I have studied X for many years now. I know I will never understand how Dr. Light did it.
My Reploids have free will. But it isn’t perfect. A glitch, stress, or brief contact with the virus, and they go Maverick.
X is different. His free will is built on a foundation of inherent goodness. In my attempt to give that goodness to the world, I have instead unleashed what might destroy it.
This leads to a fear I can't ignore. Is X truly perfect? Or could the right stress—one profound betrayal, one too many ugly truths about us—finally shatter his faith in humanity?
The idea is frightening.
Zero hesitated for a moment, then raised his gaze.
