There's always editing -- that spot where you used the same word twice in a paragraph, or just too damn many words, and I probably go over every fic six or ten times (including panic moments after posting). But I do find that especially when I'm channeling a voice this way -- switching into the cadence and vocabulary of a Doyle story as much as possible -- the phrases just pour out and I usually have to go and prune after because that style just takes over my brain.
Holmes may be physically more in the Crowley mold, and similarly willing to be transgressive (how many times in ACD canon does he commit or abet an actual crime in the cause of good?), but he feels closer to Aziraphale for me in his thoughtfulness and deep yet not demonstrative emotion. I love mix and matching this pair of couples.
