Comment on I Like Me Better When I'm With You

  1. Normal me: Cute!!
Trained interpreter me: how the fuck would I begin to interpret "corrupted" in this context?!?! Because the sign for "corruption" that I know is essentially "bad business"??? Is it "bad influence"?? I think it'd be "bad influence". Would I sandwich this? Why is young people speak so difficult to interpret??!

    1. LOL! I feel the same way!! I tend to gloss ASL when I'm writing and then come back and translate to English before I post things (sometimes I'll get lazy and just write English though) and 'bad influence' is exactly what I used to mean 'corrupted' here! I'm still a beginner, but writing Clint has given me lots of practice interpreting everyday spoken language and it's been really fun!!
Thank you for reading and commenting!

      1. I can assure you that no amount of practicum will ever be a match for gen Z slang.

          1. Good luck!! I finished the written EIPA ages ago and I’m preparing for the EIPA performance right now! I’ve been out of the field for about two years and am desperate to return to interpreting! If you need someone to sign with, I’m always happy (read: desperate) for a conversation!
