Bertolt's been dead for a while. It's fine. Better than being crushed to paste between a titan's teeth anyway, which is the last thing he remembers. But an inconvenient awakening in the Paths during the Rumbling—and the sight of a certain someone in the distance—makes him think it might be worth trying to be alive again. Ugh, he's only been back from the dead for thirty seconds and he's ALREADY crying.
It’s four years later, and everything is different.
An ongoing post-canon fixit for those who think that Bertolt deserved better.

Summary
Bertolt is a burned out crybaby with a brutal inner monologue that just won’t quit. Reiner is a stand-up guy, but he’s not quite right in the head. Just your average pair of messy, trauma-bonded traitors, trying to survive in an eat-or-be-eaten world.
Having infiltrated the Survey Corps, and hurtling towards inevitable conflict, they navigate disasters, tolerate idiots, throw books, and stumble incompetently towards each other in a relationship that could be headed for bliss or total tragedy, depending.

Bertholdt's mind gets noisy frequently, his shattered conscience tainted by the blood of his victims scrapes at the insides of his skull. The horrific sound is made of sharp nails made from collected guilt over the years, echoing through his ears every moment he is alone with himself.
