    SO I KEEP OPENING THIS TO RESPOND AND GETTING OVERWHELMED WITH ECSTATIC YELLING BC YOU GOT IT!! that is exactly it!! :D!!! With bonus "from the outside it just looks like they're throwing a tantrum" but YES CORRECT that was an instinctual attempt to Fix It because they had, in fact, royally fucked things up :3c

    Aaah I'm glad you dig the transference take! With the bones setting and a bit of healing, as well as the injuries carrying over onto the Warframe's body, it's at least partly an attempt to narratively explain game mechanics in a way that seems fun and makes sense to me. :3c

    The way I think of it (or at least write it for funsies), full transference isn't like piloting a mech from afar any more, but like becoming one with the frame? Their body/mind's "anchor point" goes from the-body-in-the-pod to the frame itself, and their... Essence? Soul? Energy? Fills in the hollow places in the essence/soul of the frame and vice versa in a kind of... Yin and yang? So it feels like and functionally is melding body and mind with the frame and taking up the same space. I'm not entirely sure where the Literal Actual Meat goes but it kind of takes up the same space/location in the universe's memory as the entire frame does, and leaving transference sort of "resets" the molecular makeup to the best approximation of the version of them that went in, meaning roughly the same amount of damage as they went in but at least in the proper "shape," so bones reset and while it doesn't directly heal lacerations, the reset can functionally cauterize less dire wounds by virtue of "blood no longer moving from inside to outside is basically being forced to clot by void fuckery"

    ALSO I LOVE UMBRA SO FUCKING MUCH?? It's a fun exercise to write in emotions, especially when so much of my writing is based in dialogue. But iirc he doesn't really talk in The Sacrifice, and I didn't want him to just Be A Voice In Their Head because that seems ... Idk. Cheap? Easy? But I wanted it to be clear that he's in there. And so much of who he is is built on and around emotion, so... Dtjddjhdjdfb anyhow I love him and he will continue to show up. Eventually Drifter's gonna have to be like "so actually this one was a person but he's the only one I promise" with the hex tho

    I haven't decided yet if the fact that the sword boys are so alike in temperament is going to end up with them getting along like a house on fire or wanting to set each other on fire
