable, but will have to go to the hospital” Uraraka held on to the Space Hero’s hand.
“Are you ok?! You have blood all over your leg!” Mina yelled, pointing to the red suit leg.
“It’s not mine its a villains”
“How the hell did you do that?” Sero came over to ask me.
“I don’t know. The villain was about to go after Hagakure and I gave her a kick with my quirk and it broke through her skin” I still had no idea what was going on. Sero looked like he was about to say something but a large explosion came from the door. We turned and saw All Might standing there, his usual smile on his face being replaced by something darker, more serious.
“Dont worry! I am here!” he yelled out, quickly approaching the center of the arena. We looked closer and saw that Izuku, Kirishima, Todoroki, and Bakugou were all fighting a large, black bird creature. I turned my head and saw Tsu and Mineta protecting an almost lifeless body of Aizawa.
“Sero, I’m going in to try and get Aizawa out of there”
“That's too dangerous Y/N” he warned me.
“He’s only going to get more injured if he stays in there” I started running towards the center around the edge, trying not to be seen by the giant bird creature or any other villains.
“Y/N!” I heard Tsu whisper as I got closer. I began to do a sort of crouch run before I slid over to them, ending up right next to Aizawa.
“Sir are you ok?” I asked, looking down at the blood gushing out of him. He groaned in a response, eyes unable to stay open.
“Tsu we got to move him”
“If we do, we may pierce him with a broken bone, shouldn’t we wait for the heroes to come?”
“NO HEROES ARE GOING TO COME” the voice began to ring out again. Now is not the time!
“We are on our own for now, we got to do what we can” I took a look over again of his injuries, trying to decide what way to move him would be the best.
“Y/N LOOK OUT!” I heard a voice yell out. I lifted my head up and saw the black beaked creature flying towards me. I quickly put a barrier up, sending the bird creature back.
“Tsu we got to move now!” I warned her. The creature’s attention focused onto me and stood up, legs getting ready to charge. Fuck, there’s no time to move Aizawa. All Might stood up and was about to attack the creature, but I beat him to it. I sent out a punch, energy cascading off of my arm. The creature flew backwards, at least a few meters giving me some space.
“Young Ito! Take Aizawa and go!” All Might yelled out, but I heard Toshinori come through. He doesn’t want me to get hurt by a killing machine. I need to protect Aizawa and Tsu and sadly Mineta. Their quirks are not good for this situation right now, and if I run I am…
“WEAK” the voice said, but I pushed past it. Like Hayato said, it’s just trying to get me to lose control. Stay in control of your mind, stay in control of your quirk. I just need to keep pushing more and more.
Electricity began to cover my body as the wind around me began to whip around. The creature charged at me and I sent out a large burst of energy, causing it to fling backwards and hit the wall across USJ. I then created a barrier on the ground and pushed against it, allowing me to build up a lot of potential energy to lunge at the creature once it comes back, and its coming back quick. Launching off of the barrier, I was shot forwards, pushing myself forward with wind until I knocked down the creature.
“KILL IT!” Is it even alive?
“KILL IT!” I must protect my friends.
“KILL IT!” Am I just like him? Hurting people?
“KILL IT!”
“SHUT UP!” I yelled out to the voices, pulling at my hair as my head began to feel like splitting. The creature got back up and was about to come back to me again, but a giant ice wall got in between us. I felt a pair of hands quickly pull me backwards. Looking up, I saw a red head looking down on me concerned.
“Y/N are you ok? Your quirk is turning black again?” He pulled me back towards where the other three guys were. All Might and the creature began to fight, fists flinging at each other rapidly.
“Y/N!” Izuku ran up to me as Kirishima placed me down. He was about to reach out to me but stopped as black sparks bounced around on my skin more. I was trying so hard not to lash out with my quirk. I can’t let them see that side of me. I won’t be like him.
“Y/N you need to relax” Kirishima hardened his skin to touch me, rubbing up and down my back. I didn’t see it, but Izuku had an indescribable look on his face. Kirishima noticed it though.
“I can’t… it hurts” I groaned in pain, holding my head together to prevent it from hypothetically splitting. It didn’t help that more and more noise was going on, constantly fulling my quirk. Blackness began to cover my vision, but I kept trying to push through. What if they need me to fight? I need to survive for them. The blackness took more and more of a hold on me, pulling me in more and more until I finally relaxed in Kirishima’s arms.
Chapter 14: One for All
Chapter Text
“YOU HURT MY DAUGHTER??” the tall man slammed his hands down onto the table, shattering it upon impact.
“It was a mistake. Uncalculated that she would throw herself in front of her teacher like that” the man behind the screen said, voice unwavering in emotions.
“You promised me nothing would happen to her, how do you expect her to join us if she’s dead!”
“Her quirk is still unstable, her mental block is still there.”
“Good, good, there’s still time”
------------------------
“WHY DID YOU KILL ME?” a voice from the black called out to me. I looked around rapidly, trying to find where it was coming from.
“WHY?” I locked eyes with the villain who tried to attack me and Hagakure at USJ. Her face was falling apart and insides were spilling out, just like how she looked when I kicked her.
“I didn’t mean to!” I yelled back, stepping farther and farther away from her.
“YOU ARE JUST LIKE HIM! ALL YOU DO IS DESTROY EVERYTHING AROUND YOU! YOU’LL NEVER BE A HERO!” she ran towards me, lunging at my face.
I bolted upright, hospital room lights shining down onto me. I quickly looked around and realized I was inside of Recovery Girls office, laying down on one of the beds. Trying to regulate my breathing, I heard someone next to me silently snoring. A mop of green hair was laying in the bed to the left of me.
“Izuku?” I whispered, but then I realized he probably also needed his rest. I checked the time and it was 1:30 in the afternoon, so school was still in session. Did the others go back to class? Did they get sent home? Did anyone else get injured? All the questions were racing through my head before I heard the door creak open.
“Toshinori” I looked at the blond haired man entering the room. He took his place sitting on one of the chairs at the end of the bed.
“Are you feeling ok?” he reached out and held my hand.
“Is everyone else ok? Did anyone else get injured?”
“No, no. It was just you, Aizawa and young Midoriya”
“What happened to Aizawa? Why isn’t he here?”
“He needed to go to a hospital for his injuries. Recovery Girl would have drained him of all his energy, causing more problems” I relaxed, knowing that our teacher was in good hands.
“The rest of your class was sent home and will have off from school tomorrow. Please make sure to relax ok? I know that today was rough for you regarding the portal quirk”
“I don’t know why it hit me so much, I thought I got a handle on that stuff. And when I saw my friends getting injured I felt like I was going to lose control” a few tears slid down my cheeks as I finally let out my emotions.
“Y/N…”
“I can’t be a hero like this Toshinori, I’m a walking time bomb of trying not to injure people. I feel like I’m walking on egg shells whenever I use my quirk. No matter how hard I practice, I feel like I’m not improving anything. Hayato and Satoshi were able to grasp their quirks at such a young age, why wasn’t I able to?” I cried more, voice cracking from the pain I was feeling in my chest.
“Y/N, can I tell you something?” I looked at him and nodded silently.
“When me and your mom were very young, she was able to master those two parts of her quirk with ease, which is why she used them so much. She never was able to grasp your part of her quirk no matter how much training she did, physically and mentally. When she died, she was only able to control about half of it before she would lose control. She had the same issues as you. She was afraid of losing control and hurting people, she was so scared of becoming a villain she would hide that part of her quirk most of the time, relying on the other two parts. When you developed your quirk, she came to me scared that you would lose control too, but you know what's interesting?”
“What?” I sniffled.
“You never have. You told Uraraka to run during the battle trials, you kept yourself together to protect people as USJ today. No matter how much you felt like you were losing control, you always had it” he gave me a soft smile, holding my hand tighter.
“I’m just so scared Toshinori, what if people find out and call me a villain for being related to one?”
“What you came from, and who you are are two different things. You, Hayato, and Satoshi had every right to kill your father and become villains, but yet you became heroes to protect people”
“I dont… I just-”
“Mmmm” we turned our heads and saw Izuku stirring awake. He opened his eyes slowly and rubbed them before opening them even wider.
“A-A-All!” he cut himself, hands cupping his mouth.
“She knows young Midoriya” Toshinori said.
“H-HOW?” his face went really pale.
“I’ve known about One for All longer than you have” I told him, and he looked even more confused.
“How do you know? Do you have it as well?” he began muttering a lot of theories to himself and started pacing around the room.
“Can I tell him?”
“Yes” Toshinori gave me permission.
“Izuku please sit down you’re stressing me out a little bit” he gave me a squeak and sat down on his bed, paying full attention to me.
“How much can I say?”
“The whole story. Trust me, he won’t tell anyone” Toshinori reassured me, and Izuku nodded violently.
“Ok, do you know the hero Soundwave?”
“Yeah! She used to fight alongside All Might all the time! She did go MIA a while ago though…”
“She didn’t go MIA”
“What do you mean?”
“She died 11 years ago” I started picking at my fingers, a nervous habit I picked up.
“How do you know this?” He asked, not judgmental but full of curiosity.
“She is my mother”
“Really?” he gave me a look of condolences.
“Yes, she died due to my father killing her?” He gave me a look that told me to explain more.
“My father is… the water villain Leviathan…” I looked down, afraid he will call me a villain. Instead, he took my hand in his bandaged one, something he’s never done before.
“Y/N… do you want to tell me more?” he asked me, and my heart skipped a small beat for a second.
“Y-Yeah I’m ok to continue” I gave him a small smile and he returned it.
“He killed her in the bathroom since our quirks aren’t good in water due to electrocution. I tried to stop him, but he began to drown me. He eventually stopped and my brothers came in, trying to defend me until he disappeared into a black cloud. The exact one we saw today”
“Is that why you began to freak out?”
“I’m so scared that they’ll take me back to him. The last thing he said to us is that he will make us villains. We lived in so much fear growing up” tears rolled down my face again.
“How do you know All Might though?” he questioned.
“Toshinori took care of us after my mom died, raising us basically like our dad. I only started living with my brothers this year since they now have jobs as heroes”
“Who are they?”
“My brother Hayato is Paradox and Satoshi is Marksman”
“You’re related to them? That’s so cool! You come from a whole family of heroes” he gave me a big smile like he does when he sees heroes fighting; a smile of awe and admiration.
“Yeah, Toshinori didn’t want to give us One for All since we already had strong quirks, so instead we began helping him to find a successor, but we never had luck until he actually found you”
“How long did you know I had One for All?”
“Since you began training”
“AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME??” He yelled at me in shock.
“TOSHINORI SAID NOT TO UNTIL AFTER THE ENTRANCE EXAMS THEN I JUST FORGOT I’M SORRY!” I yelled back at him. Toshinori just faced palms at the exchange.
“Listen Izuku, I’m sorry for keeping it a secret for this long”
“It’s ok, I understand where you’re coming from” he smiled at me, and I felt a slight blush rush to my face. What is happening to me?
“Thank you Izuku” I leaned forward and gave him a hug, squeezing him tight before letting go. I pulled away and saw him short circuiting inside of his brain, sputtering out random words trying to come up with a sentence.
“Y-Y-Y-You’re welcome Y/N” he finally said, looking down at his shoes. A knock was then heard at the door, and in walked a man inside with black hair and wearing a trench coat.
“Hello Toshinori,” he said. I think that this is Naomasa if I remember correctly. I used to see him talk to Toshinori when we were out in public when I was younger.
“W-W-”
“Its ok young Midoriya, he knows about my weakened form” So he doesn’t know about One for All then.
“Hello, my name is Naomasa from the local police force and a close friend of Toshinori” the black haired man said.
“Naomasa is investigating what happened today at USJ” Toshinori explained.
“I wanted to say All Might, thank you again for saving us today” Izuku looked up at him as Toshinori began to leave the room with Naomasa.
“Don’t only thank me, you all did your parts today. All of you fought with everything you got, and will become very fine heroes. It’s an honor to teach you all” Toshinori said before closing the door with the other man following behind him. Me and Izuku sat in silence for a moment before we looked at each other.
“So-”
“Do-” We cut each other off. I giggled a little bit and he blushed at me.
“Do you want to go to that restaurant you were talking about?” I asked him.
“Sure!” he said very quickly before hiding his face in his hands.
“We should probably get changed then back into our uniforms. Don’t want to be going out like this” I motioned at his torn gym uniform and my bloody hero costume. Seeing the blood again, I got a flashback into the dream. No, now is not the time to think about that.
-------------
“So how does it feel when you use your quirk exactly?” I took a bite of the pork BBQ in front of me, letting the juices enter my mouth.
