  Summary

  Transcendence: Welcome To Midwich Valley is a short I wrote for the recently-passed Halloween season.
  This story focuses on Ignus Tabenthe, chosen of Nova (one of the 'Vanished Gods' of Transcendence), his efforts to regain the elemental gem of flame where Nova is trapped by an ancient curse, and escape from the clutches of the Mourners, a wide-spread religious cult that worships the Matriarch, with members in every stratum of every society.
  Ignus was raised in a different society than the one the main Transcendence series begins in, so instead of references to the Immortal, the Matriarch, and the Soulbound, you'll see references to the Timeless, the Queen, and her Brood.
