Wa~~~ Throwing flowers~~~ HE! HE! Finally, a HE! Though if these two end up together, I suspect their life will be absolute chaos afterward, it’s still a HE! That’s mature love for you. They aren’t perfectly matching puzzle pieces, but they’ll lean on each other and stumble forward together.
With Oberstein in the picture, Reinhard won’t meet an early death anymore, right? Right?
I absolutely adored this ending. Reinhard’s journey through guilt, anger, and pain as he realizes how much Oberstein means to him was so compelling. Our Emperor finally let his mask drop, didn’t he? Reinhard’s anger and desperation felt raw and human, but it was also the moment he realized that these emotions are what make him human. It’s a pivotal shift where Reinhard begins to accept that weakness isn’t a sign of failure but an inseparable part of being human.
Reinhard’s known for a while that Oberstein isn’t just a tool, but saying it aloud caught Oberstein off guard, didn’t it? Finally, Oberstein gets a taste of sweetness~~! From beginning to end, Oberstein remains logical, seeing himself as nothing more than a tool for Reinhard. The moment he wakes up, he’s drafting a list of replacements—how could Reinhard not snap?
Honestly, though, this shows Oberstein’s insecurity as well. He knows he’s “damaged,” that he can’t serve Reinhard the way he used to =((( He undervalues himself, hiding his true feelings all the time. This can’t be blamed solely on Reinhard. Oberstein shares the responsibility =((( He clearly loves Reinhard, but he refuses to admit it, doesn’t he?
Thankfully, he finally let a little bit of his feelings show. The journey from being “just a subordinate” to someone yearning for connection was so beautiful. Yet, it still stays suspended in the conflict between logic and emotion, like when he refuses to make their relationship public. That action was practical, but it also reveals Oberstein’s fear: fear that going public would harm Reinhard, and fear that their relationship would be scrutinized and judged. Even though Oberstein insists he doesn’t care about emotions, I think this action shows just how much he cherishes and protects their bond. It’s just that Oberstein’s way of protecting and Reinhard’s way of protecting are completely at odds >”<
In the end, Kircheis was the brilliant shooting star that faded away, while Oberstein is the quiet, steady star. Kircheis was Reinhard’s ideal companion, while Oberstein represents resilience and cold rationality. Oberstein isn’t there to bring light, but to stand by Reinhard. He doesn’t replace Kircheis but complements Reinhard in a completely different way. Reinhard opening his heart to Oberstein, acknowledging the pain of losing Kircheis while affirming his willingness to move forward with Oberstein, is everything =(((
Now, please, give us some extra scenes of their chaotic daily life! I bet their future together will be full of hilarious and heartwarming moments. Pls~~~