“It kind of feels like I have the strength do to anything I want, too bad I can’t control it yet”
“Key word is yet. You still have time to perfect it”
“What about your quirk?” He asked, taking a sip of the mint drink in front of him. The color looks exactly like his hair, its kind of funny.
“It feels like pure electricity is running throughout my body. As first it felt weird and itchy, but after a while I got used to it”
“Do you ever think you’ll be able to gain control?”
“I hope so, Toshinori said not even my mom was able to control it. I just hope that I can keep up with all of you guys. I already see so much improvement from all our classmates, I feel like I’m stalling honestly” I laughed dryly.
“I don’t think that. You still are able to hold your own in fights and know your limits”
“I know, it’s just I wish I was able to control it better. I have the basics down of all the little parts of my quirk like my barriers and the tentacles, but I can only do so little with them. It’s very small scaled” I pushed about some of the pork with my fork, signing.
“We can train together then!” Izuku suggested.
“I don’t think training would help at this rate. It’s more of a mental thing”
“Do you want to explain it more?” He gave me a curious look.
“I reach a certain point where my quirk basically turns against me. It tells me to start hurting people and that I’ll be just like my father. I’m so afraid of losing control that I don’t keep pushing past that”
“Hmmm” He looked off in the distance like he was trying to think of something.
“You don’t need to worry about that though, I’ll get my brothers to help out with it” I gave him a smile to reassure him.
“Are you sure? I’m always here if you need help”
“Thank you Izuku, but I think I’ll be ok for now” I ate more of the pork on my plate.
“Do you have any plans for tomorrow?” he asked.
“No really honestly. I kind of just want to lay around my house and sleep”
“Oh…” he looked dejected.
“Why? Did you want to do something?”
“N-No! I was just wondering that’s all!” He put his hands up in defense and I laughed. His face became red again and he gave a small laugh as well. It was nice going out and enjoying a meal with him. Wait….
….Is this a date??

Chapter Text
I took a few more sips of my coffee as I stepped onto the train platform. Hayato gave me extra money this morning for lunch, so I decided to get myself a little drink to pick me up. All I did yesterday was sleep and study, so I was not ready to go back to school. A familiar blond was also on the platform, this time actually giving me a look of acknowledgment before looking back down at his phone. That's progress I guess. Finally sitting down on the train, I pulled out my phone to see Izuku messaged me.
Izuku: Hey!
Izuku: Did you do the homework for math today
Izuku: I forgot to do it :/// Can you help me in homeroom today???
Y/N: Sure!
Y/N: You owe me though
Izuku: I’ll buy you something sweet at lunch today
Y/N: Deal!
“Why are you texting that nerd?” I heard Bakugou's voice right next to me, not noticing he sat down.
“Why are you looking over my shoulder like a creep”
“Not my fault you have your phone out in the open. Anyone else is able to see your screen” he said very matter of factly. I just rolled my eyes, not trying to get into an argument this early in the morning. I’m surprised he talked to me first though, even if it was to poke a little bit at Izuku.
The rest of the ride was silent, just the occasional conversations from others on the train. I decided not to listen to music today and just sip away on my coffee. It was good, a little more sugar was needed but other than that it was fabulous. The stop for U.A eventually came and we got off. As usual, Bakugou walked farther ahead than me, but I got used to it by now. I took my time, enjoying the walk until I heard a familiar voice call out to me.
“Y/N!” I turned and saw Kirishima running up to me.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“Are you doing ok? Last time I saw you you looked like you were about to die” I completely forgot I passed out in his arms at USJ. That must’ve been terrible for him to see.
“Yeah, I just needed a little rest yesterday. How about you though?”
“Good, good. What kind of coffee are you drinking?” We began to walk towards the building together.
“Its a caramel macchiato with a little oat milk inside of it”
“Can I try some?” he asked with puppy dog eyes.
“Sure!” I handed him the cup and he took a large sip of it. I had to pull it out of his hands or else he would drink the whole thing.
“KIRISHIMA NO! MY DRINK”
“BUT IT'S SO GOOD!” he yelled back at me, finally letting go of the drink. There was about a quarter of it left and I gave a defeated sigh.
“You owe me a coffee now” I gave him an evil glare.
“If we make it to Lunch Rush quickly, I can get you one” he suggested.
“I can’t, I have to help Izuku with his homework”
“I can just go get it for you then”
“That would probably be easier. Do you need any help with homework?”
“Ehh, kind of. I’ve never been the best with school honestly” he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
“If you ever need help you can come to me” I smiled up at him and he gave me one back with a small blush on his face. Once we entered the building, we parted ways as I walked upstairs to the class and he began walking towards the cafeteria.
“Hey Y/N!” Mina yelled as I entered class.
“Hi!” I waved at her, and she wiggled her eyebrows at me. I gave her a very confused look as I walked over towards Izuku’s desk.
“Do you know what that was about?” I asked him, pulling Bakugou's chair up to the side of Izuku’s desk since he wasn’t here yet. Strange, he walked ahead of me and I still beat him.
“What about what?” He gave me a confused look. I simply shrugged my shoulders and sat down, pulling out the homework. I begin to explain the problems to him, and he seemed to get them really easily. We were finishing up the last one when the door opened and in came Bakugou.
“Oi Noisy, get out of my seat!” he yelled. There’s the Bakugou I’m used to. I packed my things up slowly, testing his patients. He began to tap his foot rapidly before practically picking me up out of the chair to move it back to his desk.
“Rude” I whispered to myself, trying to ignore it as I walked back to my seat. The door opened again and in walked Kirishima holding two drinks.
“Here you go, I got one for myself since that was really good” he placed the cup down onto my desk, taking a sip of his own.
“Thank you Kirishima! You’re so… manly!” His face got really red as I used his word on him. He walked back to his seat quickly. I began to sip on the new drink until Mina walked over to me with Uraraka.
“Hey guys whats up?” I swallowed the coffee in my mouth.
“So~ About you and Kirishima huh?” Mina said quietly, wiggling her eyebrows. Uraraka did the same thing as well.
“It’s nothing like that, he drank a good portion of my coffee on our walk here and I told him he owes me a new one” I quietly said back.
“Awww! You two walked together into school! How cute!” Mina fell backwards dramatically and Uraraka caught her laughing. Others in the class started to look towards us, and I felt my face heat up red.
“Shut up!” I covered her mouth, not allowing her to say anything else. Luckily, the door opened and in walked…. A mummy?
“Just because I am wrapped up does not mean that you get to act however you want” Aizawa’s voice came from beyond the wrapping.
“Shouldn’t you be resting?” Sero asked.
“No. We have a lot to cover, especially with the sports festival coming up” I remember Hayato and Satoshi talking about that before. They somehow fought each other every year during the bracket, but they never won first place.
“For the next week, all we will be doing is training. This is your chance to show the heroes out there what you are made of” Aizawa then curled up into his sleeping bag. His body probably is still hurting from the amount of surgery he got.
“LETS GO!” Kaminari yelled, hyping up the students around him. Everyone began talking about the festival and who they hoped to impress there.
“Are you excited… Uraraka?” The girl next to me had a certain aura around her.
“I am going to destroy the competition,” she said with a face of seriousness.
“Hell yeah…?” I pumped my fist up into the air hesitantly. My attention was then pulled to Momo coming up to talk to me.
“I know I already texted you this, but are you sure you’re doing ok after the attack?” her face was full of concern.
“Of course! I just needed some rest yesterday but now I’m ready to keep on going!” I gave her a thumbs up, hiding my doubt. I’m still so afraid I’m going to hurt someone at the festival, but that’s a later me’s problem.
“I actually came over here to ask you if you’d like to train together”
“I’m really sorry Momo, but I kind of want to train alone for this” her face sunk, but she told me she understood. I feel sorry, but I needed to focus mentally instead of physically, and that won’t help her with her training.
Everyone around the room began partnering up with each other, trying to plan out the best ways to train. The only two I didn’t see going around were Bakugou and Todoroki, which makes sense. They are already strong enough that they could easily train on their own. The bell rang signalling the end of homeroom and in came Present Mic to teach us English, causing us all to sit down.
--------
“Hey what is going on!”
“Why can’t we leave the room?” No one from our class was able to exit the classroom as a group of students was blocking the doorway. They all came to see the class that was in the USJ attack. I distinctly heard Monoma’s voice yelling about how sucky 1-A was and how they are the better class. He’s still on about that?
“Is there anyway we can escape? I want to go home” Mina groaned and Hagakure agreed.
“We can’t just push through them though,” Momo said, pondering about what we should do.
“We can always jump out the window,” I suggested, pointing towards the wall.
“Y/N… not all of us can catch ourselves with our quirks. Also you cant break the window or else you pay for it” Momo gave me a small lecture.
“Move it extras” we heard Bakugou tell the people, and surprisingly some of them did move out of the way.
“Yeah I’m taking the window” I walked over and was able to actually slide it open.
“Y/N what are you- WAIT” I heard someone yell behind me, but I already jumped. I just wanted to go home and lay down. Using my quirk to control the air around me, I created drag to slow myself down and land gently onto the ground. Looking back up at the classroom window, I saw Sero, Kirishima, Mina, and Uraraka all sticking their heads out the window.
“Y/N DON’T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN!” Mina yelled down and I laughed, waving up at them knowing they’re stuck up there until the other students let them out of the classroom. Sadly, it was time for me to walk home. I must begin training for the sports festival today, I can’t lose control in front of all those heroes, let alone hurt my friends and classmates. I’ll make mom and my brothers proud, just wait and see.

Chapter Text
My legs were burning as I turned the corner. Waking up early on a Saturday to take a run was not the best idea, but I need to get back into shape. I’ve been slacking recently. The spring air was nice against my face, and not many people were up this early in the morning so only a few cars were driving by. It was really peaceful, until my phone began to buzz.
“Hello?” I picked it up.
“Hey while you're out can you get some breakfast for us? I’ll send you money” Hayato’s voice came through.
“And what if I don’t?”
“Looks like we can’t help you train today”
“Damn…”
“Satoshi just placed an order in at a place on 7th street, its under his name and he actually already paid for it. He got you chocolate chip pancakes and a strawberry acai drink with extra strawberries in it. Should be done by the time you get there”
“How do you expect me to bring it all back? That’s 20 minutes from our house?”
“First training lesson; figure it out. Byeeee” he disconnected the call. Ughhhh. I took two more blocks and a left to end up in front of the location Satoshi sent me.
“Good morning maam” a lady behind the counter gave me a slight bow, and I gave her one back.
“Hello, I have an order for Ito Satoshi”
“Ah yes, I’ll bring it right out” she disappeared into another door. I took a look around the restaurant, and this looked really high end. The low lighting and monochrome tables definitely sent a message that I should not be here in my workout gear. I heard the door open, letting me now other patrons walked in. I gave a quick glance and saw one of my classmates with presumably his brother and sister based on their hair. It was so weird seeing Todoroki outside of his school clothes and hero suit.
I didn’t want to draw too much attention to myself since I looked out of place here, so I decided not to say hello. Sadly, they also came over to the pick up counter so I had nowhere to hide. I focused all my attention onto my phone, trying not to converse with him even though I knew he wouldn’t talk to me. He barely talks in class unless called on.
“Here you go! So sorry about the wait” the lady returned, handing me a large bag and drink.
“It’s ok! Thank you very much” I smiled and turned, walking away but catching a stare from Todoroki. It wasn’t a bad stare, it was more of a slight surprised one, probably because he hasn’t seen me outside of class. It's like when you see a teacher outside of school, you’re surprised they have their own lives outside of the classroom.
The walk back was horrible. My arms began to tire out from holding the large back so I kept switching them back and forth. My legs were also tired from the run I had this morning. The only thing keeping me going was the smell of pancakes from the bag and the taste of the drink I kept sipping. I got to the front door of our apartment and started kicking the door, unable to grab my keys out of my pocket.
“What do- oh hey Y/N” Satoshi opened the door for me, letting me squeeze by him. I placed the bag on the counter and Hayoshi jumped up off of the couch, using his quirk to get here in the blink of an eye.
“Finally, I’ve been waiting for this” he pulled out the boxes using his quirk and set everything up on the kitchen table in our respective places before sitting down in under 10 seconds.
“I take it you're hungry this morning?” I said, sitting down in my spot and opening up the box of pancakes. The sweet aroma filled my nose as I placed butter and syrup on top of them.
“We didn’t have a chance to eat dinner last night due to a hostage situation at a grocery store” he shovled eggs into his mouth.
“If you keep eating like that you are going to choke” Satoshi ate some of his pork.
“At least it's a hell of a way to go out; Death By Eggs” he giggled. I noticed a piece of paper attached to his box and pulled it off, realizing it was the receipt. Making my way to the bottom, I saw the total.
