Comment on Harry Potter and the Clean Slate

  1. Muggles were like ants to mages; they had no defence against magic.

I couldn't help but fixate on that sentence. While it's true in some way, especially for those mind manipulation magicks that could prevent a muggle from noticing there is even something wrong before they die, a muggle can easily kill a wizard by shooting them before they can even erect a shield (pressing a finger on a trigger is certainly faster than whatever wand movement is needed for a shield). What's more is that I couldn't help but notice that most battle magic in Harry Potter is... yeah, Harry formulated it well when he talked about dodgeball. Those are spells concentrated as a ball and projected towards the opponent. But that also means that one doesn't even need magick to avoid them (unless you're overwhelmed by the sheer number, but then again, by then, you could have shot a lot of bullets yourself). And lastly, a wizard can easily be killed by surrprise. I mean, you shoot someone when they don't expect it, they die. And since no magick is involved, they can't even feel the build a up or magical energy or anything.

So yeah, my question is, how do you imagine magic used against muggles? Both against individuals and large groups (like a village) of muggles. What kind of protections do you imagine Harry has against surprise attacks (runes against projectiles maybe)?

Anyway, I like your Harry. He's truly badass!

    Thanks for the chapter.

Granted the same is true on true on the flip side as muggles have no mahic sen sense.

Also I feel its more of a general thing since every wizard carries a wand with at least the capability of using a grenade (Bombarda was cast by Hermione in 3rd year) while most civilians, especially in the UK, dont carry guns everywhere or even own them.

Also they have no magic of their own so bone crushers and just magic in general hurts more. Particularly because mages bodies are almost always far more durable (Neville falling 50ft and only breaking/spraining his wrist and just the existance of quiditch in general)
