Personally i think blue did it so red adopt lance. let be honest, with Black he did it in honor of his previous paladin (And has a gut feeling they picked up was a clone). with red it just pure stubbornness (Let be honest, out of all the lion, i see red having Keith stubbornness) for not picking Allura even though she pilot material.
Heck she didn't even hear till she let go of her royal an just be herself. Plus like Lance said, out of all them, he just glad Allura was chosen as his successor.
That being said, i imagine Allura to force both to talk about what happen between blue and lance.
That's going to be a discussion no one wants to really have. I think Red not picking Allura had more to do with measuring her capabilities. Allura was definitely not prepared to fly the Lions, and she isn't one to fly with her instincts, she is all calculation and planning ahead.
