"Soap had been struggling with his feelings the past few days. Something clearly had changed between Ghost and himself, but he couldn’t figure out if it was for better or worse. In the two weeks since the incident with Graves, they had barely spoken. Things hadn’t been too awkward around the garage, and Ghost didn’t seem to mind dropping him off at class if the pain in his arm was too much to consider driving alone, but their usual banter was gone. Conversation was polite, professional, sterile. They were two acquaintances again, not close friends. Certainly not two people who had almost kissed in an adrenaline fueled haze while a bullet was dug out of his arm on the kitchen table."
