Tony swallows. When he speaks, his voice is thick. “I do, Pete. You’re my kid, plain and simple.”
That thought itself is terrifying, but Peter goes on. “And you would still choose me as your kid, even if…even if I was bi?”

Harley had said something three days earlier. It was offhanded and immediately forgotten by him, while Peter continued to think about it for the next seventy-two hours.
“Sorry, Parker – it’s family dinner night.”
Family dinner night.
And family, apparently, didn’t include Peter Parker.
So, maybe he’d been spending the past three days passive aggressively talking about all the things Mr Stark and he had in common that Harley couldn’t relate to. Maybe he’d been pulling Iron Man out and specifically searching for danger that he would normally avoid or leave to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen or some other vigilante. Maybe he’d been solely focused on giving a metaphorical middle finger to Harley by having oh so many inside jokes with Mr Stark.
Peter knew it was stupid.

For a moment, the image was replaced with May. Corpse strewn across the road, the car speeding off into the distance; blood running down from her nose, eyes unseeing, staring into the sky above. He wondered what her last thought had been.
Peter blinked and it was Finn again. A Dungeons and Dragons character. MJ. Not May.

He’s not sorry for going. But he thinks Dr. Strange knows that. And he’s expecting a silent wave but Dr. Strange’s looking at him like he’s staring at something nostalgic. “You remind me of him you know. No matter where our souls go, part of them stay with us. You’ve got the best of him Peter. You should be proud of that.”
He vanishes before Peter can say anything at all. But his words strike a chord deep inside him. It’s like Tony said. Love lives eternal in the stories we tell and the memories we made. And sometimes, love lives in the ones who fulfill your legacy, the seeds you sowed in your garden.

Red, violet, and blue surround the lowering sun and bathe the sky in a deep, warm hue.
Actually, fuck that. Maybe that’s too romantic of a description. The sky looks more like a slathering of pigments that are haphazardly, yet gently painted across the sky as if a spectacularly talented toddler was up there, going batshit with finger paints.
While the sun slowly gives way to the darkening sky, the lasting rays of light highlight a certain clifftop where two particularly stupid boys are sitting next to each other.