“15,000 YEN? WHY DID YOU ORDER THIS?” I yelled out, completely taken back by the price.
“Relax, we make enough money to afford this every once and a while” Satoshi waved me off.
“How much money do you guys even make as heroes?!”
“It does help a lot we are both in the top 20, I would say maybe… 18 million yen a year to each of us” my face became pale at the idea of us having that much money. It made me start to think how much money Toshinori gained a year if they were earning 18 million yen.
“You ok Y/N?” Satoshi tapped my foot with his under the table.
“Thats so much money” I said quietly.
“Nah, I think honestly Endeavour earns the most, especially since he has a lot of real estate involving agencies” Hayato began now eating some of the ham on his plate.
“Speaking of Endeavour, I saw his kids today. One of them is in my class”
“At the restaurant?”
“Yeah”
“Makes sense, they have that kind of money to eat at those places often. Surprised he wasn't there with them” Satoshi commented.
“Remember when Endeavour tried to hook you up with his daughter?!” Hayato laughed, making Satoshi groan.
“Don’t remind me. I do not want to relive that”
“What happened?” I asked Hayato.
“Satoshi had to come out to Endeavour in front of our class during the Sports Festival our second year. It was so funny!”
“Did the rest of the class at least know?” I turned to Satoshi.
“Obviously” he took a sip of water.
“No need to get rude” I said, a slight joking tone in my voice. He rolled his eyes playfully and we continued eating in peace.
------------
“GET THE FUCK UP” Hayato yelled, sending another kick my way. I placed a barrier up quickly, barely blocking myself. The barrier caused him to bounce back, sending him flying towards Satoshi.
“If you can’t continue, let us know and we will take a break” Satoshi said, scythe in hand glowing a faint red.
“No, no, I can keep going” I groaned, pushing myself back up into a fighting position. No matter how loud the voices were getting, I needed to keep going. I needed to push forward to make any kind of improvement.
“Good” Satoshi gave a devilish smirk before running up to me quickly, scythe swinging towards my abdomen. I created a gush of air to knock him backwards. If I keep playing defense, the voices don’t happen as often. I just need to keep defending myself and I won’t lose control.
“Come on Y/N, you need to attack us” Hayato stood up from his fall backwards.
“I can’t, I’m not losing control and risking hurting you guys”
“And what if we were villains, would you still give us the same treatment?!” Hayato was now yelling in annoyance.
“YES! I DON’T WANT TO KILL ANYONE”
“THAT’S TOO BAD! SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO”
“WHY?” I cried back to him. He slowly turned off his quirk and walked towards me.
“Sometimes, heroes can’t save everyone. You are going to have to kill people”
“But I don’t want to kill my friends in the process if I lose control”
“Stop fearing everything. You can’t be a hero if you are constantly afraid of your quirk. It is your quirk, you are in charge of what happens with it, whether it is good or evil”
“I’m just constantly reminded that if I kill someone, I’ll be no better than him”
“You are better than him Y/N, you don’t kill someone out of fun, you kill out of necessity. That’s what divides heroes from villains. You protect people, they destroy. But you are so concerned with protecting others you are destroying yourself. You keep holding all of this energy and emotion inside of you it is going to release itself and you are not going to know what to do and really hurt someone” I looked up at Hayato, small tears welting in my eyes.
“So either you get your head out of your ass and learn to fight with your quirk and stop running from it, or stop trying to be a hero. No one will look at you differently if you stop”
“I need to keep going”
“Why?”
“I need to protect people”
“Why do you need to do that?” Hayato looked down at me.
“Because no one was there to protect us” The answer made him smirk and he walked backwards before standing in a fighting position.
“From the top”

Chapter 17: Let the Games Begin! (Sports Festival Part One)
Notes:
Y/N will be taking the place of Kaminari in the sports festival
Chapter Text
After a week of training, I felt like I got nowhere. I was able to work a little bit on my fear of losing control with help from Satoshi and Hayato, but beyond that I don’t feel stronger with my quirk. What Toshinori said to me kept ringing in my head about how my mom was never able to perfect this part of her quirk; what if I can’t perfect it either? Satoshi gave me the idea that instead of focusing on using my quirk to attack, work on my defense and agility since they let me have more control than if I were to play offense.
“Y/N are you soon ready?” Hayato asked down the hall as I finished up doing my hair and fixing my lip gloss.
“One second!” I yelled back, grabbing my backpack and water bottle.
“Are you excited?” Satoshi asked, placing on the boots to his hero suit.
“Did you get called in today?” I looked confused at his suit.
“Nope, we are going to the sports festival too!” He jumped up out of his seat excited.
“What? Why?”
“We want to see you in action, plus we want to see the other students as well. We are a part of an agency for recruiting” Hayato fixed his gloves. Both of their suits look very similar to mine, but instead of the black and white, Hayato was blue and black and Satoshis was black and red. They also both wore masks, but Hayato also wore goggles due to the wind drying out his eyes when he runs.
“Just don’t get too disappointed when I lose” I laughed a little bit.
“Nah, we believe in you,” Satoshi smiled before putting on his mask.
“Can you even walk outside the apartment with that on? Won’t people realize you live here?” I asked them.
“Nah, thats why we jump off the roof? Just walk out the door and make sure the coast is clear” Satoshi motioned for me to check. I slid on my shoes and slipped out the door, making sure the coast was clear. I signaled for them that it was good and they walked out.
“See you there” Hayato gave me a thumbs up before throwing Satoshi over his shoulder and activating his quirk, disappearing into a blue blur.
Masutafu was buzzing with life today the closer I got to U.A. I saw many heroes walking around and many vendors trying to sell stuff, especially food. A few heroes stopped me and told me good luck and I thanked them, continuing my walk.
“ARE YOU EXCITED?!” Mina scared me, throwing her arm around my shoulder.
“Yeah! Are you?”
“Of course! I was training my ass off this entire week” she flexed her small muscles at me and I laughed, flexing back at her.
“Do you think you’ll place at all?”
“I hope I make it even into the top 10” I giggled.
“Yeah, especially with some of our classmates as well as 1-B, who knows what's going to happen this year” Mina wrapped her arm around mine. One thing I’ve learned about her is she loves physical touch, especially when she’s excited or nervous.
“We should probably get to class to get ready, don’t want anyone waiting for us” I began walking quicker, slightly pulling the alien girl with me.
“Hey Y/N” Uraraka called out to me as I entered the room.
“What’s up?” Me and Mina walked over to her.
“I… I’m just nervous about today” she confessed.
“Why, whats wrong?” I sat down at my seat next to her.
“It’s a little personal” she scratched the back of her neck, blushing slightly.
“If you don’t feel comfortable, you don’t have to tell me” I reassured her. She let out a sigh before speaking.
“I’m afraid I’m going to let my parents down”
“How come?”
“I became a hero for money to help out my family. We never had much, but we made it by. I just want to be able to give them the life they deserve” a lone tear rolled down her face.
“Uraraka, they are proud of you either way. Whether you win today or not, you still made it into U.A and are going to be a great hero” I held her hand, giving it a firm squeeze.
“Thank you Y/N” she gave me a weak smile before Aizawa entered the room, still bandaged from the USJ attack.
------------------
“Hey, there’s no need for a declaration of war” Kirishima spoke up, trying to ease the tension between the split haired and green haired boys. Todoroki brushed Kirishima’s hand off his shoulder, walking out of the waiting room the rest of the class was in. Bakugou left after him, walking the opposite direction.
“Well, that was something,” Kaminari said, nervousness thick in the air.
“Pre competition jitters most likely” Momo said, trying to calm the class slightly. Two of the strongest in the class causing a war against each other is nothing to brush by. What’s worse is that Todoroki also caused war with me. What did I even do? I understand the other two somewhat, but I don’t even talk to the guy.
“Are you ok Y/N? You look a little nervous” Hagakure came over to me.
“Just ignore them honestly” Jirou said and Momo shook her head. I gave them small smiles as Mina ran over with her phone.
“Guys! Look at the live stream! Look at how many people there are!” She handed Hagakure the phone and I looked over her shoulder. There are to be at least 20,000 heroes there!
“Woah! I never seen that many heroes at this before, and I watched every year” Hagakure gushed.
“Must be because we survived the USJ event and they want to see the students who did it” Tsu rationalized.
“We got to do our best then!” Uraraka pumped her fist into the air, hyping all of us up.
“Let's go beyond!” Mina called out.
“PLUS ULTRA!!” The rest of the class yelled back before someone knocked on the door letting us know it was time to walk out.
The tunnel to walk out was large and Mina held onto my hand, shaking back and forth in excitement. Momo was also next to me and I felt her aura radiating off of her, a big smile on her face. Everyone in class was so excited, and they eventually called 1-A to walk out. The sun blinded me as we left the tunnel, heroes all yelling and cheering as we joined the other classes on the field since we were the last ones called. Midnight took her spot on the podium, cracking her whip to silence the crowd. As the cheering died down, she started her speech.
“I am here to welcome the first year festivities!” She cracked her whip and people in the crowd went crazy, mainly the men.
“But first, let’s hear it from our students! Lets give it up for our first place student from the entrance exam Bakugou Katsuki!” She motioned towards the blond hair boy in the group. People cheered as he made it onto the stage and quieted down as he began to speak.
“I just want to say ... I'm going to win” The students around us all started yelling at him about his ego.
“Come on! The other classes already hate us!” Kaminari said, exasperated.
“The rest of you are just stepping stones to my victory” I face palmed as he walks off the stage, causing more people to yell at him. What a wonderful way for him to introduce himself to the heroes. Good to know he never took my advice about public imagery.
“O-OK! Now that you heard from our students, let’s get down to the first activity of the day! It is an obstacle race around the stadium. To be a hero, you always have to keep on your toes and know how to work with different situations. Let's get to it!” She yelled, hyping up the crowd.
--------------------
We stood in the tunnel, waiting for the signal to start us. Everyone was trying to push to the front to get the best spot, but I placed myself towards the back. I saw many of my classmates spread throughout the tunnel, getting push and shoved by the other students.
“3!” A robotic voice came through the speakers. I saw many people power up their quirks ready to lunge forward.
“2!” I listened to the noises around me, the commotion powering up my quirk.
“1!” I crouched down, feeling the energy going throughout my body.
“Go!” A large blast of ice came from the front of the tunnel, freezing students in their places. Todoroki must’ve caused that. I controlled the air around me and jumped, pushing myself forwards. The energy bouncing off my skin made me light up the dark parts of the tunnel, so I probably looked like a shooting star. I made it over the frozen students and stopped using my quirk. I stumbled for a second, then caught myself to keep running. I saw in front of me a giant robot. What the fuck is that?? A large ice blast came over the legs, freezing the robot in place. Many students started to run through, but quickly stopped as we heard creaking.
“I froze it off balance on purpose” I heard Todoroki call out as he was gliding on ice, quickly making his way towards the front. The robot was coming down quickly, and I saw a student from the general studies class about to get crushed since they weren’t quick enough to run. I quickly sent out a barrier as the robot came down, making it burst through the other side. The student looked around in panic, still covering their head as they stood up. They looked at me and mouthed thank you with tears in their eyes. I was about to go help them out of the robot when I heard something bust out of the robot.
“AH I’M INDESTRUCTABLE” Kirishima yelled, quirk in full swing. Another sound was bursting out of the robot.
“AH I’M INDESTRUCTABLE” Tetsutetsu yelled out. The two boys looked at each other realizing they had similar quirks.
“Man, this isn’t cool at all. How will I stick out know” Kirishima sweat dropped, but quickly recovered himself.
I started running toward the next obstacle, but I caught out of the corner of my eye Izuku messing around with the robot. What is he doing? I pushed him out of my mind, focusing on what was ahead of me. Next obstacle was the Fall, a giant canyon. I made my way to the edge and looked down, not able to see the bottom.
“What will happen if someone falls down?” I asked out loud. I saw next to me Tsu making her way easily across the ropes. While I’m not afraid of heights, I would not enjoy falling down this. Many people already started to cross, so I decided to create a barrier along the top of the Fall, allowing me to walk over it comfortably. It did look like I was walking on air, causing a few confused looks from the other students. I was running to the next obstacle and read the sign for it.
“Mine field?” Are you kidding me? If I step on one of these, my quirk will go weird. I had to be careful crossing this since I didn’t want to overuse my quirk anymore than I needed to. Taking small steps at a time, I made it a good way across the field before I heard an explosion behind me. A large pink cloud erupted and I saw a piece of scrap metal fly across the sky.
“Izuku?” I asked outloud, seeing the tufts of green air whispering around in the wind. No way, he made it up to the front with Todoroki and Bakugou, and used them to launch him forwards! He was actually in the lead! I kept making my way across the minefield before reaching the end, lunging into a sprint towards the goal. I finally made it to the other side of the tunnel, signalling that I reached the end. I looked up at the score board and saw my name pop up.
