Oh wow, thank you for that. Of course Sherlock would have had these thoughts, would have composed this list. How did I not realize this before? His visit to the restaurant was not so naive as we may have thought--you have proved it!
This piece is so beautiful. I loved your descriptions of the abandoned Baker Street, and also of how Sherlock succeeds in his understanding of human nature, but simple chooses not to align himself with social convention. You make his character make so much sense. His observations of John's needs are dead-on, in my opinion, and how he accepts that John will require a certain amount of violent expression in order to make peace with Sherlock's return. Quite astute, I think (of you and Sherlock). :)
I have completely accepted this scene as head-canon.
Thank you so much! I have often grappled with the contradiction of how he can be so astute and insightful about people and yet not apply these insights to his own life... so I thought I'd make an attempt at reconciling things and see if it worked. I'm glad it seemed to :)
