While visiting a planet in search of new delicacies, Beerus and Whis come across a young girl with physical attributes unlike that of the planet's natives. Upon learning that she is an orphan, the two decide to take her in.
As Whis takes the child through the Omnirax market and trading post, she takes notice of a young alien accompanying his father.
Beerus and Whis raise Athena as their own until they hear rumors of a small colony of other beings like this strange child. Believing Athena will do better among her own people, Beerus strikes a deal with the planet's ruler: they incorporate the girl into their society, and Beerus will not destroy their civilization.
