Sterling Cooper moved back home from Zuzu City as a final chance to try to stay clean, keep his head down and not make waves in Pelican Town. He wasn't expecting to meet someone like Eli--a rooftop-climbing, cryptid-hunting, ridiculously charming cryptozoologist who decided to drag him into a mystery of magical creatures and midnight stakeouts.
But when a chance encounter under the stars turns into nights of stargazing, half-truths, and maybe-sightings of maybe-real creatures, Sterling finds himself pulled into Eli’s world.
He’s not sure what he believes in anymore and somehow, the quiet between them feels like the safest place on Earth.
A slow-burn romance about starlight, secrets, and learning to believe in things you thought you’d lost the ability to, including yourself.

Started as a short writing exercise/drabble, turned into a short story off to the side of Mostly Mythical, and now further expanded into a full oneshot that extends the short story (Mostly Mythical B-Sides Ch. 4) and let's things become more intimate and passionate where the other version ended without showing the extended night together. This isn't in alignment with the plot of Mostly Mythical but it was too cute to NOT make an extended NSFW version.
Can be read as a standalone Sterling/Eli oneshot. Enjoy!

Summary
Mostly Mythical has become my big passion project for me, and my favorite work to talk about on Discord, in group chats, etc. I share A LOT of pieces on Discord, including random snippets, self satisfying smut, jokes, ideas and headcannons, among other things, but due to how absolutely massive this fic has become, I have LOADS of unused, cut and extra content related to it. To help me clear out my MM folder of pieces I don't need or wrote in fugue states, I decided that I'd make a home for everything that isn't being used for the main fic. This is all barely organized chaos, a lot of side writing and smut, rough drafts from before the outline changed, etc.

Magic has been restored to the valley, as it was before it had been locked away, and Lysander has fully recovered from the injuries that he suffered during the conflict. So when an old lover of his shows up unexpectedly, who has just moved back to the home where he grew up there in town, everyone is surprised but excited to see their old friend, and to learn of the shared history between the two men. Rekindling their old friendship, and then the physical connection, Lysander couldn't be more grateful for everything and everyone in his life

Sterling and Sam sneak into the community center late one night with entirely pure intentions.

“Feels weird being here after hours,” Sam murmured with a quiet grin, voice low. Sterling slipped his hand into his jacket pocket, shoulders loose but gaze keen as he wrapped an arm around Sam’s neck, leading him into the main room.
The couch stood ready in the middle of the space, cushions and throw pillows already arranged into a makeshift nest on the floor. A couple of blankets were draped over the backrest of the couch, clearly prepared ahead of time. Sam felt himself blush, warmth flooding his cheeks. “You planned this?”
Sterling’s chuckle was low and pleased as he stepped past him, the soles of his boots whispering over the polished floor and rugs. “Wanted to surprise you. I'm a hopeless romantic, Sammy.” He kicked off his shoes lazily, toes curling against the cool ground, and dropped his jacket onto the arm of the couch before settling in. His hand stretched out toward Sam, fingers curling in an inviting gesture. “Come here, sweet boy.”

Other days, lots of loud noises made her mad, ‘cause her head and ears hurt, and everything else would bother her too—even the clothes she wore would suddenly become tight or itchy, no matter how comfy they were earlier.
Uncle Seb always knew, though, and he’d take her away from the racket until she felt better. For some reason, the walls of Uncle Seb’s house trapped all the sound inside way better than the farmhouse did. Uncle Sterling liked to joke they’d made the house ‘soundproof’ because of how loud her uncles got. Daddy always blushed whenever he said that. Jade didn’t know why. Uncle Sam’s guitar could get really loud, and so could Uncle Seb’s keyboard. After all, she should know! Uncle Seb sometimes let her play his keyboard—especially since she’d started working on her big surprise.

Unfortunately, she didn't count on Sterling Cooper when she made those rules. Sterling is a hot mess (emphasis on hot) and keeps breaking down the walls Samantha has carefully built around her heart...sometimes without even trying.

Ignoring how the heat from her ears traveled over her cheeks, Callie retorted, “I heard before I ever moved here that the valley had the best views in the Republic, and I have to agree. Pretty sure your ass qualifies as a wonder of the world.”
Laughter bubbled out of Sterling as he straightened up. “Damn, sugar plum, I’m rubbing off on you.”
“Promises, promises,” she grinned as she approached his workspace.
Grabbing a nearby rag and a bottle of some cleaner or another, Sterling doused the rag and then wiped the grease away before turning to face her. “I mean, I’m game if you are,” he said, ocean eyes crinkling at the corners from his teasing smile.