“Top 16, perfect” I whispered to myself. Don’t want to stand out too much, will draw the wrong people to notice me. I saw a few of my other classmates entering the arena before Midnight called the cutoff, signalling that anyone else who entered wouldn’t make it to the next round. As the students came in, they all groaned in despair at their hard efforts going to waste. Hagakure came running in out of breath and walked up to me.
“Good job making it Y/N! Go out there and beat some butt!” she gave me a big hug before walking off with the other students who didn’t make it.
“Alright everybody! Lets give it up for the students who made it!!” I heard Present Mic’s voice come through the speakers. The crowd erupted into cheers and screaming.
“Ok listen up! The next challenge will be a calvary battle! Each student will be given a certain amount of points, with 42nd being worth 5, 41st being worth 10, so on and so forth” I calculated it in my head, and being in 12th place means I was worth 150 points. Not bad honestly.
“However, first place is a major exception to this rule being worth 1 million points!” Midnight yelled, and I felt everyone’s heads turn to Izuku. That boy is going to become a lamb to the slaughter.
“You have 15 minutes to get into groups of 2-4. Ready? GO!” Everyone began to scramble around, finding their groups. People were avoiding Izuku like the plague, afraid of him being the main target. I was going to walk up to him, but Momo grabbed my arm.
“Y/N, let's group up!” she smiled at me, pulling me over towards Iida and Shoto. The two quirked boy looked at me with a slightly off putting stare, but quickly changed his face once he noticed I was looking at him.
“So what's the plan?” I asked the group.
“You are the left leg and Momo is the right leg. Iida, you will be the front since you are the quickest” Todoroki explained our roles, and we all shook our heads in agreement.
“Will you be using both your quirks to protect the headbands?” Iida questioned.
“I will win this without using my fathers quirk” he then looked up into the stands at Endeavour, who was looking back at him. Oh, guess he also has some daddy issues too.
“I can create barriers to block people from the left” I was silently thankful I was able to rely heavily on defense for this round.
“The 15 minutes is up? ARE YOU READY!?” Present Mic yelled out through the loud speakers again, and I swear I was going to somehow lose hearing even though I was so far away from any of the speakers. We got into our positions, and I held onto Todoroki's left leg. Giving a look to Momo, she gave me one back. We were ready to give it our all for this.
“3! 2! 1! GO!” Midnight yelled out, and everyone began running around, trying to defend themselves and go after other groups. I felt like we moved as one unit, matching my footsteps up with Momo as Iida took the lead. Todoroki remained on guard, looking around at anyone who got too close.
“We are getting that headband” Todoroki said, and Iida changed direction. We approached Izuku’s team and were prepared to charge when Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow came out, rushing straight towards us. Momo quickly made a metal rod, hitting Dark Shadow back. We tried getting closer, but Dark Shadow has amazing defensive skills, blocking every opening we tried to find.
“I have an idea. Hold on tight” Iiida said, and I gripped tighter onto Todoroki's leg, feeling his leg muscles tighten.
“Recipro… BURST!” The pipes on Iida’s calves lit up and we lurched forward at an insane speed. It wasn’t close to what Hayato could go, but it was really really quick. I saw Todoroki extend his arm out as we got closer. Finally slowing down, I looked up and saw the wanted headband around Todoroki’s neck.
“YES!” I cheered and Momo smiled bigly.
“W-What just happened?!” I heard Izuku behind us. Todoroki told us to get away and protect the headband, and we began running around the arena, avoiding the other groups. Izuku’s group was coming in closer and closer, and I saw a familiar spark of One for All on Izuku’s arm come up as he reached out to us. A sudden warmth came over me, and I glanced up to see flames right above my head. He said he wasn’t going to use that quirk, did he do it out of fear? He looked as shocked as I was, quickly dispersing the flames and was going to reach around with his ice. Izuku was too quick, grabbing ahold of a headband before running away.
“No! We were so close!” Momo gave out a little groan, but Todoroki didn’t seem moved at all.
“He took the 70 point one. I moved the order around” I let out a sigh of relief. Izuku’s team charged at us again and I created a large barrier around the left of us and Momo held her rod to the right of us. The final 10 second countdown began as we got closer and closer to each other. A loud explosion was then heard and both our group and Izuku’s looked up, seeing Bakugou coming down to ambush us.
“DEKU!” he yelled out, reaching out for Izuku’s headbands. The final buzzer rang, and Bakugou fell to the ground in a slight fit. I looked over at Mina and Kirishima who were in his group, and they looked just as confused as we were.
“Let's get ready to announce the winners!” Midnight said, and a big screen behind her pulled up the scores. In first place, it was our group. Second, it was Bakugou and his group. In third was a student who I had never heard of, but his name was Shinso. He must be from one of the general studies courses. Good for him for making third. Then in fourth it was Izuku’s group. He apparently didn’t expect to place and broke out in tears, thanking the others in his group.
“Ok! It’s time for a lunch break, but after that it's time for the main event; the Battle Tournament!"
…. I need to find Hayato and Satoshi.

Chapter Text
“All you need to do is focus on defense, remember?” Hayato leaned against the wall across from me. I messaged them I needed reassurance, and we found a secluded place to talk.
“I know I’m just…”
“Scared?” Satoshi raised his eyebrow.
“No, not scared, just nervous” I sat on the floor, leaning my back against the wall.
“Do you need to eat? Could be because you are hungry” Satoshi suggested.
“I know I’m hungry,” Hayato chimed in.
“You are always hungry” I looked up at my brother.
“Shhh, it’s not my fault the food here is good. They have some juicy chicken and rice out there I just need to try”
“Can you at least try and comfort our sister?” Satoshi waved his arms exasperated.
“Food is always comforting. Come on” Hayato pulled on my arms and helped me up.
“Wait, wouldn’t it be weird if people saw me walking around with you?”
“Just say you are interested in working with us and are trying to network” Satoshi said as we walked out of the tunnel. A small clanking noise was heard behind us and we whipped our heads around, but saw nothing had changed.
“Weird” I said and Satoshi agreed.
“Probably some mouse or something. I remember there used to be a girl in the general studies class who talked to the mice here. It was cool” Hayato said as we began walking through all the stalls. The smells of all the foods made my stomach growl and I finally realized how hungry I was. Maybe Hayato was right, I probably was just hungry.
“Two chicken bowls please” Hayato placed his order at one of the booths and told us to keep walking around. Me and Satoshi eventually found a place serving curry ramen and placed our orders, taking them to a table nearby. He lifted up his mask slightly and took a bite, not allowing others to see his face.
“Have you seen anyone you wanted to scout yet?” I asked, biting down on a thick piece of chicken.
“Not yet, though I do like the one black haired girl that was on your team”
“Oh Momo! She’s one of my closest friends”
“Thats good. She’s really strong” he took another bite.
“What about Hayato? Did he see anyone?”
“He’s really interested in that Iida boy, but he's also interested in Hagakure as well”
“Why Hagakure?” I slurped up my noodles.
“It’s always good to teach another stealth hero the works, especially since her quirk isn’t exactly for fighting. Teaching her good hand to hand combat would help her a lot” he drank some of the broth from the bowl.
“She’s very sweet as well. Iida is also very good, but I think he’d want to work with his brother more than him”
“True, true. No harm in trying though”
“I guess” We sat in silence, eating the food that was in front of us before an alarm sounded, signalling the end of the break period.
“You’re going to do great out there” Satoshi placed his hand on my shoulder before walking away. I eventually joined the other students in the arena as they announced the bracket for the battles. However, Oijiro resigned from the competition and Tetsutetsu was put in his place. That’s weird, he made it this far. Why did he stop? I was going to ask Uraraka next to me what happened, but the screen changed to show us the first round of battles. I looked for my name and saw I was placed against Ibara from class 1-B. I looked around and saw her, eventually making eye contact. She gave me a soft smile, and I gave her one back. No point in being mean to competition. I did however feel Uraraka’s mood drop severely.
“Are you ok?” She didn’t respond. I turned my attention back up to the board and saw that she was against Bakugou.
“Hey, it’s ok” I placed my hand on her shoulder. Izuku and Iida came over to us, and Oijiro came up to Izuku. Apparently, the general studies guy has a mind control quirk. Izuku, Iida, and Oijiro eventually walked away, coming up with plans on how to defeat their opponents.
“Come on Uraraka, let’s come up with a plan to defeat Bakugou” I pulled on her arm slightly.
“Y-Yes! Let's do it!” her head perked up at me as we walked towards one of the waiting rooms.
---------------
“WHO’S READY FOR THE BATTLE BRACKET TO BEGIN!?” Present Mic yelled out to the crowd, hyping them up. The first group was Izuku and Shinso. I saw the general studies course cheer very loud for him, but I don’t think he noticed.
“From class 1-A, the boy who hasn’t shown his quirk yet Midoriya!” he gave a pause for the crowd to hype him up.
“And from the general studies course it's Shinso!” The crowd cheered more and more, ready for the first challenge to start. After Midnight signalled to start, they stood still for a moment. Izuku was cautious, not allowing Shinso to get into his head. I couldn’t hear anything they were saying, but something made Izuku snap and he rushed towards the purple-haired guy, yelling something before he stopped.
“Oh no Midoriya” Oijiro said, placing his head into his hands.
“What happened?” Sero asked him.
“Shino’s quirk is activated when someone responds to him. I told him not to say anything to him. He’s going to lose” I looked back out at the green haired boy. It was over for him as he walked towards the edge of the field.
“Whats this? Midoriya’s walking out of bounds?” Present Mic yelled out. He was a few steps from walking off before a large gust of wind came from him.
“What just happened?” Jirou asked, and no one knew. Izuku then charged towards Shinso, not responding to anything he was yelling at him. He started pushing him towards the edge, and eventually threw him over his shoulder, making him go out of bounds.
“MIDORIYA WINS THE FIRST ROUND” Midnight called out. Shinso stood up looking at Izuku before walking away defeated. He then looked up towards the group of general studies students all yelling out to him he did a great job and that it's ok. I could sense that lifted his mood.
The next round was Todoroki vs Sero, which didn’t last long since Todoroki just sent a giant block of ice out at him, freezing over half of the stadium. That’s definitely a way to get noticed. After that, it was me and Ibara, but our match was stalled to thaw out Sero and all the ice. After about 10 minutes, I made my way out of the viewing area and down the steps, calming my nerves before stepping out onto the field. The feeling of everyone's eyes on you and cheering made my blood rush to my heart. Relax, you’re going to be ok. Breath, just breath. I stood across from the green haired girl and smiled.
“Good luck!” I told her.
“You too Ito” she smiled.
“WHAT GREAT SPORTSMAN SHIP ALREADY!” Present Mic said. Is he somehow able to hear us down here?
“Ready… FIGHT!” Midnight signalled for us to start. Remain on defense, you’ll be ok. The sounds of the crowd filled my ears, allowing me to turn the energy into a big barrier. Ibara sent out a large amount of vines towards me, but nothing got across the barrier. I began to walk towards her, pushing her with the barrier towards the edge of the field. She tried pushing back more and more, but it wasn’t able to get past the barrier of energy. She eventually lost her balance from the constant pushing and fell backwards, making her land outside of the field.
“ITO WINS!” Midnight called. I let down my barrier and walked over towards Ibara.
“Good job” I held out my hand to her and she took it, allowing me to help her up.
“Good job to you too” she gave me a little bow before returning to the tunnel she came from. I also walked back towards mine, allowing me to return to my classmates.
“Good job Y/N!” Hagakure said as I sat down next to her.
“Yeah! That was really good!” Kirishima leaned over from where he was sitting behind me.
“Thank you guys” I smiled at them, turning my attention back towards the field. Next up was Iida and a girl from the support course named Hatsume. She was out there literally torturing the poor guy, placing a punch of random gadgets on him and showing them off.
“Is this even allowed?” Present Mic asked, engaging the crowd.
“Support courses are allowed to show off their creations” I heard Aizawa’s voice come through the speakers now, forgetting for a second that he was Present Mic’s co-host.
“Do you think Iida’s even going to fight back?” Kaminari asked.
“Maybe, if he’s able to get out of those leg supports” Sero giggled a little bit. Eventually, Hatsume showed off all her “babies” and walked out of the field.
“IIDA WINS” Midnight said, and Iida was still slightly dazed at what just happened as he walked off the field.
After that it was Mina vs Aoyama, which also went really quickly since Mina knocked him out of bounds really quickly. Then it was Momo and Tokoyami. She was able to hold him off for a small amount of time, but Dark Shadow eventually pushed her out of bounds. When Momo came back up, she looked defeated but kept trying to smile.
