Summary
A millennia after the Deunification of Navarre, the war that splintered the Continent is little more than a dusty, half-forgotten memory. Magic is fading; dragons are few and far between; and Violet's problems are decidedly first-world. While the dragon riders of old worried about death lurking around every corner, her biggest worry is whether she'll get into the masters program of her choice. So when an infuriating, handsome man steals her spot at a coffee shop while she's in the bathroom, she doesn't expect that the meeting is far more than mere coincidence.
But Xaden's and Violet's feud over the best spot at the coffee shop evolves into something deeper, and as the years pass, Violet's dreams begin showing her terrifying scenes of war and loss that she struggles to forget about when she awakens, and the dreams feel more and more familiar with every passing night.
