“I didn’t say anything. She’s a nice girl,” Regulus said innocently. “But you know what I think, Potter? You don’t want a nice girl. You want a girl who will call you out on your bullshit.”
“Fuck you,” James said. It hit like a slap, dizzying. “You want to know what I think? I think you’re not over me. You’re unhappy, and you’re trying to make my life miserable.”

Summary
He’s off, running across James’ backyard, until he reaches Crouch, whose expression softens at the sight of him. And then—and then—and fucking then James’ world crumbles beneath his feet. Everything goes silent, all the Cicadas suddenly dead and buried. Not even the trees sway with the light summer breeze, almost like the whole world has paused to give James room to digest what he’s fucking looking at.
Because—because—because then Regulus is fucking jumping—no joke, jumping—into Crouch’s arms. Crouch receives his meagre weight easily, lifting him off his feet and twirling him around once, before setting him back down onto his feet.

Then, Regulus leans up into a kiss, and James’ heart fucking shatters into thousands of little pathetic pieces.