“You did really good Momo” I told her.
“I don’t really feel like I did”
“You held your own for a while. I knew if I tried to fight Dark Shadow one on one I would lose too” I gave her a soft smile and she eventually looked me in the eyes, allowing some of her sadness to wash away.
“Thank you Y/N, you’re a great friend” I felt a warmth in my heart grow and we turned back to watching the fights. Next was Tetsutetsu and Kirishima, where they knocked each other out. No one knew who was the winner, so they eventually turned it into an arm wrestling competition. It looked like Kirishima was fighting himself honestly. The red head eventually won, giving Tetsutetsu a firm high five. So manly, I laughed at my thought. Momo looked at me a little confused, but decided to ignore it.
It was finally the last match of the first round between Bakugou and Uraraka. As they took the field, I silently held my breath. I really hope Uraraka will win this round, especially after all the planning we did. She’s strong, a lot stronger than people give her credit for. Midnight signalled to begin, and Bakugou gave off rounds of explosions. Uraraka dogged them, silently touching the debris allowing it to float up into the air. As long as she keeps his eyes on her, the plan will work.
“Come on, come on” I leaned forward in my seat, eyes locked on the brown haired girl. It kept going like this for about another minute before Bakugou stopped, losing her in the smoke. Once it cleared, she released her quirk, rocks falling from the sky. It looked like it was about to crush Bakugou, and I stood up quickly in my seat.
“Yes! Come on Uraraka!” I cheered, but it was cut short by Bakugou raising his arm up, releasing a large explosion, destroying the rocks into nothing but dust. I sat down defeated, knowing now that she’s not going to win. I still held some hope though. He released a large blast towards her hitting her straight on.
“Come on! Go easy on the girl!”
“This is unsportsmanlike!” I heard the heroes around us yell. I stood up and made eye contact with one of them.
“She is not weak! Stop treating her like she is! She can hold her own!” I yelled at them, making them lose eye contact with me, looking away ashamed.
“Woah Y/N, that was really manly of you” I looked back at Kirishima.
“Just because she’s a girl does not mean that she’s weak. She’s a lot stronger than you think” I spoke up for my friend. Eventually though, Uraraka passed out from exhaustion on the field, being taken off on a stretcher to Recovery Girl’s office. I began to walk my way down there with Momo, making sure the other girl was ok since there was a break between rounds. We entered the room as the old lady gave Uraraka a kiss, waking her up.
“You did so good Uraraka” I sat at her side holding her hand.
“Did I?”
“Yes, I don’t know if you could tell but you surprised Bakugou. His face looked shocked when he looked up and saw the rocks coming down”
“I still don’t feel like I did good” she squeezed my hand.
“We are only starting out as heroes. There’s still so much time to train and get better” I told her, squeezing her hand back.
“We should be getting back up soon, they’ll be announcing the next rounds” Momo suggested.
“Am I ok to go back up?” Uraraka asked Recovery Girl.
“Yes, just take it easy for a little bit and remember to eat” she handed Uraraka a small piece of chocolate before we walked back upstairs.
“Did we miss anything?” Uraraka asked, sitting down next to Iida.
“Not yet” he said to her.
“You ok Izuku?” I sat next to the green haired boy as he was muttering something to himself.
“H-Huh? Yeah I’m ok!” He clearly was hiding something, but I decided not to pry. Midnight then came back out onto the field, telling us it was time for the next round. The screen flashed and showed us the next pairings.
“Alright! Are you ready to fight Iida?” I looked over to the boy in glasses.
“Yes! May the best person win!”

“So he made you guys dress up in cheerleader outfits?” I looked at the photo on Uraraka’s phone, resting my head slightly on her shoulder.
“It was so embarrassing! I can’t believe he was able to trick us!” Mina slumped into her seat.
“I’m so happy I wasn’t there for all of that. You guys should’ve went to go get some food instead” I told the girls around me.
“We wanted to, but Kaminari said that it was important and from Aizawa” Jirou looked away, slightly filled with shame. In the photo, she looked severely uncomfortable by the whole thing. One other thing I did notice though was she was standing and looking really closely at Momo.
“We should beat them up!” Mina yelled out, and Jirou and Hagakure agreed.
“I don’t think violence will solve anything” Momo said.
“We could get Sero to hang them up by their feet” I swear I felt an evil smirk on Hagakure’s face.
“How does it feel you two are going into the second round?” Tsu came over to ask me and Mina.
“I’m so excited! I hope Tokoyami is ready for a real showdown!” Mina pumped her fist into the air, looking back at the crow headed boy. He gave her a small nod, acknowledging her little challenge.
“We should be starting soon” Jirou pulled out her phone to check the time.
“Who’s the first match up again?” Uraraka asked.
“It’s Y/N and Iida, so get going!” Mina began to push me towards the exit as the other girls wished me luck. I waved goodbye to them as I made my way down the steps towards the tunnel, waiting for my cue to enter the field.
“You got this, come on” I jumped back and forth slightly, hyping myself up. If I can defend myself against Hayato, I can defend myself against Iida. Just use my barriers, that’s all I need to do. I could feel my heart starting to race, not knowing if it was from nerves or from the coffee I drank this morning finally kicking in.
“You’re on” one of the workers came up to me, and I made my way back onto the field. The second time being out there was surprisingly more nerve racking than the first since now I had more to lose. I just have to get past this, focus on the goal ahead of me.
“Are you ready for a good match Ito?” Iida asked as he took his place on the other side of the field.
“Yes! Let’s give it our all!” I gave him a thumbs up and he smiled, getting into position. As soon as Midnight said begin, I saw the familiar light glowing off of his engines. I quickly made a barrier as he started running towards me. I was expecting it to stop him so I could push him backwards off the field, but what I wasn’t expecting is that as soon as he hit it he went flying backwards and somehow landed out of bounds.
“ITO WINS!” Present Mic announced. I quickly ran over to make sure that Iida was ok, but he stood up quickly, recovering himself.
“Good job Ito” he said to me, a small smile on his face.
“Are you ok? I didn’t expect you to bounce back like that I’m so sorry” I said with concern in my voice.
“Of course! It was a good defense Ito!”
“You don’t need to call me Ito, you can call me Y/N”
“O-Ok then Y/N! I shall continue watching your battles and cheering you on!” he smiled and chopped the air before walking away to the tunnel. I took my turn and left, meeting back up with everyone in the stands.
“That was really good Y/N! It looked like he bounced off a trampoline!” Hagakure moved her seat to get closer to me.
“I really wasn’t expecting him to bounce back that much” I sheepishly rubbed the back of my neck.
“You make it to the semi-finals though!” Uraraka cheered for me.
“I hope you make it there with me Mina” I turned towards the pink skinned girl as she got up to leave for her battle.
“I’ll see you there Y/N” she smiled cheekily at me before walking out of the stands. Up next was Mina vs. Tokoyami. As soon as they took the field, I saw out of the corner of my eye Iida get up and leave. I was about to ask Uraraka what happened, but Midnight signaled the fight to begin. Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow came out rapidly, trying to push Mina out of the field, but she used her acid to slide away. She sprayed some out of her hands, making Dark Shadow recoil back to Tokoyami, swirling around him. They were coming up with a plan on how to proceed. Mina was approaching him, but then Dark Shadow was able to get around the back of her, pushing her out of the field. Looks like Tokoyami was also using defense as a tactic instead of attacking.
“TOKOYAMI WINS!” The crowd erupted into cheers as Mina and Tokoyami walked off of the field.
“Man, I thought I would’ve gotten him” Mina came back up, slumping into her seat and crossing her arms.
“You did very good Mina! Your reaction time was insane and you definitely kept him on his toes” I placed my hand onto her shoulder.
“Thank you Y/N” she gave me a weak smile. The next battle was between Kirishima and Bakugou which went pretty much as expected. As strong as Kirishima is, the constant blasting of Bakugou’s quirk wore him down. Eventually, Bakugou pinned Kirishima down, immobilizing him from continuing.
“I really hope you aren’t up against Bakugou for the next round” Hagakure said next to me, looking down at the boy walking off of the field.
“Yeah, he’s insane out there today” Uraraka agreed to Jirou’s comment.
“Has something gotten into him?” Mina asked, but no one else in the class could answer. Bakugou and Kirishima returned to the stands. While Kirishima looked pleaded with himself and his placement, Bakugou slouched down in a seat far away from everyone else. He kept glaring over at me every now and again.
The final battle of the second round was between Todoroki and Izuku. As the split haired boy walked up onto the field, I saw from the other side of the stand Endeavour stand up, making his way towards the railing. The battle began as expected, Todoroki sending out a large blast of ice. Izuku flicked his fingers, a large gust of wind whipping back at Todoroki and shattering the ice. Todoroki moved again, more and more ice blasting towards Izuku. This went back and forth until all the fingers in both of his hands were broken.
“He’s going to lose his hands at this rate” I whispered to myself. Then he did something that surprised me.. He used the broken fingers by snapping them out of his mouth. He was breaking them more and more. Todoroki looked taken aback at how the green haired boy was destroying himself. They began arguing with each other, and I was unable to hear the words coming out of their mouths. Todoroki charged at the boy, but he got punched by Izuku straight in the stomach, sending him flying backwards. More and more words were spoken back and forth until a large burst of flames came out of Todoroki. Endeavour began to shout at the boy about finally going past his teenage rebellion and how he’ll be the best hero and surpass All Might, but it looked like Todoroki didn’t care for what he had to say, instead his eyes were set onto Izuku. They both powered up their quirks, ready to hit each other. Midnight and Cementos quickly sprung into action, getting ready to stop them since it was going too far. It didn’t help though, as the explosion of the ice, fire, and One for All made the cement walls build become destroyed in an instance, shooting the rocks and debris all over the place. It began to come towards us quickly, and I made a barrier in front of the viewing area, trying to cover as much area as I could. Once the dust settled and I knew it was clear, I finally put down the barrier. A few heroes and the class next to us looked at me in shock.
“Woah…” I heard Kirishima say behind me.
“Are you guys ok?” I looked around at my classmates and they all shook their heads yes. I turned my gaze back onto the field, seeing Izuku laying on the ground and Todoroki standing upright. He barely had a scratch on him while Izuku laid there, arms and legs broken being taken out by Recovery Girl’s stretcher.
“Wow! What a way to end the second round! Let’s give it up for Todoroki for winning!” Present Mic got the audience in an uproar of excitement. THe screen flickered again, showing the bracket for the semi-finals.
“Oh no, you’re up against Todoroki” Mina clutched my arm. After seeing his power using both of his quirks, I was afraid of what was going to happen to me. I am either going to be boiled or frozen alive. The other match was between Tokoyami and Bakugou, who would go next after the small break.
“We should get you something to drink before the next round to give you some energy. Come on!” Hagakure pulled on my arm. Me and her walked outside of the viewing area to find a vending machine.
“You’re doing great out there Y/N!” She complimented me as we walked around looking.
“I feel like I may die if I walk out onto that field”
“Don’t say that! I think you’ll hold your own against him” I felt her smiling with her voice. I shrugged my shoulders slightly and gave a small laugh. Finally finding a soda machine, I tapped my phone and ordered a cola.
“Do you want anything?”
“No but-” she was cut off by a loud explosion. The break must’ve ended already, and we quickly made our way back to the viewing area. Bakugou and Tokoyami were going at it, explosions flying all over the field. Dark Shadow was having a hard time keeping up, trying to avoid the explosions. Bakugou then send out a large burst of them, causing Tokoyami to shrink away, letting Bakugou pin Tokoyami down and winning the match.
“So if I win I have to go against that!?” I looked over at Momo and Jirou, who looked at me with sympathy.
“Can I resign?” I put my head into my palms, silently weeping inside. He’s going to kill me if I win.
“You’re going to do a great Y/N! You’re so manly!” Kirishima placed his hand on my shoulder and gave me a toothy smile.
“Thanks Kirishima, but I’m not indestructible like you” My healing quirk can only go so far, and I still feel all of the pain of the injury.
“Time for the second round of the semi-finals! Are you ready to see who goes against the explosive Bakugou?” I heard my cue to get up and go downstairs, ready to start the fight. Standing in the tunnel again, I had two choices; lose to Todoroki, or lose to Bakugou. Neither of them seem like a solid option, but I’d rather lose to Todoroki than be exploded into a million pieces.
“Good luck” the workers said as I left the tunnel. Standing on the field, I looked at the boy in front of me, ready to give it my all even if I must accept defeat.
“Let's get ready!” Present Mic yelled through the speakers. The crowd was getting louder and louder, filling my quirk up.
