  1. Hey Rey 🖤

Let me tell you that you again explained Johnny's past so well - same as in the last chapter - that you left no doubts of what Johnny's choices caused and where they led to. I can actually understand him, even if I think that his poor son suffered in the process. But let's never forget where Johnny came from and what values were injected in him when he became a karate champion. It is not easy to live under such a pressure and I think that it influenced Johhny pretty much. He chose to escape, because it was also a kind of outlet for him. And yes, I think it was not because he didn't want to be a father (even it was not a planned pregnancy), because if it was really like that, he would not be angry about his son's surname. He doesn't have a simply personality, but he is not a bad person. He just has carried a lot of trauma himself. Let's never forget this "brainwashing" he got when he was a teenager. Also his mother died. It is not a thing you simply get over that easily. And considering his past... he was not ready for changes which could be that big. I understand it and the fact he wanted to still be a father? It means he is not a bad person. He just has some values instilled in him which are blocking him.

And let me tell you: argument scene was so well-written 🔥 I really enjoyed it, because you could sense a tension, disappointment and anger here. Yes. That's how you write such scenes. I only hope Johnny's coping mechanism will not concern his son? Because kids are always the biggest victims in something like that. And I believe Johnny - deep down himself - would not like it at all. Because he obviously regrets some things from his past. I see a huge chance for him just because of him seeing his choices as not always good. Do I have right? I am not sure, but I am very excited to find out 🔥

Amazing chapter, Rey, your explanation of lore is clearly amazing and very reliable ⚘️

    1. Hi Ewa ❤️

These choices make sense but of course they’re not without their faults. Others were affected. Hurt people often hurt others as I’ve said before, it is a sad fact. I know, poor Robby too. But values do run extremely deep, they will always crop up time and time again. I am really looking forward to what you’ll think of his future decisions honestly - yes he is just trying to be better but everyone has their demons. And, since it is established canon his birth father abandoned him and his mother, his stepfather was abusive - what guidance is there? There is only his sensei left, and you know what values he said.. You don’t have to know everything to see where this direction took Johnny. In the end, it was probably this fear of the unknown too. Even more sad that he didn’t want to be like his stepfather or father, yet he mirrors some mix of them in mine. I thought it was a very interesting parallel to put in, even if it’s just playing upon canon themes, I hope it will emphasise it more?

His mother was the one good parent he had and when she is gone, it is certainly something to not get over very quickly. It’s an internal conflict of wanting to be better but not knowing truly how. Yes, he still wants to be a father and to be better than role models he had but it will not be easy. Daniel knowing none of this also speaks volumes as it shows how unaware of it all he is, how he has only seen one side to the story. He has very good family relations always. Ahah thank you for saying argument was good. I guess you can see both sides of it (I hope?) and that is what I want. As for coping mechanism.. escaping? He is trying to get done with that by returning to the valley. He will not run away anymore. But for drinking? That will be something a little more complicated, since really someone can’t solve a dependence on it straight away. For kids.. yes, Robby is his own victim in a way, but Johnny will be trying for more redemption. I don’t believe he would want Robby to see him drunk or losing control. Yes - with family he will try to be better, but for other things he won’t be perfect. There is lingering immaturity lol. I don’t know how far you’ll count it as not developed or simply part of his character but we’ll see.

I’m glad lore is understandable! It’s funny, things are unraveling themselves just in very different ways. However of course some things changed along the line, not all of it is show. Thank you ❤️ if it is explained well then that is the most I can hope for.
