Summary
He bit into the burger and considered that he never used to be the kind of person who would eat something if he didn't need it, just because it tasted good, but that had clearly changed.
He wasn't hungry, but he wanted to eat, so he did.
And Ronan could barely keep his eyes on the road. Adam didn't know what was so distracting about just watching him eat, but the more time he spent running similar experiments, the more Adam was convinced that Ronan liked it.

Summary
Adam fumbles for his keys. His fingers are numb and clumsy and it takes him a few moments to fish them out of his pocket, and another few to jam the right key into the lock and turn it. He stumbles into the apartment, catches himself on the door frame, drops his keys in the bowl by the door and kicks it shut only to realize, belatedly, how loud he's being.
He pauses to listen for his roommate, but doesn't hear the telltale sound of electronica or his restless movements, so he figures that either Ronan is asleep (unlikely), or out (more likely). Ronan is usually the one to stumble loudly and drunkenly into the apartment at all hours of the night, and it's strange to be on the other end of it. He both desperately doesn't want Ronan to see him in this state and thinks that it would serve him right to have his sleep interrupted, for once.

Summary
If one were to go on looks alone, no one would ever peg Ronan Lynch as someone who watched The Great British Baking Show.
The show was soft, with quaint music overlaying cuts of pastel cake stands and delicate tea cups painted with tiny little flowers. Contestants helped one another when things got down to the wire and one of them was having a difficult time assembling an elaborate cake. Hell, even Paul Hollywood’s criticisms were tempered and nothing like a host would have said if the show had been American-made.
Ronan Lynch was--not soft.
Ronan Lynch needs to find something quiet to watch on television while his boyfriend, Adam, studies. He settles on The Great British Baking Show.
Then Ronan starts baking, and Adam (and his waistline) benefit.

Adam usually blamed himself. He needed to be the best, no matter if it took late nights studying to get the best grades, hauling ass to unpack more pallets at work, or longer hours at the garage to fix more cars.
Adam blamed his current situation on Ronan Lynch.
When Ronan notices Adam eyeing up what he's been eating, he bets Adam would never do what Ronan's doing: gaining weight. But Adam's up for that challenge.

Summary
Both Adam and Ronan leave a cruise vacation a little heavier.
Adam is driving him crazy.
There’s the fact that he’d agreed to come on this trip with Ronan and his brothers with nary a complaint about free handouts. Then there’s the way he’s been eating this whole time, like it’s going out of style.
Ronan hasn’t exactly been spreading it on lightly, either, but he’s always eaten more than Adam anyway. Especially lately, ever since he admitted to himself how much he liked it, eating until he feels slow and lazy, the ever-present buzz in his brain dulled to a distant hum.
Ronan just hadn’t expected Adam to be able to keep up.

Summary
All the protein shakes Ronan gave him, all the breakfasts in bed, all the snacks pressed into his hands had filled him back out to where he'd been before. To more than he'd been before; when Adam stepped on the scale in the bathroom, he was a pound heavier than the weight on his driver’s license.
For a few moments, Adam took stock of himself. He felt better than he had when they pulled up at the Barns, healthier and stronger. Two weeks of plenty to eat and drink had wrought near-miraculous change, and when he looked in the mirror over the sink, he looked the way Adam Parrish should, gaunt but not ghastly, lean but not rail thin. Ronan had succeeded in getting Adam back to normal, but that didn't stop Adam from grabbing one last cookies and cream protein drink from the fridge when he went back downstairs.
After avoiding the end of the world, Ronan puts meat back on Adam's bones.

Summary
The worst decision Adam Parrish ever made was moving in with his two best friends for the summer between his freshman and sophomore years of college.
His next worst was accepting an internship on his best friend's — Richard Campbell Gansey III — mother's congressional campaign a week later, and his third worst was falling into bed with his other best friend — Ronan Lynch — the week after that, but without making his top-ranking worst decision, nothing else that summer would have occurred. Or possibly it would have, but moving in with Gansey and Ronan definitely did not help.
When Adam moves into Monmouth Manufacturing with Gansey and Ronan for the summer, it's not just their friendship — and Adam and Ronan's young relationship — that grows.
