Summary
“Of course he hated his body; not only could he not look into his mirror without shame at the feral eyes staring back at him, no, it would betray him, shift and change and twist during every full moon, ripping apart his already shattered sense of self with its claws. But the hunger for flesh, the exhaustion, the natural isolation his condition brought wasn’t enough, no, God had to send a man to Vienna who only made all of those feelings worse.
And of course Mozart loved himself; he was forever young, always free to look ethereally beautiful and perfect, throw his head back and bare his fangs in that screeching, gratingly recognizable cackle. He could dress himself in finery and not worry about ailments, sleep, food. He could focus on his work, compose and write and play, while Salieri drowned in his self-hatred.”

Summary
Salieri is perfectly sure he knows what is going on. He has been preparing his plan for so long it feels almost real. However something unexpected happens: Mozart feels sick at The Magic Flute première. Maybe Salieri was not so wise as he thought he had been.

In which Wolfgang writes Martern Aller Arten for Caterina just because he wanted her to shout it to Salieri's face, since those damned Italians are musical idiots. (and yes, they know nothing about love)

Summary
Mozart sighed, thoroughly exasperated, pacing back and forth. “Then I don’t understand you! You’re impossible, you damned Italian! What do you want from me!?”
What! He wanted to destroy him, of course! And then he wanted to be him. He wanted his genius, but also wanted him dead — wanted God dead — ; he wanted to save God from that sick body and wanted that sick body, he wanted him. And wanted him dead. He wanted to consume him. He wanted that sacred content to finally be poured into a form just as sacred: his own. And then people would immediately recognize in Salieri’s devoted body that divine talent — they would see the miracle of Sense. Hearing the music, they would picture no other body than his, in perfect harmony. At last, God would be playing on a tuned instrument. That was what he wanted!
He looked at Mozart. Doe eyes. Rosebud lips. French nose. A dainty, coquettish soprano -

Summary
As he enters the great house, glowing like a new lantern from every room, it’s clear the party has hit full swing. Salieri arrives fashionably late for this exact reason always, keen to pick out a colleague or two with which to make polite conversation, a sweetmeat to sample if one is available, and then to depart for home before anyone is the wiser to his sudden absence.

Summary
Mozart, not unlike his music, elicited a spectrum of reactions on Salieri. The voice of God couldn't even imagine the depth of his control on Salieri's soul. It was infuriating and charming, and he was getting tired of fighting against desire.