“THeheh-ghjyjyj-setggg” static began to go through the speakers as Present Mic was cut off. I looked up to Midnight, confused as to what was going on? Whispers and voices of confusion rippled throughout the crowd. The screen that was broadcasting the bracket flickered on and off before settling on a video.
I felt my heart drop and blood go cold. Sweat began to form on my forehead and palms. On the screen was a man in a familiar blue suit and silver mask. No, no, this can’t be happening, not now in front of everyone please. Energy began to bubble in my chest as I tried to hold it together.
“So sorry for the interruption”

THE DAY... HAS COME!!!
Chapter 20: Control Yourself (Sports Festival Part Four)
Chapter Text
“So sorry for the interruption” father’s voice came through the loud speaker. Everyone started to talk amongst each other, questioning how a villain hacked into the feed. I saw all the heroes on edge in case there was an attack.
“I didn’t realise that my daughter was partaking in this year's events. I just wanted to get a good view of my daughter’s shining moments” he heavily enunciated the word daughter when he spoke. I felt everyone’s eyes turning towards me, energy threatening to burst out of my body. Black sparks began heavily taking over my body, and I was unable to see my skin anymore.
“Villain?”
“She’s his daughter?”
“What;’s going on?” I heard people in the crowd ask, my hearing getting more and more sensitive as all my senses got more and more on edge. As soon as I heard them, the energy exploded out of me, black energy releasing out of my body. The wind around me began to whip, creating a small tornado around me of thick black wind, sparks bouncing everywhere.
“YOU’RE A VILLAIN. THAT’S ALL YOU’LL EVER BE” the voice came into me.
“SHUT UP!” I yelled out, not carrying if I was talking to myself. No one was able to see or hear me due to the tornado around me.
“LOOK AT HOW THEY ALL SEE YOU. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HIS DAUGHTER”
“NO I’M NOT”
“YES YOU ARE” energy crackled around me as I lost my mind more and more.
“Yes you are” the voice was no longer in my head, but instead to my left. I looked up and a small black figure slowly took form. Upon closer inspection, it was a small shadow person with eyes crackling with white energy.
“Who are you?” I whispered out to them, finally being able to think somewhat clearly with no voice in my head.
“I’m you” Her voice was small and quiet now, much different from what it was in my head.
“What the hell do you want from me? Why are you doing this!?” I yelled out in anger towards the small shadow person.
“What do you mean?”
“Look around us” I motioned to the whipping air. I heard voices trying to break past the wind, but nothing was able to come through.
“I..”
“Why?” I walked closer to her, and she flinched. I took a step back, sensing fear in my own body. She really is the smaller version of me. White lines went down her cheeks as tears went down mine.
“I’m sorry” her little voice cracked as she curled up into herself on the ground.
“Why?” I asked again, carefully making my voice gentle.
“I just wanted to protect everyone” she murmured to herself. I looked at her, not knowing what to say.
“I’m so afraid, I don’t want to hurt people or have anyone hurt us. I’m so scared of becoming like him. I don’t want to end up like mommy” I finally realized what was going on. She’s stuck at what happened that night, constantly reliving that moment every time I used my quirk. The stuff father said, the stuff we saw, she constantly is reliving that. Thinking about father wanting us to become a villain, mom dying and the fear on my brother’s faces as they tried to protect me and run for help.
“Y/N” I whispered out to her. She looked up at me, tears running down both of our faces.
“I don’t want to keep being hurt, but I don’t want to hurt others” the wind around us raged on.
“I can’t promise you that we won’t protect everyone or ourselves… but I will try so hard to do so”
“How can I trust you will?” black electricity crackled more and more.
“Look at our friends, look at our family. They try so hard to support us, we can at least try to trust them”
“And what if they don’t”
“Then we will move on”
“I’m scared”
“I will be there the entire time. You are in my head, I will still hear you and take care of us. He won’t harm us anymore” I reached my hand out to her and she held it. I pulled her up, and she wrapped her arms around me, holding me tightly.
“I promise you I will protect everyone I can, but I will protect you the most” I looked down at her, and she looked up at me. Light slowly started taking over the black on her body, creating a large burst of white. The wind around me got quicker and electricity continued, but changing rapidly between black and white, creating a beautiful pattern.
“I trust you” she whispered as she faded away. A large explosion occurred around me as the energy in my body became painful, then suddenly sweet and calm. The wind and electricity died down, and the view of the stadium slowly came back into view. I looked around me, standing inside of a crater due to the wind. The sky turned a deep gray from the bright blue it was before. Beyond that, everything was the same. Nobody was hurt, but everyone was on guard.
“Ito are you ok?” Midnight asked, quirk slowly seeping out of her in case I were to attack.
“I… I don’t know” I looked up at her, and noticed behind her the screen was cracked where the broadcast was coming through. I looked down at my hands, shaking from what just happened. My mind has never felt so clear before. Midnight began to walk over to me, quirk slowly letting out to allow me to relax a little bit.
“I recommend you to not continue in this state” she held onto my shoulders.
“Keep going” I heard younger me in my head, this time not with the usual pain of screaming but in a murmur.
“I… I can keep going”
“Ito I don’t think-”
“Let me keep going. Please” She gave me a look with saddened eyes.
“We will be taking a 20 minute break to resume the matches and fix the field!” Midnight’s attitude changed, cracking her whip into the air. The crowd cheered loudly.
“Why are they cheering? Didn’t they see we were his daughter?” younger me asked.
“As long as we prove ourselves worthy of being a hero, we have nothing to worry about” I whispered to myself as I walked off the field to recollect myself. As soon as I entered the tunnel, I was immediately tackled into a hug by two large bodies. Looking up, I saw Satoshi and Hayato without their hero masks on, fear covering their faces.
“Y/N are you ok?”
“What happened?”
“Why are you continuing to fight?” they bombarded me with questions. I really had no idea what to tell them what happened, I don’t even know.
“I… feel a lot better”
“How? We thought you were going to die out there! Todoroki sent large spikes of ice out to try and stop the wind but they broke the ice immediately!” He tried to help me?
“I can’t describe what happened, but it feels like all the energy in me got released and-”
“Y/N!” I looked down the hall and saw the girls running towards me. Mina and Uraraka ran the quickest towards me, pulling me into a hug.
“What the hell was that? Are you ok??” Mina had tears in her eyes, and Uraraka looked panicked.
“I… don’t really know what happened” I confessed.
“Y/N, are you doing ok mentally?” Momo came up and placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Surprisingly a lot better”
“Why didn’t you tell us! We wouldn't have judged you!” Uraraka gave me a large hug.
“I… I was so scared of being told I was just like him in any way that I would just avoid it in general. I’m sorry” I lowered my head to the girls.
“Y/N, you’re nothing like him,” Jirou said, giving me a small smile.
“Yeah! You try to help us with training and schoolwork and constantly encourage us. What villain would do that?” Mina asked me, flicking my forehead slightly.
“You don’t need to be sorry Y/N” Tsu reassured me. I stood there for a second looking at the girls around me before letting more tears fall down my face.
“I love you guys” I pulled them all in for a big hug. They all got in close, squeezing me into the middle before letting go.
“We love you too Y/N, but who are those guys?” Hagakure asked, pointing to my brothers.
“Wait, are you guys Paradox and Marksman!” Mina squealed, recognizing my brother’s hero suits.
“Uhhhh” they just looked at each other, not realizing they weren’t wearing their masks to hide their identity.
“They are… ummm…” I stuttered, trying to come up with an excuse until Satoshi answered for me.
“We are her older brothers”
“Woah! You have heroes in your family? That's so cool!” Uraraka’s eyes lit up. If I told her my mom was a hero as well, I think she may have a heart attack.
“Y-Yeah” I rubbed the back of my neck.
“Trust us, we won’t tell anyone your identities” Momo said, and the other girls nodded their heads.
“Thank you” Hayato let out a breath, turning towards me.
“Please, don’t go back out ther. You aren’t in the right mind-”
“I am going to show people what I can do” he was slightly taken aback by me cutting him off, but finally shook his head and gave me a hug.
“Good luck out there, Y/N L/N” Satoshi joined in on the hug, whispering our real last name. I will no longer be afraid of who I truly am.
“You’re going to do great Y/N!” Hagakure gave me a hug before turning to walk away. The other girls waved goodbye with words of encouragement to return back up to their seats. I had 5 minutes left to myself in the tunnel, so I just sat there breathing and trying to relax.
“What if people judge us?”
“Let them. We have our friends”
“...they’re nice”
“They really are. Now let’s show them what we can do” I hyped myself up, bouncing side to side to get back into the competition headspace. A new feeling went through me, not like pride or confidence; it was a desire to prove myself. I don’t want to be seen as his daughter, I don’t want to be seen as my brothers’ sister, nor do I even want to be seen as my moms daughter. I want to be known as Y/N, and I will show the world I am here to be a hero. I will control my future.
“You're on. Good luck!” the worker smiled at me as I left the tunnel. With each step, the words of everyone I care about rang in my ears. I will show my brothers I have what it takes to be a hero. I will show my friends they can rely on me and don’t have to fear my quirk. I will show Toshinori that I will not let mom’s memories die in vain. Most importantly, I will show the world I am here to protect them. I will protect the ones who can’t speak out and the ones where no one will listen to them
“Sorry about the delay listeners, let’s get this party started!” Present Mic was now able to speak fully through the speakers again. The crowd cheered, and I even heard people cheering me on by name. I looked at Todoroki across from me. Something changed in the way he looked at me, but I couldn’t tell what. As Midnight raised her hand up in the air to signal the start, I felt the sounds around me, absorbing it all in. Sparks of black and white began crackling along my skin, but I felt fully in control.
“START” she yelled, and ice came towards me rapidly. I released a burst of energy off of my body, and it proceeded to make the ice explode. I then controlled the wind, sending the shards of ice flying towards Todoroki. He quickly tried to send out another blast of ice, but couldn’t make much before it shattered again. I needed to get closer to him, he’s only good at long range attacks. Using the wind to push me forward, I rushed towards him as he created more ice. Making a barrier, the ice pushed up against it and moved upwards, creating a giant vertical ice wall between us. I quickly stopped, trying to come up with a way to go around it. Then I realized it’s just ice, I can kick through it. Swinging my leg forward, the ice shattered into a million pieces, falling down onto us like raining icicles. While Todoroki used ice to make a shield, I stood there. The ice began to pelt against my skin, creating small cuts along it. As soon as the cuts appeared, they quickly healed over. Todoroki looked at me confused as to how I was still standing after the small shower.
“How are you not hurt?” he yelled out to me in confusion more than anger. He was starting to get tired and panicking, I could see it in the way he was standing.
“You aren’t the only one with two quirks Todoroki” I crouched down, ready to lunge at the boy.
“Are you ready to finish this yet?” I asked Todoroki.
“Come at me with everything you got” there was the look on his face again, but it was mixed with a declaration of the challenge he said earlier.
“Only if you are able to give me everything you got” I smirked as ice and fire began to spread across the boy. A mix of electricity, fire, and ice began to swirl around us as I picked up the wind. As we both sent out our quirks, I felt the energy fully leave my body for once as I let everything go out of me in this one attack. As the final sparks left my hands, I crumbled to the ground, panting and breathing heavily at the feeling of exhaustion. It was exhilarating to feel tired physically after I used my quirk rather than mentally. The smoke began to clear, and across from me wasn’t Todoroki on the field. Instead, I blew him backwards into the wall of the stadium where he is slumped along the ground. A large crater showed the path of destruction between me and him, some small flames still sparking around.
“Todoroki is out of bounds Y/N wins!” Midnight called the score, and I finally fell into darkness, letting the warmth come over me.
“We did it”
Chapter 21: Champions (Sports Festival Part Five)
Chapter Text
“Mhmmmm” I slowly opened my eyes and looked around me. I was back in Recovery Girl’s office in my torn gym clothes. I looked down at my arms and saw some small black and white sparks and began to trace my fingers along them before they dispersed.
“You had quite an explosion out there dear” I turned and saw the short lady writing stuff at her desk.
“Y-Yeah…”
“I’m surprised you were able to keep it under control. Toshinori warned us at the beginning of the year you might have an accident with your quirk”
“He did?” I asked confused but slightly relieved.
“You seem to have broken past what was holding you back, especially in front of almost the entire Japan hero world” she finally turned towards me.
“I wasn’t really expecting that to happen today”
“A lot of news articles are already making stories about you”
“Good ones?” I asked hopefully.
“Yes, very good ones” She turned back to her desk and pulled up a tab on her computer with the headline “Villain’s Daughter Is A Hero? Is The Age Of Villanry Over?”.
“They see you as a symbol of hope for overcoming villainy" she gave me a smile.
“I don’t know about all of that…” I sheepishly said.
