It’s spring of 1963 in Andalusia, Spain, two weeks after Patsy and Delia left Poplar to travel the world. After navigating the country in a rental car, and hopping from hotel to hotel for the past fourteen days, the couple has found a quiet place to settle down for the next month—in a guest house of a fictional hacienda that faces Morocco, a country that can be seen across the sparkling blue waters on a clear day.
It is there, on the edge of the sea, that Patsy learns—some old habits really do die hard.

Starts with Delia's accident, but she stays in London during her recovery instead of returning to Wales. Most major characters will be mentioned or featured at some point.
Honestly, this will be mostly very slow torture as Delia recovers. I don't plan to include anything that wouldn't be appropriate in the show, but I will add specific content warnings at the start of chapters if necessary. What with the period, homophobia is a given, unfortunately.

As she recovers, she finds herself waking up in the morning thinking she’s in year eleven and she has to get ready for school! In the midst of her boredom in a home without a telephone, nor a television set, she finds a hidden stack of letters from a gentleman, she assumed, named Pats. Slowly, she falls in love with this mystery man who writes of their adventures around London. When she can no longer bear the mystery, she runs away in the middle of the night with some money for a bus ticket and the return address on the letters.
To her surprise, she finds herself at a spotless flat with a jug of flowers on the windowsill.
A short story. Inspired by the 1967 movie of the same name.

Delia supports Patsy on a grief anniversary she is finally ready to deal with for the first time after processing more of her experiences in the SCSW support groups.
(I fully understand people may be tired of this part of Patsy and Delia’s story by now… the themes of PTSD, grief, and recovering from past trauma are big in my life currently and it’s helpful to write things that resonate personally with the familiar comfy backdrop of CTM and P&D’s love. The 15th of March is a big grief anniversary for me, so I just fully projected my shitty day full of memories of witnessing something I wish I could unsee into this fic. Sorry if it’s feeling like a broken record, but hey, that’s also the reality of trauma. It comes up over and over as it heals.)

It’s autumn of 1946, Patsy and Delia are in London attending training school and it is mandatory that they lodge in hospital-approved accommodations. They are randomly allocated to separate rooms at the nurses home along with the other students. The separation makes adjusting to post-war life as a couple difficult but nevertheless they find each other under the stars, again, to comfort each other.
