Ed really, really hoped he had misunderstood the doctor’s words. There was no way he would take off his leg! It was perfectly- well, okay, it hurt terribly to walk on it, sparks of electricity racing down nerve endings Ed no longer had every time he stepped on it, but…
If medical checkups following a mission weren’t required, Ed would have ignored the burning pain in his stump until he had a good reason to visit Winry and get it fixed. But this? No, Ed wouldn’t just take off his leg because of a bit of discomfort.
After his automail leg breaks for the first time since receiving it, Ed is suddenly forced to confront the realities of having a disability - if people would only stop staring, all of this would be so much easier to deal with.
