Two years after the battle of the storm spire, Rayla has returned from her solo quest empty-handed. But before she can even begin to apologize, she makes a startling discovery upon her arrival in Katolis.
Both Callum and Ezran have mysteriously vanished overnight.

What if Rayla was right, and killing Ezran couldn't have freed the assassins because they were bound to avenge a death that hadn't yet happened? Runaan wavers in his convictions and gathers the other assassins to her cause. He will have to learn to let Rayla forge her own path, as she will learn to step out of the shadows cast by all of her parents. These human princes show a level of honor and respect to the elves that the assassins are unused to, and both sides must question everything they were taught.
Note: major character death is in reference to King Harrow, who is not actually dead, but everyone in the story will believe that he is and it's narrated as such, so it's getting the warning anyways. No one else is going to die I promise.

The man’s chains rattled, jingles cascading as a result from his very chuckles.
“Finding amusement in this I assume?” The woman inquired, approaching the chained man’s desk.
“Oh no! Not at all!” He snickered, flailing hands trailed after with a shake of the head. “I just… found your joke funny is all…” Ruffling his unkept hair, a mass heap of brown tangles poked out. Golden eyes dropped, quickly regaining their position as she leaned closer.
“It wasn’t a joke,” she replied. A gradual eyebrow lift came in response.
“Oh.” He sat back, allowing his eyes to wander past. She stood her ground, holding back a miniature smirk. Then she straightened herself, looking down at him.
“Now Ezran Sarai Evermere,” she said, her elegant gold eyes tied to his stare. “Can you explain to me why you were found at the scene of Callum Evermere’s murder?”

What if the Runaan conflict went REALLY bad?
Callum's ice daggers spell shoot into a crowd. Ezran is the only one in said crowd not wearing a helmet. Go figure the rest.
Ezran and Aanya decide that fuck the elves and fuck the dragons, and decides to close their borders to Xadia, which isolates the human kingdoms as a whole since Duren and Katolis control the whole border.
Across the 6 year time skip, Claudia realizes she can't bring Aaravos back, so she manipulates other dark mages, who wish to revolt against the magic ban in Katolis and Duren. Now they all believe Aaravos will grant them the freedom to dark magic and Ezran and Aanya are tyrants.
Callum and Rayla figure out the closest way to defeating Aaravos is a dark spell, the only problem being that they need the Nova Blade for it. Who has the Nova Blade? Yeah.
The queens of Lux Aurea keep trying to make it into Katolis, and try to either negotiate with, or overthrow Ezran. Claudia is sending cultists after him. He's realizing he might like Aanya a little bit too much. Ellis keeps doing stupid shit.
Basically, Ezran has a very hard time.

The world seemed to narrow down to just the two of them. Soren felt a flutter of panic mixed with something warm, something he couldn’t ignore as their eyes met. He stammered in a panic, “I… I didn’t expect to find you here…”
The panic in both Soren’s voice and face made Corvus get up. “I can leave…”
“No!” The word shot out of Soren before he could stop it, his heart leaping. Corvus froze and then sat back down, studying Soren with a cautious, almost hopeful look. Soren swallowed, walking towards Corvus. The silence thickened around them. “I want you…” He placed his hand on Corvus’s arm, feeling the warmth of Corvus’s skin so clearly. “To stay,” he finished, his voice barely a whisper.
Their eyes were glued together as Soren sat down next to Corvus. Soren could feel his pulse raging as he took a slow, shaky breath. His gaze drifted down to Corvus’s lips, and he leaned in, heart pounding. “Can I try…?” he murmured, the words tumbling out before he could stop himself. But halfway through, he hesitated. -
