    Oh my god I am SO BEHIND in responding, I can't believe I didn't reply to this earlier!!

    This is -- man, I don't feel like I deserve a comment this great, but know that this is getting saved with a star. Thank you so, so much, everything you mentioned here is stuff I spent hours worrying about (the prose, the ending, the characterizations, also: e v e r y t h i n g because that's how writing works I guess!), and I'm really glad that it came together. I usually write with YouTube clips of the game playing in the background to try to get the voices right, because all of them and especially Varric have such distinctive tones and patterns of speech.

    (In retrospect, though, I probably could have been a little clearer about the ending, lol. If I do a sequel, it will involve a lot of trippy shit with Solas and Hawke. It's a big "if" though!!)
