I was confused by some of this because I misremembered and thought the epilogue of the second story was the first chapter of this one. So instead of one new chapter, I got to read two new-to-me chapters for this one!
The whole thing with Rhaenys was fascinating, if not a little sad. How still the Targaryen line shows signs of madness (though inbreeding?) if both the King and Viserys are mad (which, they might not be, after all, Rhaenys is not an unbiased narrator). I rather like her as a pairing for Robb, but- oh, the twist of it. Rhaenys as the first female inheritor after Rhaenyra - after how Sansa insured the Greens won by stating their right by law because of male primogeniture- is such a twist! Especially when Sansa is now facing defending her own inheritance in a system that doesn't care about gender. Though... I suppose Rhaenys has a stronger claim than Rhaenyra did both because she has no male siblings and only a "mad" uncle (can't tell if his is foreshadowing something important or a McGuffin. Like- he could be Aemond or Jon reborn or he could just be insane Viserys). But it sets up an interesting plot....especially with Sansa needing to focus on the White Walkers. She worked so hard for the realm to be more united and yet... she already had to face down a rebellion in the North and the South is not as stable as Aegon II had hoped it would be.
As for this chapter... Part of me is saddened by Catelyn, but you give very good reasoning for *why* she feels this way. It also really sets the stage for Robb and Sansa's own relationship both with his defense and the way he feels about this wedding (someone said Sansa jinxed herself and she'll probably end up needing to marry a Targaryen. That, or she will indeed need to go South to fight for some reason...).
I'm so saddened by Jon not being alive. Like the stuff about Rhaenys, it feels important, but I'm not sure yet what it means. It could be that it really underlines both that Sansa is alone and also that, for all her planning, Sansa couldn't control everything to make sure everyone was born just so, or that he and/or Aemond will somehow be reincarnated in some other way that we will discover later. I love that it feels deliberate but not so blatant that it is telegraphed to the reader. It hints and keeps us questioning and reading on.
