This is delightfully satisfying, and I cannot wait until the 'trap' is sprung. Great work tweaking canon dialogue, even if we tragically lose that truncated "what the fuck?!" from Lucifer.
[Chloe] didn't view it as murder: no, they were simply ensuring that [Lucifer] no longer existed on the earthly plane. ...Sure. The hilarious extension of that logic is that Decker is out of a job, since all 'murders' are merely human A sending human B's soul to a different plane. 🙃 It's funny that later on she thinks Lucifer "doesn't deserve to live", presumably as the belief that he's a monster continues to percolate and her perception of him becomes increasingly like that of pop-culture Satan. The mention of Maze is good; it makes sense for Kinley to target her too.
Agent Green ... had been perturbed by his presence at first but, upon realising he wasn't human, had seemed to relax. ...It almost makes a weird sort of sense. I.e. so many things about Lucifer probably make sense when someone realises he's not human. 😆
I LOVE how Lucifer has resolved his vulnerability sitch. I cannot put into words how much I despise his physical vulnerability being romanticised, or held up as some magic proof of emotional vulnerability. And your more confident Lucifer is wonderful, e.g.: ...the Detective leaving ... had hit him less than he'd thought it would. ...Yes, his world is bigger than the LAPD and the miracle it contains. Also, I want Chloe to know that God has been hanging out with Lucifer. That would blow hers and Kinley's minds. (And, nice to see Lucifer distrustful of God. He should be. Season 5b was such a letdown regarding God.)
Thanks so much! Did love that truncated line in canon 😂 That's actually a recurring scene whenever I bought about writing a Lucifer fanfic - Lucifer turning up to work a crime scene/to the precinct (because he is a whole person NOT an extension of Decker and are we REALLY supposed to believe he would avoid doing a hobby/job he enjoys just because SHE would prefer it or something? I'm not at all bitter) and calling her out on that line. Something like: *faux confused* "But Detective, why are you still here? This isn't a MURDER after all, this poor chap simply no longer exists on the earthly plane!" Oof that was terrible - scene was amusing in my head, but I don't think I ever actually got round to writing it. Eh, her hypocrisy/double standards can be amusing to play with. I hated that mortality thing so much too. Though if I remember rightly, may have read a story once where it WAS a negative thing, though still self inflicted - something like she hurt him from the getgo, so he kinda decided she could hurt his physically too... I can't remember, but it was definitely a sign of her abuse which he eventually realised/had pointed out. Always love to see a bigger than Chloe/the LAPD world for Lucifer, that sucked in the show too. Never saw 5b, but wasn't too keen on what I've heard about it Thanks for commenting, glad you enjoyed! 💚
