SUNSHOT: HALLOW'S EVE HACK

Summary:

What happens when things go VERY wrong just hours after a Solstice run? When worlds seep into each other, and chaos is imminent...
Sunny is an average college student
Sunny just finished OneShot
Sunny didn't expect for the World Machine to reach out to her at 2AM, pleading for her help.
Lily didn't expect to get roped into a huge adventure by her girlfriend, Sunny.
And Niko never thought they'd end up seeing Sunny again, or being physically with her in any capacity.
Surely this can only end well, right?
It has to.

Chapter 1: The beginning.

Chapter Text

Sunny:
Adjective

Of or pertaining to the sun; Cheerful; genial.

[...It’s been a few hours.]

[Just a few hours since all was set right, since…]

[Since Niko was sent home.]

[What time is it even?]

[The internal clock says 2:00 AM.]

[I have a feeling something’s VERY WRONG, I can’t seem to figure out just what that is, though.]

[At least Niko is safe and back home]

[At least, they SHOULD be.]

[. . . ]

[Maybe I should reach out, just to be safe.]

It was 2 in the morning when I woke up, or more accurately WAS woken up. By what I wasn’t sure, but I
noticed something odd. My computer seemed to be…on?

I remembered turning it off and heading to bed, not even bothering to change out of my clothes for the day (But considering what transpired in the next few hours, I’m grateful for that). I reluctantly got out of bed and went to turn it off…

Until I noticed it. Right there, on the desktop, OneShot was open.

I had beaten the game just earlier that day, Solstice and all. I was greeted by a blank window with a textbox.

[Are you there, Sunny?]

The world machine. It was…reaching out to me?

[I can’t see or hear anything from your end, do you not have a webcam or mic?]

I did have a mic, but I didn’t plug it in often. I decided to plug it in out of curiosity, not like it’d do any harm if I ended up looking like an idiot.

“Hello?”

[Oh, I can hear you now, that’s good.]

“What the- wh- huh???”

[I see you’re confused, I can’t blame you.]

[Please listen closely. I have a feeling something VERY bad is coming. I need your help.]

[I feel Niko is in danger as well here, so if not for me, listen for their sake, please.]

“What’s happening?”

[I can’t be sure about much, but…]

[I feel a connection, and not just to your world.]

[This could have catastrophic consequences if left unchecked.]

[I have found the coordinates for the closest rift, and I need you to go there as soon as possible.]

[Be careful, Sunny.]

And then the program closed itself, weird. The clover app then opened…

“GO TO THE NEAREST BODY OF WATER, AND THROW THIS INTO YOUR REFLECTION.”

I then noticed a glow coming from the windowsill of my dorm room. It was-

A lightbulb shaped like a heart? No, this felt more…important than a lightbulb. Was this…?

Things were getting real now, as I held the light in my palm I couldn’t help but think-

“Hun, it’s really early, please turn off the light…”

I looked at my girlfriend, who was now wide awake, or maybe not wide awake. You get the gist.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, hun.”

She rubbed her eyes with mild frustration and looked directly at me, only now processing the golden rays emanating from the lightbulb. It would’ve surely damaged her retinas under normal circumstances.

“But it’s like 2AM, I’m trying to sleep, it’s too bright in here…”

Did she not notice? I guess it WAS 2 AM, I slowly held up the heart shaped bulb and walked towards her to give her a better view.

“Ack, too bright!! I…what the…?” It took her a moment to adjust to the lightbulb’s light, but… “That’s a nice party trick…I’m sorry, it’s REALLY early, I don’t have anywhere near the brain power to process anything beyond ‘this might as well happen today’.”

That was…fair. Thinking about it, I was also pretty tired.

Surely it wouldn’t hurt to just…take a nap…

…And then I promptly passed out on the bed.

I was in a void, a dark void. The only light I could see being two cat-like eyes.

Wait. Was that…?

“Niko??”

“Hello?! Who’s there??”

OK That’s DEFINITELY Niko, no doubt about it.

“Niko! It’s me, Sunny, why are you here??? You should be back home! What-”

“Sunny?! You’re…here…The World Machine told me that you were in danger! I don’;t know what’s going on and- Oh, it looks like you’re waking up now.”

Oh that’s- that’s not a good sign.

[Please hurry.]

I wake up to the sound of..My girlfriend's voice?
