Comment on On the Illusion of Might

  1. I remember reading this on FF net few years ago for the first time. There are some lore mistakes that still bothers me. I can live with them, but they still tick my nerves.

In Halo lore slipspace drives facilitate transitions between real space and slipstream. They also maintain quantum bubble around the ship, allowing it to survive the eleven upper dimensions of slipspace. The movement of the ships is still done by conventional thruster engines of the vessel. At least that is the case of ones used by UNSC. Covenant ones are not fully understood, but the standing theory is that during the slips, they perform a series of microslips to measure dilation involved with transition to increase the performance.

Another is that Covenant capital ships do use repulsor engines, with some shuttles and fighters using impulse drives. At least to an extent. It could be explained with larger impulse drives being used in older hardware, with repulsors being more recent development that was lost with the fall of the Covenant.

I know this story is old, and still in development, and with Halo being in the state that it is now, and I am not asking you to rewrite anything. I just felt like voicing those things. Either way, it is a good story, hopefully it gets more regular updates as it has diverged from canon so much already.
