Well, I want Paul to suffer, but if we're going to follow Messiah, Irulan and her allies were never able to defeat Paul. And in my opinion, she was in love with him, so I think the only way for her to be happy would be to have a relationship with him. If she finds a lover, I doubt she will be able to have a free and public relationship with him. And I would like to see her happy, in a relationship with the person she loves. They have a lot of potential together. But getting there will take a lot of anguish.
But i can understand why you want him to get out of the picture.
Yeah, i think it is a great oportunity for her to have an male heir, and in a feudal society such as what we have in Dune, i think a male will be considered the true heir.
"Well, I want Paul to suffer, but if we're going to follow Messiah, Irulan and her allies were never able to defeat Paul." Damn right. Like I said, Paul is very powerful, very different from the other story, he's almost undefeatable, hence my reason for not writing directly from his POV again, heh, so Paul will be always a step ahead, but like Corrino had mentioned in the book, Paul's powers...." inconsistent", as much as Paul himself, and he has the "observer effect" like I mentioned today in my another reply under one comment. Paul is like the measurement device of the double-slit experiment and he also has the quantum entanglement, lol. So, yeah, he's well a step ahead, but still he doesn't know "everything" because he has also stopped actively "foreseeing" things because it also disturbs the "fabric of reality" of the cosmos more. He mentioned in the books like his presence replaced the safety in the cosmos, his persona, so he's becoming like "seeing" presence, just reacting when "his enemies" act against him. That also creates other problems in his personal life, of course :))
"And in my opinion, she was in love with him, so I think the only way for her to be happy would be to have a relationship with him. If she finds a lover, I doubt she will be able to have a free and public relationship with him. And I would like to see her happy, in a relationship with the person she loves." That's very true. Twelve years is very long to hate someone, really, and really who loves who first at the end of the day is just pointless :)) It's a process, and they both are in it already, for 12 years. Irulan is already aware of her own feelings, like I made her question herself, and this is one of the reasons why she got hurt that much when Paul stated in front of everyone "she holds no love for him." If there was nothing in her heart, she wouldn't have felt hurt again, it's the same thing. If Paul doesn't know deep in his heart her true heart, he would never given her that compassion he extended. Their "situationship" is very complicated, and they've become very messed up in those 12 years. I talked about Irulan having a lover in detail in another comment, too, so I don't get into detail here again, but you're right. For someone like Irulan, a discreet--childless love life--sex life would never make her happy. Irulan is not a 21st modern world woman. We have to put ourselves in her shoes when we think about her situation. And by her nature and upbringing, she is also very prideful and uptight. A discreet lover would only make her think of herself as a "low person", and the only way she could have a real lover or marriage with someone else than Paul is by escaping to Tulipe :))) Hehehe. And that...you know, who knows? ;))
"Yeah, i think it is a great opportunity for her to have a male heir, and in a feudal society such as what we have in Dune, i think a male will be considered the true heir." I'm not sure if any female heir has ever taken the throne in Dune Universe, like Queen Elizabeth, having a Prince consort, like Prince Philip. I think it would not happen even though Paul didn't take the throne by force, because the Bene Gesserit's original plan was to marry the Ksiwatz Haderach to the Heir Princess so that he would have the throne. The book didn't clarify it exactly if I'm not sure if he would take it as the Emperor or being the Empress's consort, but it's safe to assume that it's like the Emperor, not the consort.
