The captain draws himself up. “He’s getting better! His performance in the past couple of days, it’s really skyrocketed! You can’t really mean to kill him now, with all this progress! My god, man!” The captain is really getting into it, so much so that Jim doesn't even bother to correct him. “And don't tell me you that you're actually willing to risk all that pirating expertise! Now, I know in the past few months, there’s been a bit of a slump in his deliverables, and I understand where you’re coming from—I really do, but we should be…be maximizing his potential now, looking at his sudden upturn in performance, rewarding the growth he’s shown—”
