Like father, like son, and perhaps Bilbo is (however secretly) just as pleased at not being able to deny Thorin. "And isn't that something, Bilbo thought a little giddy, a little distracted. A king of dwarves, kneeling before a hobbit. Mother would be delighted." Belladonna would indeed be delighted, and she'd likely never let Thorin forget it.
