MAN i feel so bad for this version of og katarina. so much knowledge!! questionable wisdom and self-actualization/reflection!! but i love her and her determination anyway. honestly she kinda reminds me of erica from "deathbound duke's daughter and the seven nobles", who encountered various yanderes over the course of her first life and eventually ended up dying from one before transmigrating into an otome game. same wariness of men and reluctance to get close to ppl!! same desire for friends!! same motivation to avoid death at the hands of ppl the villainess her pissed off!!! but erica doesn't really have a harem bc she's too busy kicking ass lol. i'm looking forward to seeing how this katarina changes and grows and maybe!! is able to process her trauma and trust some ppl.
also it is SO interesting that she finds nicol the scariest. he doesn't get a lot of focus and all we know is that he's apparently devastatingly attractive so. it's cool that you're actually making the 'devilish count' that seems to be based off him mean something more sinister than seduction!! i wonder if katarina would consider nicol the 'monster' and be ok with sophia... the ironic inversion of the public's perception of the ascart sibs...
also! the other capture targets besides jeord and keith killing her... yikes. we only know about the prince and her bro, but even alan killing her... QAQ
Oh gosh! You captured that perfectly! That's exactly the blend I'm going for - "so much knowledge!! questionable wisdom and self-actualization/reflection!!". I'll just get you to write the ad copy for this version of Katarina ;) The knowledge versus wisdom/self-reflection dichotomy is going to become very er... apparent over the next few chapters, so I'm delighted that you noticed it immediately.
I love villainess reincarnation and I have no idea how I missed "deathbound duke's daughter" but now I am definitely going to have to seek it out. It seems to hit most of my favourite character points, up to and including skipping the harem to kick ass.
The wariness about men, reluctance to get close to people, and contrast with the desire to have friends are going to be key tensions in the rest of the story. I'm very impressed that you pulled those threads out after only the prologue. This story will definitely track her processing of her trauma and ability to trust, but, as you noted, Katarina is determined, which is the kind word for stubborn, and there may be some misunderstandings because of that.
Ooo... Someone noticed the Nicol thing! This is going to be very relevant. Also you are maybe too good at predicting at least part of the consequences from this, so I'm going to carefully applaud your keen insight and not say too much more ;) Seriously though, I really like your analysis here.
Good catch on the capture targets! I can't quite tell if you noticed the other big clue I left in that section (I think you might have?), but hold that thought! Definitely, poor Katarina though. With her monofocus on Jeord to suddenly have these other attractive men she barely knows kill her for what feels like no reason must be terrifying. For people like us, who know who they are in the other world, it's pretty horrifying. We'll definitely get more chance to explore that later in the story ;)
Wow, do you ever have some great insights and understanding of Katarina. I really hope that the upcoming chapters will continue to provide you food for thought, because I have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to engage with your excellent analysis.
