Poor Jon! But imagine it from everyone else’s point of view. You're at a normal wedding and then the KING just rocks up like hi. Everyone is going into holy shit mode for real! But yeah he doesn’t want to cause a scene he wants to show up and give them a gift / apartment (also I need my brother to have a friend like that that can just show up and gift me a house... that’d be nice....) but of course he gets stuck being King Jon for a bit. I do think his desire to be just a normal man is one of the reasons he loves Satin so much is that Satin treats him like a man. Calls Jon out, teases him, knows he has weaknesses and doesn’t fault him for it. Jon can just be a person with Satin, and he loves and cherishes that so much!
Ally’s big mouth is so fun to write! Bc she can and will just say ANYTHING! If it crosses her mind, it crosses her lips! Which can be nice and funny, as pere here, and less so as per later in the fic! I do think Jon does mostly like her well enough and finds her amusing and a bit refreshing for that reason! (until she goes too far of course)
Jon having to stay at the wedding does mean he’s in King Jon mode for sure! So he’s working, checking on his people, making them happy, being what a king SHOULD be! He really is the Princess Diana of Westeros, the People’s King ehehehe
I just LOVE the Welsh accent!! And I never liked how in Game of Thrones there seemed to be a “Northern” accent (that only the male Northern characters had?? Where was Sansa or Arya’s northern accent?? Not there fr) and then a cockney accent for peasants, and then RP/fancy British for all other Nobles. Like??? Westeros is the size of South America as per GRRM and if the UK, as tiny as it is, can have so many accents, then Westeros should have so many too!! And I figured the Reach should be Welsh, with Oldtown having a more southern Welsh accent and the rural areas more of a north welsh accent. And I was so obsessed with Ianto Jones from Torchwood when I was younger and his accent is so intrancing and beautiful, I just had to give it to Satin! I do imagine Satin’s voice is a bit higher and a bit more feminine than Gareth David Llyod’s as in ADWD Jon’s describes Satin as having “a sweet voice” and to me there is no sweeter accent and voice than Welsh!!

OOoooh yeah that second hand embarrassment is a little rough! Sorry! Ehehe Ally, GIRL, you need to reel it in! Those jokes are dangerous enough to make in privatein case ppl are listening but WAY too dangerous to make in front of a group, even on as luckily small as it was when she made it! Like she thinks she knows they’re together (and let's be real, Jon coming to her wedding, staying, and hanging out with Satin kinda just backs that up... on top of all the other evidence) so she wants to tease and play with her brother about his new boy! Just like he can tease her, but the politics Satin is dealing with s WAY different from her and Cedren’s. So she really steps in it by saying that out loud. Satin does his best to save it, Jon graciously exits the room with Cedren, and Satin is able to pull her aside for a WELL NEEDED conversation about keeping her mouth shut and being careful what she implies. I do think Ally did genuinely feel bad for saying that and not thinking! And Satin was kind to her so it didn’t ruin the night but yeah it was still something Ally needed to hear for sure!
Ah Larence, he’s a good boy. He’s kind to Jeyne, he accepts Satin! He’s sweet. I think him having grown up a bastard really helped him with that as well. He knows what it is to have been something else, something lesser, before being something more! I do think it upset him to hear and he wished it wasn’t so (he is still a product of his time and culture with conceptions to match) but he also knows that he’s seen as Satin as he is and that man is worthy and good. And he’s all about honour and loyalty, and he feels Satin has earned that! (Yet again, Satin’s big brother energy ha entrapped another!) And then he doubles down when Satin offers to send him away, seeing that Satin would expect to be found disgusting, he knows he has to double down like nope I ain’t leaving, we’re cool, wanna be allies? Satin really has earned some loyalty for sure!
Ehehehe yeah Jon! Get in there and help your not-boyfriend undress! You know, the thing you’ve been doing for like a month and a half? Just get over there and do it... ehehe Jon’s mind was a little busy at that moment thinking the Forbidden Satin Thoughts that his mind certainly needed a second to compute what Satin meant (not that he didn’t say it that way very much on purpose ehehe)
The truth of that def hurts! Satin has had the thoughts of that before in internal monologue but now JON gets to hear it and gets to know that eventaully, he’ll be Satin’s first in that way. That Satin’s offer before when they took Winterfell and after It Takes Two... those would have been a first kiss situation... a first kiss of his own volition. Jon can never unknow that now, that’s for sure.
Ehehehe Satin decides to lighten the mood with a little bit of Gay Psychological Warfare lmao. Like have a lil jealousy tonight, as a treat. And Jon deserves it for all the waiting and edging they’ve been up to lol. And yeah all of those things def added to his desire to tease him! But he’s also just been more comfortbale teasing him recently! He did so in Flowers for the Night with the favortism conversation. He knows what buttons to press on Jon and how to get him going and he also knows that while Jon might hem and haw about it, there’s always a smile in his voice despite protestations. He knows Jon likes it too! So its okay and its fun! It lets them flirt without actually taking any steps Jon isn’t ready to take!
YEAH JON! Shut his mouth up with your own mouth! That's the obvious solution, my boy! Just get in there! This is probably the closest he’s come (in a non-almost kiss scenario like It Takes Two and Washed Clean) where Jon’s control almost faltered bc damn was he so into it at that moment lol
