Work Text:
As part of her education, Judith began to learn magic. Being the daughter of a powerful mage, she had a natural aptitude for casting spells.
One day, she accidentally summoned a tome from the modern world. She recalled her mother was from that place and had described how different everything was there. So, Judith knew this very book had come from her mother’s world.
She opened it curiously, flipping through the contents and trying to understand its contents. It seemed like a regular dictionary, but the words were oddly fascinating. Some she had never seen before, others carried meanings that felt both strange and intriguing.
"No cap..." Judith murmured as she read one of the words. She continued, "means no lie."
She nodded in understanding as she took note of the words. "Poggers means expression of excitement, amazement, or enthusiasm."
Judith tilted her head. "So if I put that in a sentence, I'm reading this book with poggers? Did I use the word right?" She shrugged.
"Ship means supporting a romantic relationship between two people," she nodded, "but in a local context, it means vessel or water transportation."
"How amazing! I didn't know Mom has been speaking this kind of language before!" That convinced her to study the language so she could converse with her mother in her native tongue.
Judith was a smart kid and was able to learn the language in just a few days. She took the tome with her on her way to impress her parents with her newfound knowledge.
When she entered, she nearly walked into an embarrassing scene had Penelope not pushed Callisto away in time. Her exasperation at her husband was instantly replaced by warmth when she faced Judith.
"Come here, Judith," Penelope gestured, motioning for her to sit next to her. She noticed the book in Judith’s hand and naturally asked, "Do you want me to read that for you?"
"It's not even evening. Return to your room for now because your mother and I have important business to—"
Penelope pinched his lips and effectively shut him up. She turned to Judith and nodded. "Shall we?"
Judith shook her head. "Mom, I'm not here to ask you to read a book for me. I'm here to show you what I've learned for the past few days."
She sat down next to her and placed the book on her lap. Callisto, despite his previous demeanor, brought himself to listen to his daughter and nodded encouragingly.
Judith cleared her throat. "No cap, fam, I just wanted to drop a thank you letter because you all are the vibes and I’m so grateful. You’re the ones who keep it real, support me through the good and the rough, and make life lit. Whether we’re flexing on the gram or just chilling at home, I’m so thankful for every moment. You’ve got my back, no shade, no cap. I’m lucky to have you in my squad. Keep it real, stay connected, and never stop being the best fam ever. I love you to the moon and back."
Penelope and Callisto’s faces were incredulous to describe. Penelope sighed, though she found it amusing. "Where did you learn that from?"
Judith handed her the book. "I summoned it by accident, but found no threat, so I decided to keep it."
Callisto huddled over and joined the conversation. He had a confused expression as he tried to read the words on the page. "Zaddy? Zaddy means handsome and fashionable older man."
He cupped his chin with condescending pride. "Does that mean me? I'm a zaddy, don't you think?"
Penelope found his narcissism tiring and browsed the book to find the perfect reply. "You're highkey annoying so shh your cheugy ass," she smirked.
Callisto understood the challenge and snatched the book from them. "Ah, what about this? You're just salty because I'm just too real."
"Now you're getting it, squad," Judith nodded.
From that moment on, the three conversed in a language that others found confusing. When Duke Eckhart visited, he was surprised when Judith greeted him, "Hey G-pops! Your fit is slaying as usual."
Duke Eckhart scrunched his face, attempting to process her language. "I didn’t catch your words, Judith. What did you say?"
Penelope came over and ruffled Judith’s hair. "She means hello, grandfather, you presented yourself as well as ever."
Duke Eckhart nodded, though he was still confused. He carried Judith in his arms and asked, "Care to teach me your language, my smart little Judith?"
After that day, another person successfully learned Judith's brainrot language. To this day, they still spoke it from time to time.
