“You are such a fucking asshole.” Steve says, but again there’s no venom behind his words. It comes out like an observational statement, like they’re back in Freshman year biology marking down the anatomy of the frog they dissected. Looks like spaghetti, Steve had said while they stared down at the guts in front of them, and even now Tommy can’t eat spaghetti without thinking of it. “You know, believe it or not, Eddie doesn’t treat people the way you do. He wouldn’t even think to.”
Tommy scoffs, does an eye roll of his own. “Yeah, I’m sure he’s real sweet to people before he gouges their eyes out."

Summary
Hawkins, Indiana, summer of 1985. Heather Holloway works as a lifeguard at the public pool, along with Billy Hargrove. After what she believes to be a romantic night together, Heather finds out she is pregnant and opts to keep the baby.
Heather becomes estranged from her family, as they do not approve of her choices. Disturbing nightmares and odd coincidences begin to plague her, all of them involving Billy and/or the baby growing inside her. She believes many of Hawkins’ residences are acting strangely toward her for more than just the unplanned pregnancy.
Heather feels a mounting sense of dread and angst, seeking solace in doctors, therapists, policemen, priests, but no one seems to be able to help. She becomes convinced that something evil is at work.
