Summary
A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY
ARKINOS is a luxury pilot with a fast ship and a good network of well-paying customers. He keeps his head down and avoids IMPERIAL attention, but when he provides transportation for an unusual customer, the job turns out to be difficult - the child he has rescued from smugglers has no idea where her home planet might be.
MEANWHILE, CHESS is a former clone trooper, living on an OUTER RIM planet, KAIDU, with his family. He has everything he could ever want, but when a friend comes to him with an urgent plea, he considers leaving his home for the first time since the war ended.

“Get down from there!” The shout made Arkinos grab his blaster. He saw two tall humanoids at the end of the alley.
“What’s going on here?” Arkinos asked. The two turned around. The togruta, battle-scarred, gave him an appraising glance.
“Personal affair,” the togruta said. Arkinos shrugged and turned to leave when some movement caught the corner of his eye. A tiny figure perched near the top of a pile of crates and tried to squeeze further out of view.