“Take it with pride Ito, you are a very strong girl with the past and wanting to change the future. Just keep showing the world what you have” She took my hand and placed a small candy in it. I unwrapped it and popped it into my mouth.
“They gave you a 20 minute break to recover before the finals. Are you ready?” she stood up and grabbed her cane.
“Can I have another pair of gym clothes?” I pulled at the ripped fabric that barely covered my body.
“In that closet over there” she pointed towards a metallic closet surrounded by medical cabinets.
“Thank you Recovery Girl” I told her as she walked out of the room.
“I’ll be watching you” she smiled and closed the door.
“Ok… lets do this”
------------------
“Are you ready for the final round of this year’s freshman battle bracket!?” Present Mic yelled and got the crowd hyped up. The cheering and screaming bounced off the walls of the tunnel as I walked out, and got even louder as me and Bakugou stood across from each other on the field.
“From Class 1-A, the fiery explosion of power, its Bakugou Katsuki!” the crowed cheered for him, but he didn’t make any expression. His eyes were locked onto me, something etched in his face that I couldn't read. It looked similar to Todoroki’s, but not quite there.
“And from also Class 1-A, who I’m personally routing for, its the electrifying powerhouse Ito Y/N!” I smiled lightly at the crowd cheering for me, and I especially heard my friends up in the stands yelling louder than anyone else.
“Are you two ready?” Midnight asked, whip in hand. I looked at her and nodded, but Bakugou didn’t say anything, just gave her a quick glance she took as an agreement. As she raised her whip, I let the sound from the crowd enter me as electricity bounced off of my skin. As soon as she cracked her whip, Bakugou let out a large set of explosions, making him fly towards me. I quickly set up a barrier, but he stopped right before it.
“Too weak to fight huh?” He gave me a low smirk, trying to get me riled up like he did when we used to spar back in middle school. I lowered the barrier, turning that energy into energy in my arms.
“Never” I got into a fighting stance and was about to attack before he set out large explosions at me. I let out a tiny barrier and used it to push him back, making distance between us.
“FIGHT ME DAMN IT! STOP USING THOSE FUCKING BARRIERS!” he yelled, charging at me. As soon as he got close enough, I swung my leg into his ribs, sending him flying backwards. I heard a small crunch as I did so, wincing to myself. It didn’t seem to bother him as he stood up, looking at me with a weird intent to kill me. He charged again, and I quickly dodged, allowing the wind to pull me to the side. I don’t want to hurt him too badly, I still have no idea what the limits of my quirk is now. I’m scared for what I did to Todoroki
“FIGHT ME LIKE YOU DID WITH THAT HALF AND HALF BASTARD!” he yelled, charging at me.
“IM NOT TRYING TO KILL YOU BAKUGOU” I sent a large sweep of air towards him, knocking him almost out of bounds.
“FIGHT ME!” I took a good look at his face as he got closer. Anger, pain, confusion, and something else. He got close enough and sent a large explosion into my face before I was able to react, sending me to the ground. The burning sensation on my face hurt for a second before the warmth came in as I felt the skin underneath return to normal. I quickly wiped at my face, sending my charred skin to the ground in a thick layer as my regular skin stayed on my face.
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?” Somehow, that pissed Bakugou off even more that I was able to get up. At this point, I didn’t want to answer him anymore, I just needed this battle to be over as I felt exhaustion creeping in slowly. Feeling the energy coming from my arms, I pushed the air around us and directed it towards him. He tried to send explosions out, but the wind limited it to where it could spread. The wind lifted him up into the air and pushed him out of bounds.
“Ito wins!” Midnight called, but Bakugou didn’t like that. He got up and began to charge towards me. I wanted to fight back, but exhaustion took me in as I hit the ground hard.
-----------
“Good to see you are back” Recovery Girl said, slight sarcasm in her voice. I slowly sat up, muscles aching all over.
“Wasn’t planning on coming back” I dryly said, stretching out and massaging my shoulders.
“The award ceremony just finished”
“Aw I missed it?” I took the candy out of her hand, popping it into my mouth. A sweet orange taste bursted into my mouth.
“All Might will soon be bringing down your award. You are lucky you weren’t up there”
“Why?”
“That boy, Bakugou. They had to chain him up due to him lashing out. He said it wasn’t a fair fight and wanted a rematch” she rewinded the TV on the wall a little bit, stopping when All Might handed him. Chains and quirk blockers were placed onto him, and his eyes were going crazy. He didn’t look like himself at that point.
“Yeah… I’m kind of glad I wasn’t out there” I flopped back onto the bed, stretching myself out more. Recovery Girl turned to continue working at her desk when the door opened. I lifted my head slightly and saw Toshinori and my brothers walk into the room.
“Are you doing ok?” Toshinori asked quietly. Hayato and Satoshi sat on the bed next to me.
“Yeah, just tired” I sat up groaning.
“Do… Do you want to talk about what happened out there?”
“I mean… I don’t really know how to explain it. I feel… free” I held out my hand and sent tiny sparks of my quirk into the air.
“What happened in that tornado?” Toshinori asked me, holding my hand that just sparked up.
“... I talked to younger me. It was a good talk”
“Talk in what way?” Hayato asked, confused.
“Like my quirk created a physical version of younger me and I talked to her. I’ve been holding in so much of what happened to me when I was younger that my quirk personified it during that moment”
“Did that happen when you two awoke your quirks?” Toshinori turned to my brothers.
“No”
“Nope”
“Y/N, we need to keep an eye on this. Your mother never had this happen to her, so I’m not sure what is going to happen to you next” Toshinori’s eyes were filled with concern.
“Should I stop using my quirk?” I asked, slightly upset.
“No, we need you to keep using it to see the limits of what you can and cannot do,” Satoshi answered.
“You are basically relearning your quirk since you no longer know your limits. You will be training a lot more from now on until you get a grasp on it” Hayato spoke.
“You guys are soon starting to do your internships. You will work with us” Satoshi had a stern look on his face.
“Shouldn’t you guys be trying to work with the other students though?” I suggested.
“The chances of them choosing us are slim. Most already have an idea of who they want, and heroes have an idea of who they want. You are going to work with us on both your quirk and public appearance” Hayato said.
“What’s wrong with my public appearance?”
“You have been outed as the daughter of a major villain. While many people look up to you, there’s still going to be people who doubt your motives”
“... Fine. I’ll work with you guys”
Chapter 22: Codename: Surge
Chapter Text
I groaned as I slowly got out of bed under the warm covers. My alarm on my phone was blaring, and I heard Hayato slam his hand against the wall telling me to turn it off. I groaned as I took the covered off to place on my school uniform. As I looked at myself in the mirror for the first time, I screamed.
“WHAT!” Hayato and Satoshi ran into the room at an alarming pace before looking at me.
“What is this!?” I pointed at my arms. My veins now have turned bright white instead of the regular blue-ish tone they had.
“Huh…” Satoshi had a very confused look on his face.
“Is it anywhere else?” Hayato walked over to me inspecting my arms.
“I dont know I just noticed them!” I started to pull down my stocking and they were also on my thighs and calves.
“Take off your shirt let’s look at your chest and back” Satoshi motioned.
“NO I’M NOT STRIPPING IN FRONT OF YOU!!”
“YOU ACT LIKE WE WOULD ENJOY IT???” Hayato smacked me in the back of the head. I groaned and slipped off my shirt making sure my chest was still covered.
“There’s nothing on the back or your stomach”
“Nothing on my chest either” I moved the shirt slightly to look.
“This is weird. Do you feel any different?”
“No it literally just happened overnight” I put my shirt back on and tucked it into my skirt.
“Should we bring her to a dermatologist?” Satoshi suggested.
“I don’t think they’d have anything for glowing skin” Hayato still looked at my arms and legs confused.
“Hmmm…. Y/N try using your quirk real quick” the both stood back as I let a few sparks bounce off of my hands. The white in my veins grew brighter in my arms, but stayed the same on my legs.
“Now use your quirk on your legs” sparks bounced off of my legs as the white got brighter and my arms got duller.
“Interesting, it looks like the energy is flowing straight through you constantly”
“Do you feel energized?”
“A little bit more than I’m used to,” I confessed.
“So then this is just your body having too much energy in it that it is constantly flowing through you. Must be from you awakening your quirk”
“So nothing much to worry about?” I looked up at them.
“Nah, just make sure to keep an eye on them if anything changes” Hayato said as he walked out the door back to bed.
“Are you ready for school?” Satoshi turned towards me.
“Yeah, just wondering how my classmates are going to react to me being lit up like a light bulb" I joked and he gave me a small laugh.
“Looks like we have to redesign your suit to keep up with the new energy. I’ll send in a form to me and Hayato’s designer so you’ll have it in time for internships” he left the room, pulling out his phone to make a call. I quickly grabbed my bookbag and keys and made my way out of the apartment onto the street. I heard people as I walked by talk about me at the sports festival, surprisingly in a good light. I heard a few snide remarks here and there, but I decided to ignore them.
-----------
“Y/N you are glowing!” Mina said as I entered the classroom, drawing a lot of attention to me.
“Wow! What happened?” Uraraka asked me, looking closely at my skin.
“I don’t know, I woke up and it was just here” I looked exasperated.
“It’s really pretty” Hagakure came up and touched my arm, the energy in my veins feeling warm against her skin.
“You’re like a small heater!” Uraraka and Hagakure held onto my arms, using me to warm them up.
“I can't move” I looked up at Momo for help, but she just giggled at me.
“Alright, quiet down” A gruff voice came into the classroom. We turned and saw Aizawa without his bandages on.
“Woah! You look a lot better sensei” Kaminari commented and Kirishima agreed.
“Just because you have finished the sports festival does not mean your challenge is done yet. It’s time for internships” he began to write on the board starting from the bottom. I felt Izuku gulp as Aizawa put his name on the bottom with zero offers. As he wrote more and more, I saw Bakugou got 3,556 offers and Todoroki got 4,123.
“Even though Bakugou placed 2nd, he still got more offers than Todoroki” Jiruo pointed out.
“Most likely from my father’s influence” I heard Todoroki say with slight distaste in his tone. Aizawa finally wrote my name at the top with 4,784 offers.
“Good job Y/N! That’s super manly!” Kirishima looked back at me and smiled.
“Thank you!” I felt my face blush at the compliment before looking back down at my desk. What was that? My stomach feels slightly weird, maybe I’m just hungry. I did forget to eat breakfast after this morning's commotion. I heard a cough next to me and turned to see Uraraka wiggling her eyebrows, and I cocked one of mine at her in confusion. She rolled her eyes playfully and smiled a goofy smile before Aizawa asked us to turn our attention back towards him as he handed out papers containing all of our offers. As I received mine, I began to page through it looking for my brothers. Two names that did surprise me were Best Jeanist and Endeavour, 2 of the top 5 heroes. Best Jeanist would be an interesting one to work with, but I know that if I worked with Endeavour I would lose my mind. I knew mom hated him, and Toshinori doesn’t like him, so I doubt he’s a good person. I kept paging through and finally found my brothers’ offer circling it.
“That was quick,” Aizawa said as I returned the paper to him.
“I know who I want to work with” he gave me a look as he began to see who I marked.
“Are you sure you want to work with these two?” I know he doesn’t like my brothers, but something else was on his face.
“Do you think they aren’t a good match for me?” I asked him, wanting to pry into what he was thinking.
“Very opposite quirks. Are you inspired by them at all?” The look he gave me let me know he knew who they were to me.
“I look up to them greatly. I want to become like them and work closely with them” he let out a sigh and placed the paper down onto a pile.
“Return back to your seat” I gave a little smile and returned back to my seat, peering down at others’ papers as I walked by. Some of them got really interesting heroes, and others got ones I’ve never heard of.
“Who did you pick?” Uraraka asked as I got back into my seat.
“Paradox and Marksman”
“They are two strong heroes,” Iida commented as he looked through the paper, searching for something. His entire demeanor seemed off. I remember seeing on the news his brother got injured fighting a villain, but I don’t remember all the details.
“Didn’t they graduate from here like 2 years ago?” Sero commented, joining in on the conversation.
“Yeah! They’re really young but already made it into the top 20 and are rising!” Kaminari spoke.
“Why did you pick them?” Sero turned his attention towards me curiously.
“Like you guys said, they are very strong!” I told only half the truth, but the girls in the class knew why after the incident at the sports festival.
“You will have more time to look at them later. Now its time for-”
“CODENAMES!” Midnight entered the room, cutting off Aizawa. He rolled his eyes as he entered his classic sleeping bag.
“Codenames are a big part of being a hero. They let people know who you are and who to call out to in a time of need. Today, we will be choosing them, so pick carefully!” Midnight said as she passed out whiteboards. I swear I heard Mineta drooling as she walked by him, but I chose peace and ignored the creep.
