Summary
When she is told of the marriage between Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan, her dearest companion, with whom imagined spending her entire life with, societal expectations be damned, Mei Chunhua runs off in betrayal and anger. She hides away in a corner of Lotus Pier, sucking in her tears with a broken heart.
That is until Wei Changze finds her. She is about to lash out when he offers her a simple pork bun, and sits beside her. Watches at she shout indignities at him until her throat is sore, before he urges her to eat. Shocked, she quietly, she chews her food, and they sit in silence.
As strange as it was, it was comfortable. She never sees Wei Changze again, but every so often as the years pass, she picks up a pork bun when she is particularity upset (most at her good-for-nothing husband), and smiles as she chews.

Years later, in the streets of Yiling, her son, Jin Zixuan finds a boy named Wei Ying wandering the streets, a stale and dirty bun in his hands, and she makes a choice.

“Wei-Xiong, what’s that?” Nie Huaisang curiously asked, a finger in his chin as he gaped at what his friend held.
“I found it while i was walking around the forest searching for pheasants.” the other replied, in his hands revealed a circular golden orb.
“Wait, are you two plain idiots?! Don’t touch it!” Jiang Cheng exclaimed loudly, but it was already too late as Nie Huaisang has already pulled the stunt.
“I wonder what it does though—“ Nie Huaisang laughed, when Wei Wuxian touched the orb, the trio blacked out strangely.
As soon as they woke up, they surprisingly found themselves somewhere else that which they could not recognize as the Cloud Recesses, but instead a strange room is what was recognized… along with 12 other people.
