Midnighter read through the list again, checked the sign hanging above the aisle, ran a hand through his exposed hair. He could do this. This was nothing, compared to the other things he’d done. It was… the violence was supposed to be the surreal part. The running, the constant movement, the never settling. Not this part. This part was supposed to be the easy part.
Or: Midnighter goes to the grocery store for the first time since Stormwatch brought them in from being on the run. And then he goes home to Apollo.