As I stared at the whiteboard in front of me, I thought hard about what I wanted to be called. Hayato calls himself Paradox because he can be both here and there in a matter of seconds, Satoshi calls himself Marksman due to his high accuracy when shooting his bow and arrow as well as wielding his scythe, mom was called Soundwave due to her control over sound and using it practically at her will. What am I? I thought about my quirk and who I am inside as I looked around and saw people beginning to go up and present, all explaining the meaning behind their names. It then dawned onto me what I should be called, and I began to write down rapidly.
“Ito, are you ready to present?” Midnight asked me, and I shook my head. As I stood up and made my way towards the front, I felt a few pairs of intense eye contact onto me as I moved. Standing behind the podium, I flipped my whiteboard around.
“Surge: The Powerhouse Hero” I said with a smile on my face. I looked around and saw people shaking their heads in agreement. My eyes eventually caught onto Izuku and he gave me a smile, making my body slightly heat up.
“Good job Ito, I approve!” Midnight said and I quickly made my way to sit back down. First the feeling with Kirishima and now Izuku? What is this feeling? I didn’t fully hate it, but it did make me feel weird.
“Are you ok Y/N?” Iida asked, turning in his seat towards me when he saw how red my face was.
“Y-Yeah I’m ok, just a little hungry” I wasn’t really lying. It was soon time for us to be dismissed for lunch.
“Did you not have a proper breakfast this morning?” he looked at me, his glasses making a gleam.
“Not this morning”
“Y/N! To be in proper shape you must be sure to provide yourself proper nutrition” he waved his hand at me in a chopping motion, making my face turn red in embarrassment as others in the class turned their eyes towards us.
“I swear I usually eat breakfast I just forgot today!”
“That is no excuse!” Iida reprimanded me.
“Relax Iida, she said she forgot no need to yell at her” Kirishima came over to us diffusing the situation. There the feeling was again, I must really be hungry at this point.
“Thanks Kirishima” I felt my face and neck turn slightly red as I turned towards him.
“No problem Y/N!” He gave me a big smile as he told me to walk with him to lunch. Hopefully this hungry feeling goes away soon.
Chapter 23: Internships Start Now
Chapter Text
“So who do you think you’re going to pick?” I learned over Uraraka’s shoulder at the table as the others in the class went over their offers.
“I don’t know there’s so many to pick from” her eyes scanned the pages, flipping through them carefully.
“How about you Iida?” I turned my attention towards the blue haired boy.
“I decided on the pro hero Manual” he took a bite of his food.
“Nice! …. Isn’t he stationed where your brother got…” I noticed a look in his eyes I know too well.
“Iida” I said in a stern tone.
“It is not what you think it is Y/N” he tried to reassure me, but that look in his eyes still was there.
“There’s so many!” I turned to the table next to us as I heard Kaminari groan. All of Class 1-A decided to sit close to each other to go over interview options, all except for Bakugou.
“Yeah, but isn’t that a good thing you got this many offers?” I asked him.
“How did you pick so fast?” Sero groaned, looking more into the paper.
“I already had a general idea of who I wanted”
“You, Iida, and Todoroki are the only ones who turned your papers in already” Kirishima commented. I turned to the red and white hair boy who sat at the far end of the table. He never sits with anyone in class, so it is progress that he’s at least sitting somewhat close to us.
“Who did you pick Todoroki?” I called down to him at the end of the table. He turned his attention towards me after he placed down his food.
“I decided to work with my father” I sensed something in his tone that he was not happy about it, but needed the experience.
“You probably get to see a lot of action when you work with him” I tried to lighten his mood. He seemed to be trying to converse with people in class, just a little awkward.
“I got it! Gunhead!” Uraraka yelled next to me, circling the heroes name in pen.
“Did you decide?” I asked the brunette.
“Yep!” She popped.
“Gunheads a good hero for hand to hand combat” Momo spoke up.
“That’s exactly why I picked him!” Uraraka gleaned.
“...Midoriya are you ok?” I looked down and saw Iida ask the green haired body a question, but Izuku was too busy muttering to himself. Poor guy, I still can’t believe he didn’t get any offers. But like Tsu said earlier, no hero wants to take on someone who’s quirk constantly breaks their bones.
“Ughh I got to go home and back. I can’t believe they are already making us leave tomorrow” Mina slouched down in her seat.
“Better to get all the experience while we can” Momo tried to cheer her up.
“Yeah” Jirou said, and Momo had a slight blush appear on her face. Not too noticeable, but I sense that Jirou was able to see it.
“Yeah I’m not excited for the train ride” Kaminari’s face dropped at the idea. While I do live with my brothers, their agency is about an hour train ride from our house. I’m going to have to commute with them everyday there, and what's worse is that they like working at night, so my sleep schedule is going to get all messed up.
“I just hope its going to be somewhat of an easy week” Hagakure said, and a few people at the table agreed.
“Oh please, when is it ever easy for us? Aizawa probably is telling them to go extra hard on us!” Kaminari spoke and we all laughed at his comment.
-------------------------
“Are you ok Izuku? You barely talked all day?” I asked the boy as we walked out of school. He was still muttering to himself before he noticed I caught up to him.
“O-Oh hey Y/N!” he seemed surprised at my sudden appearance.
“I asked are you ok?” I repeated.
“Yeah, I’m ok” he didn’t remain eye contact with me.
“Are you sure?” I pried.
“It's just… I’m nervous I haven’t received any internship offers” he confessed, looking down on the ground.
“YOUNG MIDORIYA! YOUNG ITO!” we heard a booming voice approaching us.
“All Might?” Izuku looked up at the giant blond who appeared in front of us.
“Yes! I am here!.... To request both of your presence!” he smiled.
“What do you need us for?” I asked. Usually he only wants Izuku, so I’m curious as to why he wants me this time.
“No time to ask questions! Follow me!” I looked at the green hair boy and shrugged my shoulders as wel followed behind the giant blond into his office. Inside was a table set up with some tea and an assortment of desserts.
“Toshinori what are you doing?” I looked up at him in confusion before he changed into his normal form.
“I have excellent news for Young Midroyia here!” he sat down at the table, motioning for us to sit.
“That still doesn’t explain why I am here”
“... I missed you” he confessed, scratching the back of his neck. I rolled my eyes and sat down at the table next to him.
“You know where I live. You can literally come and see me at any time” I took a dessert off of the plate and placed it into my mouth. A warm chocolaty center melted into my mouth, making my mouth water for even more.
“Come on young Midoriya sit” Toshinori pulled out a chair and Izuku sat down.
“Whats the news?” he asked, not helping himself to any treats.
“I have received a letter from an old instructor of mine” Toshinori handed him a letter, but I noticed him having a slight shutter run down his spine.
“Really?” Izuku took the letter out of his hand and opened it.
“His name is Gran Torino, and he is wondering if you’d like to come interview with him. He does know about One for All” Toshinori explained, slight fear in his eyes.
“REALLY?!” Izuku’s face lit up at the mention of an interview, but Toshinori’s face and body spoke something different.
“Toshinori are you good?” I asked him, mouth slightly full of desserts.
“Y-Yeah”
“Are you scared of this guy?”
“N-NO!” I rolled my eyes at him and looked at Izuku.
“If All Might is scared of this guy…” he began to mutter to himself.
“Please! Toshinori is scared of spiders, what harm can this guy do?” I joked, but it didn’t look like it was raising his spirits.
“Y/N, are you interviewing with your brothers?” Toshinori turned towards me.
“I had no choice, we have no idea what my quirk is capable of anymore” I flicked my wrist, sparks lighting up my hands. Izuku looked closely at my display, making me slightly blush.
“I wish I was able to help Y/N, but sadly as I said before your mother wasn’t able to get this far” Toshinori looked down at me.
“It’s ok, I guess I’ll just have to figure it out on my own” I smiled at him.
------------------
“Have fun!” I waved at Momo, Mina, and Hagakure all got onto the train near UA. Everyone was departing for their internships, but sadly I had to wait for Hayato to pick me up since he has different plans for me tonight. So now I’m just waving everyone off.
“Are you excited Y/N?” Kirishima came over to me as his train hadn't come yet.
“Yeah I’m really excited!” I smiled up at him, giving him a slight blush.
“M-Me too! Apparently I’ll be there with Tetsutetsu”
“That’s good you know someone! He’s very cool so you guys will get along really well”
“Are you saying I’m cool as well?” Kirishima asked.
“Nope” his face dropped.
“You’re manly” I laughed and he smiled at my horrid compliment.
“When does your train leave?” he asked me.
“I was told to meet my hero here actually so I don’t have a train”
“So you’ll be here all by yourself then?” his face had slight concern.
“Don’t worry he won’t be that long… I hope”
“Well if you need anything you have my number so don't hesitate to call if something happens ok?” He reassured me and I nodded.
“Oh, my trains here. Have a good week Y/N!” he called out as he ran onto the train. I waved him goodbye as the train left.
“Move” I felt a strong shoulder bump into me. I looked up and saw Bakugou walking past me as his train was next.
“You can say excuse you” I told him, voice laced with anger.
“Whatever” he looked back at me quickly. I usually would have let it roll off, but something inside of me pulled to call him out on his attitude.
“You are a real pain in the ass Bakugou. You don’t even have basic manners. I'm surprised you made it this far” I spat before turning away to go sit on a bench. I heard him mutter something, but I wasn’t sure as to what. Eventually, everyone left the train stop, leaving me to sit there alone until my phone read 8:56 PM. Hayato said he would be here at 8:30, so I gave him a call.
“Where are you at?” I asked him.
“I’m on my way. Got caught up in a meeting”
“For one of the fastest people alive, how are you late?”
“I couldn’t tell you” I heard his voice both on the phone and to the left of me. He appeared out of thin air, holding a giant suitcase towards me.
“What’s this?” I asked, opening up the lid.
“New hero suit” he said it like it was something obvious. I held it up and noticed that the energy absorption was already missing.
“Where did it go?” I pointed to the chest.
“We decided you didn’t need it”
“So now it’s just a padded black jumpsuit?” I asked him and he nodded.
“But I liked the white strips” I slightly frowned, looking through the suitcase to see what else there was. It also contained my boots and knife garters, but in place of my mask there were two tiny ear pieces.
“What are these?”
“Place them on” I put them in my ears, making sure they were snug against. Hayato pulled my hair back slightly and tapped them. A mask suddenly appeared on the lower half of my face, covering my nose and mouth.
“New technology they created over in the US. It allows you to have oxygen up tp 30 minutes underwater as well as prevents dust from getting into your lungs. Also connects to your phone so you can play music and call people”
“Woah!” I tapped the earpiece again, making the mask disappear.
“Me and Satoshi both got them as well. We already have you connected to a line with us so whenever you need us just say ‘Call…’”
“This is so cool!”
“Go get dressed, we have a small mission tonight”
“Already?”
“It’s a small one. There’s a planned robbery near one of the designer stores in Tokyo and they want us to go deal with it” Hayato said, fixing the straps on his boot.
“I’ll be quick” I told him as I walked into the train station's bathroom to place on my hero suit. Getting changing in the stalls was extremely hard, but somehow I managed. Walking out of the stall. I set my phone up on the sink and pressed record, wanting to show the girls in the class my new mask.
“Y/N HURRY UP!” I heard Hayato yell from the door.
“ONE SECOND!” I yelled back as I pressed send on the video.
“Took you long enough”
“Weren’t you literally late to our meet up”
“Shush, now pay attention” he pressed a finger up to my mask.
“You technically aren’t supposed to be using your quirk without our supervision, however if you get caught in a situation and use your best judgement, I give you permission to use your quirk”
“What situation would I be stuck in?”
“You’d be surprised what we deal with on a daily basis” he looked off into the distance.
“That’s not ominous” I commented.
“Are you ready?” He grabbed the back of my suit.
“For w-AAAAAAA” he started his quirk and began to run, throwing me over his shoulder.
“WE ARE OFF TO THE FIGHT!” Hayato laughed as he somehow ran quicker. The closer we got to the speed of sound, the closer I felt like my head was going to explode.
“We are here!” he suddenly stopped, and I felt all the organs in my body slosh around as I collapsed to the ground.
“You’ll get used to it” I looked up and saw Satoshi looking down at me.
“Give yourself a little bit to get it together, we will have time” I finally took a look at my surroundings. We are perched on top of a roof overlooking a group of stores.
“Which one is it?” I asked, looking over the roof trim.
“The middle one. All designer hand bags and watches”
“They at least have taste” me and Satoshi looked over at Hayato, who looked back at us with a smug look.
“Am I wrong?”
“NOW'S NOT THE TIME!”
